Definitely a five star experience and we will be back. Parking in the lot in front is quite small, but there is a lot of parking around the area that's free. On the website they list out parking lots, so I would recommend checking that out. We ended up parking at a parking garage that was a couple minutes walk from the restaurant. Also, pro tip thanks Yelp, they do accept reservations. You have to look on OpenTable, though, I don't feel like I saw it on their website. We were there at 7 PM on Saturday and even without a reservation we would've gotten a table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, it is on the smaller side if you want to sit inside, they do have a back patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I saw a reserve sign on our table, so they definitely honor Reservations. I got hogarita which is their version of a margarita. It was good. My husband got an old-fashioned and liked it. The food is where this place really shines. I got hogfish grilled with their veggie of the day and key lime slaw. My husband got their salmon grilled with veggie of the day and hush puppies. The hush puppies are exceptional. I usually avoid carbs and I'm sure this one is really bad for you, but it was absolutely delicious. My husband, who normally isn't a huge fish eater liked his salmon. We both agreed, though that my hog fish was better. The hog fish was flaky and tender, a very mild tasting fish, but absolutely amazing. 10 out of 10 on this dish. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is pretty casual, it feels very down to earth with really good food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was attentive and quick, we will be back.

This was not our favorite place to eat in Dunedin. The food was just OK. We thought the food was way overpriced for what they serve you. The service was good and our server worked hard for us.

I have lived in the area my whole life yet somehow have never been here. Came for dinner last night and enjoyed it! Food came out quick and was delicious. Prices are average. The seafood tasted delicious and their key lime vinaigrette was amazing!!! We'd definitely come back!

Great service and great food! The fish is smoked and the dip made right on premises. Even though every fisherman and restaurant has their own secret recipe they consider the best, this version was very good. The Local Salad and Bay Bottom chowder were wonderful. This is definitely a locals spot. The servers are friendly and seemed to know most of the regulars by name. We would definitely return when we are in the area. Enjoy!

Perfect place to go with friends and they are super dog friendly. Food was delicious and the staff were wonderful. They have inside and outside seating. After dinner take a walk by the water. Especially around sunset. Views are amazing

Such a great experience here recently. Didn't know they took reservations so we were fortunate enough to get a table Friday night. Our server at our four top at the bar was friendly patient and knowledgeable. My wife and I had the shrimp and grits, and blackened hogfish. Both were super fresh and delicious. Combined w their key lime coleslaw and it was a perfect meal!

Kids meal menu with the unsolvable maze.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice food, nice relaxed atmosphere perfect for date nights and simply enjoying company.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had the fried shrimp kids meal and the 2 hogfish sliders with key lime coleslaw. Everything was fresh, cooked perfectly, and had nice presentation. We were seated right away on a Sunday evening and had good service. We teased the waitress about the unsolvable maze on the kids menu and she laughed and said she was aware. Kept my kid and I busy though so mission accomplished.

Always great service and always a great meal. An evening out with a life long friend. Great place for a nice cocktail and food. Fresh catch every day! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very relaxing and friendly atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have parking in front available. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are tables on the front patio, inside front room, a bigger back room and additional seating outside in the back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great for parties of all sizes![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Local family owned restaurant, so go support them! Salt and Pepper Catfish - this is HALF THE FISH, as I already ate half!

Been a while since we had good seafood, so chose Hog Island to burst that bubble. We were seated quickly despite not having reservations. It was busy, but not overly loud. I ordered the Salt and Pepper Catfish, and SO GLAD I did! The fish was perfectly seasoned and super melt in your mouth tender, with a great flavor. I was thankful for the huge portion, cause I had enough to take home for lunch the next day! The fries were a hefty portion as well. A bit greasy for my taste, as I prefer crispy, but they had a good, fresh flavor. The Cole slaw was unique with a lime background that hit right to offset the other flavors. Our server was super friendly and helpful, despite being busy. I ended up leaving my CC, which I discovered the next day, but the Manager had it safely stored and ready for me to pick up. All in all, Hog Island is a GREAT place for delicious seafood!

Panko parmesan crusted broiled hogfish, garlic mashed potatoes, buttered broiled broccoli

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant has a casual, laid back feel, but the food is fine dining.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My husband started out with a craft beer (nice craft selection, and half price thanks to happy hour) and I got a dirty vodka martini which was perfect. His meal was salt & pepper fried oysters and he upgraded from fries and key lime slaw to a side salad (sorry, no pic) and collard greens. I wanted the hogfish and asked the server for her suggestion on how to have it cooked. She suggested I have it broiled with the panko and parmesan crust, which turned out to be great advice. Had the garlic mashed potatoes and buttered grilled broccoli as my sides. Both meals were perfect, with very generous helpings. Our only regret was not having room for dessert because we both ate every delicious bite of our meals.

On the rare occasion that…read moreseafood was on the menu, it was typically a frozen variety like Groton's, or the occasional fish fry at the Elk's Club. That's changed since moving to the Gulf Coast of Florida, where the fish at the local restaurant today was probably swimming yesterday. My "go-to" seafood now is a grouper sandwich which I order blackened but NOT fried. I've sampled grouper sandwiches from many local dining establishments, but my favorite is from "Carvor's Fish House" A couple of important notes: 1) Carvor's is only open for LUNCH. Their hours vary, so you'll want to check the website, but they typically close at FIVE PM, with the last order accepted at FOUR PM. 2) Carvor's has NO inside dining The patio is tree-shaded with extra umbrellas but if it's really hot, you may be uncomfortable. 3) Carvor's has COUNTER SERVICE. You go inside, order your food and THEN go back outside and select a table. When your food is ready, a server will bring it to your table. 4) This is downtown Dunedin, and parking can occasionally be a challenge on Douglas Street, but FREE parking is available in the city parking garage across the street. Pictured is my "blackened grouper" sandwich. A refreshing change from the usual French fries is their homemade chilled tomato, cucumber and onion salad. Delish!

The next time, we went for lunch and they were out of some things that we initially ordered, but we ended up with a heating plate of fried things that kind of felt like bar food. It is a cute spot and I would probably try it again. I just did not think it lived anywhere near up to the hype that most locals give it.

The chicken Marsala needs improvement, the sauce didn't have great flavor and the chicken was not seasoned well. Using large (maybe portobello?) mushrooms provides a weird texture to the dish. On the other hand, when you cut into the Pork Chop, the heavens may part and angels sing. This chop is magnificent!!! We ordered on Wednesday night which offers a special Italian preparation with a tomato reduction sauce. The pork itself is so tender you can cut it with a fork. It melts in your mouth. GO for the pork chop! It's marvelous.

My Brother lives in St Pete and takes our Mom to eat there or calls in for take-out at least 2-3 times per month. We arrived tonight (Thursday) around 7:45 PM to bypass the dinner rush. Walking in to be seated, I noticed several empty tables that had not yet been cleared with several people waiting outside to be seated. I was told "there will be at least a 10-15 minute wait, to give my name, and to wait outside." I thought maybe there were enough people waiting already to take up the empty tables, but that wasn't the case. We sat outside in the cold waiting and watching the guy stand at the bar doing nothing to help bus the empty tables, some of which were right by the window. After 15 minutes or more, we were finally called in last walking by the same uncleared tables, led to another table as the table cloth was being placed on it, no menus, no apology for the extra long (unnecessary) wait outside in the cold. When we finally placed our order, we waited some more. Finally our server said "there was a mix up and our order had not gone through." When Mom's favorite seared salmon finally arrived, it was dry and overcooked. I have never written a bad review on Yelp in my life. But, I hated to see my precious Mom & Brother treated this way. Loyal customers should not be taken for granted.
