On the corner of Captain Thomas Road. Can't miss it.

Daughter had nearly given up on finding oysters in the middle of October, but Beach Plum Lobster Farm had them. Actually, she bought the last box. I'm embarrassed to say I didn't get the name of the man who steamed our lobsters. I will call him Bruce because he looked uncannily like Bruce Willis. Bruce was immensely friendly and helpful and actually seemed happy to see us. Possibly that was because we bought the last of the oysters. Sure there are many places where you can buy lobsters (and clams and oysters and other seafood in season), but we were all glad we stopped here. I don't think you will find anyone more interesting to converse with as you wait for your lobsters to steam. If we go back to Ogunquit, we will go back to Beach Plum Lobster Farm.

Admittedly, this spot is both a 'seafood market' and restaurant, though that doesn't mean you can't get a killer meal here. Lobster & Steamers is what you get here and no more, no less. Gravel parking lot entrance. Picnic tables were folded. Totem pole. Located in Ogunquit and not far from Wells- this is a diamond in the rough for sure in every way- but we weren't disappointed. With so much open water in Ogunquit, the seafood- restaurants get to work with, is second to none. Our 2lb meaty Steamers and Lobster were reasonably price and held us over just fine. Beach Plum prides itself on serving the 2 freshest items and you can taste the quality in every bite. FYI- Lobster isn't split or cracked- make sure you have those essentials tools on you. The place is nothing fancy, but the food is superb.

That's a 4 pound lobster. It had a hard day and needed a drink (that is a tall boy for scale)

Ok , you want the perfect lobster for your Maine vacation. You don't mind getting a little messy but you want a fresh delicious critter that's the best value you can get. Here is what you are going to do: Collect your lobster eating supplies- rolls of paper towels, plates, bread, some sides, drinks and an appetite (don't forget the bug spray if you're eating al fresco) Then go to beach plum farms. Understand that they have lobster and clams and drawn butter. That's it for food (you can pick up bibs and crackers too, but I might skip the crackers they will be too small for what you should order) Say hi to Dave, he's good guy but all business (and taking COVID seriously) so have a plan . Tell him how many lobsters you need and what size- make or female if you care. My tip, GO BIG. They get the "monstahs" there, and if you ever wanted a 3 or 4 or more pounder this is your time. Get some clams too. They are delicious Wait as they cook your critter outside in the cauldron. The big ones take 20 min or so. Be patient (it will be hard) Your prize will be delivered in a paper grocery bag in a plastic bag (you were expecting fancier after getting this far in this review?) Need a place to eat? Congdons after Dark a couple of miles north has picnic tables, food trucks and a bar. You'll need to break that shell, hope you brought a hammer, if not there may be a tire iron in your rental car Enjoy (and get some ice cream afterwards)

My 1 1/2 pounder, sweet and succulent!

Super fresh, sweet, awesome lobster!!!! Dave, who's place it is, is a great guy, wonderful to talk to!! This is a true lobster pound, you won't find cooked items like lobster rolls or chowder, BUT he will boil up your lobster to perfection as you wait. Also, prices are absolutely reasonable! Go get yourself a perfect, sweet, fresh Maine lobster, chat with Dave, and check out the incredible totem poles he makes - wow! We wouldn't go anywhere else.

Lobster and steamers-I couldn't wait to dig in so already ate 1 lobster and half the steamers by the time I took this pic

This place was such a find! We spent Labor Day weekend in Ogunquit and of course, I wanted lobster. Since we were camping I wanted to get takeout so we could have dinner by the campfire. I found this place through Yelp and it seemed perfect since it was a lobster farm and not a restaurant where I'd be contending with a lot of fellow tourists that would be trying to have a sit-down dinner. We stopped by a little before dinner time and I was waited on almost immediately. The gentleman inside was very attentive and helped me choose the right "bundle" for me. For $42 I ended up with 2 lobsters, a bowl of steamers and a container of butter (there is a charge for butter because this isn't a restaurant). I seemed to have gotten there just at the right time because people started pulling into their parking lot pretty consistently right after I ordered and I only had to wait about 5 minutes for my food to be ready. I'm sure when it gets busy during peak times the wait must be much longer so going during off peak times if you can is probably best. The man who waited on me assured me that the steamers would be the sweetest ones I ever had with zero sand in them and boy was he right! They were DELICIOUS and a great combination of small clams and larger ones. The lobsters were also perfectly cooked. Overall I felt like it was a great value for my money. It was some of the tastiest and freshest seafood I've had in a long time and I can't wait to go back!

YES it's on a pretty desolate road. YES they're literally just a lobster pound w/ picnic tables outside. YES you get straight steamed lobster or clams here but they're fresh & pretty cheap! you can choose what size lobster you want out of 5 choices & it's more expensive per pound when the lobsters get larger.. we ordered the 2nd largest option ---steamed lobster: yummy, takes ~15 minutes before your food is finished steaming ---steamed clams (2 pounds): remember to rip off the membranes from the feet & they'll be tasty the lobsters & clams cost us $30 PLUS have a vending machine if you need a drink NOTE: they offer free lemons & butter to dress your steamed lobster although the broth they steam your seafood in is pretty flavorful!

    Nikki L.

Must have. Again and again. Very reasonable prices NO FRILLS steamer clams & lobsters only. They do have butter & lemons. We got lemons and drinks at the grocery store and picked up some food to bring back to our rental. Picnic tables outside so you can make a mess and Wash off with a hose. The owners are super friendly. We are coming back next time more clams!!!!

    Bethany V.

Been getting lobsters and steamers here to bring back home for years. They have hands down the cleanest steamers I've ever bought. The lobsters are delicious- sweet, briny- it doesn't get any better. Thanks so much!

    2 lobsters. $12 each

Friendly family owned business. What attracted me to this lobster place, is the pricing! I didn't want something touristy or expensive. Note: this is not a restaurant, but they have benches to eat outside of the store. You can order live food or boiled. The prices vary for the size of the lobster. I ordered the #3 size for $7.99 a pound live. The my recommended that I get two lobsters for $12 each cooked. So I did. And I also got 2 pounds of fresh clams. The owners are very friendly, the business at their home property. The prices are affordable compared to a sit in restaurant. The lobster and clams tasted so fresh and juicy. A cup of butter is $1. Didn't have anything to complain about! Come by and get some clams and lobster! You won't be disappointed.

What an incredible spot in Ogunquit. Little hidden takeout spot with the most incredible food. Extremely rare find. Definitely coming back.

Ask the Community - Beach Plum Lobster Farm

Hi Dave - will you be open at all during the week prior to Christmas 2021? TIA!

Two questions: 1) Do they crack the lobster for you? And 2) Do you have frozen cooked lobster packed for travel?

No, they don't crack them. If you get soft shell you can just use your hands (bring wipes). Otherwise, trust Dave and Tina to help you

Do you have gift cards? We would like to buy a gift card for someone who frequents your place on a regular basis, but I can't find anything on your website (which always links to Facebook, by the way) regarding purchasing gift cards. Thanks.

YES Leslie ! We Do sell gift certificates and or give in store credits, although not online. Hope this helps. Otherwise, please call anytime.…

Does this place shut down for the season? If so when?

Every year is different Mike. Some years we close Jan and Feb depending on the weather and price of lobster. Hope this helps!

The OLP is our favorite restaurant in Ogunquit. The sprawling rustic dining room reminds my wife of sleep away camp. It's a cross between a lobster shack and a traditional restaurant. There's a busy bar and table service, but you go outside to the lobster tank to order lobsters and steamers. The food is excellent. The meal always starts off with freshly baked rolls. Cocktails are generous. The lobster and steamed clams never disappoint. The staff of lobster ninjas pre crack the shells so that you can dismantle your lobster with a wooden pick. One of my kids and some of our friends don't eat lobster. They have been happy with the other entrees, especially the steak and steak tips. The side dishes are surprisingly good. We are always too full for dessert. This is not a perfect restaurant experience. There are no reservations and the waits can be long. Sometimes things don't arrive in sync. I still love this big hearted restaurant where the staff are so nice and all of the important things are done excellently. This place is one of my Ogunquit touchstones.

It's a rustic restaurant, I guess it's really known for their lobster because they have tanks with them outside. I guess you choose your lobster after you are seated, if that's what you want to eat. They weight it and charge you. I didn't want to get a big meal because of the time. They had some good choices, from hamburgers to chicken sandwiches to grilled chicken or steak tips with your choice of mashed or baked potatoes or rice. They had shrimp scampi, spaghetti and meatballs. They had kids meals as well. So we started with the clam chowder and they gave rolls. The clam chowder was good! Next for the main course I ordered the lobster roll, with hot butter and it came with coleslaw and chips. The coleslaw was the best part. Sorry but the lobster was filled but had no taste and it seemed it wasn't really cooked and this is the lobster pound? Known for their lobster! It just had no taste at all and for the price, it wasn't worth it. Too expensive !! My daughter got the lobster pie and it came with baked beans and rice. Wow! First it was very small, and then it had no sauce and no taste whatsoever! Disappointing! And it was expensive for what you got. I guess if we were able to take our time, we could have ordered better options. I liked the restaurant, the waitstaff was friendly and helpful. It was clean, they have booths and tables. They said they only had tables but we saw some booths available. But it was comfortable. There's plenty of parking. But the food we ordered was not worth the price. Again, I guess we didn't pick good choices. I would come back when I'm in town and give it another try.

We arrived without a reservation and were told there would be about an hour wait. The host came across as a bit snarky, although he did offer us seats at the bar, which we appreciated. After being seated, it took about 30 minutes before anyone took our order, followed by another 40 minutes before our food arrived. The bartenders were working incredibly hard and were clearly doing everything they could to keep up with the rush, so I don't fault them at all. Unfortunately, one of our meals arrived cold and was extremely over-salted. The restaurant refunded that dish without hesitation, which I appreciated, but it shouldn't have left the kitchen that way in the first place. From what we could see, the kitchen was seriously backed up and the overall operation wasn't being managed well. The staff deserved better support because they were hustling nonstop while trying to deal with unhappy customers. I hope management addresses these issues because the employees are putting in the effort. With better kitchen execution and smoother operations, this could be a much better dining experience.

It's also a bit ridiculous that they haven't fixed their menu issue. There's going to be wind at the beach, maybe find a way to not have menus fly out into the ocean pretty much every 5 minutes? The menus are also laminated, so they just sit there to not rot and instead pollute the area. I suggest having some sort of hole puncher and a binder ring to give it weight and perhaps anchor it to something because the issue is getting out of hand. Not the best way to have a beach-side restaurant.
