I recently bought a chain saw and after reading the guidebook, I did not feel comfortable assembling the chain and bar then attaching them to the equipment. I drove to Tempe Power Equipment thinking that I would have to leave the chain saw and come back. Within a minute or so of arriving, I was greeted and asked why I'd come in. I told him that I was a bit embarrassed, but I needed the chains aw bits put together so I could safely use it. He took the chain saw; asked for the blade and chain and began assembling it for me as we chatted. He was personable and approachable. I didn't feel 'silly' after all. Within 15 minutes, the chain was in place and I was reaching for my wallet when he said, 'no charge'. He also took the time to give me a few safety tips and where/how to put oil in the little tank and how to read the gauge. I will definitely be going back (and paying) for the chain saw's maintenance (as well as any other suitable stuff I have about the house. read more

I bought a Toro lawnmower from Lowe's with a two year warranty guaranteed to start. It is one year old. I use it about five times I put fresh gas in it and it would not start for the season. I did have gas fuel stabilizer and I've never had a problem with any of my power equipment that was gas operated. It would not start. It's got a two year warranty to start. I brought it to Tempe power equipment because they are the Toro repair center in warranty. They told me the gas went bad in the carburetor. It was a $50 charge to clean it another $130 to tune it up. It is my one year old lawnmower it's like brand new I would not recommend. Them or any warranty companies that warranty any of the power equipment from any of the Home Depot's Lowe's etc. they are a scam. I do believe I will just burn this one and buy electric but I would not ever Tempe power equipment for any Toro repair they're just going to Yankee on a fee anyway they always figure out ways to charge you. They are definitely a scam company. They do not deserve one star I should be able to get a .1 star equivalent to zero read more

I called and went in today because I'm in the market for a mower. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful, eager to please. Answered all my questions. I was shown the available mowers. Wasn't up sold (which I can't stand). Price was very competitive The mower I wanted wasn't put together but they had it assembled in less than ten minutes. While I waited, two or three other landscape customers came in. They were all greeted by name. Can't wait to use my new commercial Honda mower that started right up. I was very pleased with my experience. Looking forward to using these guys again when I am in the need. Good customer service. I would definitely recommend. read more

Great Selection, Great Service! I stopped by with some free time one afternoon and thought, it would be nice to get a new chainsaw today... J.D. Vick was my sales rep and he did a great job of answering my questions and was very polite and professional. I asked some questions and ended up getting a good deal on a new Stihl 391 chainsaw with a 28" bar and chain. The price was fair and I left super happy and ready to go cut some wood! After testing out my new saw I will have to stop by and get another saw for the ranch just like it and maybe one more smaller one for trimming too! In the midst of COVID-19 we are trying to visit / use local businesses. We rented from Tempe Power Equipment today, and was pretty disappointed. The lawn rototiller we rented (for 4 hours) barely functioned long enough to do our small yard (in just over 1 hour). It worked OK in the back yard, but the engine died 3x in the front yard. We had hoped to use the device for the length of the rental, and do my in-laws house. When we took it back to the shop, we let the guys know that it wasn't running correctly, and that we only got about 1/2 what we had hoped to accomplish done. They just sort of shrugged, and didn't offer any type of credit, or to fix the device and let us use it on the in-laws yard. Still think it's important to use local business, just not this one. Very disappointed, won't go back!! read more

Great place for repairing equipment fast! I have been using these guys for years to repair my landscaping equipment. Most people do not need repairs done as much as I do but if you are a DIY kind of person and your mower breaks down, I highly recommend these guys to get it done right and done quickly. read more

Place is tucked away and a tad hard to find. But man it is nice to have a place that sells real Honda parts and service. I have 2 Honda generators and if you keep new oil and change the air filters they will last you forever. Cost me 25 bucks for the oil and filters for both and never have to worry. Once a year you can have a full tune up if needed. Nice having stores like this instead of the big boxes! read more

I brought my lawnmower here after it up and died on me after only one season of use. Since it is still so new it is under the manufacturer's warranty, so the manufacturer (Briggs & Straton) told me that this was the nearest company to my house that does repairs under their warranty. The people working there seemed annoyed that I was even there, especially when I mentioned that it should still be under warranty. One gentleman took a quick look at it, showed me a couple of points of maintenance I should consider for it's upkeep, offered some thinly veiled belittlement for not knowing how to properly maintain a lawn mower, and said it would be over a week before they could have it ready. I don't know much about lawnmowers or how to repair them, but this shouldn't be a hard fix for them, certainly nothing that should take over a week. The whole experience was completely awkward. Their customer service was abysmal, and they showed no interest in repairing my lawnmower in a timely fashion. I will not be returning for any reason, even though it is so close to where I live. read more

Some of their recommendations actually saved me quite a bit of money as well. I have also used their service department for repairs on several occasions.
