I had a fantastic experience working with Thane on a big tailoring order a few weeks ago. I had 7 or so suits that needed various levels of adjustments, mostly simple stuff like shortening sleeves, hemming pants, and taking in the width on a few blazers. However, I also had one blazer that I purchased at an online tailor company that came out very wonky in the shoulders. Thane was able to perform surgery on it and perfectly fix the issues. He got everything done on a tight timeframe too, and put in extra work to get it all exact. Beyond that, he was a pleasure to chat with and very professional. The whole project came to a little over $1000, which I think was reasonable given the quantity and quality of work done. I especially don't think anyone else could have fixed the shoulders on that one blazer, so it effectively saved me the value of losing out on an entire suit jacket. read more

The selection of men's wear is quite good. Good suits, jackets, shirts, ties, and (my favorite) bowties. I shop a lot online, but when I need something special or properly fit, I come here. That said, some staff are a bit off-putting (arrogant). Also, if I bring in some pants to find a sport coat that might match (or vice versa), I find it hard because the lighting is strange. Almost a greenish tint that makes it hard to properly match colors. I have had to take things outside in the natural light to properly see the colors. They measured me and my party incorrectly then it was like pulling teeth to have them correct it. They charged me for a suit I couldn't wear and insulted me when I complained about it. We try to keep our business local but they aren't worth the hassle or insults. I was completely miss handled and will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. read more

I was in desperate need of advice about getting my son measured for a tuxedo. I spoke with Sam, and explained that my son is in Ithaca, NY and I am in Connecticut. He was very pleasant, gave great advice, and walked me through just about everything I needed to know in order to complete this "Mission (I hope not) Impossible" type task. I do not give five stars very often because they need to be kept for special occasions. Benjamin peters gets those five stars for me. It is the one place in Ithaca that men can find stylish clothes and that anyone can have assistance if needed. It is my place for a signature go to shirt for any age man in my life. My husband, my father-in-law, my cornell intern all have received a "out on the town" shirt. I even saw my husbands Benjamin Peter slim fit paisley button-down shirt on one of the guys in the hangover movie! My husband also got an awesome linen cream colored suit for a wedding which could not be found elsewhere. Another thing to check out is there year-round clearance section for men's clothes and shoes for men and women. I stop in every time I'm on the Commons because someone always need a gift. I think that clearance section is a little known fact for downtown. I need to mention the shoes before I'm done-They are the only selection for high end,comfy shoes for both men and women in the downtown area. It's the place where I can get my office shoes and my summer sexy but my feet don't hurt sandals. I got married last weekend and Benjamin Peters handled all of our tux rentals. We planned the wedding long distance and the entire wedding party was located in different states. Benjamin Peters made the entire process easy and we all looked great on the day of the wedding. We had multiple members of the wedding party turn in incorrect measurements and Benjamin Peters was able to make same day alterations and in one case overnight an entire new tux to make it in time for a 1:30 wedding. The day of the wedding we had a groomsmen forget his tie and BP dropped everything and drove up to our hotel with a spare. Sunday, as we were all leaving, we completely forgot to return our tuxes and left them all at the front desk of our hotel. BP drove up on Monday morning and picked them all up - no hassle at all! Even better, they realized we had forgotten some of the ties we had purchased and mailed them to me the next day. Grade A service on a day when a lot can go wrong.
