Today I discovered that my HVAC wire outside was smoking. I immediately cut the power and called Absolute Electric because they've done wonderful work for me in the past. It was after hours, but they came to my rescue anyway. Harrison did an incredible job figuring out the wire was torn up by my idiot dogs and provided me with a list of options for how to go about remedying the situation. I opted for the best choice which was encasing a new wire in PVC pipe and securing it a couple feet up the foundation so the dogs won't risk injury nor my wallet again. This poor guy got here around dinner time and worked away until the job was done, just after midnight. His work looks spectacular and my Heat Pump is back up and running again. I really wanted to be able to recommend Absolute Electric since their technicians were friendly and helpful. However, after getting a quote from a second company, their prices were so much higher that I cannot. We called them for 4 services - fixing an outlet, installing 2 closet lights, and installing a ring doorbell. We paid $70 for them to come give us an estimate, and their initial estimate was over $10,000 - and only included basic diagnostics for the outlet, not the repair if it was beyond a basic fix (which it was). In fairness, this included other improvements that they recommended, but even taking those off it was way above the other quote we got. For comparison below is the prices for Absolute Electric relative to the other company. Fee for estimate Absolute=$69, Competitor=$0 Outlet diagnostics: Absolute $670, Competitor=$0 Outlet repair (running a new wire): Absolute=? (No estimate provided since needed diagnostics first but said it would be extra if this was the problem), Competitor=$389 [I should also add here that I'd mostly self-diagnosed the problem and gave the Absolute technician this info, but they still said it was a difficult assessment - it turned out my assessment was correct, which the competitor verified in under 10 minutes so could jump to fixing the problem] Ring doorbell install: Absolute=$2,606, Competitor=$458 Closet lights (2): Absolute=$967. Competitor=$970 Add-ons recommended: Absolute=$5,902. Competitor=$0 Again, their technicians were nice, prompt, and thorough. We had them come out to look over one or two small issues, and mainly to get a dedicated 240v line for a new electric hot water heater. The two technicians came out and were incredibly easy to work with. They went over what we need to do, what's possible with the remaining space on our board, and how to help do the work affordably. This was the only place that gave us a "better" and "best" option, where the "best" had a couple extra items we mentioned during the visit to bring us up to code in one area. I appreciated seeing the options, though it initially put me off. They worked with my schedule to come out and do the work, and were incredibly quick and clear on what was being done beforehand and afterward. I really appreciated just how nice the people were, and how knowledgeable they were with their work. I think Absolute Electric must be one of the few electricians that pay their techs to take required training. I might be wrong, but I sure know that everything they did was incredible. We'll definitely recommend them, and use them in the future. read more

I recently had a terrible experience with a local HVAC company, but basically I was told I need an electrician for power not going to my furnace switch. Long story short, it turned out that the HVAC technician simply didn't see there was a second switch in my utility closet. The technician that came out from Absolute Electric immediately saw the second switch and hit it, and wow, power! But included in the diagnostic fee was a full check up of the electrical panel and all the breakers - so even though they came out for what essentially was a flip of a switch, I got reassurance that my breakers were in good shape and that the major electrical components for the house were good to go. I appreciated the professionalism and felt no pressure for the quote for panel upgrades that were suggested. Their appointment person was also extremely kind and thoughtful and tried to squeeze me into the earliest time slot they could considering I was without AC during the summer. The two electricians who did the work for me were very polite, respectful, and hard working. they also kept me fully informed about what they were doing to determine the reason why my kitchen ceiling lights were erratically dimming and brightening whenever I flipped the switch to On. However, the "Levels" process they are required to go through by Absolute Electric bumped up a simple task of checking the light switches and replacing a cracked light switch into the "Level Three" category which cost me $670!!! Yes, I agreed to the process as they went along because I know electricity problems are dangerous. However, in hindsight, doesn't it make more sense to check the light switches first?! The electricians replaced 4 or 5 other switches in the kitchen to be on the safe side - but $670 for light switches!!! Also, their supervisor told them that he would send out someone to use a special devise to check the connections in my breaker boxes for heat. He said that Absolute Electric would call me to setup a date/time. It's been a couple of days. I'm still waiting for Absolute Electric to call me about doing that. As a few others said, I am a little surprised by the overall high ratings for this company. Absolute Electric seems to have fixed my issue in one visit, but I can't recommend them to others. The price here will leave you feel like they took advantage of you. Contacting the company and making an appointment was straightforward, and they were clear about the $69 flat fee for the visit. Absolute was also communicative about the appointment (4 hour windows), with a text message and call when the technician was on his way. The technician was professional, and while not super friendly, perfectly helpful. He had what I assume was an apprentice or helper with him, whom he didn't introduce. This was a simple issue where I had one light that wasn't functioning, plus a request to modernize three dimmers. After quickly going over the issue, the technician took maybe 15 or 20 minutes to come up with pricing options, one of which was $1,034 and the other (which was more likely to actually find the issue) was over $1,300. I asked how long the work would take, and he said he could not say. So I offered that these prices seemed awfully steep, so I was trying to figure out why the labor was so expensive. The reply wasn't clear, but it wasn't something about the complexity of diagnosing circuits. I consented to the work because I needed the problem fixed right away. I know that the price was incredibly high, but I needed the work done soon, and they probably knew that. The answer was probably that there were too many appliances on one circuit, and the fix (wiring another open circuit) was another $500. That fix seemed to take maybe 30 minutes. - maybe less. Overall, this work was over $1,900. I know that this work was overpriced, and it left me with a bad taste in my mouth. The technicians were here for maybe 3.5 hours in total, which would be an average rate of about $275. They also automatically try to opt you into a family plan, where they charge you a monthly fee, you know, for all of your ongoing electric needs. Customer service should be more than just showing up and fixing an issue. I think that customer service should include clearly explaining the problem to the customer, and charging them a reasonable, transparent price to fix it. Taking advantage of people who are not experts in wiring, and charging them as much as you think you can get away with isn't good service. I would never recommend this company to my neighbors or friends. read more

It's been a while since I've used them but looked at my review and called them to help with a sparking outlet. Ryan came out and ran through all my options with me after a basic inspection of my electrical system. Even better he worked with a third party company, Ting, that monitors my system remotely. The company has changed its pricing plan for the better so there is no hourly rate, just a flat fee. Signed up for an annual service plan with them as well. Process was smooth from start to finish... I was called back very soon after I reached out, estimate was scheduled and completed quickly. Was easy to have them modify a couple items on the estimate. I had three ceiling fans installed in upstairs bedrooms, two of them at new locations, meaning they had to run wire, install the ceiling fan box, etc. There was no attic which made things a bit more challenging. The team of 2 finished the work in about 4 hours or so ... Ryan made an effort to cut as little drywall as they could, which I very much appreciated. The team wore shoe covers, which I noticed they removed and put back on as they came in and out of the house, and cleaned up after the job very well. Will definitely use them again when I need more electrical work. Update: There was a *very small* issue with one of the fans which I discovered a few weeks after the install, so small that I almost felt bad about asking them to correct it... I contacted Shauwn and he sent someone out almost immediately to fix it. This is a company that stands behind their work! Another plus. read more

We had a small refrigerator that stopped working. We needed to have the outlet behind the frig checked to determine if the issue was the circuit or the frig. We have dealt with this company previously but something has changed. We were hit immediately with a $70 service charge for coming to the door and we had to sign an acceptance for paying the service charge before they would even look into anything. We were then given a sales pitch about the cost levels for doing work the lowest of which was $337. In effect if they just corrected a minor fault this would be at minimum $406. They did not address what I asked and instead indicated that if they needed to do anything other than the most basic work the cost would immediately escalate to additonal cost tiers increasing the price to over $600. This was frankly a scam and an effort to upcharge me for work I was not asking for. I was not given a quote, the quote was NOT included in potential costs and the charges were steep to say the least. At no time did they even do the basics of checking what I asked without presigning agreements. $400 to $600+ to check a small frig that cost $200. I strongly urge you not to do business with this company. If I could give a rating lower than 1 star I would. read more

Absolute Electric did a fantastic job installing our recess lighting. My brother recommended them after they also installed his lighting. Shawn, the owner, came by initially to do the estimate. The prices he quoted were fair and he took the time to explain to us the new requirements for breakers and why we needed them with the addition of these higher wattage lights. They scheduled us quickly, and the day of Ryan and a helper came promptly the morning of the install after calling to inform us they were on the way. The total job took 7 hours, partly because they found an issue that turned out to be a faulty wire in a wall running up to one or our bedrooms. This was a fire hazard, and we are very grateful Ryan and his helper took their time checking all our outlets and lights until they identified the source. We would definitely use Shawn's business for any future electrical needs. He is honest and upfront and has professional and skilled workers. They scheduled someone to come back to fix it. This is rare and in itself deserves more than 5 stars!! This company is very professional. After making the appointment they called me several days before the installation to confirm everything. The day of, the tech called me 30 mins before he arrived. They brought all the necessary equipment (including shoe covers) to hang my very large chandelier in a two story great room. The installation went great, no issues at all. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they left some slight smudges on my ceiling. The two techs were very professional and very polite. Absolute Electric has earned it's fine reputation as a result of the fair pricing and good work of it employees over decades. I have been a faithful customer for years and developed friendships with the staff. However, things have apparently changed. There are apparently new managers who insist on their "new model" for pricing. They now charge by the job and not by the hour. Nevertheless, I contacted them again for an electrical job: doing rewiring for a new hot tub. The technician came out and his hand computer said the job would cost approximately $3, 400. I said he was out of his mind. Another electrician from another company fixed the hot tub wiring for $350. Maybe a mistake on Absolute Electric's part? A mistake that would have cost me 10x more than was necessary. Beware of this company's new pricing model. They may end up losing good customers that the company worked so diligently to acquire in the past using the "old model" or price according to hours worked. Although on the pricier end, I must say I am relieved to finally have my electrical problem fixed. I paid two different electricians over the years to not quite fix the issue. Finally, AE comes in gives me a whats what and fixed it quickly. The guys were cordial and polite, respectful and not messing around with price. If it means I must pay up for the guarantee, they I will pay up because it is worth it to know it is done correctly the first time. What I paid Absolute Electric once I paid two others in total and the issue still wasn't fixed. So I will be back for that quality service. read more

I am very happy and confident with the work that Robert the technician completed. While the price was a bit of sticker shock, (having waited 10 years to address a huge list of issues), in the end I feel much better for having someone qualified to do the work. We did get 2 new ceiling fans and replaced 2, moved 2 chandeliers, 2 circuit breakers were overloaded, added 2 surge protectors (1 for each panel), a real bathroom vent, moved a switch unit and repaired another one, 4 CFI's replaced, 5 new ceiling lights, and 6 additional recessed lights for the kitchen plus their initial safety check completed. It did take a few calls to get one item resolved afterwards because of a miscommunication but I am glad I saw their truck in a neighbors driveway and contacted them to do the work I needed done. read more

I called to have some minor kitchen work done (think, connecting some under counter lights) and the technician spent over 20 minutes giving a canned presentation about the company and how he is going to perform a comprehensive safety assessment of my whole home, etc. etc. After declining the whole home assessment, I said I just wanted the work done that I requested. He then spent 10 more minutes creating his "good, better, best" sales pitch for this work that included high ticket items I did not ask for - such as pricey annual service plans and a whole house surge protection system - all with monthly payment plans that obscured the total price. I felt like I was in a car dealership. When I asked directly for just the price of the work I requested, I was verbally quoted over $3,000. For work that would only take 2-3 hours maximum with no parts or running any wires. A $69.95 lesson to avoid this place. read more

How does this business have so many good reviews? We had a GFCI outlet that wasn't working. I was having a busy couple weeks so I asked my wife to call an electrician. She arranged for Absolute Electric to come out and was told that they charge a $69 diagnostic fee (fair enough) and labor would be on top of that. The technician arrived way late but was nice enough and seemed like a good guy. He told us that the GFCI outlet had something wrong with it (duh!) and that another $300-$600 would need to be spent for a deeper diagnosis. I told him I would take care of it on my own and he was nice enough to not charge us the $69 fee. I bought a new outlet at the hardware store for 20 bucks, installed it in 15 minutes, and now problem solved. Being a business owner, I understand that businesses need to make money but they should be making money in an ethical manner. I would have gladly paid a couple hundred dollars to have the outlet replaced just so I didn't have to do it. read more
