Creampuffs have an unassuming elegance. A humble golden dome crown that belies the richness within. A perfectly crisp exterior, christened with a dusting of powdered sugar like the first frost of winter. Inside, a voluptuous cream that exists both light and airy, and yet dense and rich. A cloud of perfection. Each bite an experience in texture and taste, crispiness of the pastry and cool, luxurious cream. Beard Papa is the reliable and quintessential standard.

The first time I had Beard Papa's was yearssss ago in Boston and when I heard that they had a location in Queens, I was so excited. This one is located on the basement level of Skyview Mall, towards the end where you would turn in for the supermarket. It's kind of easy to miss since they also share the space with Gong Cha. There's a few seats for you inside for those who want to eat it there but it's more of a grab and go item. They take your order and fill the shells with cream on the spot so it's basically made fresh to order. It also keeps the shell crispy so there's a lovely texture contrast when you eat it with the delicious filling. I love their cream puffs cause they don't skimp on the cream (it literally oozes out with each bite). I also love their flavored shells (taro, oreo, strawberry, etc.) cause the glaze is delicious and does capture its intended flavor. The cream inside is also yummy. I highly recommend eating it as soon as possible, if not immediately, for prime freshness. I usually eat it within minutes of getting it (especially in the summer when it's suuuper hot out) and it does not disappoint!

After attending an event here, whenever I go into this mall I stop at bears pappas, yup it's that good especially when you get the pastry with ice cream in the middle mmmmm. Service is always good, helpful and quick.

Beard Papa's cream puffs always have a special place in my heart. They're light, fluffy, and airy - basically, everything a cream puff should be. Over the years, I've sampled a variety of their small cream puffs, and they never disappoint. On a recent visit, I decided to try their green tea cream puff and strawberry cream puff. Both came out slightly cold, making them the perfect snack for a hot summer day. * Strawberry Cream Puff ($4.2) The best way I can describe this is like strawberry Pocky in cream puff format. Fluffy, light, and airy - it's like biting into a strawberry cloud. Didn't realize this was a limited flavor when I tried this but super happy I got it. Prefer this better than the green tea flavor. * Green Tea Cream Puff ($4.1) The green tea topping/glaze has a strong white chocolate taste rather than green tea. I was hoping for a bolder green tea flavor here. Good thing I filled it with green tea, which was pretty standard - think green tea Pocky vibes. If you haven't tried Beard Papa's yet, you're seriously missing out. These cream puffs are a dream come true!

I don't remember the cream puffs being so cold. The green tea was flavorful but nothing special. The s'mores had vanilla custard and it was average. I liked that the custard is light, smooth and airy.

Little shop hidden in the corner. Shared space. Light and airy cream puffs. Special flavors of the week? and the basic ones. Strawberry is seasonal flavor. Limited seating in the store. No wait service. Order and pickup at the counter. Cashier tries to be friendly and help

It's been a while but the food has never changed. My go-to cream puffs are: 1. Honey butter 2. Green tea 3. Oreo 4. S'mores I'm not into cream puffs like that but everytime in skyview i crave it and have to get it!

Awesome cream puffs! I love their custard-like cream filling with crunchy outside. Tried original and green tea flavor and both are really delicious!! Quick service and easy to walk in and take out your puffs of choice!

My friend grabbed these puffs on her way back from NYC. After an 4-hour drive, these puffs still tasted great. I don't really know the names of the puffs so I'll just break them down by color. Chocolate looking puff: the cream and the chocolate complement each other so well! The cream oozes out from the side after each bite. Green looking puff: the taste was good. This was the only puff that I heated it up a bit and the flavors are still there. Pink looking puff: my mom ate the pink one and said every bite was rich in flavor. I really liked the fact that each bite essentially had three layers of flavor: sweet, creamy, and a bit of a pastry taste on the bottom of each bite. When I visit NYC, I would love to try these puffs when they're hot and fresh!

Purple ube with green tea ice cream was so delicious!! My friend got the cheesecake and it was really small but really yummy

It was a great reminder of when we had them in Japan! Not overly sweet, very fluffy and light, and the crust was flaky. It's inside the mall and seafood market so you will be surrounded by those smells. The service was very nice and helpful in our order.

Creme Brulee Puff with Vanilla Filling

This location of Beard Papa's is located downstairs in Skyview Mall, partially sharing its space/seating area with the Gong Cha next-door. Although it has a pretty small setup, the service was quite quick. There are some tables and chairs for indoor seating, but the chairs are very visibly soiled/dirty. Another thing to note is that you'll need to hit the $5 minimum before you can pay with credit card. Creme Brulee Puff with Vanilla Filling: At first glance, the cream puff is significantly smaller than what I'm used to during my visits to other Bears Papa's locations in the past, which was a bit disappointing. It was nice that the creme brulee portion of the puff was warm, in contrast to the cooler filling inside. The vanilla filling was not too sweet at all, which was pleasant.

Came here to try the chocolate cream puff with vanilla powder. It taste sweet and fragile. The texture was smooth. Service was good and the place is clean. Has many other options. Many flavours for cream puffs. Suitable for a small dessert.

The actual space is pretty nice and gives a family restaurant in a good way. It was a little awkward with the waitresses, who seemed to be on the quieter side, but nonetheless, they were kind. I got the abalone in the ponzu sauce ($8) and the wagyu beef sukiyaki lunch set ($21). The abalone was actually really good, and as my first time trying something like that, it was well worth it. The wagyu set was also pretty filling and very much worth the price. It came with a salad, an egg soufflé, sliced lotus root, pickled ginger, and rice. The actual sukiyaki was light and slightly sweet, but refreshing. I love that they packed it with vegetables in the sukiyaki. They even give you a complimentary ice cream at the end of your meal. The only thing that docked a point for me was that one other table, and I was the only one present at the restaurant, and there were two waitresses, and I believe another man was working, not too sure what his role was. All three of them would continuously check up on the other table, whereas I would have to flag them down if I needed anything. I noticed them making small conversation with the other table, but they would not really speak to me. It felt a little weird, given that we were the only two tables and somehow they had three people check up on them, and I had zero. The servers were still nice when I flagged them down, but it was just a little strange to be given that treatment. I'm hoping it was just an off day, as I do want to go back and try the other items. The menu was extensive, so I'm really interested in seeing what the other items are like.

The menu should be revised so customers who can't read Japanese know exactly what they're ordering. For the 180 dollars I spent this was an extremely disappointing experience. A majority of the food received did not look like the photos on the menu. The meat was low quality and seemed cheap. The portions were tiny and you have to keep ordering multiple of the same things. Unlike Korean bbq or Chinese bbq when you're ordering the portions given are just sample size. 3 to 4 small cut portions of meat. The chicken wings served look nothing like the photos and are honestly really bad. When checking out my bill had an extra drink on it that I never ordered and it took 15 mins to be corrected. It felt like they thought I was lying and needed to review video or something because I had 3 other waiters come talk to me while I waited for a resolution. The best part of the experience was the marshmallows we got at the end and the free fruit provided but I wouldn't recommend this spot to anyone nor would I want to come back in the future If these are the standards the restaurant goes by

The ingredients of each roll in the display case is labeled in English and Chinese. We visited a few times and have had the Manhattan roll and a small assortment of other rolls by the pound. The sushi pieces are well-constructed -- attractive, of a good size and tightly packed; however food-coloring seems to be used in at least one of the rolls. I prefer getting take-out to dining in at New York Food Court; the food court has a strong odor that reminds me of a workplace restroom. I ordered a tuna avocado roll, and instead of getting whole pieces of tuna, the tuna was chopped up. I asked one of the servers about it, and he told me they were end pieces left over from sashimi cuts. When I asked why I wasn't given whole pieces of tuna, his response was basically that the fish was edible and, if I didn't want to eat the roll, then don't eat it. Then he just walked away. He never offered to replace the roll or asked if I wanted something else. As I was leaving, I spoke to the manager because there had been a small dog next to me sitting on a pillow on a chair and at the table. I mentioned that I didn't believe dogs were allowed inside restaurants unless they were service animals and that this clearly appeared to be a pet. Her response was, "All dogs are service dogs," and that it wasn't a big deal. That attitude bothered me more than anything else. When both the server and the manager dismiss a customer's concerns instead of trying to address them, it makes you question the overall standards of the restaurant.
