Horrible customer service. Please avoid this shop at all costs. I went in for a simple inspection for my car and after mentioning I have tinted windows for a medical condition I have, along with proper documentation that these tints are legal for me due to my condition. The owner began harassing me and began cursing at me, completely disregarding everyone around him and told me to leave. Very unprofessional and horrible customer service. Update: After reading his response, everything he said was a straight lie. Explaining to him I had an eye condition to which he began harassing me about. As well as my nypd parking plate which was for my vehicle. This man is full of lies and does not know how to run a shop properly. Harassing me over my tints and my nypd parking permit? Seriously? I had to change the brakes, so I went to the Benz dealer for my ML 350 '14, they said I have to change 1 front rotor and the front and back breaks, they wanted $1950 for the work. Plus I had to do the scheduled maintenance and that was an add'l $700, for a total of $2650. This amount caught me by surprise so I decided to check what the local mechanics charge for the same work. I found Bay Diagnostic and the reviews looked good so I took it in to get a price. They changed the front rotors and front brakes, the back didn't need to be changed plus they did the scheduled maintenance (oil change, filter change, etc) and everything came out to about $800. It was a good deal IMO They are professional and have a zen like quality to their shop and work. They exude an aura of truthfulness and not out to get you with unnecessary work or other tricks of the trade. Overall, it was an orgasmic experience and sure to be back again, I like happy endings! read more

I live in Park Slope, but the trip to Bay Diagnostics is well worth it! Jordan and Allen are courteous (actually, friendly), knowledgeable (obviously), accommodating, and very professional. Even though they always seem quite busy, the shop is immaculate, a good sign as far as I'm concerned. My first visit was an emergency belt replacement, for which I was towed in by AAA, shortly before closing time on a Friday afternoon. My car is older, and they actually had to get the belts, but it only took about an hour start-to-finish! I went the Bay Diagnostic to repair my coolant leaks on my BMW 750Li. The shop is well managed and stocked with amenities. The owner is very easy to communicate with and my car was fixed the same day in just four hours. However, here are something I think they can do better: #1. The checkout process is way too slow, their computer system is old and takes about 10+min just to do the paperwork. #2. They replaced my coolant tank and I'm pretty much sure it is not BMW part, rather, an aftermarket with good quality. I wish they show a list of different parts and prices to me before ordering anything. They should promptly asking customers to come inside the factory and show them the problem in person. #3. Their workers are not very friendly to talk with. They test drove my car and left the steering wheel with dirty oil and bad smell. Didn't even care about removing the paper protector on the floor. Small things make a different. Overall, my car was fixed in a timely manner, with good quality parts, and experienced bimmer staff members. I wish they could be better. The overall price is not cheap at all, but if you don't want dealer harassment then come to here. read more

Very good auto mechanics. I turned to them for service on my BMW 135i because they are an authorized Dinan installer. Dinan makes high-end BMW performance parts, so I figured that this indicated they are a cut above the average shop. So far, that has been true. I've had them do regular maintenance work on the car, including prepping for driving the car on the race track, and have been very satisfied with price, timeliness and professionalism. They also will install your own parts (in my case, track-oriented brake pads and brake fluid) without giving you any gruff about it not coming from them. read more

Jordan the owner verbally acosted me stating, "if you don't tell me the truth it's going to cost you more." Yelling at me, insulting and ridiculing me from start to finish. I took two days off work, both unplanned because they told me to tow it in and then refused to accept the car even though I explained the tumbler had been removed. Then another day to have it towed to another shop. As I explained to Jordan the car belongs to my MOM and has some sentimental attachment because it was my FATHERS who recently passed away. I apologise if I don't know the exact history of who initially tried repairing the car but it was someone who took $200 from my elderly MOM, unlike Jordan who took around $275 plus removed the back seat and didn't put it back in. FYI the battery is in the trunk not under the back seat! I personally covered the cost of Jordans"labor", which I guess he claimed was to call Mercedes-Benz to get the cost of the ignition. Thanks for charging $275 to destroy the back seat. In addition, I covered the cost to have it repaired for my MOM of $750 at another shop, plus Jordan's ridiculous charge of $275 and the my MOM paying $200 to a locksmith. So all in $1,225 for an ignition. Man, I am in the wrong business! $475 basically stolen from an elderly woman! The tow truck driver let Jordan know how he was speaking and treating me was unacceptable. The tow truck driver had to get involved because Jordon wouldn't release the car because he was "on lunch". The tow truck couldn't wait an hour for Jordan to finish lunch, which would require me paying for another tow. When I went in to ask Jordan to please release the car he cursed at me and slammed the door, literally hitting my leg with the door. The tow truck driver couldn't believe it! Literally slammed the door on my leg. Jordan's estimate of $2,300 to repair an ignition was fixed same day at another shop for only $750. I am sure he is going to respond to this post with a distorted version of the truth but the reality is he was terrible from the beginning to end. Even his own employees apologized for his behavior and bad manners. If you believe this shop has a 4 star review and mine is the only negative one, take a look at the reviewers, these are all fake accounts. Finally, Jordan claimed as part of the charges "$149 for a computer diagnosis" but never gave me the report, which as the mechanic who actually fixed the car explained is required. read more

Ok- INSANE, before I even walked off the premises, the owner literally said to me, "hey! You didn't leave the keys in the car, next time I tell you to do something, do it. " hahahaha like, seriously? I came in to get my BMW X3 diagnosed- simple procedure, and all the sudden they were aggressively badgering me about how they couldn't simply give me an approximate time to come back. When I needed a couple minutes to make a decision, I made a phone call to my brother who is a mechanic to see what if it was worth it to even diagnose the car, rather than just selling it- the owner walked up to me and said- and I am not exaggerating, "hey guy, take your car and get off my property". I said, "what's wrong with you man, I just need a couple minutes to make a decision", he literally told me to suck his d*ck. I mean- if my wife had been the one to take the car- I would be there with the cops right now. In fact. I may just call them now. Don't go here...lol. read more

Have been using Bay Diagnostics since 1989. Excellent service, always call with an estimate and my approval before doing any work. They have serviced all my cars, from my Volvo wagons. Porsche 911, Mitsubishi wagon, Hyundai wagon, Chevy Blazer, and now my Ford Escape. Don't charge for any small issues, like a frozen wheel, to charge a battery, and have always done excellent repairs on any accidents that have accosted my cars. Car is always ready to go when they say it will be. Always professional, personable, and a pleasure to have been dealing with them. Would recommend them in a Brooklyn minute. read more

I used Bay Diagnostics a number of times for my early 90's Mercedes before I found a much better mechanic. I have found from my experiences since Bay that they really overcharge on labor and also tried on a number of occasions to sell me parts I didn't need. At one point they told me that I would need a whole view panel replaced if I wanted I wanted a persistant indicator light turned off and its internal light turned back on. This would cost over $1000. They didn't push it, but I found out later that it was just a a matter of an inexpensive relay switch that fixed them both. This as well as too many "really best not to take the risk" repairs make me very wary of their service. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere read more

Took my car in for an inspection, got a call that the car needed new brakes and rotors or the car wouldn't pass inspection. Went in to look at them, they were rusted I guess, maybe there were still ok but I didn't have time to argue or take it to another mechanic as I needed to get the inspection done. Came out of there with a $790 tab for an inspection and new brakes. Brakes usually cost around $200 to buy online plus whatever the labor is. Basically the place seemed like a pretty nice shop, however the prices are outrageous. If you plan on getting work done at this shop, make sure you shop around and check their prices. Worst part is, the new brakes feel the same as the old brakes. read more

The fact that the owner feels the need to argue with reviewers on Yelp is indicative of the mediocre quality of the work - that time would probably be better spent doing actually thorough work. WHAT A HASSLE! Ive never see a mechanic shop that so call "works with european cars" do a patchy job on my 2001 C-Class and tries to hide it! this place is filled with scum bags that will sweet talk you and screw your car up. I went there to have my crank sensor repaired, and my car cameback whistling like a tea kettle. What I KNOW had happen was that, who ever was repairing my crank sensor from bay diagnostic, broke a housing to my air line and tried to patch it up with tape and another piece of hose. I took my car to the dealer and they pointed that out to me, telling me "whoever tried to fix your car broke the air line, and tried to patch it up, thats why the car was sounding like that". ...and i didnt even tell you about the time that it took to repair a crank sensor from this place that "works with european cars". After I paid for my repair, JORDAN (the fat baldheaded one whos the owner of the shop) told me that it will take 3 hours to replace my crank sensor, which I didnt mind, but then I waited and he asked me to come back another day, so I did. I called the next morning asking about my car and this bastard gave me an attitude saying that i was rushing him, when he did tell me that it will take 3 hours to change a simple part. Now i know why they took so long, it was because they broke my air line and tried to patch it up. Honestly, this shop was a total waste of time, total fakers! I hope this shop goes out of business one day because of the BS they give people, because of lack of honesty!! read more

I found this shop in my AAA book ,so I called them up tuesday ,to bring my car in thursday to change my transmission fluid ,then I was told I would have to wait 6 hours to 5 pm or later,waiting room was tiny,and crowded. .I decided after he told me that they were not going to drop the pan and leave in the old dirty filter,they were just going to flush in new oil and flush out the old oil and not change the filter .I walked back got my car and left I went to the mobil station on knapp st and had it done there,the right way dropped the pan changed the filter and changed all the fluid ,I dont think much of this place and the owner was surly,when I questioned him about changing my signal bulbs,and checking my alternator belt ,I 'll use the shops in my area from now on .GOOD RIDANCE,I'm glad I took my car outta there.I think all the reviews were written by friends or relatives ... read more

I was about to purchase a 2001 Merc SLK from a owner nearby this establishment. Being from PA I had no clue where to go, and the dealers within a 15 mile radius (3 of them) did not offer a simple diagnostic check-up to make sure everything is doing well before I made the purchase. Long story short I found them through the search engines, made an appointment and took it in on monday. Although they coulden't find my appointment they took me in right away! 15 mins into it they called me and the current owner of the car and told me what was wrong and right away the owner turned to me and said if I were you I would look for another car. Further into the conversation he said his reputation is on the line and hence why he likes to be honest with all his customers. The best part of this all... the diagnostic was supposed to be $100 and because they did not complete it, the owner did not even charge me anything (all he asked was to take care of the mechanic who originally was looking at the car)... I was truly surprised by his kindness, and would definitely recommend them for Mercedes, BMW, or other vehicles. Absolutely unprofessional place. They charged me 400$ for fixing the oil leak which wasn't fixed in 2 month period. Finally all engine belts got ripped and I had to tow my car to another service that fixed everything for the same price in one day. Plus they charged me 100$ for computer diagnostic and said it's gonna cost another 900$ to fix SRS sign on dashboard. In fact it has gone after guys from another service simply fixed an oil leak and cleaned everything inside. read more

I know nothing about cars, so I am a prime candidate to get screwed by an untrustworthy mechanic (and I am sure I have been taken numerous times in the past). My car died in the middle of the street, and, on a recommendation from a buddy of mine, I had it towed to Bay Diagnostic. These guys stayed late to wait for the tow truck. The next day, they checked the car and ran it for 5+ hours in order to determine what the problem was. They found the problem--but instead of charging me and making the repair, they told me that Volkswagen would be better suited to make the repair because of a security code issue. They even offered to speak to VW and tell them exactly what needed to be done! They charged me zero, and I am so grateful for that. Guy in front extremely rude to deal with (Allen). Typical shady shop looking to pray on the incompetent customer. They changed a module on my w221 and ended up charging my warranty company 2500+ and STILLL tried to charge me $450+ for "diagnostic fee"; I had to pay it was already in there for like 4 hours or so. I took the car to another mechanic after for another repair and and they said that they shouldn't have charged me for diagnostic fee and that they lied and the insurance company I had pays for all diagnostic fee associated with this specific repair. So Basically they Took advantage of me. I came to them from bimmerforums stating that their work was good. It may be the good but their way of dealing with customers is disgusting. I've been having my oil changed here for the past 7 years and the service is always reliable and relatively fast. The prices are fair. They have THE CLEANEST bathroom and waiting area of any car garage I've ever been to. The waiting area is air conditioned, has a variety of magazines, coffee, and wifi. The staff is consistent and the man who works the front desk is friendly. They recognize me and my car when we pull into to garage. Need reliable service?...go here. And be nice. read more
