I contracted with Autumn Electric to install a reliable home security camera system. Autumn Electric installed 2 sets of Ring security cameras, 1 for the front yard and 1 for the back. I went with their option to install the ones that came with the extras that I knew I would appreciate down the road such as floodlights, audio, night vision etc. It's been almost a full week and I love the cameras. I'm actually having fun watching the deer, foxes and other night-time wildlife that wander the neighborhood. Autumn Electric was punctual, efficient. They even encouraged me to call-back should I want the camera angles shifted to provide different coverage. These guys are book-smart and street-smart when it comes to anything electric. Darrell (the dispatcher) is easy to deal with & always reconfirms things via email or phone call. One reason I chose Autumn Electric is because Dave (the owner) provided 3 different estimates each of which had different capabilities. I was very at-ease with Dave's electrical knowledge as well as his familiarity with various brands. After installing a new toilet in my master bathroom, I decided also to buy a high tech washlet toilet seat that automatically opens and closes the lid, heats the seat, and sprays water. However, there wasn't a power outlet by the toilet, so I contacted Autumn Electric to install a GFCI outlet. They gave me a reasonable estimate, and they were professional and courteous on the phone. They also gave me a two hour time frame when they would show up to do the work, and their specialist Chris arrived punctually on time. I was worried that some drywall would need to be cut open to install the power outlet, but Chris was able to go into the attic and fish a power connection down inside the wall from the attic with no drywall damage (the attic is directly above the master bathroom). I appreciated Chris' professionalism and I was pleasantly surprised when the cost of the job came in about $100 less than their estimate. He could have easily just charged me the full estimate cost, but instead gave me the lower price since the job was quicker and less complicated than expected. Chris mentioned that all of the technicians at Autumn Electric get thorough supervision, experience and training before they are allowed to be sent out alone to do work for the company, and that high level of training was clearly evident to me. I had an appointment window and was notified 30 minutes prior to the end of the window (11am) that the technician would be late and would arrive at 12:30. 12:30 came and went without any other calls. At 2:20 there was a knock at my door. Needless to say I did not answer, as I had already gone about the rest of my day, and was too irritated by their rudeness. Later that evening I received a voicemail that they were sorry they missed me--that no one answered when they came by; never acknowledging how late they were and trying to pin the missed appointment on me. I don't have that kind of time to reschedule, nor any interest. read more

Reliable and professional electricians in Vienna. Pat came to our home to repair the kitchen ceiling light. It turns out the wiring was for incandescent dimmer bulbs only, so we had inadvertently been short-circuiting the newer CFC bulbs. Autumn Electric charges you a minimum of $135 for service visits up to 1 hour. This seems a bit expensive, but worth every penny if you need a professional. Pat was helpful and suggested we might want to change our setting to remove the dimmer and allow for flexibility in using CFC or LED bulbs. He made the changes within an hour, and we can now use the newer bulbs. I would recommend this service if you are not a DIY electrician or require major electrical work in your home! We'll definitely call them again if we have major repair needs. read more

Our power was going off and on for a week in 1/2 of our home! Autumn Electric was able to prioritize us and slip us in within hours of our call due to a cancellation. We so appreciated their knowledge and professionalism. Of course when Rick arrived, it was back on and all their tests registered normal. Rick took the time to explain in detail to my husband some simple and safe things he could do when the power went out again, to troubleshoot. The following day the power did go out and my husband was able to troubleshoot using what Rick had showed him. We figured out that our issue was something the local power company would have to handle. Impossible to justify the cost. We have tried to use Autumn Electric Co several time now and every time they lose the work because they are at least double the price of the next electrician. I know that there is a price you pay for good electrical work but not at that rate. We have received several better offers from similar rated companies every time. It is almost as if Autumn is bidding ridiculous rates not to get the job. It is a head scratcher at best. Autumn Electric Co is a local Vienna business and we love local. Almost every company that we use is from our immediate area but Autumn unfortunately will not be on that list. It is irking to see business hiking up their prices simply because they are in a certain zip code. We've used Autumn Electric to heavy up our electrical panel, install recessed lighting, install various lighting fixtures, ceiling fans, and change electrical plugs. The electricians here are professional, prompt, courteous, and very competitively priced. They're also exceptionally tidy, even when doing jobs that involve cutting holes into drywall (a task that I'd expect to result in the generation of dust). We've also consistently had good luck in getting next-day or close to next-day service on small jobs (this might literally be luck though, dependent on other clients' cancellations). Working with Autumn Electric was an A+ experience from start to finish. Based on Consumer Checkbook's high rating, we hired the company for a variety of electrical jobs at our house - installing new fixtures, rewiring a problematic bathroom circuit, and, most importantly, installing 10 recessed lights in our kitchen. On his initial visit to scope out the work and prepare an estimate, Dave Barsotti gave a very clear explanation how the work would be done and what to expect. Subsequent messages from Dave provided excellent technical advice on the best types of lights and bulbs to be installed. We were fortunate to have the actual work done by Rick, one of the company's senior electricians and a genuinely nice guy. His professionalism and years of experience were immediately evident as he fine-tuned our proposed layout for the recessed lights so as to produce the best overall result. With the help of his colleague Amilcar, the job (which involved a lot of work in our unfinished, dusty, cramped attic) was completed in several hours. I appreciated that Rick took the initiative to even do a little extra by plugging a hole he found in an HVAC duct in the attic. The kitchen was left in immaculate condition afterwards, and the recessed lights look great and provide perfect illumination. The next day's work of rewiring the bathroom circuit (with no damage to drywall) and fixing a faulty lamp went equally well. When dealing with anything electrical, it's well worth the cost to hire a first-rate professional company to do the job and get it right. We had a near electrical fire this morning as I found a melted charred mess where an outlet was last night. I cut the power and once the fire department confirmed that the fire/damage was just limited to the electrical box I called Autumn because, well, starting with the letter "A" they were the first company I found in the listings. That was the second lucky break I had today! We reached them before 8 am in the morning (I wasn't sure we were even going to get anyone to pick up until 9 am) and Rick was out at 1 pm on the dot as promised. He explained what had happened, told me what he was going to do and asked "do you have any questions or wonderings?" Since I'm a former teacher I always have questions and I totally respected that now, as worried mom, he was open to answering my questions about how to ensure that this doesn't happen again. He worked incredibly quickly and even replugged in my fridge and microwave and moved them back into place (I had pulled them out and run an extension cord into the living room to keep the food cold and make breakfast). He asked me if I had any additional questions or concerns. I mentioned that we were having a problem with the kitchen light - we often had to flip two switches for the light to come on. He said "that's an easy fix, I can do that for you now for no additional cost" and he threw in a new switch (without a dimmer that was causing the problem) for free. When he had heard that I had the Vienna Fire Department over this morning he asked if they had offered his name as a referral - they hadn't, but it turns out that VFD uses Autumn for all their work at the fire house too! read more

After moving to Herndon, VA some 20 years ago, my neighbors highly recommended Dave Barsotti, owner of Autumn Electric, for all my electrical needs. We have used Autumn Electric over the years with great service and reasonable prices. During Dave's last visit to our house, we discussed the overloaded circuits in our house--especially our basement. Dave directed me to install wiring for additional circuits to the electrical panel box, and he would return to attach the wires, commenting that his knees were bad. He stated that we had space in our panel box for additional electrical circuits. However, he is now unwilling to attach the wires in the panel. We are disappointed that he was unwilling to fulfill his prior commitment. read more

So, I called this company based on all of the great reviews, unfortunately my experience was not good. I will say, Darrell was very response via email and always responded promptly. That said, I had an appointment for today - my window was 1230-2pm, but I was told that the electrician would likely arrive closer to 1pm. Not only did they miss the window, no one bothered to call me to let me know they were running late. At 240pm I called Darrell and said Chris had not arrived. Darrell seemed pretty surprised, so I'm not sure if there was a disconnect on their end or what, but that's simply not acceptable. I lost time from work, time sitting here waiting and I have 4 dogs that I keep gated in a separate room when I know someone is going to be coming to my home. This company is top notch! The lights at the end of our driveway had been out for over 2 years. Our handyman had put a new solar cell, another handyman had found an old wire he was sure would work, another electrician ran a new wire in our basement, a master electrician correctly diagnosed the problem, but doesn't do the digging anymore, another electrician had add a new circuit. We had spent over $3000 in 2 years trying to get the lights fixed. I called Autumn Electric based on recommendations. Dave came out and gave us 2 options for fixing the lights. He was out here digging a trench one one of the hottest days of the summer. We went with the low voltage option. Autumn Electric came highly recommended from two neighbors. They came out to give us an estimate and eventually installed recessed lighting and ceiling fans for us. Everything was superb. The electricians showed up right on time for the estimate and the work. The work was well-done and extremely clean; kudos to Rick and his helper. All furniture was moved carefully, everything was covered in a dropcloth, and the electrician tidied up the carpet with a brush and dustpan. Chris has been out go to technician, and he has done amazing work, he has made suggestions that saved us thousands, he has pointed out potential problem areas, and gave us options. I never feel that Chris is trying to jack up his fee to do unnecessary work. We have always gotten air assessments and I will recommend Autumn Electric every time. Some have a problem with what they charge an hour. In the past other contractor firms have not given us calls back, shown up on time, even billed us 6 weeks later. I used Autumn Electric a few years ago at my rental property where a series of 20-something students had done all kinds of things with outlets and wires and cables. Some outlets and light switches did not work. The 1970s townhouse needed a full check-up, so I looked at Consumer Checkbook ratings and found Autumn. The young man who did the work was so wonderful that I had hopes he would marry my daughter. He arrived on time, very polite and professional, and he knew what he was doing. No problems appeared after his work. We have used Autumn twice since then on our own house, once to fix three-way switches that had perplexed two other sets of handymen/electricians and then to fix attic wires chewed by squirrels. Rick did the work and was able to sqeeze into tight spaces that few could manage. Rick called before arriving as I'd requested, Darryl the office scheduler called right back after I left a voicemail, and I even got a reminder call the day before. I made an appointment today with Autumn to have the attic fan and overall wiring checked at my rental property. I recommend this company without hesitation. We own an old farmhouse with a mix of various wiring throughout the home (many years of amateur fixes). One day, one section of the house lost power, and all of the breakers were still on. Autumn Electric sent Chris out very quickly, and he did a masterful job walking through all the possible issues and diagnosing the problem. He tested circuits and receptacles...he checked out the wiring in the crawlspace, but in the end somehow he found a loose connection all the way up in the attic in an obscure junction box. We had Autumn Electric install a NEMA 14-50 outlet in our garage, so that we could use that outlet to charge our Tesla Model X. As other reviews have stated, Autumn Electric provides great service and great customer service. Their price was very competitive with other electricians that we received quotes from. The day of the work, they were on time, friendly, professional and got the job done quicker than the four hours they allotted for the work. Probably took them just a little over two hours. And then they set up the inspection with the Fairfax County Inspector. In the end, it was all very easy for us.
