The zaatar menakish pie was good, but the zaatar spices could be more pronounced. The spinach pie also well balanced and seasoned well. The kebab platter small portion compared to other local Mediterranean restaurant platter. The falafel platter was a good sized portion. The side vegetables could be larger in portion size. The rice was well seasoned. The Greek salad was well seasoned, but could also be more generous in size since it was a dinner item and not a side. Overall good quality food and good service. I swung by as a result of my hairstylist's recommendation on vegetarian options in the area. They definitely had vegetarian options, so I ordered the falafels, moussaka, tabbouleh, yogurt, and baklava. The place was pretty empty for it being nearly lunch time (11:30am). The cashier was polite and helpful. Each item was about $7-8, which is a bit steep for the portion sizes, but the quality of the falafel and moussaka were very good. The yogurt was fine too, but it was yogurt, so not too hard to mess up there. The tabbouleh salad was mostly just parsley, and I was a bit bummed because I usually make mine with some form of wheat. The ingredients said it was in there, but I couldn't find it. It was fresh and I used it more as a garnish. The falafels came with pita bread, so I used those to make falafel and moussaka pitas. It was wonderful, so I definitely do recommend this! Unfortunately, the reason for the demarcation on stars is because it seems a bit overpriced to me for what it is (EACH item was $7-8, so you know I spent about $40 for lunch for one--crazy), and lastly, I removed a star because the baklava was horrible. It tasted old, not fresh, and was $7 for three small squares. I realize baklava is very expensive and rich to make; however, when it's old and not fresh, it's not even worth $1. I would never recommend buying the baklava here. I would definitely recommend coming here if you have some extra money and would like to eat a very fresh and yummy lunch -- just skip dessert. read more

The falafel was crunch and moist and the fatoosh salad is something we are going to try and steal the recipe because it was so good. I came here after rafting with my family nearby and saw the amazing reviews. The servers were super friendly, telling us about their trip across the world and why they love traveling as well as the inspiration for their food. The restaurant was clean but also empty on a weekend lunch which was a bit odd. They were very generous with their pita since their hummus and pita combo was perfect. However, I did wish the entrees were a bit larger. The price for the food quantity was a tad high in my opinion. The quality of the good was quite good, the meat was tender and sides were solid. The rice was by far my favorite part. The vermicelli is the ideal companion to the rice and was the star of the show. The food is good here, just don't expect a massive plate of food! Beef shawarma platter, Lebanese Wings and the baba ganouj are my favorites. I see that the reviews for this restaurant are all very good so I'm a little puzzled. Maybe we just didn't order the right things. We went for a light lunch and only got a few vegetarian items but they were not recognizable as the classic items their name represents. The lentil soup was seasoned differently but that isn't the problem. It was almost a consommé in consistency without a visible lentil or anything in it. The spinach pie appetizer was three small rolls with a little spinach paste inside. Atmosphere-wise, they have table service but it resembles a counter service type of place. Went to this Lebanese restaurant for a party of 14 people. It's definitely not set up for large parties but they tried their best! Overall it was nice cozy restaurant in a small strip mall in shrewsbury. Now onto the food it was overall pretty good. We ordered several appetizers family style like hummus, eggplant salad, and roasted red pepper dip which were all very good they are all served with bowls of pitas. Some hot appetizers that we enjoyed were fried kibbeh which was a beef meatball that had an interesting flavor. Something's we ordered that I didn't enjoy were spinach pie, and tabouli salad it was overly acidic. For entrees everyone ordered their own most ppl went for shawarma and rice it's not the best I ever ate, it was not hot and the rice was over cooked and sticky. Dessert we ordered baklava and it was also average. Service was good! They tired their best to serve our big party. The restaurant is very small and not equipped for large parties. I heard great things about this place so one evening after car shopping we needed something fresh and good. We popped into Bayroot and was so pleased. The menu has many offerings and the prices are very reasonable. The food is made fresh and you can taste it. We got their hummus and it was way beyond standard hummus. It was really flavorful and they even brought out more pita for us to finish the plate. We also ordered their Bayroot salad which is the perfect summer starter. It's cold and crunchy and has light flavor. We added their wings which were quite delicious and a chicken shawarma platter. This was incredibly flavorful and different. Gets better every time you go. I have been here multiple times (probably verging on 10) starting from around the first week they were open to this week, and it started delicious and swear its even more delicious now. Be sure to get a bunch of the appetizers, thats my favorite way to go here! For my fiancé and I, we've gotten the hummus, tabbouleh, kibbeh and falafels ($30) and thats all we need! Fresh made hummus with amazing olive oil on top, FRESH FRESH falafel (super soft inside and great crunch outside and green from parsley) and kibbeh, usually too hot when first served from the fryer, and super fresh tabbouleh.
