I had three ceiling fans installed in upstairs bedrooms, two of them at new locations, meaning they had to run wire, install the ceiling fan box, etc. There was no attic which made things a bit more challenging. The team of 2 finished the work in about 4 hours or so ... Ryan made an effort to cut as little drywall as they could, which I very much appreciated. The team wore shoe covers, which I noticed they removed and put back on as they came in and out of the house, and cleaned up after the job very well. Will definitely use them again when I need more electrical work. Update: There was a *very small* issue with one of the fans which I discovered a few weeks after the install, so small that I almost felt bad about asking them to correct it... We had them install a new EV charging circuit for my wife's Lucid (which, if you don't know, is basically a spaceship pretending to be a car), and from start to finish, this crew was absolutely first class. Sam, the boss, deserves his own cape. The man was ridiculously patient with us--like, saint-level patient. Explained everything, gave us options without the upsell nonsense, and made sure we were comfortable every step of the way. You could tell he runs his crew with respect, and it shows. I was informed that dryer vents should be cleaned every 2-3 years, and 2. You did clog the vent the first time you were here and I did call and pay a dryer technician unnecessarily only to find out my vent was clogged. You had to come back a second time to try to clean it again, which I appreciate. If you read my reviews, they don't speak negatively of your business. In my first review, I stated that people should hire you and I suggested that if they do, they should do a walkthrough since some of my vents were missed. At that point, if I didn't like your company, I wouldn't have hired you a second time. With regard to the second cleaning, again, my review isn't negative, I'm stating my experience. If you remember, when you returned after learning about the clog, you came here and stated that builders shouldn't put these grates on the exhaust vents. You were basically suggesting it's the builders fault for the clog and there's little you can do about it. Whether that's true or not, the grates are what they are and they need cleaning. If your company doesn't go on roofs to clean them, then I believe it makes sense for somone with an exhaust vent on their roof to hire someone that does go on roofs to clean them. My 3-star rating is based on: 1. that vents were missed the first time I used your service, and 2. that my dryer exhaust vent was immediately clogged the second time I used your service. What rating do you suggest for that? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I used MAC Master again after I moved. They came in and cleaned the HVAC unit and the dryer vent. The next day, my dryer stopped drying. Since I had just had the vent cleaned, it had to be the dryer. I called a dryer technician to come check it out. Turns out, that the dryer vent was clogged. I called MAC Master to tell them of the issue. They came out again and mentioned that builders usually put a grate on the exhaust vent of dryers so that animals don't go into them, however, mine is on the roof and they don't go on roofs. They went into my attic and punched a hole in my dryer vent and tried to clean it from there. About a year later, my dryer isn't drying again. This time I used the trick the dryer tech showed me to see if it's the vent. The trick is to run the dryer with the dryer door open (you have to hold the door closed switch so it runs while the door is open) and hold a paper towel over the lint exhaust vent (with the lint filter removed). By doing this, you can see if the vent is trying to suck in the paper towel (make sure you don't lose that paper towel in there!). There was zero suction, so my vent was clogged again. I'm not surprised considering it was not cleaned and the grate probably had a few unclogged holes for air flow this whole time. I had to hire another HVAC cleaning company that does go on roofs to come and clean the dryer vent again. This should not need to be done yearly if it's cleaned properly. So after paying MAC Master for the cleaning, I wasted money on a dryer technician, and then had to pay another HVAC company for a full dryer vent cleaning to make sure the grate was cleaned. I've attached a picture of the grate. My suggestion is that If you have a dryer venting out of your roof, hire a company that will go on your roof to do a full cleaning.

This week a different crew came to replace some insulation and to install a "critter guard" to keep animals out from under our panels. When they left, the price of the work was more than 40% higher than what was in the written, itemized estimate. I spoke with Joel, the owner. He told me that the cost of a both the service call and labor had increased, but no explanation was provided for the failure to update the quote. The main increase in the invoice came from the labor time, which was nearly twice what was originally quoted. I asked if the crew was inexperienced so it took them longer, and he told me that he had sent an experienced team who knew what they were doing. They had called him during the work, however, to report that they were slipping on the roofing shingles, so it took nearly twice the usual time to finish the job. They had even tried to use some kind of a safety harness, but it failed to solve the problem. I told Joel that it would have been appropriate for the workers to tell the client that they were not feeling safe on the roof before the work was begun. I never would have allowed anyone to continue working on a roof they claimed was dangerous. Joel then told me this was an inexperienced crew who were unable to assess conditions on the roof until they were well into the job, and at that point, they couldn't really stop working. In sum, I was told that the crew was experienced enough to work efficiently, but they took four hours to complete the job. I was then told they were so inexperienced that they spent those four hours slipping and sliding around on our roof, but we heard no sounds of this inside the house, and nobody informed us there was a problem until it was time to pay. I was told that American Solar decided, without informing us, the homeowners, that they would continue installing materials on a roof that their workers had reported was unsafe. Even setting aside the contradictory statements, we find it difficult to believe that an established company would disregard both safety and liability in this manner. No offer was made to honor the quoted pricing. No offer was made to honor the quoted labor cost. I was simply thanked for my "feedback" and told that "this is why it's called an estimate." We were charged $1200 for 30 feet of insulation and wire guards to keep squirrels from nesting under two solar panels. We paid the invoice in full, an expensive lesson learned. We will use another company for any future needs.

John was very professional & set me right up for my vehicle inspection. I really liked that they schedule your vehicle like an appointment, where other inspection stations, you pull into a vehicle waiting line, where you park your car behind the one in front of you, as the cars move along, slowly, you have to start your car an inch forward, ypu can be stuck in your car for 3, or even 4 hours. This was a nice change! Drop off our car and go on with your day. I could have recieved a ride to wherever I needed in the area, but decided to stick around. John said it would be 1.5-2 hour wait. No problem, I'll hang out. Which I usually don't like to do.. but I'll tell you why I did. The company shop is well lit, exceptionally clean and had some nice creature comforts, not the hard plastic chairs you usually find, but a couple of love seats, and very comfortable chairs. The obligatory coffee machine (Keurig) , hot water (for Tea) or cold water. A very Clean restroom and they have a friendly atmosphere among the staff & customers. I also was pleasantly surprised at how clean & organized the bays were. Not the greasy, dusty, dirty bays you usually see in other auto shops. Not only did they complete the vehicle inspection but also provided a free diagnostics, complete with photos of areas of concern on my vehicle, but also recommendations for future service, where either I could do the repair or they would schedule it & complete the job. I also recieved an electronic copy for my files. I will be coming back for more than my vehicle inspection sticker!! I received more value from Craftsman Auto Care than the cost of the inspection! Overall 5 Stars out of 5 Stars!

I just replaced my entire HVAC system, including humidifier, wifi thermostat and also my hot water heater. I live in an end unit town house which is 30 years old. My old system was installed in 2002 and it was limping along on about 50% of capacity so it was time for a new one. I interviewed and got estimates from four companies, all who coincidentally install Carrier equipment. This made my comparisons a little easier. Carl of John Nugent & Sons came to my house to give me my fourth and final estimate. Each of the companies I was considering had high recommendations in various consumer publications and on line reviews. Each one spent time with me explaining the various options (a multi-stage compressor was an expensive, big deal to most of them) and answering my many questions. That said, I was looking for what would be the most efficient system for me at the best price - and I wanted a company who would do both the HVAC and the water heater at the same time. Carl made wise recommendations on what I needed, what would work with my ductwork and what were just "bells and whistles" which would have cost a lot more (and frankly may not have helped lower my electric bills which was one of my goals). And he gave me an excellent price for the whole job. I did elect to add UV lights to my system after doing some research. They were expensive but hopefully will make a difference with molds and mildews which build up on the damp coils especially during the summer a/c season. The hot water heater was part of the price (I specifically chose vendors for estimates who advertised that they would the whole job at one time. Two of the sales reps actually suggested I have Home Depot do the water heater. They eliminated themselves by doing this... even though their pricing was much higher without the water heater, as was the third estimate which included the water heater). I hired John Nugent & Sons within 24 hours of Carl's visit and they were ready to start on the work immediately. WOW! The next morning their service rep (I'd call him kind of a "project manager") Chad came to look over and measure the space to determine exactly how they'd lay out the air handler, humidifier etc. He carefully considered my input (based on Carl's detailed notes which were on my estimate) and then left detailed instructions - in writing - for the work crew. The very next morning, a Friday (on a freezing and snowy day), the work crew of four guys showed up at 7 am. I felt so sorry for them working in the freezing temps and snow all day and kept the hot coffee coming. They paid close attention to all of the careful notes Chad had left and followed his instructions to the letter. By 2:30 I had heat again, a new heat pump, thermostat and air handler. WOW again! They were efficient, neat (they cleaned up everything, even wiped the floor down! before they left), polite and knowledgeable about their products. They added a cold air return on my lower level along with an additional damper; the ductwork they custom fit all of the new ductwork (the last company who replaced the air handler didn't bother to replace the plenum or any of the ductwork...). They helped me set up the wifi thermostat (piece of cake) and said they'd be back Monday to finish the hot water heater (which they moved to a new and better location in my laundry room) and install the humidifier. Two of the Friday team - Tom and John (I don't think these are their real names, btw) were back bright and early Monday morning to finish the work. They checked with me before they did any work to make sure they had the right instructions and then installed the new humidifier and water heater, custom cutting the brass pipes and making sure everything was perfect before they left. They went over everything with me to make sure I understood all of it before they left. They really understood the equipment and didn't take any shortcuts to make the install easier on them. I sincerely appreciate this approach! Do it RIGHT THE FIRST TIME! I am not an engineer and HVAC bores me to tears - but I've also worked with many HVAC contractors over the years. I give John Nugent & Sons and their whole team an absolutely stellar, Top of the Line review. They left no stone unturned in every aspect of this job. The team from John Nugent & Sons was great from the very start. When our furnace quit during the recent heat wave, we reached out to friends for referrals and ended up getting FIVE different estimates for a new furnace and AC system. Nugent's estimator Carl, was very knowledgeable about the products they use and did a great job explaining our options without up-selling us. The estimate was the second lowest price of the five and included features that we would have paid extra for elsewhere. Nugent & Sons schedules a preinstall appointment before the actual service date. Our preinstall appointment occurred the day after we signed the proposal. Mike showed up on time and was very thorough in his inspection and explanations. One amazing perk: Mike installed 2 window AC units to keep us comfortable until our installation appointment 6 days later for NO EXTRA CHARGE! Why doesn't EVERY company do this?? For the install, the team arrived on-time and were professional, friendly, willing to answer all our questions. There was a major detail of our job that made the install more complicated. We wished to relocate the AC compressor (wiring, lines, etc) to the opposite side of the house to prepare for a future patio renovation. Nugent & Sons treated the move as "no big deal" whereas the other companies would have charged a lot more money for this service. There were a few extra tasks that were completed on-site due to the smaller furnace like extending the gas line, moving drain lines, new J-boxes, etc and all was completed with no complaints and no extra charges. I am an engineer and I do a lot of my own work so I have an eye for detail and have high expectations. The entire crew including Payne, John, and Edwin were FIRST CLASS. First time ever calling John Nugent & Sons yesterday. I went in nearly blind, with only their website and these few Yelp reviews as a guide. With a mini heatwave pending and my A/C suddenly on the fritz, I'd called another (recommended) outfit and they couldn't see me until Tue -- well after the wave would have swelled and gone. JN&S told me they could see me the next day (today). Even better: They called early this morn and said they were in the 'hood and asked if they could come earlier. In disbelief and with sweat-stung eyes I exclaimed, "Are you kidding me? That'd be a hot yes!" They said they'd call when they were en route. Got the call an hour later, was told the tech would be here in about 15 mins, and sure enough he was. My technician was professional, courteous, quick, and honest. Turned out I was lucky for now -- unit's fine, but the capacitor was busted. What? My flux capacitor?! (You get punchy when it's 95º in your house. What on EARTH did our unspoiled forefathers do in their ridiculous clothes and wigs??) The tech had a capacitor in the truck, installed it immediately, and an hour later I'm back in business. I've heard horror stories, and it seems people are always looking for a plumber or A/C service company they can trust. Well I can tell you my experience was nothing but pleasant, from the first call to my tech's exit. No hard sell -- what people fear most when dealing with A/C service companies -- and, since no real diagnostics were required (as my tech found the problem immediately), I wasn't charged a mysterious Blanket Benjamin Plus for the look-see. We had a leak in our water main, with our quarterly water usage jumping to 74K gallons from the normal 5K gallons. We tried to locate and pinpoint the leak for a spot repair but the location company could not find it. we were then faced with replacing the entire water line, from meter to the house is 130' through the neighbor's yard with a cornucopia of underground utilities (gas, electric, Verizon, etc.) that had to be located and manually dug around. We got 4 competitive bids from plumbing firms that included manually trenching the 130' (3 feet deep) new water line. Matthew Lange, Jr, of John Nugent provided the most comprehensive and competitive proposal on the spot from his iPhone. Explaining in detail the directional boring equipment they would use (they own the machine, most plumbers sub it out) to pull a new water line with minimal disruption to my neighbor's yard. Matt and his team did a great job, keeping us informed about their progress and the minor issue when they had to halt digging as it turns out Miss Utility had mismarked where the underground gas line was and they had to come back out and locate it. Very professional, did a great job of minimizing the damage to the lawns and filled and compacted the excavations and put down grass seed. I highly recommend them! Give Matt a call 703.887.7191. One of our 10-year old Sanyo ductless heat pumps has recently failed, and the second one was no longer providing sufficient heat. After reviewing several ductless systems, we decided to get the highly-regarded Mitsubishi system. The Mitsubishi website provides a listing of their best dealers (Diamond Contractors). This helped us select John Nugent & Sons, which also had superior ratings in Consumers Checkbook. Our experience with John Nugent & Sons was totally positive, starting with the initial call to Jennifer, to set-up an appointment for an evaluation. RJ Parker (Comfort Consultant) who evaluated our living areas, answered all our questions, and provided detailed recommendations. We selected the Mitsubishi Hyper heat pumps with matching wall-mounted air handlers. Not only do these units provide full heat even when outside temperatures drop to 13 degrees, the manufacturer offers a 12-year warranty, with the dealer providing a two-year warranty on labor. Heba, the project scheduler, arranged for Chad (Installation Manager) to do the installation walk-through. A few days later, the installation crew, headed by Joel began work (in bitterly cold temperatures). The larger unit was installed on the first day, and the smaller unit on the second. We called the emergency service line of John Nugent & Sons early Sunday morning to help restore heat to our home. Virginia was under a state of emergency due to a storm that brought over a foot of snow to the region. We received a call back within an hour, and within 2 hours the OWNER of the company was at our doorstep ready to help! We have had a service contract with John Nugent & Sons for over a year and have been very pleased with their services, but we were completely blown away by their commitment to providing such excellent customer service during this snowstorm. None of his technicians could make it out of their respective neighborhoods to reach us, so the owner drove to us from over an hour away to assist in the middle of the storm. He was friendly, courteous, and resolved our issue within 30 minutes. The issue turned out to be due to a safety shut off due to a downdraft (aka- user error!). He could not have been nicer, explained how the safety feature works, how to restart the system, and what issues to be on the look out for. We were already happy customers of John Nugent & Sons, but this recent experience really sealed the deal for us to stay with them for all of our heating, AC, electric needs in the future. My whole experience with John Nugent & Sons was very positive starting from providing me a quote up to the installation of new equipment - Carrier Infinity heating/cooling. Lucas was very patient and not pushy to make a decision and I took all the time to research, consult and finally make a decision on the equipment brand and model. He was addressing all our questions diligently and met all our conditions which made our decision to work with John Nugent. Thanks for excellent support Lucas! The installation went great, the crew -Jorge, Juan and Nicholas came on time, worked very professionally, accurately and clean, explaining us all the issues and clarifying questions. We appreciate their suggestion on how to use the system effectively so that it serves for longer years though it added more hours to the work. They protected the floors with the fabric and cleaned after finishing the work. We are also thankful to Dave who came today and installed a surge protector and took time to explain how it works. I am incredibly pleased with the service. My life has been crashing around this autumn, and this plumbing problem was just yet another on that large pile. I'd originally contacted another plumbing service, who charged me around $300 for leak detection (there was no teardown of any sort at the time). The original plumber explained that it would cost me at least $1000 to fix everything (including pipes). With his initial assessment and some advice, I looked for a remediation service. The remediation specialist then told me that I wouldn't need such levels of service, probably, and that maybe I ought to call a different plumbing service, as the first plumber's standards were not industry standard. So I did. I called several, and eventually ended up with John Nugent & Sons. Shawn came out, took a look, and then fixed the faucet, telling me what I needed to look out for. He answered many questions I had regarding the faucet and shower, and even helped me out with the shower drain. He charged me around $200 total. He also said I didn't need to replace any pipes. So he saved me quite the headache and money. If we have any more plumbing concerns, we will be calling on John Nugent & Sons, and I will specifically be asking for Shawn. We recently had the misfortune of having to replace a sewer line but, having worked with Nugent & Sons (Shawn was our go-to guy) recently on various plumbing jobs and been very pleased with the quality of work, we looked to them for assistance with replacing the sewer line and were not disappointed. Matt Jr. and his crew (Eddy, Carlos, Alex and Hector) were knowledgeable and helpful from start to finish. Once it was determined what and where the problem was (tree root intrusion), Matt patiently went over replacement options for the direction of the new line- the advantages and disadvantages of each- taking into consideration the cost of replacing an elevated brick sidewalk/partial driveway had we chosen to go one route. His guidance in this area was invaluable as was his calm demeanor. This was a complex job and we were very appreciative of the professionalism and expertise exhibited by the team. Matt gave us a clear picture of the scope as well as the cost and kept to his proposal and timeline, We were able to turn our water on a day and a half after the work commenced. They were FANTASTIC!!! I received an excellent price from Mr. Mike Jackson in November. Two days later, my new AC/Heat unit was installed! They were professional and very knowledgeable as well as trustworthy in my home. After talking to me and finding out my specific needs, Mr Jackson uncovered some issues I was having with allergenic family members not being able to come to my house due to pet dander. He recommended that I get a few "extras" that will help my problem. Upon Mr. Jacksons recommendation I bought the Air Knight Filtration system as well as a 5-inch filter on my new system. My new system is UNBELIEVABLE!!! It cleans the air of dust, pollen, pet dander and odors. My 6 year old allergic niece was not able to come to my home for more than an hour before my new system was installed due to the pet dander. In December she was able to spend her entire winter break with me!! Not only did I get a new system but the quality of my life has improved. This was a life changer!! I could not be happier! We had John Nugent & Sons recently quote and install a 2-ton Carrier heat pump to replace a very old system (including a 38-year-old air handler in a very tight space) and the experience was excellent. We received three proposals for a new system and Nugent's price was very, very attractive for the exact same equipment as a competitor. Since their recent reviews were very good we selected their proposal. Once we signed the proposal they were able to send a tech for a pre-inspection within a day or two. The actual system installation was able to be performed about one week later and was handled very professionally by Juan and Isaac. They were right on time and very careful with keeping things clean (the air handler was on our third floor) and when they left you couldn't even tell they'd been there. They were friendly and answered all our questions (e.g. "how's it going?") throughout the day. Their office staff is also superb - very friendly and responsive on the scheduling phone calls and with help registering the system afterwards. John Nugent & Sons - Michael Sewell April 19, 2022 our basement toilet developed a small leak recently. Every time it was flushed a small bit of water seeped from the front toilet base. Not an emergency, seepage could be cleaned-up with one paper towel. That morning I called John Nugent & Sons as we have worked with them before. We were impressively pleased with Mitch Thompson's (Tech #282) work on re-design of hot and cold lines to basement sink and washing machine as well as replacing the main water shut off with a more efficient method. We informed Nugent & Sons that it was not an emergency; however, they had Michael Sewell respond within a few hours. Michael is very friendly and very knowledgeable. After discussing the problem and most likely solution, he got right to work. He explained what he was doing and did not mind me watching or asking questions (if I wanted). We had an outage of our AC unit and attempted to schedule an appointment. Of course, many of our fellow Virginia neighbors were experiencing the same thing because we could not get a same day appointment. Customer Service was very nice, forgive me for forgetting your name, and told us they can schedule us for tomorrow. We initial declined and said we would go with a different company, but we called back and said we would like to make the appointment anyway due to dissatisfaction with the other company's inability to provide a time block. She was gracious and scheduled us. Then we get a call from her about a half hour later that a Technician is in our area! Completely unexpected, made our day! So Jason was dispatched and arrived within 30 minutes. Got us up and running in another 30 - 45 minutes. All that to say our experience with John Nugent & Sons was beyond phenomenal. Nugent is as good as it gets. From the first, every person I had contact with was polite, professional, helpful, and obliging. Every one, from Bill, who came to give me an estimate, and who patiently waited while I and my wife debated which company to use, to Chad, who came to prepare for the guys who installed my two furnaces, to the installation guys themselves. They finished the installation at 6pm but needed to wait an hour before they could test the system. It was a Friday! They stayed at my house--all four of them--waiting for the moment when they could test the system. Most other installation guys would just have disappeared. These guys stayed the extra hour. Overall, the advantage in dealing with Nugent is very simple. This is a small, family-run firm which will go the extra mile for you. John Nugent and Sons has been our "go-to" company for the past few years. We have always experienced quality service with the company. A month ago in the afternoon, I found that our hot water heater was leaking and I wanted it replaced that same day. The company sent a work crew within two hours or less of my phone call and the new water heater had been installed in less than 5 hours. Yesterday, I called on John Nugent and Sons again due to an HVAC issue. The company was very responsive to my call and had a technician at my door in less than 24 hours. The technicians with John Nugent and Sons have always been respectful to my wife and I. The technicians, especially MARK and JASON YIM, were very competent and helpful. My entire experience with John Nugent & Sons was excellent...from my initial contact with the firm, all the way to the end. The customer service individuals were extremely professional and curtious (a step above the other firms we had contacted. And not that the other firms were bad... ). Chad, the sales rep, was awesome. He explained everything in detail as we were replacing our AC unit with a heat pump to work in conjunction with our oil furnace. And, Chad also worked with us to replace a spiderweb of flex duct in our basement ceiling that our remodeling contractor had left behind. Last but not least, the installation people were awesome as well.... they arrived on time, were professional, the work looked clean, left the basement spotless and finished on time. John Nugent and Sons have been a quality service and repair company for numerous jobs and appliances in a home or business. I have used them for my home needs of Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC. Their knowledge and attitude are unmatched and when there are suggested repairs, they keep the customers need and financial ability in mind. I have never been up-sold into a product that is not needed. If the repair is costly they let you know up-front the total and possible options. I have also used them for the commercial swimming and tennis facility that I manager during the summer. When it came time to repair a collapsed waste line, Nugent had no problem getting a backhoe and digital reader to identify the exact spot and dig with precision. This resulted in a bill 1/2 of the other bidders. Can say enough about them and would recommend over any other company. read more

I wasn't sure what was going wrong with our whole house humidifier, so I called this company, hopeful that they could check it out for me. To my surprise and delight, technician Jason Yim was available that very afternoon. He came out, identified the problem, and gave me an estimate and recommendation for what to do next. We are having him come back out to do that repair. Even better, though, was that he paid attention to what I was telling him about our experience with the humidifier and suggested that he perform a furnace check, which I gladly accepted, and he was able to identify and repair a concern that could have caused quite an inconvenient problem in the future. Everyone with whom I have spoken has been wonderfully courteous and responsive and I definitely appreciate their attention to detail and follow up. I highly recommend this company. read more

Excellent customer service! We have been with John Nugent and Sons for over four years. In 2012 our great technician, Nick G., repaired our air conditioning unit the day before the infamous derecho hit, and my wife had just had ankle replacement surgery. Nick had the part in his truck and was able to fix the unit without wait, and we had air conditioning throughout the derecho ordeal. We had Nugent and Sons replace our central heating and air the same year, and the work was professional, clean and on-time. Since then we have had the same technician, Nick, performing the summer and winter maintenance checks. We have been using John Nugent & Sons for years, and we always go back because Nugent & Sons does the job right. On the hottest summer days when there are many calls for A/C work, Nugent & Sons still will make it out to my home for the diagnosis, many times within hours. If they have the part on the truck they will fix the issues right away. The price is fair, the service is excellent, and all of their service reps are polite and professional. I just had a blower motor and capacitor burn out due to electrical storms. Nugent and Son's came out to my home, diagnosed and repaired the unit in under one hour. Earlier this summer a capacitor on my AC compressor was diagnosed and replaced within hours of my call. On these hot days I am grateful to have my AC back on quickly. We were informed they would contact us within a few days to schedule the replacement. More than a month later, after numerous unanswered calls and messages, I finally reached someone who scheduled the replacement for the end of that week. However, we were then told the labor cost would be $1,500. The installers themselves were great, but unfortunately the experience with the company left a very bad impression. The installation took a little over an hour, and when I called to ask about the labor charge, I was told it was simply a flat installation fee. It felt like the warranty ultimately provided little value because the labor cost essentially offset any benefit. I reached out to discuss paying what seemed like a fair labor amount and to see if there was any flexibility, but true to the overall experience, my call was never returned. There are too many companies that value customer service and long-term relationships to continue supporting one that doesn't respond or work toward a reasonable solution. Losing a long-time customer may not matter to them, but it matters to me. I would recommend looking elsewhere, as my experience was that the warranty meant very little, communication was poor, and management never made an effort to resolve the situation. Reading other reviews, it all makes sense.

The only reason I continue to use Bowmans is the warranty. There are many, many other choices of companies for others. Choose wisely, not Bowmans. June 2026: We are now six months without HVAC and I just found out Bowmans never ordered the parts to repair my HVAC... even though it is fully warrantied for parts and labor by them. And now the office manager Jennifer will not return my phone calls after getting American Standard (Trane) involved. May 2026: My HVAC system is under a parts and labor warranty with Bowmans. However, they have failed to properly service the system or obtain the necessary parts to complete repairs for over four months. As a result, we have been left without both air conditioning and heat. Despite the urgency of this issue, there has been no clear timeline for repair, no meaningful communication, and no resolution. Their lack of responsiveness and failure to act demonstrate a concerning disregard for the situation.

As a homeowner, I don't know whether the issue is the recalled electrode, the humidifier itself, the wiring, or the HVAC controls. That's exactly why I hired an HVAC company--to diagnose the problem. Instead, technician Silvio Guerrero immediately stated there would be two separate charges before inspecting a single component. I even suggested we set the recall aside and simply use the visit to diagnose why my humidifier wasn't working. Rather than inspecting anything or explaining what the charges covered, he repeatedly said, "It's two charges," stated he was very busy with other service calls and didn't have time to deal with this, told me to call the office, suggested I hire another company, and left. My HVAC system itself is brand new and working perfectly. My humidifier, however, is wired into the HVAC control board. I was not asking for an HVAC repair--I was asking for my humidifier to be diagnosed. If checking the HVAC control board as part of diagnosing the humidifier required an additional charge, that should have been explained after inspecting the system. Instead, the moment the discussion involved the HVAC control board, it seemed to automatically become a separate charge without anyone even looking at the equipment. What made the experience even worse was management's response. Instead of listening to my concerns, I was told I was "argumentative" and accused of "double dipping." That accusation was both unfair and insulting. I never asked for free work or refused to pay for legitimate diagnostics. I simply expected the technician to inspect the problem, explain what he found, identify what was covered by the recall, explain any additional charges, and then let me decide how to proceed. This entire experience reflected poor communication, impatience, and a lack of professionalism from both the technician and management. Customers deserve a proper diagnosis and a clear explanation before being asked to authorize additional charges--not assumptions, accusations, and a technician who walks away without inspecting the problem. I have completely lost confidence in Mannix Heating & Cooling and will never use this company again.

He suggested a method that would save me cost and aggravation in the installation process (viz., the closet housing one of the units had a narrow opening and some other estimators wanted to rip out the door frame, which Mr. Kapur determined was unnecessary.) The pricing of replacement HVACs was competitive and the installation crew was respectful, hard-working and very competent, finishing all of the project in under one day. I am very satisfied with everything Mannix did on my property.
