Very different ambiance than other bbq chicken locations, this one reminded me of a a pub where beer and fried chicken flow freely as friends carousing together.
The four of us came into the space around 7 pm, and it hadn't gotten totally busy yet. We were seated in a booth for 4, and started with a pitcher of Sapparo (60oz for $23)...rice lager always seems to be a good choice with sticky fried chicken. They give you very small beer glasses, so plenty of oportunity to interact by filling each other's glasses.
We ordered too much food:
- fries with dip ($8). It's batter dipped, and it's a large amount. This wasn't necessary since the chicken came with fries as well
- pulled chicken poutine ($15). didn't really need this either. It has decent shredded chicken on top, but barely any cheese curds, which is the whole point.
- steamed rice ($3.50) - I like rice with my KFC.
- Cheesling Half Chicken ($20) - first tried this in Korea, and have always seeked it out ever since. It is a dry powder, and not sure why it works, but it does.
- Soy Garlic Half ($20) - the classic flavor, sticky and good.
- Boneless Honey Garlic ($20) - usually not a fan of boneless (since it's more like a chicken nugget), but bbq's version does mix dark whole chunks, and is a bit less messy since you don't have to worry about removing the bone with your finger.
Everything was good, and since we really didn't really need much servicing once we got our food, there wasn't any sort of wait at anytime. We paid at the table, including tip. read more
