I am a New England girl and have enjoyed steamers my whole life, at Beach Plum Lobster Farm, they have THE CLEANEST, sweetest steamed clams I've ever had anywhere. No need for broth to remove sand! I could eat them daily if given the chance. Not to be missed for any clam lovers. Plus they have high quality butter that you buy along with the already low priced lobsters and steamers. This is a take‑out only spot, and they focus on fresh lobster and clams, which are wild‑caught and packed or cooked to go. The lobsters were tender and sweet, and the clams were also perfectly cooked and delicious. Everything was reasonably priced for the quality, and felt like a great value. Updating my previous review because we're back in 2025 and can confirm that this place is still our favorite. We had numerous lobster dinners at other places, and still wound up repeatedly revisiting Beach Plum Lobster Farm. They steam the lobsters perfectly, the prices work for us, and we don't need a bib to take the lobsters and home and drink them with a nice glass of chardonnay. Sad to see the outdoor tables are gone, but hey, that's life. Dave and Kelly are also very easy to talk to and are very flexible with requests. It's settled - we're coming here at least twice every time we come to Maine. Also got some oysters this time too, which were a pleasure to shuck and went nicely with the lobsters. We're taking some lobster home with us, just like we did last time, and look forward to coming here again next time we're down this way. read more

Daughter had nearly given up on finding oysters in the middle of October, but Beach Plum Lobster Farm had them. Actually, she bought the last box. I'm embarrassed to say I didn't get the name of the man who steamed our lobsters. I will call him Bruce because he looked uncannily like Bruce Willis. Bruce was immensely friendly and helpful and actually seemed happy to see us. Possibly that was because we bought the last of the oysters. Sure there are many places where you can buy lobsters (and clams and oysters and other seafood in season), but we were all glad we stopped here. Admittedly, this spot is both a 'seafood market' and restaurant, though that doesn't mean you can't get a killer meal here. Lobster & Steamers is what you get here and no more, no less. Gravel parking lot entrance. Picnic tables were folded. Totem pole. Located in Ogunquit and not far from Wells- this is a diamond in the rough for sure in every way- but we weren't disappointed. With so much open water in Ogunquit, the seafood- restaurants get to work with, is second to none. Our 2lb meaty Steamers and Lobster were reasonably price and held us over just fine. Beach Plum prides itself on serving the 2 freshest items and you can taste the quality in every bite. FYI- Lobster isn't split or cracked- make sure you have those essentials tools on you. This place is a trip and we love it. The owner, Dave, is an eccentric artist who carves all the wooden sculptures you see around the store. Be prepared for a healthy ribbing and bring cash. He's particular but it's part of the experience. Only two people allowed in the shop at once, no photography. Don't ever call and bother him, just show up and you will get the best lobster prices in the area. You would have to go all the way to Wolf Lobster farm to get prices anywhere near these. I've never tried eating there. I've only bought live lobsters to bring home. Next time I'll try getting some cooked food. I can't wait to go back! read more

Ok , you want the perfect lobster for your Maine vacation. You don't mind getting a little messy but you want a fresh delicious critter that's the best value you can get. Here is what you are going to do: Collect your lobster eating supplies- rolls of paper towels, plates, bread, some sides, drinks and an appetite (don't forget the bug spray if you're eating al fresco) Then go to beach plum farms. Understand that they have lobster and clams and drawn butter. That's it for food (you can pick up bibs and crackers too, but I might skip the crackers they will be too small for what you should order) Say hi to Dave, he's good guy but all business (and taking COVID seriously) so have a plan . Tell him how many lobsters you need and what size- make or female if you care. My tip, GO BIG. They get the "monstahs" there, and if you ever wanted a 3 or 4 or more pounder this is your time. Get some clams too. They are delicious Wait as they cook your critter outside in the cauldron. The big ones take 20 min or so. Be patient (it will be hard) Your prize will be delivered in a paper grocery bag in a plastic bag (you were expecting fancier after getting this far in this review?) Need a place to eat? This place was such a find! We spent Labor Day weekend in Ogunquit and of course, I wanted lobster. Since we were camping I wanted to get takeout so we could have dinner by the campfire. I found this place through Yelp and it seemed perfect since it was a lobster farm and not a restaurant where I'd be contending with a lot of fellow tourists that would be trying to have a sit-down dinner. We stopped by a little before dinner time and I was waited on almost immediately. The gentleman inside was very attentive and helped me choose the right "bundle" for me. For $42 I ended up with 2 lobsters, a bowl of steamers and a container of butter (there is a charge for butter because this isn't a restaurant). I seemed to have gotten there just at the right time because people started pulling into their parking lot pretty consistently right after I ordered and I only had to wait about 5 minutes for my food to be ready. I'm sure when it gets busy during peak times the wait must be much longer so going during off peak times if you can is probably best. The man who waited on me assured me that the steamers would be the sweetest ones I ever had with zero sand in them and boy was he right! They were DELICIOUS and a great combination of small clams and larger ones. The lobsters were also perfectly cooked. Overall I felt like it was a great value for my money. Ahhhh-Mazing! Came here for lobsters but the steamer clams stole the show YUM! I've always had clams cooked in a sauce and/or garlic of some sort but steamed up with the best grass-fed butter they could source... There's nothing but quality here. For the steamer clams, you pluck the clam out of the shell and remove the skin off of the siphon (breathing tube). The owner gave the analogy of removing a sock off your foot which I thought was hilarious but made total sense on how to eat the steamer clam. The staff here was knowledgeable and patient which is a bonus because we didn't know what we were doing but we were told we should come here. Being a yelper I snapped a photo here and there while inside but bf warned me there was a giant photo outside that said "no photos". The owner said for legal reasons they didn't want any photos posted with prices which is understandable. The price of seafood fluctuates and they didn't want to give anyone any false promises on the seafood prices. Since I wasn't taking pics of any of the prices he didn't mind. No frills, no wait staff, and no restrooms here. You order to go or they steam it up for you and you can eat on some picnic benches outback. For dining in the picnic area, they do provide plates & napkins and there is an area to wash your hands. If you have add'l time you can also wander across the street to the garden for a stroll which was recommended by the owner as he grew up out there. read more

Friendly family owned business. What attracted me to this lobster place, is the pricing! I didn't want something touristy or expensive. Note: this is not a restaurant, but they have benches to eat outside of the store. You can order live food or boiled. The prices vary for the size of the lobster. I ordered the #3 size for $7.99 a pound live. The my recommended that I get two lobsters for $12 each cooked. So I did. And I also got 2 pounds of fresh clams. The owners are very friendly, the business at their home property. The prices are affordable compared to a sit in restaurant. The lobster and clams tasted so fresh and juicy. A cup of butter is $1. Husband and wife own and operate this business and we found them to have a really great sense of humor and be super friendly. They went out of their way to make small talk with us and give us a few recommendations for things during our trip in Maine. Donna absolutely love the fresh lobster that they cooked on site for us and we ate out in their little park on a picnic table next to the parking lot. I however am allergic to lobster so I did not partake, so I had the clams which were actually quite good. I am definitely a fan of clams and well eating 2 pounds of clams sounds like a lot I was still a little bit hungry, but Donna was super happy about the monstrous amount of lobster that she got at least. This place is amazing! Went there 3 times while we were staying in Ogunquit for our 25th Anniversary. Got a pair of lobsters and a stick of butter and enjoyed them on the porch of the hotel we stayed at. Hottest and freshest lobsters we ate all week. Came back the next day for 2 pounds of steamers...these are the best around! Finally, we stopped in the morning we were flying back home and had 10 live lobsters packed up to take back to Illinois. My friends and I cooked mashed potatoes and a side of mixed veggies and added a glass (or two) of homemade sangria, but the entree was the lobster itself. OMG !!! Lobster heaven!!!!! The two of us just finished eating 6 lobsters and 2 lbs of clams!!!! Yummmmm!!!! So fresh and perfectly cooked. My daughter and I arrived at BPLF...Tina is sooooo nice and friendly...Can't beat the prices $3.99/lb - $9.99/lb for the largest size ! We decided to max out so we ordered 6 lobsters (3 a piece).... The lobsters are right there, alive in tanks. Tina put them in a net and dropped them into the cooker and voila ! 10 minutes later we were on our way with our lobsters, clams and lots of paper supplies so we could eat them in the hotel in Boston. Tina anticipated all of our needs,.,..everything was packed perfectly so there was no mess when we ate.... Great tip...Prepare by putting the waxed paper on the table and a napkin under your plate. Put the brown paper bag into the plastic bag. Place the plastic bag with the paper bag on the table sideways, so the opening is facing you. As you crack open your lobster, hold the lobster in the bag so the excess water drains into the bag and not all over the table....continue to open the various parts of the lobster inside the bag. What it does have can't be beat though, the freshest lobsters and clams at unbeatable prices. None of this market price BS that you get at most restaurants. You want a 1 3/4 pound lobby? 8.99 a pound you want it cooked to perfection so you can eat it now? 16 bucks, steamers on the side? They come in a 2 lbs bag also cooked perfectly for about 14 bucks. After grabbing some local corn at a farm stand on the way home, 3 adults are eating a Lobstah and Steamah dinnah for under 70 $$!!! Try paying that at one of these other places and they'd slap you in cuffs and throw you in jail. This place is a 10/10 P.S. fun lobster fact time! But know that I got an entire lobster for less than what I was charged yesterday for a small lobster roll!
