What a fantastic business. The owners as well as the employees are wonderful. Everyone seems to have a great outlook and really enjoys their work. The food is outstanding. They exclusively specialize in Cajun, low country, FL cracker recipes. In my typical fashion, I had to order several things on the menu. Each thing I ate was delicious. We had the crawfish Etouffee, chicken and sausage Gumbo, boudin balls and red beans & rice. The boudin balls were among the best I've had. I would prefer that the gumbo be a little thicker but the flavor was great. They offer a nice selection of craft beers and a few flavored seltzers. Please note that seating is limited and is only outside. The back country set-up is awesome. I can't wait to come back and try a few other options on the menu. read more

Omg, this place is the cutest! I could sit here all day. Felt like a complete getaway. The menu was short and sweet but I still had a hard time choosing. I could have sampled everything and after trying this first dish, I will! Ordered the Meatloaf blackened over rice with gravy on top and a side of the tomato cucumber salad. It was so delicious. The salad was so crisp and clean. Whatever herbs they put it it made everything taste so fresh. The meatloaf was better than any meatloaf I've ever had. Getting it blacked gave it a nice crispy crust but it was so moist and full of flavor. I am excited to visit again soon. read more

I've driven by this place a hundred times and each time I say "we should try that place, looks interesting". FINALLY did it and now I'm kicking myself that I haven't gone sooner. Dropped in for a rose and a beer. Added on a delicious smoked fish dip which came with your standard saltines and the alligator bites. The bites were grilled sausage, a little smoky, a little salty with just the right amount of crunchy fat. Yum. Loved the little colourful patio overlooking the street. Waitress was amazing. I love this spot. It's one of my unassuming favorites. All outdoor seating and it's essentially a jazzed up food truck..they make the ambience inviting. The staff is super friendly and always greets you with a smile. The menu isn't vast. They do have daily specials and when they run out, they run out. Obviously this is NOLA cuisine so you're going to have some of the norms. Red beans and rice, gumbo, Gator bites! I really do enjoy the food and price seems fair. Update. Went back this week for Crawfish Etouffee, with my wife. YUM! Delicious! Lots of yummy tails and a bit spicy. My taste runs a bit more heat so a good shot of Tabasco made it perfect. My wife had the Shrimp PoBoy and loved it. Kept stating how soft and yummy the bread was, and the shrimp was wonderful. We wanted to sit underneath the huge trees but is was a "blustery" day and cool, so a bit too chilly. So we took the food out by the bay and ate in the car. read more

Why 4 stars? Because I'd been craving a po boy and was happy to scratch that itch while finally visiting Happy's. --- --- --- I bookmarked Happy's a long time ago, but I don't find myself in Dunedin very often. I recently visited another restaurant with cajun cuisine, but ended up having major regret after-the-fact that I didn't order a classic po boy. All of that added up to me feeling the need to drive out to Dunedin and make magic happen. For those not in love with the idea of eating at restaurants post-COVID, Happy's is probably a great place to start. It's technically a food truck, but with a decent amount of spread-out seating. All of the seating is obviously outdoors, but covered pretty solidly by trees and large umbrellas. There is ample hand sanitizer around and they even spray down the iPad before you have to sign your digital credit card bill. I ended up enjoying my Shrimp Po Boy, but I do wish it had been on a more traditional hoagie type roll, rather than French bread. The problem is that the shrimp would fall out of the sandwich with every bite I took. I ended up getting two sides - the macaroni salad and some Voodoo Zapps chips. I love those damn chips so much, so it's always a bonus when I see them available. The mac salad was pretty bland and unremarkable, to be honest. I'd check out Happy's again when I'm in the area and craving another po boy! read more

Pulled up to this welcoming, rustic joint after biking to and from Honeymoon Island & the Pinellas Trail. The outdoor seating vibe matches the food, low-key out in the Louisiana country.... Fantastic live music. We had the gator bites, gumbo, and shrimp & crab salad with Louisiana beers to wash it down. Highly recommend this place. Staff warm and welcoming. Atmosphere: Very cool out door Bayou atmosphere. They had a live blues band playing that sounded great! A woman was lead vocals with a man on guitar. Awesome! My only reason for 4 stars vice 5 is that the seating is all outside. I think this place is a food truck with extra infrastructure. I went here in the spring so it was manageable to be outside but not great. I can't imagine coming here during the summer. It would be way to hot and muggy. Food: Insanely good! I got the special which was the Cajun Grilled cheese. It tasted great and had a side of red beans and rice. The side was not as flavorful as the sandwich but it was still good. My wife had the fried oysters and said they were excellent. Overall: Great service and nice folks. The crowd was not diverse at all. Not sure if that was due to time of year. Tried this place because of Yelp telling us it was good and very close to our hotel. They were spot on. Shrimp creole was fantastic. Shrimp was plentiful, fresh, and had great flavor.
