Spicy Beef Noodle (Bún Bò Huế)
Lana P.

Food : I ordered the BBH $18, the bowl was a generous serving size and came with a variety of meats. BBH is my FAVORITE Vietnamese dish, so I have high expectations. The broth was not as flavorful as I like it, but still good. The springrolls were $12.50 for four which is cheaper than many places. It is hard to mess those up...10/10 from me Service : The owner, an older vietnamese lady, was super sweet and checked in to make sure our food was good. Tables : There are a variety of tables, we were the only ones there, so service was fast. It seemed clean.

Grilled Shrimp Vermicelli

Typical Vietnamese cuisine. I usually order to-go. They have your standard rice plates with grilled meat or seafood. They offer egg rolls, spring rolls, and pho of course. Their grilled items are flavorful. I enjoyed my vermicelli with grilled shrimp. Simple interior. Located in a plaza with other businesses and restaurants. Parking lot is available.

I stumbled across this spot on Yelp, and let me just say I wish I hadn't. This is by far the worst place and should be avoided. We walked in, and there were only two other people eating. There were no workers in sight, so we seated ourselves. After about 5-7 minutes, still no one came, and at this point, we were about to leave, which I wish we had. But a young girl probably the daughter of the owner eventually came out to help and seemed annoyed when she handed us the menu. As a Vietnamese person, I was looking forward to the bun bo hue until it arrived, looking sad with not even a hint of the bbh color, and it tasted horrible. The bun rieu looked decent but also tasted terrible. The pho was probably the only decent dish, but it wasn't good. This was the worst experience we've had, and I felt like we got robbed paying to eat (taste since we didn't even touch our bowls) garbage food. It's a disgrace to Vietnamese cuisine. A total of $67 wasted on bad food, bad service, and definitely no ambiance at that place! Just to add, typically for bad food and service I still leave a tip but they got the $67 that they didn't deserve! Harsh to say that but it's the truth.

Thursday special's com ga hai nam for $10 It's pretty good. Recommend not to dine on Thursday place packed because of the special. Recommend order to go aviod 11:30am to 1:30pm pick up. Lazy to cook buy try it out. To me it's pretty good. Parking is good.

I tried BBH Noodle awhile ago and thought it was pretty pricey for Pho. Good, but pricey. Nowadays, that's the standard pricing at other restaurants. Today, I revisited them while waiting for my mom's takeout from next door to be ready. The service was bad. I walked in and a lone lady was sitting at the back table talking on the phone. After seating myself done and waited a few minutes with nobody to greet me or bring me a menu. I proceeded to go to the kitchen to see if somebody would help me. As I saw somebody, she spoke in Vietnamese, and a man came out to help me but was surprised that he had to come out as he saw the woman just sitting there. I understand not to expect good service at these types of restaurants, but at least seat your customers and give them a menu and water. I only got the water after she somewhat took my order. Bun Bo Hue (Spicy): Beef and pork slices, ham, tendon, pork blood (4/5). I was surprised that they did not include the usual shrimp paste and chili oil. But, for me it was already a good heat level for me. Best of luck to them.

Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Beef Noodle Soup)

We were in the area and were thinking about revisiting a noodle place in Milpitas we had tried years ago, but couldn't remember the name nor the location so we saw this little as we drove by and decided to give it a try. We got there around 2pm on Saturday and it was pretty empty. We ordered Bun Bo Hue and an appetizer. We couldn't decide if we want Goi Cuon or the papaya salad so we asked the server (I think he is the owner?) which one was better. One would expect he would suggest the more expensive salad but he actual recommended the cheaper rolls. Extra point there! Happy to see they offer Bun Bo Hue as we love the spicy noodles. We have tried many bun no hue places in the Bay Area, including the famous Bun Bo Hue A nam in San Jose. Some places tend to make it too sweet. The Bun Bo Hue here was HUGE and flavorful. It was spicy but we like it hot so we fully used the toasted pepper chili sauce on the table. The lemongrass flavor was intense and we love it. The Goi Cuon was the biggest I have seen. They are very thoughtful that they didn't put the crushed peanuts in the dipping sauce like other places, but offer it on the side... for people with allergies I think-very considerate . There wasn't anything to write home about regarding the taste of the rolls. They were fresh and crunchy as expected for goi Cuon. Part of the skin was a little hard but overall they were good for the price. The place was clean and tables arranged neatly. The service was good and the boss (I think) was very friendly. The menu offerings were limited but I don't mind. Overall it was a 3.65 star experience (so round it up to 4). I wouldn't mind coming back if I am in the area...

7. Pho (Combination beef noodle)
Gene D.

Another week, another time to try a pho place. I appeared at what seemed to be a small family hosted joint? I ordered a usual beef pho, and taste wise it's okay, I just have some issues. Some of the beef is rubbery to the point where it's not possible to chew it. The service needs some work, even with a handful of people, a lot of other customers were waiting longer than expected. You don't need to come here, you aren't missing anything

Spicy Beef Noodle (Bún Bò Huế)

Friendly staff. Family owned. The bun bo hue is definitely proper. Nice chili oil (sate) accompanying the bun bo hue. Plenty of side herbs which is a plus. The portion is also huge for $18.5. If you want to satisfy your spicy noodle soup need you gotta come here

Hu Tieu Nam Vang (side of soup not pictured)
Jessica N.

This is a solid Vietnamese restaurant in Milpitas if you're craving Bun Bo Hue or Hu Tieu Nam Vang. The portions and quality is very good. They have a variety of other dishes too like pho and rice plates, but I haven't tried it personally. Food comes out quickly. Would recommend.

So For all the noodle dishes you can choose any type you want and they have like 8 different types! Most places specialize in one and generally you can only choose 2-3 types so this is above and beyond normal. They are also pretty generous with the proteins... Most Chinese noodle houses don't have enough portion of meat in their noodles even the ones that are supposed to have meat so I do appreciate that. Tomato beef noodle soup- OMG that broth was so tasty I was just drinking it straight up. The braised beef delicious and generally fairly tender. I took my leftover broth to go and made my own noodles for it the next day. Spicy Crawfish noodles- Got these with thin flat noodles. Sauce was delicious. Generous amounts of crawfish. Really enjoyed the sauce n flavors. Chinese pork hamburger- this was so . I highly recommend. Nice flaky texture on the outside. It's got these green peppers in it kinda like jalapenos which usually isn't the norm but it was so good. Beef onion pie- par for the course. Not bad but nothing special! If you're craving, it's still good Overall, this spot has def exceeded my expectations as a Chinese noodle house.

This is one of the restaurants where you order and pay for everything on your phone. Food started arriving only 10 minutes after ordering which was great! First they brought out our cold dish, Spicy Pig Ears. Thick slices of pic ears with lots of raw onions and chili oil. Very heavy on the oil but the pig ears were cooked perfectly. Usually I prefer when pig ears are sliced very thin, but I actually really enjoyed this thickness. Next, our Vegetable Chow Mein with Wide Flat Noodles and the String Beans with Eggplant arrive. Both dishes were piping hot and the noodles were impressively long. Easily the longest and widest handmade noodles I've ever had. The sauce on the chow mein was very light and honestly needed a more flavorful sauce but I couldn't complain because of how intrigued I was with just the noodles. The eggplant and string beans were super flavorful and still had a bite to them. We also ordered the Dry Spicy Beef Noodle. This was honestly very disappointing. It was quite bland and pretty much just oil. The green onion pancakes also came out with this noodle dish. Not exciting but also not bad. They were also a bit too greasy for me. We asked for hot tea to have with our meal to continue to be able to eat it. I did really appreciate that they had very spacious booths. And there was plenty of room between each of the tables so you aren't hitting elbows with other tables. The wall decor was gorgeous by our booth. Each booth had a unique wooden wall which distracted me for a bit when we sat down.

It looks like they specialize in Rice Noodles, so definitely give those a try! Let me just say everything that you order here comes out steaming hot so it's not your usual cart dim sum style. This was something that I tried for the first time and really appreciated! Some of the things I tried: Steamed pork and taro chunks 4/5 The steamed pork was so juicy and flavorful. They also throw in some taro chunks which I don't typically see, but it was delicious. A classic dish that's definitely worth trying. Thousand year old egg congee 4/5 The congee here comes in a GIGANTIC bowl. This is definitely something to order if going in a party of 3-4. The congee has such a home feel to it and it reminded me a lot of my grandma's congee. This was delicious. The only thing I would ask for is, I wish they had black pepper here, because that would make this dish pop out so much more Egg Rice Noodle 3/5 I saw this and it looked interesting, but it wasn't anything I found special. It was good, but not sure if I would get this again. If you're a huge fan of eggs maybe this dish is for you! Shrimp and chives Rice Noodle 5/5 This was really good, and I would order this again. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and everything was so flavorful with that oyster sauce poured over the rice noodles. I enjoyed this dish a lot, and a perfect order if you're going in a party of 3. Shrimp and chives dumpling 5/5 This is pretty similar to the rice noodle dish. One thing that I have to note is the dumpling was very soft. I preferred this a lot, since my experience with this dish is many dim sum places tend to make the skin of this dumpling really hard. This made it more enjoyable to eat. Siu Mai (Ground Pork and shrimp dumpling) 5/5 This is probably my favorite dim sum order and they nailed this one! When you take a bite into that dumpling, it is so juicy. It carries an amazing scent when you take a bite into it and I didn't really ever notice this with other Siu Mai order's. A classic order, definitely would order this one again. Service 5/5 There service here is exceptional and staff is amazing. Extremely helpful, they brought out some chili oil for us since it wasn't on the table. Food came out exceptionally quick. Everything was awesome! One thing to note, this place is pretty small so you will have to wait outside if you are on the waitlist. Check this place out, definitely a top tier dim sum place if you are looking for quality and price. Everything is very cheap and they also offer affordable rice plates (around $12-13) if you were looking for a quick meal togo!

The food was okay, but the service was basically a DIY project. When the check came and I left a zero on the tip line, the woman handing it to me pointed it out and asked why I hadn't tipped. Luckily, she opened that door, so I had the chance to explain why the complete lack of service earned that zero: * We seated ourselves after someone shouted "your table is ready" from all the way across the dining room. * No one greeted us, checked on us, or ever claimed to be our server. * We placed the entire order ourselves through our phones. * Our water pitcher emptied after our first pour and sat there completely forgotten for the rest of the meal. * Staff repeatedly kicked and bumped the backs of our chairs every time they walked by. * An employee forgot to lock the bathroom door, and when my husband and son walked in, she actually scowled at my kid while washing her hands instead of apologizing for not locking it. If I'm seating my own family, handling our own ordering on a phone, and tracking down my own water, asking for a tip at the end is a pretty bold move. We won't be returning.

We got excited when we searched for dipping ramen and this place came up. We visited Japan last year and had some of the best tsukemen of our lives there, so we were hoping for something similar. It wasn't quite there, but that's fair since Japan is Japan. We both ordered the Spicy Tsukemen ($22). The noodles were thick and chewy, but the dipping broth was a little too salty for my taste. It came with two different kinds of pork. One was a thinner roasted chashu and the other was a thick, pink, sous-vide-style slice. I would have preferred two slices of the regular chashu, since the thick one wasn't really my thing. The egg and nori were fine. Overall it was okay. We're probably just very picky about ramen and tsukemen after Japan, so if you haven't had it there, you might enjoy this more than we did. They did offer soup wari (dashi added to your leftover broth) at the end, which was a nice touch, though we passed on it this time.
