My friend introduced me to this place a long time ago and it was my first time trying mazemen noodles. It was a memorable meal, so much that I favorited the place on Google for whenever I'm in the area. I really like their noodle, it's not dry and it's saucy enough. I got the Yuzu Shio ramen last time I went and it's a good sized bowl. Comes w/ thick noodles, spring mix, braised cha siu, poached egg, garlic, onion, scallions, seaweed, and sprinkled with sesame seeds. After finishing the noodles, they give you a side of white rice that you can mix into the remaining sauce in your bowl. There's vinegar that you can add to it too, but it's optional. I would skip on the wings though, it's nothing special and there are better wings elsewhere. I got the sticky sweet sauce, but for some reason it tasted salty. I've gotten the banh mi fries in the past before too and I thought they were just okay. Overall decent place for mazemen, but sides are okay. Lots of seating, it was empty on a Friday afternoon.
I came here for dinner with a friend and had high expectations for Beat Mazesoba but the experience fell flat in my opinion. We both ordered the miso ramen and a chicken karaage appetizer. After taking our order and bringing the food to us, we never saw our waitress again and had to flag her down for the check. We were still contemplating whether or not to get drinks too but decided against it since nobody came to check on us. As for the food, the chicken karaage was decent but the broth for the ramen was super salty and made it difficult to enjoy. Perhaps my expectations are too high but I think there's better authentic ramen and Japanese spots in the area with a more pleasant dining experience.
Conveniently on Northern Blvd with no trouble finding street parking (metered and residential). It is a large space with nicely spaced out tables and some bar seating. It wasn't too crowded (4 filled tables) on a Saturday evening, though there were a few people coming in for delivery and takeout. They probably get more people during their weekday Happy Hour (3-6 PM). The staff was attentive and friendly. The Crispy Wings (Soy Nanban) was definitely crispy! I can really taste the marinade, which is balanced with the freshness of the lemon. The Beat Mazemen is their signature dish. Be sure to mix well! It is very flavorful, with tender meat, perfect thickness with the noodles, and a delicious marinated jammy egg. They have a container of yuzu vinegar, which lightens the heavier flavors. And once you reach the bottom of the bowl, you can add some rice (comes with the Mazemen in a small bowl) to soak up the remaining sauce, and gobble it up with the spoon! I was too full at this point, so I packed it to go. The Hot Matcha Tea comes in a small mug with the tea bag, so you can leave it in as long as you like. Pretty sure it's the ito en matcha tea bags, which I do enjoy. This helped refresh my palate from the strong flavors. Definitely the spot to checkout for the Mazemen! Seems to be good for groups and drinking!
We went here on a Saturday afternoon right as they opened for lunch. We were the only table in the restaurant. Service was friendly. The presentation of the food was very nice. Everything was tasty, however, the meat from the skewers was just slightly over done and the unagi was a bit too salty. I would go back again to try the ramen.
I'm always down to trying any new form of Japanese cuisine. Tried the soba forms, ramen forms, noodles where you dip in a sauce before slurping, black garlic broth, noodles to keep dry on a mat. Honestly thought that would be the end of it. But Mazemen is a Japanese noodle dish that was intriguing. The dish itself is ramen but before the soup. This is meant to swirl in everything after adding an oil sauce to it. If there was a form of ugly but delicious eating, this was it. Any ramen enthusiast would be skeptical about trying it brothless. The oil sauce was a nice touch and it balanced all the items nicely. Only at this corner of Flushing can you find this specialty. I've had my fair share of 30 ramen spots in NYC and only hold 3 in my preferred list. This experience was worth the trip. Also enjoy the fun variations to your usual Japanese dishes: like the butter garlic edamame, the grilled corn cheese, and that sake infused red sangria. Nom nom nom to the max.
Beat Mazesoba is SO UNDERRATED how come no one raves about this spot on social media??? It is such a hidden gem specialized in mazesoba in Flushing near the Broadway LIRR Station. I am so hyped and keep telling my friends how delicious their food are. THEY DESERVE MORE BUZZ!! ＊Beat Mazemen*** The signature mazemen itself deserves all the stars. It is a brothless hot soba topped with marinated ground pork, thickly cut pork belly, nori, onsen egg, and half ramen egg. I suggest mixing the ramen first and add the vinegar when you are halfway through. They serve a mini bowl of rice on the side for you to clean every drip of the flavorful sauce. ＊Tuna Yukke Bowl The tuna bowl is topped with hearty chunks of raw tuna, cucumber and shredded tamago. Shoyu on the side. It is like a giant poke bowl. ＊Shoyu Ramen Although they are more known for mazesoba, their ramen is also delicious. They have options like miso, shoyu, shio and kimchi ramen.
I came to Beat Mazesoba to try the burger here, I promise. But got tempted by Niku Soba. It's good. Biggest kept secret on Northern Blvd and 162nd St! I love ramen here, of course. But happy there are also other options, like the Niku Soba. Next time, I really do want to try the burger here!! lol
The restaurant was empty when we got there but it filled up by the time we left. This was a sign that this restaurant probably catered to patrons that eat later. We got there for a 7p reservation. Majority of the party ordered the different Madison's to try. Apparently there is a way to eat it so ask your server or maybe your server will ask if you need to be shown what to do. Overall, the food was good and everyone left happy in the tummy!
Think I've been here over 10 times now. I love their mazemen. Especially more than Okonomi Yuji's. They'll give you a bowl of rice to scoop up the remaining sauce when you're done with the noodles. Some of their appetizers are lackluster, but their staple, the mazemen, is fantastic. Their fries are battered which are the best kind IMO.
We stumbled into Beat Mazesoba earlier this week because we were starving. The spicy ramen we order was good but the rib eye steak we order was well done when we told the server that we wanted our steak medium rare. The gravy on top of the ribeye has a great taste to it. Overall the service was great. The food was decent.

***Disgusting money gouging new management *** Ive been a long and loyal customer. I may not have dined in, but I would always order from Doordash every week or every other week. I recently tried to order again but then i noticed a huge price increase to their items. I thought it was some kind of mistake because theres no way they would increase their prices and keep their food the same. So when I called, one of the staff told me they changed management and they had increased the price due to the new management. So then I asked, well has the portioned changed? The staff member apologized and said knows its mad expensive and regrets to inform me that the portions were still the same. It went from $17 to $20 for a Shoyu Mazemen on Doordash. Thats an insane jump. Whoever the owner is, bring back your old management or bring down your prices. Whoever made my orders in the past should know that Im the one with the dairy allergy and ALWAYS orders two Shoyu Mazemens on Doordash. Its sad that one of my favorite places to order from has lost its support due to their greedy new management. read more
Yes!! A new ramen shop in the area, and it's actually good! I don't usually give five stars on a first review, I would say this is more like a 4-4.5 but bumping it up to support new local businesses during this time. Overall a pretty good new shop around the area, mix some yummy noodles! I haven't has mazemen before so wasn't completely sure what to expect, it came out surprisingly good! The flavor was just right for me, my friend thought it was a bit heavy, but I liked it :) They check your temperature when you walk in, there's seating in the back but it gets a little busy. Very friendly staff! They'll explain how to eat it if it's your first time trying! So rip the seaweed first and mix everything, try the flavoring and then add some vinegar based on your liking to try a different taste. I personally thought it was good as is without adding vinegar. They also have a small cup of rice for you to mix in at the end with the left over sauce. Good spot to check out if you are looking for something new in the area. I'd come back again to try some other kinds of noodles! read more
Came here on a Wednesday night and was seated quite quickly. The restaurant was about half full and everyone had a mazesoba bowl in front of them at all of their tables, easily directing our choices to order soba for ourselves. The sake sangria tasted just like juice - it was really fruity and delicious in my opinion ( I love fruity drinks ). The banh mi fries were *really* well made - not only were the flavors really fantastic, but the fries were just really crispy and perfect. The mazesoba was also amazing - there are instructions on the menu for how to eat it ( I regret not taking a picture! Something along the lines of pour in vinegar, mix, then add in rice at the end once the noodles are eaten ) and the taste really was quite amazing. The beat mazesoba is a combination of two of their mazesobas in terms of toppings so I'd love to come back to try both individually. Their cheesecake was also very light and really hit the the spot after such a great meal. The ice cream went along with the cheesecake really well too, making it the perfect finish. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely be stopping by! read more
Beat Mazesoba is perhaps the way forward for pandemic (and post-pandemic) dining in NYC. Temperature check at door, ask for a name and number for contact tracing (JIC), hand sanitizers on table, well ventilated outdoor dining, masks worn by staff - all possible precautions and protocols. Currently only outdoor dining - and if you get a choice I would say take a spot in the back away from the busy traffic where Northern/Crocheron meets. They set up a high ceiling portico completely open on one side and windows on another. Plenty of plants in between diners for functional and beautiful barriers. It gave me a sense of normalcy over the refugee camps many restaurants setup in the streets outside their restaurant. The hipster-ish vibe is apparent with the dulcet tones of Lana Del Rey playing in the background, an assortment of beers from local craft brewery Finback and attentive service - perhaps to the disappointment to many of my foodie friends that expect and like their Flushing restaurants to be inexpensive, abundant food with gruff service and grungy environments. I had many friends joke that the grungier the place then the better the food (surprisingly true!) - ha, well that doesn't fly in the COVID age! Ordered our drinks - Yuzu Matcha and Sapporo (on tap!). The Chicken Nanban was a great start - crispy, juicy chicken with a nice slightly sweet sour coating. I truly enjoyed my Beat Mazeman with its mixture of yuzu that complimented the shoyu - a very comforting and filing dish. I added vinegar here and there which added another dimension of flavor and the rice at the end to soak up whatever was left. I tasted the broth of the miso ramen and didn't care too much for the flavor. Overall you can see much thought, time and caring has been put into this establishment from the food to the environment. Beat Mazesoba is a new restaurant that stands out from most other noodle shops by bringing polished interpretations of mazesoba (Japanese mixed noodles; pronounced "Ma-Zay-So-Ba") to Flushing. Beat executes capably in taste and presentation. Their mazemen noodles are substantive, have an excellent chew, and hold sauce well. Some flavor profiles at Beat may be unfamiliar to Western palettes (ginger fried chicken comes straight to mind), but everything here is worth a try. It feels like Beat Mazesoba is in its own tier. Dishes We've Had: - Yuzu Shio Mazemen ($16): Impressive (5/5). This dish is delivered with a bottle of yuzu vinegar (?) and a small side of white rice (oimeshi). The pork chashu used here and in the pork baos is a thick cut, lean and a bit dry. As explained in the menu, there is a unique way to eat the Yuzu Mazemen: 1. Break the poached egg and mix everything together. 2. Taste. 3. Add yuzu vinegar to taste. My preference is for a touch of yuzu vinegar, as the noodles are very good without it, but your preference (or sense of adventure) may differ. 4. When noodles are done, add the oimeshi to the bowl to mop up any remaining sauce. - Curry Mazemen ($16): Very Good (4/5). Delivered with oimeshi. The light curry focuses more on flavor, with little or no heat. - Ginger Karaage ($8): Very Good (4/5); lightly fried dark meat pieces with a good infusion of ginger flavor. - Kim Chi Pork Baos ($9): Very Good (3.5/5); though the spice profiles from the sriracha mayo and the kimchi seem to clash. - Chicken Nanban ($8): Very Good (4/5); sweet, slightly tart and spicy fried dark meat pieces. The version we received was more deeply-fried than the Ginger Karaage. Beat's version of Chicken Nanban omits the tartar sauce that traditionally comes with the dish, but the chicken does stand on its own. - Unbeatable Pickles ($5): OK (3/5). A simple dish of paper-thin lotus root slices with raw onions in a lightly-flavored beet juice brine. - Sake Sangria ($9): OK (3/5). Could have used more fruit. Logistics: - The restaurant requires a temperature check before being seated. - There is a bottle of hand sanitizer on every table. - Beat Mazesoba has outdoor seating in front and back of the restaurant. We prefer the front seating while the weather is temperate and dry, because it is sufficiently distanced from the bustle of Northern Boulevard, and has more air circulation than the backyard seating. We had tried a table for two in the back, but backyard space seems a bit louder due to noise from the volume of people and the restaurant's air conditioner compressor. - There are three metered parking spots in the front of the restaurant. Parking there is limited to one hour, and the meters run through 10 PM Monday to Saturday. Free parking may be found on the surrounding side-streets. read more
We came on a weekday shortly after opening, and it was very quiet! One other party who came before us. I ordered the beat mazeman, my friend ordered shoyu ramen. We also ordered karage to share. We thought the portion size for the noodles were pretty big. The karage was pretty good too. It was my first time trying this style of ramen - mazeman. It's ok if you don't know how to eat it because if you ask the waiters, they kindly explain it to you. While the sauce was a strong mix of flavors, I thought it was a little spicy, even though they told me it was not spicy prior to ordering. It didn't make it or break it for me, but a little disappointed that they couldn't have told me it was a bit spicy. I didn't finish my food because of that. My spice tolerance is low and I probably would have ordered another dish. read more

Huge shoutout to this establishment for taking COVID precautions seriously and making their customers feel safe while dining out. They do temperature checks, require masks, provide hand sanitizer, and leave a good distance between tables. My boyfriend and I arrived on a Saturday a little after they opened and was greeted by a really friendly waitress who seated us and gave us our menus. Everything looked so promising and we were pretty indecisive about which appetizer to choose because they have curated such classic tapas. Ultimately, we ended up getting the Salmon Tartare and I am so glad we did because it was definitely the highlight of our meal. For $11, you get 4 pieces of spicy salmon, roe, and avocado on a wasabi chip. The salmon was really fresh and the slight wasabi flavor and crunch from the chip made this so enjoyable. There were so many flavors all combined into one bite! This appetizer set the bar really high for the rest of the food we were having. I'm already thinking of having one entire order to myself the next time I stop by! I ordered the Shoyu Mazemen ($16) which comes with pork soboro, scallions, chives, and a poached egg. There's a series of steps on how to eat the mazemen and our waitress was attentive and enthusiastic to explain how it is done. For those who have never had mazemen before, first you rip the seaweed and mix everything in the bowl together. Next, do a taste test and add vinegar to your liking. Then add the rice and do one final mix before indulging. The noodles were just the right texture with a good bite to it. When mixed with the other ingredients and rice, it was the perfect amount of sauce and flavor. My boyfriend got the Miso Ramen ($19) which comes with chashu, chicken soboro, bean sprouts, and egg. He mentioned how savory the broth was and how generous they were with the pork slices and toppings. Lastly, we got the Yuzu Matcha Lemonade ($5) which didn't disappoint. Amazing food! I've been here twice already for the past week and will def come back soon. I went there with a group of friends and we tried Shoyu Mazeman, Curry Mazeman, Shoyu Ramen, and Miso Ramen as a main dish, and Banh Mi fries and fish taco as an appetizer. I've never had Mazeman but it was super good!! My husband and I looked at each other after first bite. Shoyu Mazeman is made with thick noodle (like udon), marinated minced meat (reminded me of chorizo), veggies (arugula leaf), and an egg. They gave me a bowl of white rice which you can mix with the remaining sauce after you finish the noodle. If you don't like the strong taste, you can mix a little by little. Appetizers were good too. Bahn Mi fries were my favorite but they had other interesting appetizers such as Kara-age chicken and Bao buns. If you are a big Asian food fan (especially Japanese), then I strongly recommend trying Mazeman. **Street Parking **Staffs were attentive and kind **Nice cozy space. They do have big long tables but recommended for a small group (4 people). **You can make a reservation but it wasn't too busy on Friday night around 7pm. **For Shoyu ramen, they can give you spicy sauce on the side. read more
Saw this new ramen spot on Yelp and was intrigued by the high ratings and reviews. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating which is great. Their outdoor seating is actually more like just a room in the back since it's enclosed with windows and a door too. They also have heat which is great for chilly nights. I actually prefer the decor of the outdoor seating area too. For food, they offer mazemen (which is like a dry noodle dish), ramen, soba, and rice bowls along with appetizers. I went with the beat mazemen since I never tried mazemen before and the flavor profile was amazing! The noodles were thick and chewy and caught on to the sauce very well. There was a good amount of saltiness and they also provide vinegar with it which helps add a contrast of sourness. At the end, you're supposed to mix in the small bowl of rice that they provide on the side which really helps to soak up the remainder of the sauce. The rice was also of very good quality too. The beat mazemen came with pork soboro (basically minced pork) and chashu. I really enjoyed the chashu. It had the right amount of meat/fat ratio and was super tender! The poached egg was also perfect. Great presentation (of both the restaurant decor and the food) and tasty food. The only comment that I have is that the portions could be bigger. My friends left still hungry but they enjoyed the flavor of everything. read more
Very comfortable outside and inside seating. Extra bonus is that they added "mazemen Mondays" where any mazemen is $12 the entire Monday, and Monday- Friday happy hour which has 50% off draft beers, 50% carafe, and $2 off all canned beers. The food is also good. Personally I don't like mazemen but I like their ramen and appetizers. They sell some of the best craft beers in town. My only complain is, for some reason it always feels so stuffy/warm in there, they may need to clean the vents! read more

This is a personal preference but I just thought that the dry ramen felt a bit too much? There's a lot going on with the toppings and sauce and the flavors are concentrated without the liquid to balance it out. The Yuzu one was better than the mixed one because the acidity helped lighten and lift the dish a bit. The noodles itself was great with a nice chewy texture. We also got the ribs, which was also very heavy and over seasoned. Overall, a great place if you enjoy strong flavors. I do appreciate the creative menu (bahn mi french fries)! read more
I've been here maybe 5 times in the past month already because it's so damn good. (Take out is also available!) Let's get to it: HIGHLY recommended: - Beat Mazeman - it's a combo of their yuzu and shoyu flavors in one bowl, SOOOOOO good and the pork is succulent. Just amazing. Their mazeman is like ramen but without the broth... but with so many flavors and sauces that you don't even miss the broth! The noodles are chewy and I usually don't finish a bowl of ramen but this I always finish. - Yuzu Mazeman - because yuzu is always good - Sake Ikura Soba (or appetizer or rice, or order all 3 because these salmon sashimi pieces are big fat and juicy) - Curry Mazeman - if you like something a little more spicy, this is a great option, also has a distinct flavor of its own - Chicken Nanban - fried chicken but with sauce! - Fish Tacos - flavorful and crunchy They have a temperature scanner for your forehead at the entrance as well as a log book for 1 person in your party to write your contact info in case of a Covid outbreak. There's a huge outdoor terrace kind of area for outdoor seating in the back too! Excellent sake and drinks as well. Staff is friendly and will explain how to mix the noodles once you get your order! I was looking for a ramen place for lunch and found Beat Mazesoba on Yelp. They are newly opened with high ratings, so I decided to give it a try. Being in Queens, there is no dine in option unless they restaurant has outdoor seating. Fortunately, Beat Mazesoba has a few tables on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant as well as a backyard covered under a tent. It was late afternoon, so there was not much of a crowd. We were seated quickly. We ordered: Kimchee Pork Baos - Pork belly inside a steamed bao. This was very savory, but the kimchee provided an unexpected kick in terms of acid and spice. Unbeatable Pickles - this was a hit. Pickled lotus roots and jalapenos that are purple in color. Chicken Kara-age - this was the typical japanese fried chicken. Chicken Nanban - take the Chicken Kara-age and coat it in some sweet and spicy sauce and you get the wonderful creation. Miso Ramen - Tasty ramen. They were very generous with the slices of pork. Beat Mazemen - I have never had this before. Apparently, it is ramen noodles without the broth. There is a poached egg that you mix with the ramen along with some vinegar. This was a little different than what I was used to, but its an acquired taste. Ambience/Decor: Outdoors under a tent. There were a lot of mosquitoes in the afternoon. To the staff's credit, they were lighting up mosquito repellants. Food: The ramen hit the spot. The chicken kara-age and chicken nanban satisfied my fried chicken cravings. The pickles were the highlight. Service: The service was excellent. Staff was very friendly and attentive. TL/DR: Flushing has a new ramen shop in town ... my new go to "Unbeatable Pickles" place. read more

So happy there's a new ramen spot in this neighborhood! Stopped by for dinner on a weeknight and we were seated immediately. I took comfort in seeing the staff taking covid precautions seriously (employees wore masks, temperature taken prior to being seated, and hand sanitizer was provided on each table). For appetizers we ordered the a yakitori (skewers) and guac and chips. Chicken yakitori did not disappoint. The chicken was extremely tender and paired perfectly with the fried garlic and sauce. Guacamole and Chips was standard, nothing special here. I opted for the Shoyu Mazemen and my bf ordered the spicy miso ramen. The shoyu ramen came with a side of rice and vinegar. It was a nice experience trying the mazemen. I enjoyed the taste with the rice combined with all the other ingredients. The food was good but the service was GREAT. Our waitress was so attentive throughout the entire meal. Can't wait to come back! read more

I've been meaning to try this place ever since they opened and finally had a chance tonight to have a quick date with the husband. We opted to sit in the back since we didn't want to be in the front with all the cars driving by and people walking. The back felt a bit cramped with the tables and all the plants they had. Almost every table was taken. There were 2 tables on the inside that were taken as well. The decor in the backyard was nice and you can even feel safe sitting there when it rains. We ordered 3 appetizers: fish tacos, chicken nanban, shisito peppers. For entrees we ordered: Beat mazemen and sukiyaki don For the drinks I got the yuzu matcha while the husband just drank tap water. The food overall was great. The beat mazemen was a bit too salty for me but mixing the rice with the sauce made it a little better. There's just a lot of carbs (noodles&rice) in that mazemen but it was tasty. I had a piece of the sukiyaki and the flavor was good. I really like the chicken nanban and the fish tacos was not bad even though I'm not a fish fan. That says a lot. I thought it was pricey here but will come back to try some sake and other dishes with some friends. If you have a group of 5 or more you can reserve a table. Also I wished they would show the tip % of the total before taxes instead of the total after taxes. read more

Came here on an early Saturday night with a group of friends. The restaurant followed all pandemic requirements like wearing a mask, taking temperatures, etc. We were offered to choose whether we wanted to sit inside or outside. We opted for outdoor dining in the back. To be honest, it was basically indoor dining since it was still a closed space without the warmth. However, they had heating lamps and the decor was really cute so we were really cozy. The staff were really nice and helpful. They asked if it was our first time here and since it was, they gave us recommendations and what they personally like. I ordered their spicy miso ramen and I really enjoyed it. The pork looked and tasted different, but it was a good different. It was flavorful and it wasn't dry. The noodles weren't soggy and had a great texture to it. For me, this portion is perfect, but for my friends, it was not enough, which is why I am giving this restaurant 4 stars. Overall though, the food was delicious! Just wished they had a bigger portion for the price. read more
A unique type of soba where you have toppings over udon texture like noodle and mixed with/without vinegar. We ordered beat Mazesoba which has pork belly and minced meat, and curry Mazesoba (minced meat). I like the flavor, and with all different ingredient there's a unique taste to every bite. However I feel like the onion and garlic has too much spice that dominate over the flavor of the sauce. And somehow towards the end even with such spice the overall dish become too "greasy" to me. However it's still a good dish and there's a small bowl of rice and you can mix it with the left over meat sauce. This is pretty much my friend and my go to place when we're in the area. We've been a couple times in the day and it's usually pretty quiet, but gets kind of crowded around the evening dinner time. So first off this restaurant has two tables outside but mostly inside. They are very strict with Covid which made me feel safe. They require information for contact tracing and temperature checks recorded before entering. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The restaurant also looked clean. The water also recommended a good sake and helped us put with a better deal than what was on the menu which was nice. For the food I ordered the beat masezsoba since that is the name. Full disclosure I did have them make it with chicken. O wasn't a big fan of the flavor of it and it may have been my own personal taste. Great food and service on the Northern Boulevard! Came in with my friend for a quick lunch. Ordered two starters for sharing and one ramen each. The ribs are truly amazing, with amazing sweet and sour sauce on it. The fired chicken is not so juicy but still worth a try. The best part is the ramen. I had the one with a raw egg with it. Mixing the egg in the ramen adds more flavor in it, and neutralize the salty flavor from the ramen and pork. My friend orders the yuzu ramen and it really has a strong fresh yuzu flavor in it. We have tried more than 50 restaurants of Japanese ramen but this is the very first time to try the yuzu ramen. The dishes are normal Japanese ramen restaurant sizes and, as for a party of 2, 2 or 3 starters and one bowl ramen for each would be enough. Ordinary price but amazing taste! I came here during the end of summer. They have a really cute outdoor backyard patio for those who want to dine in and there's self temperature check at the front door. My table got the chicken kara-age, beat mazeman, Shoyu ramen, beef niku soba. My favorite was the beat mazeman, which was a combination of the shoyu and Yuzu Shio. I didn't enjoy the beef or ramen too much, but that just might be me. The second time I came here I tried the Curry Mazemen which was really great also. This place opened a few weeks ago. I noticed them on Northern driving by and then stumbled upon it on yelp. Our group of 4 got a bit of everything: - chips and guac (why not) - unbeatable pickles - Chicken Nanban - Yusu Mazemen - Shoyu Mazemen - Veggie Mazemen - Spicy miso ramen Everything was delicious! The food was on par with Japanese fusion eateries in Manhattan. And a fair price point too. Despite being understaffed and very busy on Labor Day, the food did not take long to come out. The outdoor backyard patio was nice and breezy. It's not a huge space on the patio but we did appreciate the tree dividers for more privacy among parties. I came here with a party of 5 altogether with a reservation on a friday night at 8:30PM. Before we got seated, they took our temperatures with a standing machine to make sure we were good to go. It was easy and quick. We were seated in the back patio that was decorated nicely to make it feel like a little garden, with bench seating. There is hand sanitizer provided, mask requirements, etc that make you feel safer dining here. Our waitress was kind and gave us a few recommendations when ordering, since it was our first time here. Appetizers we got were chicken nanban, chicken karaage, kimchi pork tacos, and a few yakitoris. They were all pretty decent and tasty, no complaints. I've had better chicken nanban before with a mayo-like dipping sauce I prefer -- the sauce they used here was on the sweeter side. Entrees we ordered: Beat Mazemen, Tuna Yukke Soba, Sukiyaki Don, Curry Mazemen. We enjoyed all of our dishes, as they all tasted very fresh. Portions are pretty large, especially for the sukiyaki don. The mazemen is fun to eat, especially for the first time. You first mix everything together, taste it, then add the homemade vinegar, and then theres rice for you to mix it all in with at the end if you'd like. It's basically ramen without the broth, but has very interesting flavors. I personally really liked the homemade vinegar that is given with the ramen, as it makes the flavors really pop out. The ramen itself had a great texture did not get soggy at any point. For drinks, we got the Fat Mango (mango sticky rice beer) to try and it was pretty good! It was certainly something unique and there is a hint of coconut aftertaste to it which was a nice surprise. Altogether, this is a great place to chill with friends to catch up in a pretty casual setting. Went back recently on a Saturday night. Restaurant was dead but there was a kid screaming and running around. Honestly the place has changed a lot. Got the beat mazesoba, it was so salty and garlicy I felt it the next day. Honestly was so bad. The apps were pretty good tho. Got the fries and karage. Service was mid. Need some help on it. Ambiance was quiet, no music just voices echoing. Overall need some change I think or else they'll run out of business. read more
A nice/different addition to Northern Blvd. Dishes we got that I'd also recommend: -The yuzu shio mazeman. The fattiness really soaked up all the umami/savory flavors in these bite-size chunks of chasiu. There is a really nice balance of flavors between the juicy pork & the fresh arugula. -Yuzu matcha iced tea: honestly, anything with yuzu is guaranteed to be good. This refreshing drink was no exception. -Chicken karage: just as anything with yuzu is good, anything that's fried well is also a safe bet. Not Your Typical RAMEN We came here on. Saturday night to dine in and the place was surprisingly full! I found out about this place through their giveaway campaign on Instagram, Although I didn't win, their noodles were worth a visit. I ordered the beat mazeman, one of their signatures. It isn't soupy at all but a really saucy soba noodle with pork, egg, seaweed, and other different vegetables. You can pour as much vinegar as you like (I only put a little) into the noodles and it really makes the dish. They give you rice at the end to eat with the remaining sauce. The dishes are a bit more on the pricy side as the Beat Mazeman was $19 and my friend was still hungry after his meal. I went to Beat Mazesoba with my friend for lunch. Here's how it went: Atmosphere: ~ Nice indoor space and an even better outdoor patio which I would opt for if the weather was warmer. We stayed indoors since it was too cold. Service: ~ Service was a bit slow during the time we went. This might've been due to not having enough staff at the time, but otherwise the server and host was kind and attentive in explaining how to eat the mazemen and letting us know when the food was coming out. Food and Drinks: Matcha Yuzu Lemonade: So refreshing and an absolute must!! It's not too sweet and the yuzu and matcha are blended together perfectly. Tempura Fish Tacos: These were delicious! The fish was cooked perfectly with a delicious fried crust and some of the best I've ever had. I'd recommend this as an appetizer. Pork Belly Bao Buns: The pork belly was tender and delicious and went will with the spicy mayo. Overall a solid appetizer. Yuzu Shio Mazemen ~The noodles are made of wheat with a thicker consistency and a good chew ~ The chashu was tender with a great meat to fat ratio ~ The poached egg added a flavorful creaminess to the overall dish ~ I was already stuffed finishing the last of the noodles but made room to eat the leftover sauce and ingredients with rice ~ The only thing I wished the dish had was more yuzu flavor Deals they have: ~ $12 Mazemen on Mondays ~ Weekday 12 pm - 6 pm Happy Hour Drink deals My overall consensus is that I will definitely be returning for these dishes and to try new ones! read more
We went there for Friday late dinner. The ambiance is pretty cozy and service is fine. Everything came up ready fast. For the drink, we ordered peach soju that is sweet and chilly, perfect with appetizers. Bahn-mi fries is a surprise for me. It has a lot of spicy mayo, cilantro, and peppers on top, but very tasty. Kara-age fried chicken bite is in good size. No bone and crispy. We also ordered chicken wings in 2 different sauces- namban and sweet & chili. Both are delish. For the highlight of menu, we had Beat mazemen and classic shio ramen. There are more choices in mazemen than regular soup ramen. The restaurant uses different kinds of noodles for dry and soup bowls. Noodle itself is quite al dente. They are not traditional Japanese style noodles. Beat mazemen is a bit salty and complex for me. Classic shio ramen has a lot of bamboo shoots and black wood ears and too yum to stop eating it all. Overall, I give it 5 stars for today's dining experience and look forward to coming back to try different dishes. read more

I'm actually a big fan of dryer noodles so having the beauty of well cooked thick noodles without broth was nice and delicious. We've been meaning to come here and finally checked it out. For appetizers - the pork belly bao buns were tasty but might've had a sweet taste to it. The banh mi fries were cooked well - fries stayed crispy even with sauce and toppings. I got the curry mazeman as my husband got the beat mazeman. It was a nice Japanese curry flavor (esp when you added a little vinegar) and pretty addictive. The noodles were cooked well and I liked the chewiness of them. All of the flavors went nicely together and the portion was generous (had a bit leftover). There are some gluten free items like the meat appetizers and veggies. You'll have to skip the noodles and rice but there are definitely some items.

There were a few when I went. Also some stuff may be customized to be meatless.

Our ramen is a little more generous than the traditional ramen size. Our mazemen is also great portion especially it pairs with a little rice at the end. I would say both ramen and mazemen is a good meal size.
