I found VP Services via a "Five Star Rated" mailer and gave them a shot. I had a minor issue occur that I was hoping to resolve before it turned into a bigger issue and reviews indicated friendly service and a quick turnaround. Was not disappointed. Person who took my call was friendly and polite but to the point. They were able to send someone for an estimate 2 days later. The arrival window was 2 hours (my experience with other service based companies is "morning/afternoon"). Mike came, diagnosed the issue and was able to fix it same day. Of note, did not detract from 5* rating: Mike actually arrived 45-60 minutes before the scheduled given time. I was in the middle of a meeting but luckily my SO was able to handle it. This is not something I think of doing, yet this is a special circumstance: a review of service before the service is performed. We need some electrical work done on our 40 year old house. Mike was recommended. When calling to schedule a free estimate, Tamia had delivered a text reminder message even before the conversation ended. The reviews of the company, VP Services, are stelar. Tamia's friendliness, clarity and efficiency were impressive. And Mike has already fulfilled the 5-star ratings even before we have received the estimate. Mike went right to the task of reviewing our list of needs with the skill of someone who has done this for a while, giving us not just what needs to be done but also why. Knowledge, skill, and the ability to explain is a good combination. A tripped circuit was one of our concerns, caused by a stair climber plugged into a wall socket that was now blackened due to an electrical arc. Mike pointed out that the plug itself was not standard and that the socket connections were also not standard. He clipped off the plug and hardwired the stair climber for us in addition to installing a new socket. THAT, folks, is rare example of service above and beyond. Apparently the wiring for all sockets in our house are "backstabbed" rather than having the wire wrapped in a clockwise direction around the screws. In other words, the connection is not reliable, particularly after 40 years. Hence, the reason we have had other sockets either not work or arc. We can thank the put-it-up-fast builder's electrician and the county inspectors, I suppose. Why am I writing this review based only on a visit to give an estimate, before the estimate is received or the needed work performed? We know they will be from an honest and thorough source. I found VP services when I was in a serious pinch back in November. My husband and I had purchased a home and amongst one of the many projects and updates we made, we replaced every plug and switch in the home. Apparently, one of the plugs was holding on by an actual thread and fast forward, changing it created a major issue with the electricity. I called VP services (originally found on thumbtack) and they came out same day. They were able to locate the issue, provide a solution, and evaluated our electrical situation in our home. We were already aware of our need to replace our electrical panel, so we had VP services scheduled to fix this, along with correcting the wiring to the panel (for no more guessing games of which switch turned off which part of the house), correcting of code violations we weren't aware of, along with fixing the original plug that created mass issue throughout the house. In addition, we also had them install outdoor plugs around our home and two flood lights on the home. Fast forward to today, I'm having work done to install a humidifier into my HVAC and the company I'm using has mentioned a few times already this morning how great my electrical panel was done! We hired them for installing several recess lights in six different rooms, two ceiling fans and two pendant lights. That was a two-three days job. Overall they did a neat job and I was pleased to see their patience with installations. However they did not repair dry wall damage. So I had to look for drywall repair guy separately which was a little inconvenient. My friends who installed recess lights with other electricians say their guy fixed drywall also and their per light cost is also cheaper. If you don't mind paying a little more, go for VP. Pandemic to me has been focused on safety + efficiency, so I've been taking time to get things done around the house and one of those things meant switching out light fixtures. This was the perfect time to support a small local business.I contacted VP via the Thumbtack app and they were able to come almost immediately for a free estimate, I think the next day. VP sends text messages when they're on the way, which is super helpful especially since my phone blocks unknown callers. One of the owners came to do the estimate, he took notes in his iPad and didn't pressure us to book or make a decision on going with his company. He was here for less than 30 minutes. He was chill & straight forward, it didn't feel like he was trying to up sell me on anything even when I asked about an electrical problem I thought we were having. I'm a Yelper who likes to see prices in reviews, but it seems like few people do that, so here we go... Breakdown: foyer light installation $95 8' foot ceiling dining room light installation $150 install at top of main level stairs $125 10' ceiling master bedroom ceiling light installation (install new wiring from existing switch to ceiling and install customer purchased fixture) $389 We ordered our light fixtures, waited for them to arrive, then approved the estimate and selected the day we wanted them to come. They (2 people) were here for a total of 4 hours, 8am-12pm, took as many boxes and old light fixtures that would fit in their car with them (all but 1, which is pretty dang good), and used their own vacuum to clean up after themselves. They washed their hands upon entering and wore masks. The only downside is that 4 of our fixtures are smaller at the base than the original light, so we're going to have to disconnect, paint, then reconnect. Meh! Def wasn't trying to do that. Payment: Can be over the phone, via check or card from their phone. No additional charges for using your card. Our total was the same as the estimate, which is always a good thing, especially since our house is older. I would definitely hire them for future work. read more

One more time these guys came and did a fantastic job! A month or so ago one of our breakers tripped and blew out an entire line. Mike came by to check and found that one electrical outlet on that line had been wired incorrectly and then upon further checking found almost all were wired the same way. This was when the house had been remodeled at some point before we moved in. So yesterday Ryan and Jordan came by and spent a good three hours swapping out all the outlets in the house. We used VP Services to both replace/upgrade our nearly 50 year old electric panel and install the hardware necessary for a level 2 electric car charger. The first technician we met was friendly and candid about the state of our previous panel. He gave us recommendations without coming across as pushy or insincere, and he gave us 3 options to take if we decided to follow his suggestion to replace the panel. We received quotes from other companies but VP Services had the winning combination of in-person quotes, thorough service recommendations, and fair price. Some other companies would not even come look at our panel to provide a quote, while VP Services sent someone to our home and also provided speedy communication over phone and email for questions and scheduling tasks. The 2 technicians who came and did the replacement were friendly and professional and took care not to interrupt our day more than was necessary. We contacted Veeris & Petersen to get an estimate for a few electrical improvements that we had on our 'wish list' since moving in almost two years ago, including rewiring a handful of wall switches, replacing two ceiling fans and adding a new fan in our living room. During our appointment, Mike took the time to not only save us some cash by bundling the work but recommended some additional enhancements, like installing recessed ceiling lighting in the den and master bedroom, that ended up being the most impactful part of the entire job. He didn't try to upsell us, though, and a few of our requests were met with an "are you sure?" -- we got the impression he was truly trying to be reasonable and save us from overspending on our project. On install day, Kevin arrived promptly in the morning and his crew of three got right to work -- and worked late into the evening! They were quiet, respectful, and courteous not just to me (I was teleworking that day and asked that they sequence the work to minimize disruption) but also to our high-anxiety cat. At multiple points during the job, they asked me to double-check and confirm the placement of new lighting fixtures, ensuring that they were evenly spaced for both aesthetic and functional coverage. And as they moved from room to room, they took care to cover all surfaces with drop cloths and cleaned up thoroughly. While we did notice a few places where minor drywall damage occurred, that's part of the "charm" of owning a 60-year-old house(!) and Kevin was completely upfront and was willing to knock a few dollars off our total in compensation. Where drywall had to be removed to access the crawlspace in our den, they minimized cuts and kept the removed pieces in-tact to make for easy repairs later. Nothing we can't DIY ourselves, anyway. He even apologized for not having the same decorative wall plates like the ones we had on our existing outlets and wall switches -- something we didn't even think about! Aside from that, every request of ours was met and we couldn't be more thrilled with the quality of work performed: we will definitely be reaching out if we have any additional electrical work to be done in the future. read more

Came back two days later in the evening and fixed it exactly as quoted. I have never had such an easy time scheduling a contractor. Most companies book you 4-8hr windows and only during the business day. These guys booked me 30 min windows on evenings and weekends based on my work schedule. We wanted to have some additional outlets installed in our Condo Unit. The building was constructed in 1975. I called and e mailed several companies and Kevin, with VP, promptly responded. He gave a very rough estimate of cost, and said the final would result from the on-site estimate. We set a date for the estimate and, followed up with dates for actual work performance. The technicians were Ryan and Mike. They were prompt, efficient and respectful of our furniture. They cleaned all areas thoroughly before leaving. The City Inspection was scheduled, and one return visit was required. All in all we were extremely pleased with the customer service, truthfulness, reliability and professional performance of each of these VP employees. It's the day you're having insulation installed and while the roof's off you mention to the crew that you're planning to replace the bathroom fan soon -- you've even already purchased the model you want. They kindly tell you that's a job done much more easily before the insulation is installed and, if you can have it done in the next two or three hours, they'll wait and you'll get your bathroom fan install and the electrician won't have to fight through insulation. Who can you call who will do everything they can to help you in a tight spot? Veeris and Petersen. The office took my call -- with a smile I could hear -- and promised to see what they could do. In minutes I had the coordinator on the phone discussing the job and within the hour I had Ryan at my house checking out the situation and getting to work. And bless him, he worked through the insulation install and optimizing my inline bathroom fan (amazing, by the way). All of this -- quick timing, multiple projects, social distancing, and minimal flexibility -- and Ryan and Veeris and Petersen made us feel like we'd been their most loyal customers. With a job well done and for what feels like a very fair price, I will sing their praises, recommend them to friends and family, and schedule another appointment to take care those other electrical tasks I've been putting off. Have I mentioned how amazing these guys are?! I asked again for an estimate scheduling through their main lady, Gina, and she was great to work with as always. Mike came through on a Sunday and came with a few options on sizing, dimming, and even lumen levels. Of course, like any true electrical company, be prepared to hire contractors or DIY to fix the drywall in the ceiling. Mike did caveat that. [[IMHO, if there's an electrical company doing drywall work, I'd not only question that company but also avoid hiring them.]] I'm glad to have defaulted to Mike's professional experience and recommendation for room-size-to-light-size ratio. The two man team (I'm so sorry for forgetting names!) worked nonstop from 0830 to 1400... I don't think they ate or peed... As soon as they arrived, they laid out plastic to prevent drywall and debris from getting on everything, and even Swifered up when they finished. The 4" recessed at 4000 with dimming is so perfect from the group gathering brightness, to a movie night's subtle glow. Even the hallway that was sadly lit, after a change with LED bulbs, had a makeover. The brightness is perfect for wandering downstairs without glasses :) Simple outlet swaps are easy with a breaker shutoff, but I'm going to avoid chaos from attempting to convert a few two-wire switched outlets into half-switch outlets since a third hot wire is required to be created from the source. I'm definitely going to be a repeat customer when I add those outlets to the recessed lighting project for the second floor! read more

VP Services was incredibly helpful and professional. We received a quote for an electrical panel replacement on a Tuesday and all the work was completed by Thursday/Friday of the same week. The two individuals from VP Services who worked on the panel on Thursday were incredibly professional and communicative. It took them under 8 hours to fully redo our very old panel and install a new outlet for an electric dryer. Additionally, the county inspection took about 10-15 minutes the next day and was seamless with the VP Services tech. Of course, emergency repairs always seem to happen on a Sunday. I thought I had blown a fuse, and noticed that my refrigerator, stove and lights to two rooms were no longer working. My electrician (now former electrician) couldn't make it in time to save the food in my freezer. I called Veeris & Petersen to see if they were available. In addition to being super nice, I got a call within a half hour to say that Mike was on his way and would be here in 45 minutes. Exactly 45 minutes later my doorbell was ringing.
