Cool little BBQ joint, good food and a cool groove. I was in the area recently and looking for some lunch. When I came across BBQ152. Theres some really good Q to be had here. Walk up counter service with the menu boards overhead. After perusing the board a minute I decided on a two meats plate. I paid and grabbed a spot. It wasnt long and my food was brought to me. Brisket and Pulled Pork plate with cornbread, beans, slaw and sides. The brisket and pork were both fork tender and full flavored. Great charring on the brisket and the pulled pork both. The beans were pretty good, and the slaw was good but nothing special. The standout was the cornbread, truly very good. Wow, what a dinner, outstanding BBQ, didn't even need extra sauce. Tri tip? Incredible, moist, full of flavor. Pulled pork? Heavenly, melts in your mouth. Sides weren't half thought out either, they were full of flavor, not too dry, not soggy, perfect consistency. We stopped by at 7:00pm on a Saturday night and had a rack of ribs, tri tip and 2 sides. We're pretty picky when it comes to bbq as we're big home smokers and have traveled across the country and eaten in some amazing places for lip smacking bbq. The ribs and tri tip lacked any smoked flavors but the bbq sauce was pretty good. The coleslaw and potatoe salad was good as well. The servers seemed to have a bit of an attitude (maybe we caught them on an off day). They called our name but didn't bring the food to the table; but they did for a family next to us. We stopped here for lunch on the way to the Outlets and Monterey. What a great find! We ordered the half BBQ chicken and the Berry Bleu salad to share because we didn't want to be too full for our drive. You order at the counter, find a picnic bench and the staff brings you your food. It's such a cool location with the outdoor seating. It was cool outside but the very sunny so it was really refreshing to sit outside. We got our food in no time and was happy with how everything was delicious...the chicken was cooked well and the salad was sooo good love the apple slices and bleu cheese...yum!! Stopped by here for lunch on a Saturday early afternoon. Small (family?) run business with lots of indoor / outdoor seating. Hubby and I shared the large brisket meal and it was perfect for the two of us since it comes with 2 sides. The brisket was delicious, well cooked and seasoned. I didn't care much for the mac & cheese - one of the cheeses was a bit too pungent for me to go with brisket. Meh on the potato salad as well because I'm picky about amount of mayo and I like a lot more pickles in mine. But this is very much my personal preference. I'm not a BBQ expert, but this place serves up some great food, arguably the best selection of beers in town, and has ample indoor and outdoor seating. I ate here most recently and ordered food to-go, the family and I loved it. The BBQ Chicken sandwich was absolutely incredible and lasted my wife and I for 2 meals each!! We had this brought in for a large event. I tried the tri-tip, (huge) baked potato, beans, and salad with the raspberry vinaigrette. It was pretty good! The salad was great considering it was from a BBQ place. The spicy sauce was SPICY! This place is amazing! Best BBQ I have ever had and they even sell the burnt ends. So good, must try. They also have a super wide variety of specialty beers. Super friendly staff. Shout out to Danny M. who helped me out. He was very knowledgeable. I told him flavor of beer I like and I was brought out, what is now, my new favorite beer- it was an Amber ale. The set up is a bit odd, due to two separated restaurant areas in which some tap beer is in one area and the others are in another area, but the vibe is very family friendly and the smell of BBQ is in the air. Now the cornbread, hmm kinda oily and flat. Brisket... amazing texture and if you can find meat amongst the fat, delicious! Unfortunately I gave most to the dogs cause it was pure fat. Im sure the fat tastes as good as the meat but who wants to eat blubber in lumps and chunks ? I think for the price and what you get, it is not a good place to eat. Im actually really grossed out now . For the money, can you make sure your meat cuts have a balance of meat and fat? And for the sides... do better . Pulled Pork was awesome(4.5/5)... as you can tell by the photo, I didn't even take time to review before I finished it. Smoky flavor, and the little malt vinegar sauce they gave was Mac N Cheese was eh(2.5/5)... the lady said that and the beans(3/5) were their best sellers, but I wasn't too impressed with either. Found this bbq spot on my way to the Gilroy Outlets and for the most part, it did not disappoint. There's a nice selection of beers that they offer, mostly from the brand: Alvarado Street Brewery. Service here is also great - everyone is friendly and the ambiance is a very homey feel. The brisket wasn't too fatty and the tri-tip was cooked perfectly. While they offer 2 bbq sauces, the flavor for both the regular and spicy are great. You definitely need to clean up after yourself -- but not to worry, there's a "dish pit" both in inside seating, along with outside seating. For myself, the sides were the parts that didn't hit the spot for me. The bread was quite dry, and I was told the cornbread was okay. The Mac N Cheese wasn't super cheesy; it tasted a little too salty for my liking, and was more chunky than cheesy. The Potato Salad, I honestly was not a fan of and could only muster 2 spoonfuls. It tasted a bit sour and more like relish. Overall, I'd recommend the meats, which you can buy without sides. read more

Looking for a change of foods when shopping in Gilroy and my hubby found this gem. The foods are delicious, he ordered the combo - brisket and pork ribs while I order the tri tip with sides of Mac and cheese, potato salad and beans plus corn bread. The only thing about the meal is that the corn bread is not that moist so it's a little hard. Service is great. I like the place, they have tables outside if you want to dine in the sun (some have shades. But there's also and indoor dining for those that wants that. Price is reasonable. All I can say is that this place is mediocre like a chain restaurant. The meat didn't taste flavorful or juicy. More like over cooked and heated up to order. Had to use sauce for every bite to give it moisture and swallow. The corn bread wasn't house made more like box made. The potato salad was lacking in flavor and savory factor.
