I recently purchased a pair of Liverpool ankle jeans from Bev & Co. I wore them once and washed…read morethem once. When I took the jeans out of the wash, I found a gaping, threadbare hole at the bottom of one leg, and the very beginnings of a hole near the bottom of the other leg. I immediately returned the jeans to Bev's and requested a refund. After a week had passed, i got a call from the manager who told me I could only have a 'credit' because either my washing machine ripped the jeans or I had bleached them. I explained that my washing machine has NEVER put holes in any article of clothing (much less jeans) and that I don't, and didn't, use bleach Then the manager said, "Well, it's your word against mine." Really? Apparently it's common practice for Bev & Co. staff to call their customers "liars." Most legitimate businesses will stand by their merchandise and respect their clientele. Not the case at Bev & Co. I don't know what was wrong with these jeans but they were unquestionably defective and it was not my fault. I currently have 5 articles of clothing in my closet that I purchased from Bev & Co: One by Ttibal, two by Habitat and two by Clara Sun Woo. Not exactly a fly-by-night customer. However, I guarantee you that I just made my last purchase at this so-called boutique. And that's no lie.

This store is one of the few remaining in the Ithaca mall, but I'm very thankful it's there!…read more They have what you would typically expect to find in a Target, and I really appreciate being able to use their app to find where items are and have them actually be there and be in stock! Something simple, but so important. I do find myself comparing prices with other stores because their prices can be a little high. But they also have some great deals, which makes it worth the stop. They seem to be understaffed, but the staff they have has always been pleasant in my experience. Their being understaffed can be particularly frustrating when there's only one or two registers open and the line at the self checkout is wrapped down the aisle. But that's a higher level issue. The only downside to this location is its proximity to Cornell and Ithaca colleges. It can create a lot of chaos within the store, especially around move-in days or other major college events. The college kids also tend to leave things messy behind themselves, and I can tell it's hard for the staff to keep up with straightening things up at times. I appreciate the staffs efforts, and it is far from their fault, but it can make it frustrating as a shopper.

One customer left and another came over and asked me if I thought it was appropriate behavior. She then said after we heard the political comments "I can't buy anything here" and left. Just as I glanced at them, the one - who later identified herself as "the manager" asked if I needed assistance. I said "thank you for finally asking". She said.. "we were just venting."- I continued.. "oh yes, we ALL have heard it-- there have been 3 of us in here and 2 have left because you have carried on a personal conversation that can be heard throughout the store! She then proceeded to tell me she had the right to refuse service as I was being rude to her! Refusing service?? She didn't provide any! Needless to say, my husband left the 3 pairs of shoes he was going to buy and we left. So possibly 5 sales lost but definitely 3! If the sales are tanking, this type of erratic, unprofessional behavior may be why. No wonder stores are closing when this is the type of employees representing the store. Corporate will be getting a call.

If you're planning to make a donation, I recommend going to the Thrifty Shopper instead. They were easy to work with and kind. My mother and I donated a sizable amount of nice linens and clothing, among other things. They made snarky remarks at us, saying, "we don't take clothing that comes on hangers." The reason the clothing was on hangers was because it had just been dry cleaned. If they had just nicely asked us to remove the hangers, we would've happily complied. Instead of being grateful for the high quality pieces that we donated, they seemed to be entirely annoyed by the receipt of a donation. For a store that makes profit by re-selling donations, you'd think they'd at least be respectful and appreciative. Additionally, the folks in the donation center were not helpful. At least four individuals stood around and watched as my mother and I made countless trips back and forth to our car. There were one or two items that the Salvation Army would not accept (which is fine). However, the individuals in the donation center waited until we carried these heavy items up the stairs (watching us the entire time) before telling us that they would not take them. If they knew they wouldn't accept the items, why waste our time and watch us lug the items back and forth? I understand that these individuals probably receive unpredictable and unusable items as donations all the time. However, they should still treat individuals with respect. The people who are donating are trying to do something nice. Also, it's not always what you say, but how you say it. A positive tone and attitude would have gone a long way in this scenario. Unfortunately, I will be taking my contributions elsewhere going forward.

Most are staffed with stylists who give great advice for amateurs looking to develop professional techniques. Always had it praised by friends and family going through cosmetology school. I told the employee who was monitoring the area and she got Roxanne, the floor manager of the day. Roxanne said that this was my problem and I'd have to call Walmart Tech Support. What the hell? My problem. Then she told me that I had not paid for the $35 bag of dog food and to pay again, which I did. I got to my truck and called my credit card company. They confirmed that I had paid twice. I went back in the store with the credit card agent on the phone. I found Roxanne and told her she could speak with them to confirm that I had paid twice. She declined and took off running across the store, back to the service desk. I followed her and told her that I would dispute the charges. She then said that she'd give my $35 back via a refund. When I called to speak with the manager to report what had happened Roxanne got on the line and pretended to be her own manager. What?! I hung up on her and called again. This time I got someone above Roxanne who said that she would be pulled into an office for a retraining meeting today. The manager was apologetic and seemed aghast by what i relayed to him. I have shopped at this store in Watkins Glen for 15 years and have never had a problem. This was bad. This Roxanne person needs to be retrained or fired. All of this was unnecessary. That's what I get for telling an employee that their machine wasn't working and was sending electronic receipts to the worng customer. Leaves a bad taste in one's mouth!!

Parking lot coming from the one side is a no right turn but lot had plenty of space and wasn't busy on a Monday.
