If you're looking for barbecue that's worth the trip, BBQ 56 is it! I ordered the rib dinner with the cracked black pepper fries. It came with thinly sliced pickles and Texas toast, and every single bite was delicious. The ribs were so tender they literally fell off the bone. The cracked black pepper fries were seasoned perfectly, and the homemade honey mustard deserves its own review. If you thought McDonald's honey mustard was good when you were a kid, forget about it. This honey mustard is made with love and packed with flavor. I also tried the Strawberry Mango Icy. If you like sweeter drinks, you'll enjoy it. Here's my recommendation. Drink about a quarter of it first, then add a shot of gold tequila. Don't stir it. Just drink it exactly like that. It was the perfect combination. A special shoutout to our waitress and bartender, Tay. She welcomed us in like we were regulars. She was friendly, personable, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Great customer service is hard to find, and Tay absolutely delivered. I also have to mention the atmosphere. This is exactly what a neighborhood barbecue spot should feel like. Great music, great people, amazing food, and an ambiance that makes you want to sit back, order another drink, and stay a little longer. BBQ 56 has earned a loyal customer. Good lord, there are no words. I sit here grinning ear to ear that we stopped in. Servers were so warm and personable and the ambiance was laid back and inviting. When the food arrived, it was every bit as good as it smelled. The brisket was tender with the perfect amount of fat marbled in it. It absolutely fell apart without a knife. The Mac and cheese was hella good, as was the fried okra, and the collards. I stole some of my husband's beef tips and jalapeño beef sausage. All terrific! The key lime cake is damn tasty too. We decided to give this place a try because it was less than 3 miles from our air bnb and it had great reviews. There is no private lot but plenty of street parking. The reviews were right. It is so worth the drive for good bbq. The food was so good. I especially liked the smoked wings and mac and cheese. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable when we were indecisive about what we wanted. This is a SPECIAL spot! 1000% worth a drive-- even if out of your way, for some of the BEST BBQ in town. This is a fabulous local-family-run spot! The portions and prices are SO generous!!! Hello friends! The wife and I stopped in here on 12/11/25 for an early dinner. Place is cool, music is a little loud though. We got the 3 meat plate with smoked chicken, smoked wings and ribs. The smoked chicken was dry but had a good flavor. Ribs were tasty and smoked well. Mac and cheese was ok not good but not bad either. Baked beans were ok. They were out of brisket at 5:30 pm. Lovely spot! A friend took me here as he has known the proprietor, Ron, for many years and I was seriously excited to check it out. It def lived up to my expectations-in fact it exceeded them. Amazing vibes, food, music, people, service. I had the 1/2 chicken and he had the ribs. Both were delicious! You have the option of 2 sauces, a golden and one that is more traditional but my friend suggested I mix the two and he did not lead me astray. My brother got a 3 piece wings with a potato salad and a beef rib. I got a brisket jalapeno sausage and a beef rib. The sausage is delicious just a little spicy with the jalapeno it really creeps up on you I was given a slice of bread and some pickles. Me and my brother ate that in the car. I got to taste one of his wings it was good. We were given the mustard sauce and the other sauce. The beef rib is delicious juicy. Went here for lunch its walkable distance from my friend's house. The vibe was nice great music playlist decent crowd for the time of day. We all got the drink special very good. I visited BBQ 56 with a large group of friends last night, and we got there late in the evening. The server who handled our table was on it, though. She got us seated and took care of us professionally, methodically, and cordially despite the hubbub we brought to the space. The food I had was fantastic. The baked beans w/beef and the collard greens were perfect; I also sampled some of the pulled pork drizzled with the house bbq sauce: fantastic. The decor of the place is modern and comfortable, and there is street parking in the vicinity (though that might be a challenge during busier times in this artsy-ish area). This was a great experiment for a Sunday considering a good BBQ place is hard to come by so close to the city. This is not an overpriced chain - just great quality food, awesome customer service, and reasonable price points. I ran into a minor challenge with my rib tips; however, it was resolved immediately by the GM Blake with a smile. The barbecue is really good. The brisket is phenomenal. The catfish is confusing because sometimes it's big squares of catfish and sometimes it's smaller. but I'm here to talk about the brunch. Best Black Owned BBQ in the city. THIS is real BBQ. They smoke their meats in a huge smoker. The food has a nice flavor and it is fresh. They beef ribs were amazing. Brisket was tender and flavorful. Sides were a hit as well. Saturday afternoon service was great. Greeted and seated promptly. This place has a motorcycle theme since the owner rides motorcycles. There is a full bar, music and TV'S for your enjoyment. The owner grew up in the neighborhood. They father, son and daughter were all friendly and were very appreciative of the customers and feedback. Street parking is a little tricky. Just park on the side street and walk down.
