I can't say enough good things about BBQ Island. They were absolute lifesavers for me yesterday. For a little context, we've got a full outdoor kitchen at our place out here. Pizza oven, smoker, the whole setup. I had ordered a rack online so I could smoke some ribs and, like a lot of online orders these days, it turned into a headache. Delays, vague answers, the usual runaround. At that point I was already committed to the plan, so I needed a solution fast. I don't live out here full time, so I had no idea this place even existed. Found them on the fly, drove over, and within minutes it was clear I should've been going there from the start. They had exactly what I needed, no hassle, no waiting, no guessing. The guy I worked with was outstanding. Not just friendly, actually knowledgeable. Knew the equipment, asked the right questions, and made sure I was walking out with something that would work for my setup, not just whatever was sitting on the shelf. That kind of interaction is getting harder to find. The store itself is impressive too. If you're into outdoor cooking at all, it's one of those places you can wander around for a while and keep finding things you didn't know you needed. Everything from grills to accessories, and it all feels curated, not random. End of the day, they solved a problem fast, treated me like I'd been a customer for years, and saved the whole plan. A friend recommended that I had to check this place out for rubs & especially Spicy Garlic Pickles (if you can get them, before they sell out). So I headed over there and was immediately greeted by 2 nice gentleman that were friendly and professional. When I inquired about the pickles (because i overlooked them), one of the gentlemen took be back to grab one, I ended up with two. I also opted to try to Kosmos rub for chicken. This is a great place for anything BBQ related, buying rubs and the pickles are very good. I highly recommend this location, but I'm sure their other locations in the valley are equally stocked. read more

So I need to tell a little story, about a year ago I purchased a bunch of equipment from BBQ lsand in Tempe AZ. One of the items purchased was my built in Louisiana Estate 860 BI, then a cooler, storage doors and other items.  The Bad, The Lousiana Estate 860 BI gave me problems from almost the beginning, from a fault temp probe, defective digital board to another replacement temp probe and countless fires from the grill I had issues constantly. I could not tell you how many meals were ruined. Next time I need a pellet smoker I will go straight to Greem Mt. Grills.  The Good. Everyone at BBQ Island and their 3 locations. They helped me all of the way with the issues and was able to help me get a replacement grill when the grill just would not work right. Steve Averett specifically was awesome and I could not ask for more. They have a customer for life not because of the products they sell but because of the employees they have and the service they provide. They didn't stop assisting me even though they had already sold me the items.   I just thought I would share in case anyone in the Phoenix AZ market needs a grill or grill accessories in the future.   Bob, at the Peoria store thanks for the heads up on the Grillgrates they worked great last night. I stopped in to look at grills and purchase one at 4:15 pm on Saturday. I realize they close in 45 minutes. The man at the counter would not even stand up as I approached him. I told him I was interested in grills and his reply was a somewhat snotty remark. My boyfriend and I looked around. After 15 minutes of looking, a different man approached me and asked if I had any questions, which I replied "yes". I told him I was trying to decide what is the best grill for me. I found myself asking all the questions. I found the staff unhelpful so we ended up leaving. I purchased a $1000 grill the next day from a different business that was very helpful. read more

Unbelievable customer service! We own an Inn in Arnold CA and host weekend dinner events for our guests (typically BBQ) but have been talking about a Pizza Oven for awhile. After a lot of research we determined that the Alfa Allegro was the best option for us. Jay at BBQ Island was awesome - great communication and service. We ordered the pizza oven on Thursday (before the long May holiday weekend) and it was shipped the next day. This 400 lbs. item arrived here in one week. Ordered a Yeti cooler as a wedding gift. When received the couple sent me pictures and asked if I ordered a used cooler. I did not, I paid full price and ordered a new cooler. The "feet" were dirty and scratched up from use, there was not a manual inside, nor was there the food basket. What was inside was smelly water. The outside had a dent in it. When I requested a return customer service Sarah sent me a message that said it could only be new as it shipped directly from Yeti. I sent her pictures and she authorized a return and said the cooler shipped from their location but was new. How would she ever think that a new Yeti would have water in it and would be dented from use? When the cooler was received back at the vendor I did receive my refund but Sarah sent me another message saying they received a new Yeti not a used damaged one. Seems to me the owner has a problem with staff switching out used coolers for new. Why else would customer service keep trying to convince me it was a new cooler even with the pictures I had? I would not trust this store for any purchase. read more

Saturday I was in the market for a Weber Smokey Mountain so I visited BBQ Island, having never been there before. Wow...a candy store for barbecue enthusiasts--a huge selection of grills, of course, but also accessories, woods and charcoals, rubs and sauces, and big equipment--such as offset smokers on trailers. They had everything you could want. They also hold events from time to time, such as small barbecue competitions. My only complaint: I asked for the Weber and they were sold out. Once they found out that was all I wanted to quickly lost interest in talking to me. Not really unfriendly, but sending off a vibe. I'll give them a try for supplies next time and see how they are when it is not quite as busy. read more

I visited BBQ Island to view the Daniel Boone smoker they advertised for $399 and was greeted by a salesman that said " I hope that you are not looking for this smoker very soon because it is back ordered and the price has gone up to $684 because Green Mountain is phasing this grill out and replacing it with another model". Well my son and I immediately turned around, viewed a couple of high end grills for laughs and left the store. What a way to greet a potential customer. I was referred to Island BBQ by a friend whose family purchased this grill as a present for their father. Well, needless to say I'm through with this place. Some might say very good things about this business but our experience with this particular salesman was horrendous. Looking for another bbq outlet. read more

Oh BBQ Island - I seriously love you guys. Spending the day with my Big Green Egg smoker or BBQ is a day I always look forward to especially due to the help from BBQ Island. I 1st found these guys when I decided a few years ago to get a Big Green Egg. Locally they had the best price and were very friendly on the phone. After buying it they assembled and delivered to my house. I live in N. Scottsdale and still make the drive down to BBQ Island about 1x/month. Shelton and the guys there are beyond helpful and give me awesome tips to feel like a grill master. I've been to most of their events such as EggFest (for my Big Green Egg) and TurkeyFest. All their events are so much fun, learn a ton and get to try out awesome BBQ. I decided to smoke a 24 lb turkey for Thanksgiving and went down to BBQ Island for a quick visit to pick up a few smoking essentials. 1 hour later still was there talking with Shelton and some other customers. Got awesome tips for our Thanksgiving Turkey that turned out great. Thanks BBQ Island for all that you do - much appreciated! read more

Communication has been outstanding from the day I placed the online order throughout delivery of my new Hestan outdoor grill. The grill was crated very well and arrived fully assembled in excellent condition. The driver arrived on time, offloaded the grill using a pallet jack and wheeled it into my garage. My go-to when I need to pick up more supplies for my Traeger. Whether I'm just picking up pellets or miscellaneous smoking supplies they have everything I could need. Huge selection of rubs/pellets/grills. My biggest wish is that they had a larger supply of BBQ sauces. The holy grail of barbecue stores, I could spend hours in there just checking out all of the bbq goodies. Rented a professional grade smoker, "The Good One" - Marshall model for my pal's baby-que party. Loaded this thing up with 20lbs of hardwood charcoal and 12 racks of baby-back ribs, a little cherry wood to smoke, and 5-hours later we had delicious piggy perfection. Shelton and the crew were very helpful, loading this contraption into the back of our truck and giving great instruction so we had no hiccups. They even fed us some freshly roasted chicken when we were picking up the Good One. BOTTOM LINE: Worth the drive. My new BBQ heaven read more

UPDATE: I was contacted by reps from BBQ Island to resolve my issue with the spurious credit card charge. When I called they knew my situation by name and refunded the charge immediately. The rep offered sincere apologies for the mix-up. It appears the temporary help hired to work the Sportsman's expo never filed the paper invoice. So there was no record of my order outside of the remote credit card machine. I was impressed with how serious they took the problem. They asked me what they could do to make it right. I had already purchased a Yeti Cooler from another vendor months back so they graciously sent me a gift certificate. I was won over by their prompt and sincere efforts to make the situation right and believe the mistake was innocent and largerly beyond the control of the full time staff. read more

We dropped in the Peoria store to get ideas for the equipment we wanted/needed for our outdoor kitchen. We met Bob, we were very pleased with the attention he gave us. He asked a lot of questions that helped him guide us in making our choices. Bob is very knowledgeable in all of their products and cooking methods. We actually ended up staying in the store discussing our options, pricing etc after the normal store hours. I explained to Bob that we could leave and come back when we had more time. Bob would not hear of it and he stayed with us until we were satisfied with our choice. We ended up purchasing all of the equipment we needed. Then on top of all the help Bob had given us, he was able to get all of the equipment delivered to his store the very next day so we could pick it up. I am very pleased with the service and products we got from bbq islands. No pressure and a ton of knowledge. I'm not sure how there can be so many good reviews other than that they might be fake. I walked in their ready to impulse buy a $1700 smoker, and walked out 20 minutes later with nothing because of the attitude of one of the employees. I felt like a the teenager walking in to a Porsche dealership asking to test drive a 911. It was like pulling teeth just to get some info on the different brand name. Awful sales skills, it was like I was bothering the guy, and hardly anybody else was in the store, I just can't see myself buying from a guy like that. Now I'm stuck having to look elsewhere or online. Anyone know a place? read more

I bought a Daniel Boone Green Mountain Grill from these folks that was bad right out of the box. After calling both BBQ Island and Green Mountain Grills, it was determined to be bad. BBQ Island assembled a 2nd unit, and delivered it straight to my house, taking away the old one. That is some GREAT customer service! After using the grill after 2 months, I highly recommend this. Green Mountain Grills has been great to work with as well. I am certainly glad I decided to shop at BBQ Island, I doubt another company would have taken care of me 1/2 as well. Will definitely think of them for all of my BBQ needs. read more

The BBQ Island store ranks as one of my favorites and is stocked to the ceilings with every imaginable BBQ item big or small that you might need. The staff is also very knowledgeable and friendly.
