Pros: Great ambience and nice staff. A very cute, clean coffee shop with lots of places to sit and do some work. Cons: The coffee is just ok. Nothing amazing. The food is hit or miss. I had the potato and leek soup which was delicious but my husband had Brent's plate which had eggs and bacon. The bacon was almost burnt. Cute not-so-little place tucked away between two business towers. The vibe inside is cozy and cool, light shades of teal and cream and marbled counter tops giving semi-French vibes. TONS of seating- I'd imagine this place is hopping during the workday coffee rush hours. Our usual small decaf flat white with heavy cream. The initial taste is robust and coffee-forward, though the temperature is just above luke warm. Located near Memorial City, it's in the back corner of several office buildings. When you walk in, it's like looking into an open kitchen. The menu is pretty easy to read and the shop itself is really cute. I ordered an iced caramel latte decaf. I love being able to watch people at work and so it was cool to seem them making my drink. It was a solid drink, but I could tell that decaf hadn't been purchased in awhile, so the decaf beans tasted a little stale. This place is like a little Neiman Marcus coffee shop. The decor is aesthetically pleasing and warm. The coffee is absolutely excellent and the baristas are well trained. Then bacon was one of the thickest and most delicious I've been served in a while. I was really looking forward to trying their matcha, but they had sold out, which was crazyyy because it was only 9am. Therefore, I opted for their iced vanilla latte - nothing special... it was a bit watered down. I also got their chantilly yogurt parfait, which is pretty overpriced in my opinion. The greek yogurt was heavy and overpowering, so it took a while for me to finish. Adding some honey and berries would make it taste better, and I could then justify the price. There is a bunch of seating, but most of it was occupied due to how busy it was. If I had to describe the aesthetics of the place in one word, I would say elegant. The service was great. The employee was outgoing and friendly. It was a nice start to my morning. I recommend parking in the garage - it's free, and there is no time limit! read more

I visited Bean and Bottle on Saturday, August 9th. The ambience was very chill--only one other person was there--which made it a peaceful spot to relax. The décor is modern, stylish, and clean, and the amenities are well-maintained. Service was great. The iced coffee was good, but the matcha left a lot to be desired--it tasted more like milk than matcha. For the price, I'd say it's a bit overpriced, but the atmosphere could make it worth it if you're looking for a quiet place to study or get some work done. The grilled cheese, however, was amazing. I was in central Houston for pretty much the entire day this past Tuesday for work, having had to start my day at 5am! Needless to say, after taking care of one work engagement at 7am, I decided to break for coffee and catch-up on work at a nearby coffee shop before two more appointments around noon. After a quick search, I found Bean & Bottle wasn't too far. Even though parking was only available via a parking garage, and I had to park on the top level since the first few levels were reserved for office employees in the plaza, B&B was still the perfect place for my break. The cafe was clean, spacious, and packed with all sorts of groups and workers as early as 8:30am! Wifi was okay, and I managed to make do for the time I as there. I got a cappuccino which I sweetened with two stevias, and a piping hot veggie egg bite (the mushroom one). The meal was adequate for a working breakfast. Only thing I would argue about was the price---the egg bite was an obnoxious $3.50 for the size that it came out in. I would have been happy with 2/$5. read more

Really great coffee! The flat white is solid. It's an additional cost for sweetener/simple syrup to be added. It's hard to get a table during busy hours (basically all morning), especially with a table. Quite noisy just because there are many people having coffee meetings and the tables are close together. Tables are small so if you're working from just a laptop, you should be just fine. read more

I was shocked when I finally heard about this gem hidden in memorial. Tip: You have to enter on a street between two buildings off of i-10 but that way, you can park right in front, easy peasy. The aesthetics of this place is amazing: one outdoor patio, one party room (stunning, perfect for a baby/bridal shower), the main order space with tables around, and one back room with wine racks and a moody cellar aesthetic. The rest is light and chic. I got a Chai latte with vanilla; a little sweet but was good, I'd just ask for a little less syrup or for it on the side to add. The avocado toast is only 8 bucks and was a fantastic value (owners pls don't change the price). There was a very sweet sauce under the avos so I scraped a little off but kept the rest, as it was a nice add to the toast. My only one gripe is their dishware for the hot drinks. It's that dishware that doesn't conserve any heat. By the time it comes to the table, it's already cold. Fortunately we asked for something hot and got some steamed milk to remedy the issue. The baristas did a great job as I debated over their four pour over choices. I asked about their pour over choices and was looking for something organic and full bodied. I had the Columbia in mind, and that's the one the barista immediately pointed to. Never knew Memorial would have something like this tucked in their office building areas. I gather that it's somewhat a new opening which I welcome since you can never have enough cool coffee shops. There's plenty of space to sit and study/work or to mingle, whether you're sitting by yourself or with a group. Coffee beverages and wine are available here. No wine for me on my visit since I was looking to study. I did go with my latte w/ honey and got a breakfast panini for eats. Both were tasty although a bit pricy for my taste. I found myself sitting in the back part of the venue at one of the smaller tables. I tried the table with the tall cushioned seats but I found them to be too low for my liking. Due to the size of the venue, sounds can echo across the room so it may seem loud when you're around a large group. If that bothers you, use earbuds or headphones of course. The place is beautiful though, it was my first time in here and loved that it has both coffee and wine to serve. This place seems to present more on aesthetics side and not so much on quality side. Good thing is that they carry gluten and dairy free options to those who need it. There's something about this location that turns heads. Maybe it's the fact that they turn the coffee shop environment on its head with a full wine cellar, a legit contemporary living room, and a fireplace. Maybe it's because it's nothing I would expect near Memorial mall, but whatever it is, they should keep doing it...I think. Every visit, the service is friendly. They offer a coffee flight for purists which I highly recommend (the same bean in various brewing methods), the avocado toast is alright and when I left it looked like the bartender was doing some sort of gastronomy with a wine glass. If you're not feeling the vibe you can walk your self down to Tiny's, grab a cookie with your coffee, and relax on the turf as there seems to be some confusion in the identity of the shop itself. On my last visit, I dropped in to get some work done. I seemed to visit during an event/tour it seemed the owner? was giving, and certainly felt I was rushed and in the way of giving the group their space as they discussed and sampled wine. There was no signage indicate the event, but I hope in the future they either place signage or section off a room as event space...just to set expectation. Great coffee, disappointing service. Stopped by early in the morning right when they opened and ordered a coffee and a breakfast sandwich. While the coffee was excellent, I ended up waiting over 25 minutes for my sandwich. The two staff members at the front were chatting and snacking behind the counter, and didn't seem attentive to customer needs. What made it more frustrating was the lack of communication--if they had just let me know there was a delay, it would've made a big difference. A little courtesy goes a long way. Not sure I'll be back for food, but the coffee is definitely solid. read more
