This store is one of the few remaining in the Ithaca mall, but I'm very thankful it's there! They have what you would typically expect to find in a Target, and I really appreciate being able to use their app to find where items are and have them actually be there and be in stock! Something simple, but so important. I do find myself comparing prices with other stores because their prices can be a little high. But they also have some great deals, which makes it worth the stop. They seem to be understaffed, but the staff they have has always been pleasant in my experience. Their being understaffed can be particularly frustrating when there's only one or two registers open and the line at the self checkout is wrapped down the aisle. But that's a higher level issue. The only downside to this location is its proximity to Cornell and Ithaca colleges. It can create a lot of chaos within the store, especially around move-in days or other major college events. The college kids also tend to leave things messy behind themselves, and I can tell it's hard for the staff to keep up with straightening things up at times. Not great, not awful. Super easily accessible from the parking area and from the mall. There's awesome clearance selections in every department. The bathrooms were clean but one of the toilets didn't flush on its own so lazy people don't bother. This review would have been better but we waited a long time to do a return and when asked, an employee was not helpful and never attempted to call for the person that was supposed to be at the return desk. read more

A Target, especially one as sizable and accessible as this, is nothing short of heaven in Ithaca. This alone grants the place a solid 5 stars. You can pretty much find anything you need here, whether you're prepping for a dish (as long as it's not Asian cuisine) or just stocking up on essentials. To be fair, I probably exaggerated a little. You couldddd potentially find some ingredients for your Asian dishes, like soy sauce. But obviously, it's not your local Asian supermarket. The variety is fantastic, and the prices are incredibly affordable, which is always a plus. Adding to the convenience, it's connected to a Starbucks, which is quite typical but still a nice touch for a quick caffeine fix. Overall, this Target is a lifesaver and a gem in Ithaca. Average Target store. Well-organized, clean, bright and shiny. More attention could be paid to the restrooms since it seems they get use from all in the mall. More open checkouts would be helpful during busy times in addition to the self-checkouts which can't be used with certain gift cards, etc. And check out clerks could be encouraged to be at least minimally friendly to customers... I'm overly generous of spirit to clerks because it can be a tiring job, I know-been there. Last serveral visits were angry clerks... that's ok, I'll shop online. No cell-service... read more

I just read some other reviews, and can make a couple of comments about them. First of all, Target has FREE wifi, so if your cell phone doesn't work, try switching on to the wifi service - works like a charm. Secondly, I have never experienced any rudeness from a Target employee - they always have been both courteous and professional. Let's face it, no one is happy to see people replaced with self-checkouts, but once you learn how to use them they are very quick. Remember, also, that this is the trend today, and the few employees there are having to do more each day. That they are able to maintain such a cheerful disposition is laudable! While the layout is what you'd expect at a Target, some service aspects are lacking. In particular, they have zero cell phone service with any carrier. Extremely annoying! In this day there is no excuse for that, much less the fact that they have signs urging you to do things on your phone. Perhaps they should try it before posting the signs. Within the limitations any brick and mortar business faces (there is no way for them to match the selection of products available online), our local Target store does about the best that could be expected. I mostly buy groceries there, and Target generally charges 40-50% less than local supermarkets for the exact same packaged foods (cereal, TV dinners, frozen fruits and vegetables, etc.), while offering a surprising variety of organic and vegetarian options (a dedicated health food store will give you more choices in this regard, but you'll probably pay more than twice what you would at Target). Fresh produce is a bit more competitive, but I still prefer Target's cheery vibe and friendly employees to the mildly depressing atmosphere of most supermarkets and other discount stores. The 5% RedCard discount is a nice bonus, and having a nearby Target store also makes returning items purchased at their website much more convenient. I am taking off one star because for some items (such as toilet plungers, I recently discovered), Target's selection is inexplicably limited and pricey. $30 for even a "high end" toilet plunger is nuts, and I was able to find equivalent items online for less than half the price. read more

I love Target, it's my go-to department store. The clothes there are always up to date and they have a good selection of things. Although sometimes some of the things there are a little overpriced, some of the things there are really affordable AND high quality. I don't live in Ithaca but am visiting family. Two days before Christmas was when this location set out holiday items and as my SIL said, it's too late by that point. It has been my experience that every store is clean, not just this one. Also, the wifi IS bad in this store as it is spotty through the city / town so it has nothing to do with how our phone is set up. read more

Just because ithaca target has self check outs, doesn't mean people have to use them. Isles are usually full with pallets and employees stocking. You can not get a cart down them, that means people in wheelchairs can NOT shop at target. At least walmart, tops, and wegmens stocks shelves over night with less customers. You have like around 20+ employees working in the mornings. Why can't you have overnight stocking like you used to? Some isle are so narrow that if someone is in it with a cart. You have to wait until that person leaves the isle. Isles with post in them. Employees have extremely bad attitudes when you ask them questions or make them open a register. Employees at ithaca target are worse then ithaca walmart. That's bad! Employee meetings are in the middle of the store or an isle. They seem to be where I need to go in the store everytime I go in the morning. One day I will be in a wheelchair and if you don't change. I will sue ithaca target. I've already notified a few people I know that have wheelchair to go there in the morning with a camera. Maybe one of them will listen to me and sue you. read more

I have to say I never leave negative reviews -- but I recently had such a bad experience, I cannot help but share. I was told at Target online (chat and phone) that I could price adjust something, but needed to do it in store. So, I went in store, and the regular clerk told me she couldn't do it. And said she'd call her manager. Then, her manager appears -- and from the second she started speaking to me she was the most aggressive, combative customer service person I've ever encountered. I just calmly told her what i was told from Target Help desk online - and she was extremely abrasive and rude. I never argued (b/c frankly, it just wasn't worth it that much)-- but she was in attack mode. To the point where I asked her if she was having a bad day, and pointed out that I hadn't raised my voice, or insinuated that i was being cheated, or anything -- i was just relaying what I was told I could do. And I even said - its not like i'm interested in ripping you off -- and she replied that I'm not trying to rip her off, I'm trying to rip off target and she won't be a part of it. It was completely off the charts. So, avoid the day manager at all costs -- her name was lana or olga or something short like that (can't remember) -- and she is definitely worth avoiding! read more

I love Target. Sure there are a couple of cashiers that I avoid, but there are others to choose from. It has everything and allows me to avoid the other grocery store nearby. I go almost daily for everything except vegetables, and even some of those are pretty good. read more

My husband and I stopped into our local Target last night in Lansing New York. We checked the hours of operation and were happy that it said till 11pm on the front door. We got our cart and the Christmas ad from up front. As we started down the aisle, it was 9:55,we were told that the store was closing in 5 minutes. Instead of Christmas toy shopping ($$$ went to Walmart in Ithaca) we grabbed a pack of batteries and checked out. The employees seemed unaware of the posted hours of operation. When my husband mentioned it he was told it must be a mistake from summertime. I commented to my husband that it seemed early for a Friday night in a college town and the cashier commented that the employees want to go home too. I wasn't speaking to her,I was having a conversation with my husband. She would have been more efficient had she not had horribly long fingernails that prohibited her from actually being able to grab the bills that were our change. Not a sorry or we'll check into it. Complete indifference and there were close to 20 or so customers all checking out. We spent 272.85 at the electronic department at Walmart about 20 minutes later. I wonder how much money the other customers did not get to spend. read more

I have always loved going to Ithaca's Target since their grand opening. Pleased with most of their customer service. However I have never encountered such bad customer until this evening. Went to the customer service to do an exchange and waited while the girls behind the counter gabbed. Then when one finally looked at me with distaste as if I interrupted her gab session she continued to be rude. I told her I needed to do an exchange, showing her my receipt and item and then she says "alright" sarcastically and I had to tell her how to read the receipt since she rudely stated that the receipt did not match the item. After finding an item to exchange with back at customer service she asked with an attitude if we wanted to keep the hangar from our item. We said no thank you and she rudely with attitude tossed the hangar behind her head. After the exchange was completed she laughed sarcastically at us and waited on the next person with overly-done enthusiasm. I do not know if she just did not want to be there but is considered to me a great risk to this store. read more
