And zero surprise to no one, I don't need any repairs to my HVAC. Had another reputable, family owned HVAC company come up and tell me that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my unit. John Nugent & Sons was going to try and charge me $633 for work that was not needed. Be careful with these people and find another reputable company to do business with. read more

Kenny made a Saturday call over Easter weekend to address a problem I was having with the Carrier thermostat that Nugent had installed 2 years ago. Kenny did a thorough check of the system and made sure everything was in working order before leaving. And as a sidelight, he noticed an undetected problem with one of our smoke detectors and made arrangements for Nugent to make a return call to take care of it. Nugent and Sons has installed furnace, AC, and upgraded electrical panel for us and they are definitely my go to contractor for all things electrical. Highly recommend. And highly recommend Kenny. I appreciated his thoroughness, knowledge, and expertise and especially, his professional, yet totally friendly and warm manner. read more

I am thrilled with the under cabinet lighting completed today! Highly recommend John Nugent and Sons! Thank you for your expertise, professionalism, and artistic work! read more

John Nugent & Sons - Under cabinet lightning. - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - McLean, Virginia

I hired John Nugent & Sons of McLean, VA to work on my mini-splits because the units had stopped blowing cold air. They sent Jonathan "Jona" Garay to my house. He tested for system leaks and found none. He researched until he was able to fix the problem, which saved me from having to install a new system, which would have been prohibitive for me. In the future, I will request Jona for any plumbing-related issues. Rosemary D read more

Had a big plumbing leak in my basement. Was told the first appointment I could get was 24 hours later the next day. Was sent an invoice by Nugent for work that was not ever done. Was told that I could get an appointment for HVAC repair which has been totally messed up. Now, at 30 April, the soonest they can get me an appointment is 28 May. I had Nugent install a generator system to operate my upstairs AC unit. Was later told by Nugent HVAC technician that my generator was not hooked up to my AC and, even if it had been, the generator did not have the capacity to handle the AC unit they had previously installed. Do what you will with this information. On the phone now and was told that the reason this last appointment was missed was because someone in Nugent mistakenly put the wrong date, meaning the wrong month, on their calendar for my servicing. This is kind of a clown show at Nugent. Nugent needs to spend less on TV ads and more on customer service. read more

Nick came to my house this morning to perform the inspection and maintenance on my ac/ heating system. Nick is always very punctual, kind, respectful and extremely knowledgeable. He is one of the best technicians I have ever had. He gives instructions on what I can do to make my unit run as efficiently as possible and make it last longer. I will always request Nick to be the technician when I need service read more

For 25 years now, Nugent & Sons has been my go-to contractor for all things HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. Six weeks ago my furnace finally succumbed to old age. Juan, Alonso, and Luis arrived promptly and expertly installed a new Carrier system. Over Thanksgiving weekend, we had lights flickering and breakers tripping. Jonathan, the on-duty electrician gave us expert advice that potentially avoided a fire at our electrical panel. On Monday morning, Matt arrived and quickly diagnosed the problem and installed a new breaker box and surge protector. Devin helped finish up the job. Nugent technicians are highly skilled and professional and can be counted for all your HVAC, plumbing, and electrical needs! I hope I don't need to call them anytime soon, but Nugent is definitely on my speed dial. read more

They are KNOWLEDGEABLE, RELIABLE and HONEST! Every time I have hired them, their electricians (Doug and Justin) have provided excellent work. They arrive on time, diagnose the problem, clearly explain it and provide a detailed estimate. Every time I have hired them, it has been an emergency and they have been able to resolve it the same day. Recently, I had a HUGE electrical problem on my hands and Justin came out and was immediately able to resolve the problem for me. He could have taken advantage of the situation, but instead he was honest and incredibly helpful. I am grateful beyond words! Thank you Justin!!! I highly recommend John Nugent & Sons! read more

Let me Nugent & Sons has been our go to for everything from plumbing to HVAC to electrical. Every technician we've worked with has been sharp, professional. Fast problem solvers on the first visit, every time. Their response time is fantastic, and the follow-up is just as strong. Highly recommend ! they're our household MVP's read more

We have a "top of the line" Carrier heat pump system installed by Nugent that is LESS than 2 years old and this is the second summer that we are going multiple DAYS without AC. This system has not EVER worked for an entire summer! It's currently 86 degrees in our bedrooms. Not sure if it's the system or the install but I currently regret both with every fiber of my being. What makes it worse is that when you call with these issues, they offer you NOTHING! Both years/times, we have had to escalate and call multiple times and BEG for help! We've paid them thousands and are spending even more money in fans, take out foods, cooling units, etc. just trying to make our home livable! ZERO stars! read more

Writing a review for Jason Yim. My experience was great! I was in tears about my AC and he put me at ease and made me laugh. He was very thorough and methodically checked everything to diagnose the problem. My system had shut off and my air handler and heat pump were both iced up. He went above and beyond to fix the problem. He checked everything and made sure my AC system was working. He made recommendations. This company is top notch and I would recommend Jason and this company to everyone. I called on Saturday and a few hours later, Jason Yim had arrived. read more

I will never hire this company again. First of all, they removed my bypass humidifier without my consent. They also installed vents in the basement, but it did not resolve the airflow issue in the basement. They advised that a mini split wasn't necessary to resolve the issue. After numerous attempts to have them come over to the house and check out the issue, they finally inspected the install and offered to provide a discount on a mini split. However, I cannot rely on their work to install a mini split. They are also very poor about returning phone calls and emails. read more

This plumbing recommendation, and Fabian specifically, came from a neighbor on a group e-mail. There are 120 units in my complex and we all have the same old plumbing. This neighbor used them to upgrade after it started leaking. Several other neighbors responded to the e-mail that they had the same leaking problem. So, I decided to upgrade the pipes before it leaked and avoid an emergency situation. Scheduling the inspection call and the work was easy. The amount was the same as for the neighbor although I was hoping for a little less since I was not in an emergency situation. They took 1/2 deposit when I made the appt and 1/2 after the work was completed. The work was done fast and looked good. . They did a follow up call too to see if I was happy. read more

We had a bit of a plumbing nightmare unexpectedly pop-up in mid-January that continued to baffle numerous technicians for over 6 weeks. The first two plumbing firms I contacted were serious, well-established firms and the technicians quite capable......but this was a peculiar mystery that continued to stump the pros. The third company that I contacted was John Nugent & Sons. The technicians who came to the house -- Zam & Micheal -- were very thorough, performed a detailed top-down diagnostic and finally solved a problem that had bedeviled a number of other professionals for almost 2 months. These gentlemen saved the day! All I can say is that if you need some serious problem solvers, these are the guys that you want showing up at your door. Rolf Dammann Arlington, VA read more

I couldn't be more pleased. Installed new breaker panel and five outlets. From whomever answered the phone the first time, to the final walk through today, professional. Justin was the master electrician who walked through what I wanted, offered advice, was the lead on the install, and walked me through the work after it was completed. Oh, he also vacuumed up after himself. During each interaction he wore a mask and also wore booties when in the house. He answered questions with patience. He was the consummate professional. read more

The absolute best without a doubt. Their quote was much less than two others, they arrived and did the work on time, and they left me with a spotless home. I've recommended them to all my neighbors, and I recommend them to you too. read more

I decided to try this company because of all the positive reviews. Well, the HVAC tech showed up 1.5 hours after the 12-4pm window I was given. We were headed out the door for dinner when the tech finally showed up. So, I took 8 hours of leave from work and waited all afternoon for this company. I'm giving 2 stars because the lady on the phone was super nice and was knowledgeable about HVAC and the tech who did show up was polite. I'm going to try another company. read more

Nugent use to be price reasonable - now charging over $400/hr for low level plumbing related efforts

I replaced my HVAC with them in 2021. A few months ago heat wasn't working. I called them, they came out and charged me 1k. Said something that should've been connected wasn't and I needed to pay 1k for freon since it "vanished". When I asked the chances of something like this happening, I was told 1 in a million. I would not recommend this company. They made $$$ last year and I never would have expected to owe an additional 1k a year after the system was replaced. The manager I spoke to was less than kind or friendly and pretty much just said this was poor luck. But really, seems suspicious. read more

I was disappointed after many fabulous reviews. I had JNS come out to assess my AC and what appears to be a leak from the pipe entering my house. However, despite describing the problem on the phone the day prior, the technician had no solutions nor offered to investigate further. He suggested I hire a handy man (?) For a company that claims to offer pluming, HVAC, and electrical services what can a "handy man" do that they cannot? I still had to pay $98 for the "service call" despite the technician not doing anything but look at my ceiling and confirm there is likely a leak. We are new home owners and called JNS because their sticker was on our HVAC unit and had installed the unit a few years ago for the previous owners. I assumed they would take responsibility for their previous work. read more

I had a heat emergency last week, as we were approaching the coldest week of the season. I called John Nugent and Sons that afternoon and they were able to find a tech to come out the very next day. They arrived well-within the scheduled timeframe and diagnosed the problem. They were able to secure the part - not an easy accomplishment in today's times but they must have great relationships with suppliers. They sent a rep two hours north to pick up the part and had my heater in excellent working order that afternoon. They're my go to - a family business that treats clients like family. read more
