She remember me & my bestfriend because we come there a lot so she asked us about how school is going and everything. Bay Leaf Cafe deserves this 4 star rating... The waiters or employees were all really friendly, even brought out a cold water bowl for my puppy. Outside seating is set up really nice, relaxing and very comforting! The food was very delicious had no complaints at all. I ordered the Burrito Omelet it came with potatoes or hash brown, the potatoes were very flavorful and the burrito was heaven! With the Chicken Fried Steak, the gravy and Chicken fried steak just melts in your mouth. The gravy wasn't thick or to soupy! Really suggest this cafe for a brunch. read more

This was the very first restaurant I YELP'd, and boy was I thankful! I was looking for a good mom'n'pop style breakfast joint, and read the reviews about this place. Two thumbs up! They serve a lot of breakfast for the money, and it's well worth it! I've only eaten breakfast here, and have always been super satisfied. Someday I'll try their other items... someday!!! I paid cash, got no receipt for my to go order. I ordered a strawberry waffle with the whipped cream and strawberrys on the side. Both the Pepsi and Dr pepper were flat. The other person who eat with me was unpleased with their meal. My waffle was over cooked and was a little cardboard tasting. Plus I didn't receive the strawberry's or the whipped cream on the side. A quaint little place you'll miss if you're not looking for it, nestled into a store front in downtown Concord. I really wanted an omelette yesterday, and this was the only place nearby besides Dennys to get one late in the day. It's not a big place, but the atmosphere is homey. I was really surprised that so multiple people greeted me as soon as I came in. Either everyone were regulars, or family. I figured it was a family owned place. There was even a teenager/young adult who greeted me warmly. Acknowledging a customer's presence immediately is important. It wasn't busy, so my server was at my table as soon as I sat down. The menu wasn't extensive, but definitely adequate. The server was perplexed about why I refused the bread, hash browns, and/or fruit that comes with. We had an engaging talk about diabetes. I ordered the omelette with spinach and mushrooms. Forget the name but it's three most popular one. My food came fast. Wasn't good. Wasn't bad. I ate the whole thing. I love places like Bay Leaf Cafe. Went there for a business meeting and it was a great home cooking breakfast and lunch place. Got a simple ham omelette, country potatoes (I prefer country over hash browns), wheat toast and coffee. Really nice service with attention to refills on water and coffee. I can see why downtown Concord locals like to eat there. Beats the chain restaurants. I'll save Denny's for late night eats. I like supporting local restaurant businesses anyway. read more

Very disappointed. I've come here several times and considered this place MY Breakfast spot. Close to home and food was good. However if the service is not good then I dont feel comfortable spending my money. Walked in this morning, saw a seat at the counter. Asked hostess if the seat was available and was rudely asked how many. I stated just 1 and he motioned with his hand. I guess to say take the seat. I sat there for a good 6 mins before a lady said hi and saw I didn't have a menu or water. Instead of her apologizing and rectifying the situation she says to the rude man get her a menu. I had not eaten here in several years not sure if it the same owners. I ordered the 1/2 order of French toast, eggs over medium and baconThe bacon was crisp like I like it, the French toast was very good But the eggs were perfect best I have had in a long time. Over medium is tough on cooks I don't want uncooked whites and I don't want the yolks to be hard. These were perfect. Service was fast and friendly coffee cup stayed filled we sat outside because of Covid-19 they have several small outside tables. And you get plastic knives and forks but that is not their fault. I Just don't know...I wasn't sure if it's self seating or wait to be seated , I asked one of the servers and she said just sit anywhere... the problem was none of the tables were clean. I found a table but it took 15 minutes for anyone to even stop and say, Have you been helped yet? The coffee tasted SO watered down. No flavor at all. The Bay Leaf service was nice enough and no waiting on a weekday morning, but their huevos rancheros was very bland and heavy on the hamburger. Kind of like how I'd imagine huevos would be from Taco Bell (please tell me they don't serve it). I belong to the "I shouldn't have to smother my food in hot sauce/ketchup to give it flavor" camp. We have been longtime patrons of Bay Leaf Cafe for at least 5+ years. In fact we have our own name for it: The Breakfast Store. When my son was younger (he's 12 now) everything was a store (the grocery store, car store, haircut store, breakfast store...) Bay Leaf became our defacto go-to breakfast store every other Saturday when the housekeepers would come to clean the house. Being longtime customers, we've seen changes in the menu, staff, and pricing over the years. Overall tho, the quality and amount of food for the price is good. We typically get the same things every time we go: 3 Cheese Omelet, Turkey and Spinach Omelet, Corned Beef Hash and Eggs, or the waffle. All are very good, nothing is overly greasy, and the presentation on the plate shows careful attention. Con: I subtracted one star because the main cook has been replaced. I like to order my eggs "over-medium." Properly done, you get a fried egg, with a basted yolk, completely cooked, perfect for toast-dipping, but with no egg white snot. (Sorry for the snot reference in a food critique) The new guy flips the fried eggs rather than basting the yolk. A few times I've received a fried egg brown on both sides and almost looking like hash browns. Only a small gripe in the scheme of things, and Bay Leaf still remains our Breakfast Store. read more

I love their omelette's. Probably one of the worst tuna melts I've ever had though. It was so soggy in my opinion. Bottomless coffee and I also agree that the fresh fruit as a side dish is one of the perks in my opinion. When I lived a bit closer it was part of my Sunday morning ritual to ride my bike there and have breakfast. It's super cute and I think the girls who serve are pretty cool too. We just moved to Concord and wanted to find a local spot to get some Sunday brunch. Located near Todos Santos Plaza, this cute little cafe is just what we were looking for! The menu: many omelet options, eggs, egg beaters, fixins of all kinds, sweet stuff like pancakes and waffles, low fat options, and then your normal sandwiches, etc. I ordered a turkey, avocado and mushroom omelet with a side of fruit and wheat toast. The omelet was huge, the fruit was fresh and plenty of it, and the wheat toast was..well...wheat toast. Bottomless coffee was also flowin'. The service was good. They were attentive and friendly and let us hang out and enjoy our meal. It looks like they also have outdoor seating which would be nice for summer. The interior isn't anything fancy but it's cute and comfy. The rest of my group ordered the chorizo, huevos rancheros, and the belgian waffle. We all thought the food was really good. The one big weakness is their coffee - it's some of the worst coffee I've ever had. So if the owners are listening...please, please, please switch to a better brand of coffee. I discovered this place as I moved into the neighborhood and what a great find it is. We popped in there for brunch/lunch one weekend day and had a fabulous meal. Since then we've been there almost a half of dozen times and the food has always been consistently good. By far my favorite items are the Breakfast ones. The restaurant is small and so that's downside as when its full its a little loud in there. Many people (myself include) enjoys slipping their coffee after their meal, which is known to cause a little back-up/line, but trust me its worth the wait. another small draw back is a parking. It's to the point that I order your food KNOWING it's going to be crap so I won't be disappointed anymore. It's a shame, too. Over this last year of my working so close to you, you have over cooked burgers, deep fried Costco style frozen fries, charged me $10 for mediocre salads, over mayonased my egg salad, under baconed by BLTs, and have even gone as far as to serve me spoiled tomatoes - which cost me $10 also. I've reached my breaking point, your food is just unacceptable. My husband went in with my mother in law and my self for a late lunch. They both ordered meals that in total were about $8.95 each and I ordered a salad for $11.00. He asked for a side of sausages that was about 4.95 When the waitress brought the bill, she had wrote down 60.35. He asked why the bill was so high for what he ordered. All he could see was a bunch of scribbling on the receipt. She didn't have a clue as to what was on there..so he took out his phone and added all the things meals plus drinks. (as she was standing next to him observing) In fact the waitress was trying to screw him over..his bill was actually 45.00. Please pay attention to your bill if you ever decide to go there. The last 4 times my husband and I came to dine in, they messed up something about at least one of our plates, if not both. Today we were atypically impatient because we had already waited over half an hour, only to be given opposite of what my husband had asked for (my plate was fine this time). But when we told the waitress about our disappointment and frustration, and how this happens way more often than it needs to, her response to my face was: "Maybe you shouldn't come here, then." The shock! I couldn't believe that the big blondish girl with bad makeup would dare say that, in front of other customers and within earshot of the owner! I'm really glad I checked this place out. Came here on accident but not really. I have known about this place for years and it has since, been on my list of places to go. I made an arrangement to meet up with my bff here being we both love the ToDo's Santos hood. I had also bought a Groupon deal for what I thought was for this place which turned out to be for a similar place in Concord :( It was kind of a bum at first, but ended up turning out for the best! The place it self, is a little small though, there is plenty of seating, especially in the back area of the restaurant. The decor kind of has a authentic, Thai like feel to it, certainly not in sync with the Americanized menu they have but nice. They really have a nice standard American menu giving you plenty of delicious sounding choices to choose from including a really great burger selection. After seated, we were greeted by a very nice lady server. We proceeded to order 2 cups of green tea. After scanning the menu for several minutes we decided what we wanted to eat. I decided to order the Pest Chicken Sandwich topped with Garlic Basil Pesto sauce and jack cheese grilled on sourdough bread. It also came with Fry's which I did not want so, for an extra dollar I substituted it for a small little side of there home made chili. My bff ordered the Patty Melt with an added addition of Guacamole and Mushrooms I believe for an extra dollar each. Her hamburger also came with a side which she ended up choosing fruit. Our meals arrived after about a 15 min wait looking quite delicious. And delicious it was! My chicken pesto sandwich tasted fantastic! It also was grilled pretty well too. The chili was ok but not great enough to want to have the whole thing. My bff looooved her pattty melt and it looked fantab!! Also he side array of beautiful, bright, vibrant fruit had me wishing I ordered some. It was very impressive! Bay Leaf is just around the corner from my Granny's place. She loves to come here for lunch and we've been here quite a few times over the last couple of years. The prices are kinda high for a cafe but the portions are good and the food is usually pretty good. The thing I love best is the fresh fruit...really fresh, cut huge and big portions. Disappointed. Reading all the great reviews on Bay Leaf Cafe I was excited to eat here for Sunday brunch after church. This place gets packed..FAST! We opt for the counter but the wait to be seated at a table was no longer than 10 mins. I looked over the menu via online which I pleased to see many diner favorites such has, biscuits, omelettes, benedicts, sandwiches etc. Corned Beef Hash- straight out of can, left on the grill to be crisped up. Plain, tasteless, and boring. Country Fried Steak- Pre-cooked steak taken out of the freezer than was dunked in hot oil to be reheated. Plain, was left on top of the fryer and served lukewarm. The gravy was less than impressive either. Country potatoes are left in the oven crisped up on the stove, actually were pretty good. Service was ok. We seated ourselves and the host came by to serve us drinks. I think the service is a hit or miss here. They were busy when we went and little details like condiments, refills and utensils were overlooked. The food is less then impressive and are quick semi homemade items. I do see the freshness in the veggies and fruit but everything else looked/tasted store bought. We went in on a Sunday morning for nice a breakfast and were given quite the opposite.... the food was ridiculously bland. I ordered Steak and Eggs and never have I been disappointed with something so simple until now. The meat was of the lowest quality, bland and difficult to chew. The eggs and side of hashbrown I had were tasteless and undercooked. My coffee was lukewarm and after asking for a fresh cup, the new cup of coffee was somehow over brewed and very bitter. I left ready to ask for my money back, since I hardly finished anything on my plate. Prices seemed reasonable until after tasting the food. The place is also very small and gets easily crowded. My girlfriend and I originally decided to go here solely because it had outside seating and it was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, but we ended up enjoying the service as well as the food! They had a "Weekend Specials" menu which included a few options that aren't normally available during the week, such as a few more omelet options, eggs benedict, and biscuits and gravy. My girlfriend ordered the spinach omelet, I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, and we also split some banana and pecan pancakes. The breakfast sandwich surprisingly came out as two sandwiches, each on hearty biscuits (the biscuits were a little dry), and a side of hash brown (which was also sort of bland). The pancakes were delicious, though! It was an excellent combination and they were fairly light for what you'd expect. My girlfriend said the hamburg in her spinach omelet would have been better had it been spiced or seasoned, too. The service was great and we got many refills on our water (I hate when the waiter/waitress does not offer to fill up my glass enough-but they were all over it!). They do not take AMEX or Discover, so do plan on using another form of payment (they take MasterCard or Visa). All in all, we would definitely go back! read more

Don't come here on a Saturday. We waited 20 minutes to be sat then a waitress hugged a group of people and sat them immediately. Very disappointing as we have come here many times and been pleased. After walking past us several times with our menus laid down, our waitress then proceeded to take peoples orders who were seated after us. My coffee cup was empty by the time she reached us. It seems to be a much more enjoyable experience on weekdays. Long story short, we ordered to go because the food is bomb but the service needs work. (On a happier note, the waffles are great.)
