After taking my classic aged BMW to several shops, and getting sold unnecessary repairs, and getting told "maybe this or that" - I found Mike at Boro Park & Euro Auto. The diagnosis was spot on - an unusual chip in the engine intake valve. The total repair was less expensive than at some other "part changer" shops. Neither Mercedes nor BMW dealership mechanics won't diagnose the cars as fast and as accurately as here. Even US Secret Service used this shop during 2018 United Nations General Assembly. I am not a "car guy" at all. I have a car. I have a family. I have a car that gets me and my family shopping and to Sesame Place and to visit friends and extended family around the Northeast. We drive to malls and movie theaters. I'm not a car guy. Maybe you're a car guy. I'm not. There is little more intimidating to me than walking into a garage to get ANYTHING done to a car. Fortunately, I have developed a foolproof method for getting good service: once I find a mechanic I trust, use him for everything. It's worked like a charm. When I moved to Brooklyn I started using a Midas and it was OK. Then a couple of weird things happened and I asked ten or twelve friends and acquaintances if they knew a reputable, reliable mechanic I should use. All but one said that Gerry and Adrian at Borough Park Auto Diagnostics were the best in the area. I was sort of shocked by the unanimity of opinions. Only one person suggested another place. So, I called and made an appointment for an oil change and to check all fluids and tires. From the moment I walked in and started talking to Gerry, I knew everything was going to be OK. It's been about five years, now; and I can't imagine going anywhere else. When Gerry says: "You need the thingamajig replaced because the whatsit and the whatchamacallit are wearing out," I trust him. I came here 4y ago, shortly before I was a Yelp regular, basically I had a check engine light yet I'm religious about maintenance every 6mos and drive very little (under 3000mi/y) thus particularly alarmed. After 2 bad experiences with Bay Ridge Nissan and and with my usual Somerset Nissan (now Bridgewater Nissan) too far away with the issue, I Yelped locally and found this business. I called, the soft voice on the phone said they were open, and I went straight there on a Saturday morning. The neighborhood is largely Orthodox Jews thus it was very very quiet at 10am and I immediately spotted the entrance. The proprietor put a face to his voice and explained what he thought could cause it, likely labor for diagnostics, rough related costs and time, and the likely outcome, but that the 7-bay garage was full thus he couldn't do the diagnostic right away but within an hour. I waited a bit but family needs forced me to go home. I thanked him for his very generous explanation with an honesty which was so welcome and refreshing after those other bad NYC auto-related businesses which I Yelp reviewed. I'm surprised this place doesn't have a bazillion 5-star reviews. They are honest, knowledgeable, and affordable. I got a good feeling from the get-go when I called to book an appointment. Adrian, who is the owner (I believe), asked me a lot of questions and sounded like he knew what he was talking about. When I said my car makes this loud grinding noise only when it's cold, he suggested I drop my car off at the shop the night before, so that they could start it up in the morning (when it's cold) and hear the noise for themselves. Seems obvious, I guess, but I know nothing about cars, OK? Gerry, the other owner, took my car when I dropped it off, and I got friendly and honest vibes from him too. My favorite part was that they texted me a link to a full diagnostic/inspection report of my car. The report included pictures of the issues (no rear brake pads and old tires), so I knew I wasn't being jerked around. Single ladies, raise your hand if you feel me. Turns out the grinding noise was just the exhaust rubbing against something, and it was easy to fix. So that, and rear brake pads, came to around $220, which is more than fair, in my opinion. Adrian could have done the work the same day, but he wanted to wait until he had the higher quality brake pads in stock. He explained that the cheaper ones don't work as well and make funny noises sometimes. I don't drive daily so I didn't mind waiting, and it was only two days. My car no longer makes funny noises and I feel better knowing I have quality brake pads. If you need work done on your car, don't go anywhere else--just go here. Seriously. I find you want three things from a mechanic, Honesty, low prices, and skill at diagnosing and fixing cars. Most mechanics maybe give you one, Borough Park gives you 2 out of the 3: honesty and skill. You can find cheaper places to do the work, but it's unlikely that they will be able to daignose and fix the issues correctly, and you'l always be wondering if they mechanic is trying to sell you stuff you don't need. My car had issues that that 2 other mechanics couldn't figure out, a week at the shop and they had her running like new. They won't hard sell stupid flushes and filters and if something is problematic they stand by their work. He tried 3 different rearview mirrors on my car before he told me that it was bad wiring in the car, i appreciated that. If you want your car fixed correctly, and you don't want to worry about dishonesty and un-needed services go here. read more

These guys are great. Friendly, helpful and they do fast work. They're good about accommodating your schedule, and make suggestions for what you might want to think about getting fixed before it gets bad (but no pressure). When my pregnant daughter stopped by 2 minutes before closing one time, they stayed late to make sure she had a safe tire on the car. And I never feel patronized (not always true for women and mechanics). I have no reason to go anywhere else. read more

We've been going to Gerry and Adrian for ages. A friend referred them to us and our second hand Volvo got a lot more mileage thanks to them. Our 2001 Subaru Forester eventually needed their help. As others have said, Gerry and Adrian are skilled, fair, and honest. Life is a little easier knowing that at least car problems will be manageable thanks to them. read more
