The cabin was breath taking but the food was total disappointment. The lamp carpaccio was dry. Salad dressing was blah. My tenderloin, which I ordered medium rare was over cooked, and dry. My husband got the scallops was not fresh and was not seared properly. Mushy. The sauce that came with it was too over powering. Forget about the chocolate cake.. how can you even screw that up. Very nice restaurant, unique mountain dining experience, but overrated. The staff is great, the food is delicious one of the best in town, but the ammount of food you getting is very little for the price you are paying (specially the foie gras, i did not want to believe its size, do not order it). I have never got this tiny portion anywhere else before, on top of it, my tiny goose liver came out raw and bloody, so i had to ask them to cook it longer. They seem like being very much under staffed, so you will have to wait pretty long in btw courses, we spent there close to three hours to finish our dinner which is way too long time with little children. I guess with the small portions this is the only way guests do not to leave the place hungry.. Everything tasted delicious and the bone marrow we ordered extra - as it is not part of the menu from where you can order for their fixed price -, was best part of the meal, was so good, really worth ordering.. . The food was nice, and the service was decent. It was an experience but honestly it does not worth the money you are going to pay for it.

The food overall was yummy and enjoyable, though the lasagna wasn't our favorite. That said, the incredible atmosphere, unique sleigh ride, and mountain setting made this a memorable experience we'll be talking about for a long time. I would say it got down to 50 degrees at night, but they provide an extra comfy bed with tons of blankets! We were extremely comfortable! They had full bathrooms with the tent. So shower, working toilet, and sink with hot water! They had a cooler with ice ready for us upon arrival. The cooler had cold water bottles and coffee creamer. They also had lanterns fully charged for us. They had a coffee maker with sugars. The tent is situated on top of a deck off the ground. Can walk barefoot around the tent area. At night, you can see all thr stars and milkyway (as long as it is a clear night). They have a ton of activities to take advantage of! We went on the ATV tour in the morning, and it was absolutely worth it. Shout out to Above and Beyond Tour! Thank you to Greg for the fun tour and Craig! Highly recommend the ATV tour! Also, we did the horseback riding! Wonderful and friendly staff and horses! I had King Kong, he was quite the snacker! My bf had Mohab. BEAUTIFUL VIEWS at this ranch. Wide open skies and mountainous landscapes with a rich history! Don't skip on this place! Run, don't walk, to book a reservation. We stayed 2 nights, and wish our trip was longer so we could have stayed longer. We did go on a night hike with the lanters. They have chairs out on some trails to enjoy that big starry night sky. This is definitely a place we would love to return to!

While in Vail for a quick getaway for a short weekend, I found this on a whim. As lucky as I felt I also got to learn about their history that is ending soon come end of September 2026 due to the owners' difficulties in renewing their lease with Denver Water. This ranch is an event place, paddle boarding place, hiking paradise, wild animal watching, etc. all in one. Per the information I read, the current owners have operated it for the last 15 years. This is one of the iconic places when it comes the outdoorsy stuff you can do in Vail. I wanted to do the hike to the waterfall and yet as sooo. As I learned from one of the workers that it takes about 6 hours to complete the whole round trip journey, I regrettably forego the opportunity. "I guess I will come back to do it before the official closure of the business" was what I thought and yet that's roughly two months away. Will I make it then? I shall see.. As the drought continues to threaten the entire region, I felt that this area could also utilize some moisture. Fortunately however, some wild flowers as well as the whole lushness of the greenery were still intact (as of early July in 2026.) So if you want to enjoy this beautiful property before it's completely shut down for good, go here before September 27, 2026. There is still time.

While the ride is extremely bumpy to get there, it is well worth it. The views along the way are wonderful, but once you enter the grounds you see a wonderful little camp with amazing views with many activities available. You can just sit and enjoy the scenery while enjoying a nice beverage and good food, or you can explore the area with a wonderful, well manicured and marked trail, lake for fishing and boating and breathtaking scenery for photography. If you have a long lens you may capture some great wildlife.. maybe even a moose on the far side of the lake. Piney Ranch hosts many weddings and some of the staff are residents at this great community. It took approximately an hour from Vail and I would not attempt to drive the bumpy road in the dark or rain. An SUV would be best, but we saw sedans making the trip. No camping available.

I felt so guilty even riding the sleigh with how miserable the horses were, but another person in our group had purchased all the tickets in advance as a treat for everyone The "trail" was complete mud and rocks and the horses were working so hard they had to stop and rest every few minutes - Thankfully, they allowed them to rest, but they should not have even been operating in those conditions! The ride was painfully rough. Absolutely not worth the $50 per person! Everything was dirty slush by mid-March, but the trail is more of a track, no wooded area, not really any views. The horses were absolutely miserable - dragging a loaded sleigh thru icey, muddy riches. They have a small paddock - I wouldn't even call it a pasture. And no shelter - Yes, these horses are content to stay outdoors 99.9% of the time, but they should have an optional covered area available at least.

The amount of fondue was absolutely paltry, especially given it was supposed to serve two people and cost $80. We had a nearly full basket of bread remaining after eating all the cheese. It was more appetizer sized and even the fondue itself was bland and lackluster with no flavors of kirsch, wine, or other seasonings. We had to go somewhere else to actually get dinner. I appreciate the waiter discounting our meal to try and make up for it. The portions of the other entrees looked good so maybe go here for those and skip the fondue.
