$345 for a breaker reset. Beacon's pricing turned my stomach in knots. My elderly mother recently had her hot water tank replaced, and the plumber tripped a breaker in the process. I called Beacon to check it out. The electrician arrived a day later, probed the water heater momentarily, then unhooked a small tie-clip and flipped the breaker back on. The whole visit lasted maybe eight minutes. When I called the office to pay, the admin told me the "diagnostic and reset" would cost $345.16. Let me be clear that I fully expect to pay professionals for their time. But this wasn't an emergency nor was it same-day service, it was mid-afternoon on a weekday, and the electrical panel was right in the open. No parts need, and no special access required. Even if they billed me for a full hour that's fine, but charging $345 for a basic switch reset feels dishonest and wildly inflated. I needed a simple leak fixed in my gas water heater--a job that took no more than 10-15 minutes--and the cost was outrageously high. Their customer service was equally frustrating. OUTSTANDING Service!! On Tuesday I had an issue with my 26 year old toilet (original toilet when I had the house built) and a bidet seat I had tried to install. Needed an emergency service as I was getting a leak two days before Thanksgiving. Candis made sure I was first on the call list the next day (today, the day before thanksgiving). And Mary followed through to connect me to Wayne who was simply put - the Superman of plumbers! He quickly diagnosed the problem and strongly recommended that we replace the supply line and braided hose both of which were corroded and failing. In less than an hour, I was up and running with confidence. He also gave me a recommendation on what toilet to buy to replace the old one I have. The professionalism of Wayne and the team at Beacon (Candis and Mary) was fantastic!! I haven't done it yet, but plan on joining there preventive maintenance service of $180 a year. I count on Beacon, recently Will and assistant Tyler fixed a mal-functioning wall outlet. I agreed to replace other outlets too as they were worn-aged too. In doing so they found four burn-scarred outlets much to my surprise and left me truly grateful for their work. We asked for an estimate for a 240v outlet, 30' of cable, and new breaker. As soon as the Beacon estimater saw the panel (unopened), he commented it needed replacement, the main breaker was bad, could cause a fire, needed a whole house GFCI, and showed us pictures. Cost: $5-7K! He said there wasn't room for a 240v breaker, until I pointed out 2 of the 120v breakers could be moved; he said yes that "could" be done. He continually pushed panel replacement, provided 3 quotes for the work. We've had solar panels installed and an EV charger (by Beacon!) with no comment about the panel. Beacon provided one estimate for the 240 line we requested at $1500; minimum of 2x what research said it should cost, 4x the cost of other estimates. I sent Beacon an email about our experience, received a suspect AI generated response with no name; sure enough, I asked ChatGPT to prepare a response to what I sent Beacon, got back almost word-for-word what Beacon sent. Apparently Beacon doesn't care about anything except how much money than can get from a customer! read more

I had a couple of toilets that were ghost flushing. A simple enough problem to correct, and I could've done it myself, but I made the choice to pay to have it done, and for the security it would be done right. I was shocked at the price (nearly $400, though he gave me a bit of a discount). I had thought $150 would be more than fair for such a simple job. Anyway, I didn't want the hassle, so I paid it. However, the very next day, the ghost flushing in one of the toilets was even worse than before, flushing (leaking) at least 20-25 times a day. I didn't mind. I knew they would likely guarantee their work. The plumber came by, but surprise, surprise.... not only did he not guarantee the work he'd done, he admonished me for taking the easy, cheaper solution (a bandaid approach as he termed it), and told me how much more it would cost to actually fix it right. It is true I'd opted for the least expensive option (it was still twice what I'd guessed it would be), but if it wasn't going to fix the problem, why did he proceed? If he had said he couldn't guarantee it would fix it, then I would have declined his services and got someone more responsible to deal with. And today? Yep. Still listening to the toilet flushing by itself a couple dozen times a day. read more

I just requested an estimate. Beacon Home Services sent several text messages to ensure I would confirm my upcoming appointment, which I responded to each text with confirmation. I received a text that read a technician was running late; therefore, I was rescheduled for a few hours later that day. Then I got a text telling me someone was on the way. Finally, they sent a text saying Beacon Home Service was unable to contact me and the appointment would have to be rescheduled for another day. I called the company to inquirer as to why they cancelled my appointment. I was told they called and left a message at two different times. I explained that I did not have any missed calls or messages. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was told Courtney Godfrey was to busy to take my call. However, she made enough time to call a technician to come to my house. When the electrician arrived, he asked me what size breaker and line I wanted for the installation. I told him that I would have to ask an electrician. I asked again to speak with a manager. The company told me Courtney Godfrey would call me the next day. She did not call. Unreliable company. I called Beacon Home Services upon discovering my recently installed water softener can only be serviced by them or F.H. Furr. They are the only two local companies contracted with the manufacturer to service my brand (NOVO). As Furr had installed it the year before, but then incorrectly advised me to remove my Acid Neutralizer (which they did, then later advised I actually needed one), so I gave Beacon a chance. Beacon made a whole day appointment. Two guys showed up at 9:30 and spent 5 hours (not exaggerating) testing my water and speaking with a NOVO representative. In the end, they recommended changing nothing with regard to the softener, but advised I needed an Acid Neutralizer. The rep said he was having difficulty with their system providing an estimate to install a Neutralizer and would email it to me by the following day. A week later I had not received it and called them. The receptionist said she'd check into it and let me know. Another week passed so I called again and was told the same thing. Another week has now passed and still nothing. My experience (and other reviews found here) tell me a beginning like this is a good glimpse into how the company operates so I won't be calling again. Absolutely horrendous plumbing service! I recently had the displeasure of hiring Beacon Electric And Plumbing, and it was a complete nightmare from start to finish. Let me share the horrifying details of my experience, which I hope will serve as a warning to others. To begin with, I had made a reservation for the plumber's first visit, only to be left waiting in vain. Beacon Electric And Plumbing had the audacity to cancel at the last minute, leaving me in a lurch. This blatant disregard for punctuality and common courtesy set the tone for the rest of the ordeal. When the plumber finally arrived for the second visit, it became abundantly clear things were not going well. He arrived around 9am, said he would be in 10 minutes and wandered in an hour later. I had a tiny leak in a pipe, a problem that should have been easily fixable. However, instead of addressing the actual issue, this plumber inexplicably decided that my three-year-old water heater needed to be moved a mere three inches. What followed was a disaster of epic proportions. After touring the house, the plumber decided he needed a break from his few minutes of walking around and said he would be back in an hour and left. Some hours later he returned. He was also very fond of long telephone conversations. After the plumber moved the water heater, he made a swift exit without bothering to check their work. It wasn't until they were long gone that I discovered my basement was flooding. I spent the entire previous evening worried about a tiny pin leak now in desperation to contain the water, resorting to placing buckets every 30 minutes to prevent further damage. When I called the plumber for assistance, their brilliant advice was to hit the new water valve with a hammer. Unbelievable! Despite their supposed fix, the leaking returned, and by 10:30 pm, I was pulling up rugs and furniture and turning off the water in the house. Turning on the water heater caused an immediate flood in the basement, a problem I had never experienced before the plumber's ill-advised meddling. The timing of this catastrophe makes it hard to believe it was a mere coincidence. It seems clear that the plumber's reckless actions were the cause of this new, devastating problem. As a result of this dreadful experience, as a heart failure patient I was forced to pull up carpets, move all my belongings away from the flooding, and endure an immense amount of stress and inconvenience. To add insult to injury, the plumber had the nerve to assure me that they would fix the problem but failed to follow through. In conclusion, I cannot emphasize enough how utterly disastrous this plumber's service was. Their incompetence, lack of professionalism, and disregard for the well-being of their customers is appalling. I implore anyone in need of plumbing services to steer clear of Beacon Electric And Plumbing, lest they find themselves in a similar nightmare. Worst plumbing service ever read more

Here's the good - they were extremely responsive and communicated very well when scheduling the appointment. Electricians arrived on time and were nice enough. The bad - they wanted to charge me just shy of $1200 to replace two ceiling light fixtures (essentially pendant lights). No repairs needed just changing them out. Neither fixture was heavy nor did they have crystals, etc. $1200 for a job that would take maybe 30 min. When I was hesitant to move forward they called their office and got me a 15% discount. So still over $1000. Insane. My husband was working upstairs through all of this. Can't help to think that I may have gotten price gouged because I am a woman. Either way, hard pass. I told them I needed a very experienced plumber because my issue required some detective work. The plumber and tech they sent to my house were great. They were smart, knowledgeable, courteous. They listened carefully to what I said and resolved the issue quickly. While they were here I asked them for a quote on a tankless water heater. We have a leaking on the ceiling and asked for the service from Beacon home. The tech arrived and told us he couldn't find anything unless he opened the ceiling. He asked $350 just to open the ceiling. He has already charge $189 for dispatch fee (so far total $539 and no repair is done). He also told me he could not guarantee to find the issue and may open the ceiling in somewhere else and he may not be able to find it or repair it until next week. I then told him we didn't need his service anymore. I paid $189 fee which is way too high compare with other companies. I do not recommend Beacon Electrical for the following reasons: I had an external dusk to dawn lamp post that was not working. I was referred by Home Advisor. I have had success in previous referrals from Home Advisor and spoke to the reception at Beacon and scheduled an appointment. During the scheduling, the reception told me that there would be a $59 home visit payment, that would be deducted from the cost of the repair. I agreed to this, as this is standard for pretty much all of the repair people that come to your house. When the repairman arrived, we discussed the issue, and I gave him the background on the issue. At that point, he told me that for him to go any further with a diagnostic, he would need to charge me an additional $225 for him to be able to tell me what was wrong, and to fix it. At that point, I was wondering what the $59 home visit was for. Wanting my lamp working, I authorized him to hook his devise to the lamp post. Once complete, he said that the wiring was working going back to the house, and that it was probably the sensor, and he would go back to his truck and come back with estimates. I then asked him to hook the wiring directly to the lamp head to see if that worked. Fortunately, the lamp head worked. Otherwise, had I not spoken up, he would have included a new lamp head in his estimate. When he returned from his truck, he had 4 different charges. The first one was for $225, and that was for him to do nothing. The second one was for $440 and was for him to replace the sensor and nothing more. The third was for around $600+ and it was for him to replace the sensor and the GFI in the garage (nothing wrong with the GFI). The fourth was for $800+ and was for him to replace the sensor, the GFI in the garage and the exterior electrical outlets. Again, not sure why the GFI and the exterior electrical outlets were included, because they are operational, and he did not even look at them during his time at my house. I chose the $440 option to have the sensor replaced and to make the lamp post operational, as it was the reason that I asked them to come to my house. The repairman spent a total of about 40 minutes at my house. I later called the Beacon Electrical and told them that I had an issue with the initial quote of $59 which later became $225 when the repairman came. I explained the above to the reception and was promised that the Supervisor would call me. It has been 5 days, and still no phone call from the Supervisor. Yes, they fixed the sensor. However, I object to how I was told $59 for the house call and estimate, however, when the repairman came, the troubleshooting ballooned to $225. I believe that $440 is way too much for replacing a sensor on my lamp post. I had previously replaced the lamp post with a new pole several years ago, but apparently the sensor that came with it was defective. read more

This is the second time I've used Beacon electrical. First time was for a replacement of my circuit breaker following a short and small electrical fire. It was covered by my insurance. While talking to the electrician, I mentioned that several homes in my neighborhood had been hit by lightning strikes and he installed a whole-house surge protector for me. Cannot remember name of first electrician but he was wonderful and explained everything clearly. This time around, I was installing a new light and ceiling fan for a bathroom and replacing the switches and outlets, which had to be upgraded to a GFI so it was to code. I also needed a new circuit for a heater and my computers, a new kitchen light and had a few bad switches and outlets in the house. He mentioned that they had a special on whole house outlet and switch replacements which I happily took him up on. My electrician this time was Luis. He was just as wonderful to deal with as my previous electrician. Can't say enough praise for his work. Also kudos to Courtney, the dispatcher. She was cheerful and kept me apprised as to when Luis would arrive and did followups to make sure that I was satisfied. read more

We had them come out to look at an electrical problem. The technician mucked around and admitted that he didn't know if he fixed the problem since this wasn't his area of expertise. Then hidden somewhere in the signature for service was a sign up for some membership that I was not made aware of. When I received a credit card charge for the "subscription" I was told I can't cancel it unless I've been in the program for six month. A bit of a scam I think.
