We have waited a long time to upgrade our backyard and choosing a fire pit was the hardest part! I wanted to see it and touch it before buying it and most of the chain stores around had very limited inventory in-person. They all said to visit their websites for greater selection. Then I stumbled across locally owned Gilbert Fireplaces and BBQ's. The staff was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and the prices were right on target with the chains. Delivery and setting fees were really reasonable and able to accommodate our schedule within their operating hours. We're now happily enjoying the best season of the year in Arizona, fall-winter. We were looking for a Kamado Joe, and wanted to know the difference between the Classic I, II and III. Our local Lowe's carried the base model I, so we dropped in to Gilbert Fireplace & BBQ to see if they had any. We were happy to see that they are dealers, and have parts and accessories as well. Also, it smells awesome in there. We were greeted, and were the second couple in the store. Yet, there was no one to help us. We waited a good while and surfed the store. Good thing we did, because we found a floor model Kamado Joe II on the patio that was for sale at a good discount. It was in good shape, and had the DōJoe attached. An older gentleman greets us as we come back inside to see if anyone is around. He shows us the grills and doesn't seem to really know the difference. He explains how this floor model doesn't have the side tables, and is in the stand for the I, but the DōJoe is so great. We decide to go for it. Now, when I say discount, if you're a grill guy, you know these things aren't cheap. We still pay almost $1k. We get to the register, and the gentleman tells us that we should start with some wood. That he's throwing in a bag of charcoal and some wood. Cool, man. Except AFTER we pay, we see that we were charged for the wood. No biggie. But then he says that the DōJoe wasn't included. "Oh, did you want that?" Well, since that was our deciding factor in purchasing from you, yes. At an extra $250? Not a chance. He must feel bad, because he tosses in a small bag of wood chips on our way out the door. Now, Brian (?) was great at helping us get all loaded. We fit that puppy into the back of the Range Rover and got it home and reassembled without issue. Can't say we'll be back though. We weren't happy with the shady factor of the sale. Don't advertise and explain an item with a part, to bait and switch your customers. Bad business. Now, we've received a reply from the owner. So let me just say, the "floor model" was used, as did appear that the DōJoe was. I'm fully aware of staging new items for sale displaying the accessories and whatnot. This was a used grill with a mounted, soiled accessory. Anyway, I digress. We love the Kamado Joe II, and have used it several times now. read more

I got a detailed reply. I visited that morning, and Ryan took great care of me. He even arranged to have the smoker delivered the same day. I smoked Ribeye that evening. The quality of service? He literally said to me "I have no skin in the game why would I help you?" So the bogus excuses he lists below are exactly that, excuses. They take their time with each customer and provide options of brands of grills and options each have Today my new grill was delivered on time, and set up for me in my backyard. The installer took his time showing me all the options the grill had and showed me how to use everything. A second gentlemen from the store also came to check on the unit to ensure everything was just right. The customer sevice is great here. The team is knowledgeable and there isnt any pressure to purchase. Pass it on! Thank you for your Kindness. Today I would like to share a story with you. My husband was a master griller. The last time he used his Komado Joe Big Joe was for July 4th. Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday and he always spatchcocked and smoked a turkey in addition to having a traditional turkey. He passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2021 and I was devastated. My dearest and closest friends mutually decided they would spend Thanksgiving with me and I was determined to serve his favorite Thanksgiving meal including the smoked turkey (I never ever used the grill). I went to Gilbert Fireplace & BBQ's (www.gilbertfireplacesbbqs.com) the BBQ store that he bought all his grills from and told them my situation. Both the owner and his son Ryan remembered my husband and Ryan volunteered to come to my house on Wednesday (the day before Thanksgiving) to set the grill up for me. He was totally amazing. He set it up. He brought charcoal and wood and showed me what needed to be done. He also said to call him if I had any problems. I did text him with a couple of questions and he always responded. The turkey came out almost as good as my husband's and it was juicy and smoked to perfection. I cannot thank Ryan enough for the thoughtfulness and compassion he showed me. If anyone is in need of a BBQ or anything associated with BBQ's I highly recommend this store. The products are the best and you could not ask for better and kinder people to deal with. With the season changing I tried to start up our gas fireplace and was struggling to get it let. We bought our house late last year and this is the 1st fresh season that we really got to test out the fireplace so I wasn't 100% sure how to work it. I was struggling and ready to hire a repair/service person to come out and fix it and decided to call the people that know their trade best. We were first time customers to Gilbert Fireplace & BBQ. We had the opportunity to deal with Mike Barnhart, the owner. It was time to upgrade our firepit. Mike is excellent to deal with. We purchased a new fire ring and 100lbs of fireglass. There was no hardsell or upsell pressure from him. He showed us a variety of different colors of fireglass and of course at different prices. We never felt he was trying to sell us anything more than what we wanted. He explained different pro's and con's of different colored glass and different fire rings. I was also having a minor issue with my current BBQ that came with our home. I explained this issue to Mike and he told me what to do to fix my problem. When our BBQ needs replaced there is no question where we will buy. Gilbert Fireplace & BBQ has earned our business.
