I was told by a number of friends to use another supplier; however, we went with our contractors referral. From the design to ordering cabinets and countertop, we had errors and delays due to their inexperience and incompetence. My experience would be unbelievable if it didn't happen. Seven years ago we bought new kitchen cabinets from Andy Foster. After one or two years of use, we experienced some lack of quality and I began calling the cabinet maker for some advice but never received an answer to my messages. I continued to call the cabinet supplier over the next several years with no satisfaction. Foster Kitchens designed and supplied the cabinets but didn't manufacture them, but Andy agreed that the quality should have been better. Since we dealt with Andy Foster, he made the problem go away, at his expense. We had three wood craftsmen working in our kitchen these past few days, one of which was Andy Foster, correcting someone else's poor workmanship. No matter whether a company is an IBM or a locally owned business, things don't always go 100% right. How those businesses correct the problems, is what makes the difference. Went in and spent a…read morehalf hour getting advice from Susan on choice of wall tiles for partial kitchen remodel and was advised on selecting particular tile. Susan also advised me to first wait for them to order a sample tile before I placed my order and advised me that the sample should be in in a few weeks. Two months later, when I had heard nothing back, called in. After finally getting past their terrible voicemail system that constantly told me it had not yet been set up so no messages could be left, I finally spoke with salesperson who told me Susan would get back to me in a few days. Two weeks later, still no call back, left both a voicemail message and sent email to Susan's attention. Now one month after that, still no call back, no reply to the email... nothing. What a huge waste of my time and a needless delay of two months for no reason whatsoever. Fortunately, I wrote down the tile manufacturer's name and was able to finally contact the manufacturer directly to proceed with my order.

Cindi found me just the perfect slab of soapstone for my countertops and Susan found just the brick floors I was looking for. The entire process was very easy and Cindi kept me updated constantly about the timing of the shipping and installation..they even stored it there until I was ready. Steven and Jacob didn't an amazing job on the countertop installation and even sealed the stone before they left. Cindi reached out the next day to check in. I'm not sure about the crappy reviews other people left..but this is the second time I've bought from them and I've been beyond happy with this store. Turns out sign was pointed in WRONG LOCATION across street and away from actual location. Not a good 1st impression. Called to find entrance and told sign must have been "turned around". No one paying attention to details? Inside woman I spoke to on phone was short, rude and didn't seem interested in setting up a "free estimate" or "free design". I was told have to take my own measurements, pick samples and give a"basic" idea of what I wanted first. After they would give me a " estimate" of probable Cost. If that was "acceptable" they'd setup up an in home estimate, design date. I got more enthusiastic service at Lowe's!

A new store every time you shop, Mimi also posts updates on instagram, so you can keep up-to-date on what's in house even when you don't have time to pop in... which you'll want to do whenever you can! Our family lost our house to a fire, so we are "frequent fliers." Most of the furniture that we now have was purchased at Mimi's. The pieces we bought all have some small story behind them which we enjoy. Mimi's has been a godsend for us. Mimi's is conveniently located in downtown Ithaca, the staff is friendly & helpful, prices are reasonable and there's always something fun and funky to marvel at even if you don't take it home with you. There are a few prime meter-free spots, but bring some change with you in case you need to park on the street. The staff has tape measures handy, but if you're looking to fill a space at home remember to give it a quick measure to ease your shopping. Mimi's, at times, can be jam-packed full of good things and navigation can be tricky if you have mobility issues. Well worth checking out again and again in person and online!
