Found this hole in the wall restaurant that's ran by a small family. Absolutely beautiful outside seating shaded by a large tree. The staff were super friendly and the food was amazing. The blackened catfish etoufee was one of the best dishes I've had in Florida.

Crawfish étouffée & Mac salad. Soooo good!

Dunedin, Fl! Such a fun and delicious lunch at Happy's Bayou Bites We had Shrimp Poboy, Crawfish étouffée, fried oysters with hush puppies & macaroni salad, in a beautiful outdoor setting! Everything was absolutely delicious! I love finding the hidden gems of an area. If you've never been here, I highly recommend it!

Beans and rice were flavorless, my husband and I both were surprised. Gumbo was good.

Gator sausage bites? Gator tail bites? Yes to both, and both were 10/10!!! We were lucky enough to meet the owner and found this place by chance via Yelp search. If you are near Dunedin or Clearwater, add this as a must-do to try your first, fifth or 100th Gator dish! And, don't forget to grab a Hurricane as well. We will be visiting here again from California!

What a fantastic business. The owners as well as the employees are wonderful. Everyone seems to have a great outlook and really enjoys their work. The food is outstanding. They exclusively specialize in Cajun, low country, FL cracker recipes. In my typical fashion, I had to order several things on the menu. Each thing I ate was delicious. We had the crawfish Etouffee, chicken and sausage Gumbo, boudin balls and red beans & rice. The boudin balls were among the best I've had. I would prefer that the gumbo be a little thicker but the flavor was great. They offer a nice selection of craft beers and a few flavored seltzers. Please note that seating is limited and is only outside. The back country set-up is awesome. I can't wait to come back and try a few other options on the menu.

Blackened shrimp poboy and red beans and rice

Happy's Bayou Bites in Dunedin, FL is a taste of New Orleans right in Florida. As a daughter of a New Orleans native, I can say their blackened shrimp poboy and red beans and rice were phenomenal - authentically seasoned and bursting with flavor. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is laid back, and the prices are reasonable. It's the perfect spot for a taste of NOLA without breaking the bank. I'll definitely be back for more!

Omg, this place is the cutest! I could sit here all day. Felt like a complete getaway. The menu was short and sweet but I still had a hard time choosing. I could have sampled everything and after trying this first dish, I will! Ordered the Meatloaf blackened over rice with gravy on top and a side of the tomato cucumber salad. It was so delicious. The salad was so crisp and clean. Whatever herbs they put it it made everything taste so fresh. The meatloaf was better than any meatloaf I've ever had. Getting it blacked gave it a nice crispy crust but it was so moist and full of flavor. I am excited to visit again soon.

Good blues, good people, good food, and Abita!

Great food, great service, great music. Ignore the construction. Worth the effort. Bontemps!

The best poboy I have ever had, get the blackened chicken - amazing macaroni salad and service as well! Very chill environment and great prices

Update. Went back this week for Crawfish Etouffee, with my wife. YUM! Delicious! Lots of yummy tails and a bit spicy. My taste runs a bit more heat so a good shot of Tabasco made it perfect. My wife had the Shrimp PoBoy and loved it. Kept stating how soft and yummy the bread was, and the shrimp was wonderful. We wanted to sit underneath the huge trees but is was a "blustery" day and cool, so a bit too chilly. So we took the food out by the bay and ate in the car.

Cute decor.

I love this spot. It's one of my unassuming favorites. All outdoor seating and it's essentially a jazzed up food truck..they make the ambience inviting. The staff is super friendly and always greets you with a smile. The menu isn't vast. They do have daily specials and when they run out, they run out. Obviously this is NOLA cuisine so you're going to have some of the norms. Red beans and rice, gumbo, Gator bites! I really do enjoy the food and price seems fair. Will continue to support this restaurant frequently. Hope you'll give it a shot too.

Service was great and super attentive. We started with the hush puppies, which were good. Definitely not the best, but they were still good. They came with a side of ranch. Out came the seafood boil, we ordered two one of their standard boils and then I did a customer boil with crab legs and sausage. We both added boiled eggs to ours and went with the mild spice level and Mr. And Mrs. Crab seasoning. They bring out a bib, gloves and a discard bucket when you order the boils. Overall, I thought it was pretty good. Again, not the best I've had but it satisfied our craving. My girlfriend thought it was delicious and was making sure to soak everything up in the sauce, haha. One thing I noticed was the crab was lacking on some of the legs, not as meaty. Not sure what caused that. Also, there was a bit of a funky after taste with the boil that I haven't encounter before. I don't know if it was the seasoning or the sauce. Just my personal opinion and others might think differently. Also, wasn't really a fan of the potatoes or the egg. Just tasted off to me. Overall, we had a good experience. Might return in the future to give it another shot.

PHENOMENAL!! I've lived here four years and never once walked through the door. The nights of…read moreindulgence I've missed are honestly shameful. Upon entering, I was struck by how small the space was, but it's cozy and intimate, and I understand exactly why it's been voted the most romantic restaurant around. It was our wedding anniversary, and we were acknowledged for 22 years of marital bliss. We were seated in the back left corner booth - THE prime table for two, right next to the sommelier station. We were promptly greeted by Sean, our server. There are some people you just know, from the moment they greet you, will take great care of you all evening. Sean has that rare tableside manner that blends personality, hospitality, and professionalism that exemplify the truly elevated dining experience. His presentation of the menu was practically an oration, painting a vivid picture of each dish, activating the cephalic phase of digestion. We started with his recommendation, a goat cheese bite for hors d'oeuvres. I'm still not sure what the base was, but it set the tone as the catalyst for every flavor that followed. For starters, my wife and I both chose the bisque: an onion-and-potato-based delight. I honestly don't remember what was in it, and honestly, I didn't care; it was perfection. From there, my wife went with the Black Pearl salad while I opted for the Caesar, curious to try their take on the classic. Her choice was the clear winner. The Caesar was generous and beautifully plated, but not the standout of the night. During his presentation, Sean claimed the filet was the best in Tampa Bay. Naturally, we had to find out for ourselves. Served Pittsburgh style, it did not disappoint - the heavy char deepened the juicy, flavor-packed bite with every cut. Best filet in Tampa Bay? It has my endorsement! Finally, dessert. We finished strong with the Banana Foster, a recipe with origins from the owner's grandmother. We also went with the Tarte Tatin, reportedly the most popular dessert on the menu for the past 18 years, per Sean. Once again, extraordinary. We're used to heading into Tampa or St. Pete for elevated dining. So happy we found this "pearl" right in our own backyard. Take my money!

We told the server right away, she apologized and corrected the order. Still charged extra instead of the combo price. Third, the food is average at best. If you put a plate from this restaurant next to a plate from Long John Silver's, there wouldn't be much difference. Maybe a tad better but not by much. Pretty much everything is fried, not many selection of fresh seafood. In the end, it shows they value money more than customer service, taking advantage of tourists who only come once in awhile. We were there for lunch on a weekend and only 2 other tables were occupied. Should have gotten the hint. While across town, all of the Frenchy's are full of people. Not ever coming back here again. Definitely not recommending this restaurant to anyone.
