Had Mann In install a UV light and filter cabinet. Shortly after, we experienced issues with our unit. They replaced coils on our unit but that didn't solve the issue. They came out 10+ times but couldn't fix or diagnose the issue. On top of that, they fought us on the charges even though we had to replace the unit. Save the hassle and go with Meade's for your HVAC service. read more

Said they could fix the compressor for $2k only to not fix it and walk away from the job. They did reimburse for 1/2 so it's something read more

Reliable and reasonably priced. Great to work with. I've purchased two systems and have had annual contracts for years.

We have been using Mann-In for well over 10 years. Since they were from Chantilly and had such a great reputation I wasn't sure we could even afford to use these guys. I am here to tell you they're worth every penny. Twice a year we contract them to do a thorough cleaning and inspection of our HVAC system. Since they are out here on a regular basis we have a regular relationship. Their technicians are polite, friendly, and very professional, they actively recruit through the high schools for young people that want to get into the trades. When we were having a unit replaced some years ago, all of the technicians were very clean and tidy wore booties and were very cognizant and kind to my little 16 pound pug. This week I sent out an email requesting the services of a senior tech to diagnose a possible moisture issue in my home. They sent a young man with over 22 years experience. He did a thorough inspection of the machine that he actually installed (some years ago) and then relayed to me that my concerns were legitimate, but were mainly due to the overly hot and overly humid summer. This inspection took no longer than 15 or 20 minutes. The bill for this trip was $165 which I happily paid. The fact that these guys are in homes 10-12times per day and encounter many the same problems over and over again means that their ability to diagnose issues is quite good. I have had Mann-In to complete some quite complex HVAC installations and rerouting of ducting, etc. all of these projects have been done to a very high level and to our complete satisfaction and for a price that I considered to be fair. When people jump online and are looking somebody that they can trust at the last minute, I kind of laugh if you find a company that you like can you build up that relationship, when there's an emergency, you already have somebody in your back pocket who you can trust. Mann-In is my HVAC go to, there is no plan B. I don't need one. read more

We selected Mann-In to do a complete HVAC replacement with the Carrier Infinity system, having previously using Mann-In at another home we owned before. Excellent communication from the initial quote to the installation process. I would highly recommend them for your HVAC needs. read more

Mann-In replaced our HVAC a month ago. Think in terms of Apple versus a PC. Six companies gave estimates. Some came with no explanation. Others tried to sell things we didn't need. After going over all the bids, we went with Mann-In: the salesman was smooth, but explained the options well. A guy came ahead of time to measure and double check what equipment they would need. The installers showed up on time, were super neat and super polite, and finished on time. The foreman of the installation team ensured we understood exactly how the equipment works before he left. And most importantly, the new HVAC works well, is quieter, and appears to be more efficient. They'll get the fifth star in 10 years -- if the equipment is still working as well then as it does now. read more

I highly recommend Mann-In for any of your HVAC needs. We used them for reducting our entire home, as well as replacing our entire HVAC system and they certainly exceeded all of our expectations! Buck is one of the most knowledgable HVAC technicians I have ever met, and he carefully reviewed and explained everything to us to fully ensure of our comfort and satisfaction before any of the work was to be done. Buck performs the initial consultations and went out of his way to fully explain and resolve all questions and concerns. Chuck, the owner of the company, was fully involved throughout the entire process (from start to finish). Chuck came out to our house to perform a full inspection and came up with a very creative and well thought out design for rerouting the ducts in our home. Mann-In was able to accommodate reducting our home in ways several other highly-rated HVAC companies could not. They are true experts in HVAC and really care about the work they perform. The technicians that performed the reducting of our home and installation of the new HVAC system did a fantastic job. They were very courteous, thorough and clean (they even vacuumed the rooms they worked in daily). It has been several months with the new system and new ducts and we are beyond happy. The air is so much cleaner, temperature is fully regulated in every room, and we fully trust Mann-In to take care of us for all of our future servicing needs. Thank you Mann-In! read more

Another terrific Mann-In installation! After 18 years, the Carrier heat pump used to heat and cool our upstairs was no longer able to properly cool, so we reached out to Mann-In who'd installed a hybrid gas heat pump in our basement about 11 years ago. Once again we were quoted a great price. And, this time, Mann-In was able to include a free $1000 Carrier air purifier tested to be effective killing (rather than attempting to trap) COVID, influenza etc. germs. The installation team arrived promptly at 8AM, following COVID safety and installation protocols, wearing masks, placing tarps to protect our wood floors and etc. One of the great things was their ability to professionally run a new refrigerant line from the outside unit, through our garage, down into our partially-finished basement and then up to the attic to the new air handler. Conduit was used to protect the outside line and the portion of the line that runs along the garage floorboard. As you may know, the copper tube used for the refrigerant can be easily kinked and ruin the connection, so the ability of the Mann-In pros to efficiently perform this task was rather remarkable, and we couldn't hope for a better appearance. The entire job was done at 3:30 with everything tidied up, just as they'd predicted. Everything is running perfectly. Just like having a great doctor, it's good to have the great folks at Mann-In available to keep our home environment safe and wonderfully comfortable. Thank You Mann-In! read more

We have called Mann-in 4 or 5 times over the past 5 years and they have done great work each time. They have always been professional, friendly, and knowledgeable, and taken the time to explain things clearly. Called them late on a Wednesday afternoon and they were here early Thursday morning, ordered the part, and were back to install mid-afternoon the same day. read more

I bought a new blower and heat pump from Mann-In in 2010 based on a recommendation from my neighbor. I have never regretted it. No issues for the first few years but as the system has aged I have had fabulous service. They answer calls immediately and I usually have some one here to make repairs the same day. They have also been amazing scheduling around my work schedule. Kudos to this business - truly top notch. read more

Doing some kitchen remodeling, we had a challenge about what to do with two hvac ducts to the upstairs that were in a kitchen wall that was being removed. I called Mann-In based on recommendations from neighbors in the Next Door app. Long story short, they came up with a creative and affordable solution which was to install a ductless mini-split unit for the upstairs. They were terrific and the entire installation was done in less than a day.. they showed up at 8am and were done by 1pm! Highly recommend these folks. - Bob Saunders read more

We converted our house from propane to natural gas and needed someone to come in to the house and do the conversion on the furnaces and cooktop. The challenge was we had moved out-of-state, the house was empty and was on the market for sale. Ron handled our account and went beyond our expectations, working with (and waiting for) Washington Gas to ensure the connection was converted properly and then taking care of everything inside the house, including changing the orifices in the cook-top. Ron went out to the house multiple times due to circumstances beyond his control but kept to the originally proposed price which was lower then other companies who quoted on the job! Thanks to Ron, we were able to feel comfortable knowing that the house was in good hands!! Anita read more

Been using Mann-In for most of the time since the mid-1990's when they did my Oil-to-Gas HVAC conversion. Always high quality work. They used to have a salesman who annoyed me (he's long gone), so I went with another company for the install of my current HVAC system in 2010 after a home remodeling. I wish I hadn't. There were issues with the system that the installing company could never quite resolve. The Mann-In tech fixed it on his first visit last year. :)) Last Christmas Eve our water heater went out in the afternoon. I called them for help, and on the morning of 12/26 they installed our new water heater, with the company owner there to assist his plumber. Great guys. They may not be the cheapest, but you'll get what you pay for with Mann-In. When it comes to something as important as the home HVAC, reliability and competence are critical to keeping the system running properly, and I'm glad I can count on them. read more

I can't say enough how glad I am to have found this company!! They fixed two major issues for me and went about and beyond with service and knowledge. I had a brand new Carrier Green Speed system in August 2017 (very complicated modulating furnace) through another installer (bad move). The heat never worked from the start and my original installer (who I have 3 year labor warranty) could not figure the problem. Furnace had major problems -- overheating, shutting off, had codes... My installer who was Carrier Authorized, still no luck... Its been a cold winter and has not been fun... so finally in January 2018 I went onto the Carrier website and found the most awarded and trained Carrier dealer... which let me to Mann-In. Trevor came out and I explained the issues in detail and he made some tweaks to the system and fixed it first time. Tweaks that my installer was not trained on and literally had no clue about. Trevor was extremely knowledgeable about this system and even called back the next day to confirm that there was also a major install fault with the way the intake air (return air) is coming into my furnace.. Extremely appreciated!! My next bad luck heating experience this winter happened last week on my other system, an older Burnham hot water boiler. I called Mann-In 24 hour emergency service and they called right back. I explained the problem and they advised they could come out but would most likely have to get the part in the morning, and if I could wait until then it would save me a trip fee. He was completely honest and was looking out for my best interests completely -- which I really appreciate. Mann-In sent Colt out first thing in the morning, he spent several hours with the boiler taking the whole thing apart and thoroughly cleaning and tuning it up, something the last maintenance tune up that I bought as an Angies List deal, clearly did not do. Colt put everything back together, tested it and got it working like new again. Amazing. It's extremely hard to find a knowledgeable, fair HVAC company in the DC area and I've not had good luck with my past dealings... Mann-In is a needle in a haystack company with great service, fair prices and no up-selling on things you do not need. I wish I found them sooner. read more

Just replaced my entire HVAC system with the Carrier Infinity. Got 4 separate quotes and decided to go with Mann-In for several reasons. 1. Price was competitive 2. Took time to understand your needs and genuinely seemed interested in selling you the right system 3. Seemed very knowledgeable 4. No negative ratings on various opinion sites including this site. Those were the reasons we went with Mann-In. Now, I will describe our experience with the actual work. The owner came to do final measurements and explained what he was planning to do beforehand. He also recommended some common sense solutions to issues we were having with our old system around clogged pipes that flooded our basement. He recommended adding a pan and raising the furnace on top of the pan and added an automatic shut off in case water reached a certain level. Who knew pipes from water condensation could clog. He did this at no additional charge. Not sure why all HVAC systems do not come with this prevention? Pipes from HVAC clogged at brother's home as well causing serious damage to his wood floors...so beware. The crew were very efficient, professional and knowledgeable. It seemed as if they were in and out. Knew exactly what they were doing and didn't seem to lose a step. The owner stopped by near the end to do final inspection. So, if you are looking for a HVAC contractor, and you do not wish to gamble on several thousand $$$, Mann-In should be on your short list. read more

As far as HVAC professionals in the Northern VA area these guys and girls are the best! I had 8 estimates for a full system replacement and they came in very competitive and also really took the time to explain the pros and cons of the systems they recommended. I cannot say enough great things about the installation process. They arrived on time and worked with German precision, they put drop cloths on EVERYTHING, my closet that has attic access was completely covered with drop cloths and they even protected my DRIVEWAY and yard. Yeah, you read that right....they covered my driveway with a drop cloth! After the installation they made sure that I understood how the system worked and assured me that if I had any questions I could call and they would come back anytime. read more

I had my HVAC system replaced today and I couldn't be happier! Mann-In is the friendliest, most customer-oriented company I've dealt with in a long while. The crew, headed by Marc, worked outside in the bitter cold (wind chill of 3 degrees) without a single complaint. Everything was installed smoothly and quickly (in fact, two hours faster than predicted). Afterwards, my new thermostat was explained to me in detail. I highly recommend Mann-In! read more

I needed to have my HVAC system replaced, and I spent weeks researching various brands, options, and contractors. If you're reading this review, then you already know that it's one of the most vexing processes a homeowner can experience. Do you go with Carrier, Trane, or Lennox? Do you go with an AC/Gas Furnace or a Heat Pump? What's a reasonable price and how much can I expect to save in energy cost with these new high efficiency systems? I quickly realized this is one of those few instances where there's almost too much information. Everyone has a bias for a particular brand (mostly for personal and not truly objective reasons). Even when you decide on a particular brand, there are so many equipment combinations that an apples-to-apples comparison between contractors is next to impossible. In the end, the more I researched, the further away I was from making an informed decision. That's until I spoke with the folks at Mann-In. The entire experience from start to finish was flawless. Everyone from the person scheduling appointments to the estimator to the installers were courteous and professional. The estimator was highly knowledgeable and explained all the possible solutions in a clear and concise manner. He wasn't pushy, and not once did I feel like he was pressing for the most expensive configuration or unnecessary options. When time came for installation, the crew showed up right on time. They came with piles of drop cloth to ensure no damage would be made to the finished floors. They made themselves available for questions throughout the installation process, even though I was clearly interrupting the flow of progress with my random questions. Overall, I was highly impressed with the quality of their work and professionalism. You might think this level of service requires a lot more money, but you'd be wrong. I got quotes from 7 contractors, and I found Mann-In's proposal highly competitive. I've only had the system for a short period of time, but so far so good. If you're looking for a no nonsense contractor with reasonable prices, I highly recommend Mann-In. read more

Came on time. Found the problem in a few mins. Ordered a part for us, came back in a couple of days with the part. Had my A/C die on one of the hottest days of the year. Called Mann-In and made an appointment for the following day. They came in the time frame they said they would. The technician took a look and said the blower motor had stopped working, but it might be just the solenoid, which would be a lot cheaper. He replaced the solenoid and the motor began working. Then he checked the freon and found it was a bit low, so serviced it. Didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need, was fast, professional. Highly recommend. read more

Well, the old AC finally died, and I decided to replace it with a hybrid energy efficient furnace and heat pump. I interviewed several contractors, and picked Mann-In. ( found Mann-In from Consumer's Checkbook.) Mann-In is a small local firm that has been in business over 27 years. Their staff is extremely competent and professional. I do not normally take the time to write reviews so trust me that this company is one of a kind. I own 4 homes so I really perform my due diligence by checking reviews on multiple sites, the Better Business Bureau, and by interviewing numerous businesses when looking for trust worthy and fairly priced contractors and repair companies. Prior to finding Mann-In Air Conditioning and Heating, I thought I had found a good company. Well, read on. I was ready to have my entire air conditioner replaced in one of my rental units due to another company's suggestion that it was not worth repairing and who provided an extremely high quote to add some coolant and repair the core bolts outside. In addition to the service call charge, it would be $100 to fix the core bolts, and over $450 to add the very "scarce" coolant. Then he stated that even after adding the coolant, the AC would only last another year at most and would most likely keep leaking because there is most likely undetectable micro-leaks too small to detect and repair (not sure how he knew they were there since they were too small to detect). His charge to do this temporary fix was over $600 which I almost paid. He of course explained the virtue of a newly installed unit. To my rescue came Man-In Air Conditioning and Heating who I found online. I expected the same answer as the first company. Colton was a breath of fresh air and everything about them seemed different than others I had called. You could tell that these people were hard working individuals, down to earth and trust worthy, cared about their job, and highly trained in their field. Colton quietly reviewed the system, used very advanced leak detection equipment which he explained, told me there were no leaks, and deduced that the system was just low on coolant most likely due to the core bolts outside missing rubber rings. He replenished the coolant (no excessive up charge for "scarcity" like the other company), replaced the rubber rings around the bolts at no charge, and said the system was only 9 years old and he did not see any reason to replace it. No sales pitch!! He simply fixed my AC for charge of the service call and the cost of the coolant. I trust these people and will use them again for every home that I own, now and in the future. read more

Mann-In did an excellent job replacing our furnace. The sales rep, Stan Lee, provided a couple of model and price options, and explained the pros and cons of each. He answered all of our questions and was never pushy. The technicians that installed the furnace, Nathan and Trevor, did an excellent job and kept our home very clean. They left the area around the furnace looking better than before! Their prices were also competitive. We got several quotes, and their quote was only 70 bucks higher than the lowest quote, and for a furnace that had better consumer report reviews than the system offered by the competitor. Will definitely recommend Mann-In to our friends and family. read more

There's a reason Mann-In has lots of 5 star ratings. And frankly, I almost don't want to say how good they are because once people know, they'll all want Mann-In. Our house is only 3 years old. Last year our furnace would intermittently lose heat. We had 2 HVAC companies take a look, both giving their best guesses and diagnosing different "problems". Somehow the system kicked into gear and continued working last year without being fixed. But this year the heat kicked off permanently. I had a third HVAC company come in; after spending 15 minutes trying to guess the problem the tech told me, "some Carrier systems are just lemons. I recommend you bite the bullet and get the new system you need." The final HVAC company to analyze the problem was Mann-In. Colt from Mann-In happens to be a Carrier expert. He was able to find and fix the problem for less than $200. He also recommended slightly reconfiguring the duct work at the system to make it more efficient. Mann-In is an impressive company that embodies the old-fashioned work ethic: do the job well for a reasonable price. I HIGHLY recommend this company! read more
