The bbq meat spud doesn't list bbq sauce as an ingredient but comes soaked in it. I thought the meat would be served like the sandwiches where you can apply your own sauce, or none if you don't like bbq sauce, but the meat was chopped and mixed in with a heavy handed amount of sauce so you could not avoid it. Once I removed all the bbq sauce it took every single topping with it so I was left with a $14 plain potato. The mac n cheese was really good. Had the opportunity to stop at BBQ 152 for lunch when visiting family in CA. They had ample options, and everything we tried was delicious- we got Mac cheese, Cole slaw, garlic bread, tri-tip, pulled pork, and their brisket. Brisket was my personal favorite! They have a little outdoor area to stand in line and order, and from there they bring you your food. It's always a safe bet when a great food spot doesn't change to much and especially their flavors. Tried bbq152 in 2022 and in 2023 and just recently in 2024 and each time it was fantastic. They ran out of burnt ends again errrrrrre so mad I still can't get any. The brisket was tender seasoned out this world if I ate it everyday I'd say it was a little salty but hey treat yourself sometimes. The chicken was good the skin omg Soo good. Our second visit to this location. Bring on some Q! We must not be ordering correctly. This was our second visit to this location. We really like the way that their patio is laid out. We arrived early, there was only one picnic table in use outside. I never went inside. Customer service was excellent. There was a minor issue with my "Toast Points" in that my credits didn't automatically display. The cashier asked if I wanted to reverse the transaction so I could use my points, but I told him that I would save them until our next visit. We ordered a Three-Way Combo with "JUICY" Brisket, Hot Link, Pork Ribs with Cole Slaw and Baked Beans as our sides. Our meal also came with some Pickled Veg and a slice of Garlic Toast. The Hot Link was, like last time, terrific. The Pork Ribs did not have the Rib Tips attached like our past visit. They were tender but not quite fall off the bone. The "JUICY" Brisket was NOT JUICY at all. As the cashier walked past us after delivering an order to another table, he asked how we were doing and I showed him our Brisket and told him that it was in no way JUICY. He apologized and told us that we would go to the kitchen and find some more to our liking. What he brought out was twice as much as our first batch and it was moister, but it was NOT JUICY. Even the BBQ Sauce on the side didn't bring it to life. There simply wasn't enough fat on the Brisket. The Garlic Bread was good. The Cole Slaw wasn't cold enough for me. The Baked Beans were some of the best that I've had with BBQ because they were hot and not sickly sweet. We noticed a San Jose Police Officer picking up at least three trays of food and two Gilroy Fire Battalion Chiefs enjoying their lunches while we were there. (Trust me - most Emergency Service Personnel know how to eat!) Had a long day out and my bf was craving bbq so we came out here and decided to try the 3 meat combo to share. We got Tri tip, brisket, and ribs with Mac n cheese and potato salad. The meats were really good and soft. I don't know my meats well but one of them had a couple pieces that were super salty, but otherwise, it was really good. We didn't care too much for the sides. The Mac n cheese was good but it wasn't really the typical Mac you would get at a bbq spot. We also added an extra cornbread so we could each have one and it comes with butter and honey, which I've never used on cornbread before. It honestly wasn't that great, it was a little dry and not sweet even with the honey. They also can sell out of their meats for the day. Overall good meal and friendly service. Both my husband and I had the tri-tip sandwich, and shared a couple sides. everything was great and absolutely full of flavor. The tri-tip was cooked to perfection! Eric...what changed? I get feeding the masses at multiple locations is difficult and few will ever be happy. But why change what worked in the first place. I've frequented BBQ 152 (Gilroy) and Trail Dust (Morgan Hill). Both are were a staple for good tasting BBQ food. No I don't have pictures when pictures are not needed when a good amount of people are asking a simple question - what changed and why? The portions of everything got much smaller. The flavor of smoked BBQ just is not as pronounced as it used to be and the smoke ring is thin. The BBQ beans were flavorless and under cooked as was the garlic bread. Ribs kind dry and some ok, got sauce to cover up the meat. Potato salad tasted ok, Cole slaw was ok too. Cornbread pretty dry, butter helped. Hubby got brisket combo meal Reg $17.75, meat ok to dry, beans meh, Mac & cheese he really liked, I thought not cheesy at all. It's pretty popular place for locals I guess. A bit in the dry side. Cornbread is moist. Comes with butter and honey. Garlic bread is chewy and good. The BBQ sauces come in mild and spicy. I liked both a lot but the spicy has a nice kick. Well balanced in flavor. Great selection of Beers on tap. I reheated my food the next day and it was very delicious! The potato salad seemed to have changed and tasted so much better. First served, it was not very cold and I could not taste seasonings. The next day, coming out of the fridge really cold, it's more smokey and really unique and delicious. I think it needed an overnight chill to bring out the flavors. Order outside and eat inside or outside. Con: The amount of flies inside the restaurant. They were 4-5 big ones constantly buzzing and trying to land on our food while we were sitting right in front of it waving them away. It was very gross and hard to enjoy the experience. So we took it home. I understand they must have come from the outside area but there was way too many to avoid and maybe a fly trap is needed. Chose Bbq 152 to get the food for a birthday party. Used their online ordering system which was super simple and got a confirmation and response right away. Also was able to add on to my order with no problems. The day of party food was ready when I arrived for scheduled pickup and was all packaged very well. Also provided us with plenty of plates, utensils, bbq sauce etc. Everyone loved the food. We had brisket, chicken and pulled pork with side of Mac and cheese, potato salad and beans.
