My mechanic recommended Globe when a warning light indicated my transmission was slipping. Globe reset the computer, test drove my car, and said me everything was fine. They said the alert was probably triggered by slipping in ice. Globe did everything promptly, courteously, and they didn't charge me a cent, since they said nothing was wrong. My car is low mileage, so all I needed was a part fixed, not a transmission overhaul (a few years ago, with another low-mileage car, I got tricked into one... an expensive mistake) I was happy to find Globe Automatic Transmissions, which was nearby my home and had a good rating on an Internet site. Vito, the owner, correctly diagnosed the problem (a broken band) and gave me an estimate over the phone. My regular mechanic noticed a leaking rear main engine oil seal as well as a leaking oil pan seal in my recently-bought 2009 model car. The job was too big for him to handle-- the transmission would have to be pulled-- but he warned me that it was a "big job" and could cost into four-figure territory. When I asked for recommendations on a shop to do the work, Globe Transmissions and the owner Vito were recommended very highly. Not having any better options (and after reading a couple of reviews on Yelp) I decided to give it a shot. I brought my car in around 9 AM on Thursday (I called first). By about noon that day, Vito called me with the news-- as my regular mechanic had observed, I had two leaking oil seals (including the dreaded rear main seal). We talked through the estimate on the phone and I OK'd him to begin work. By about 2:30 PM on Friday (the next day), my car was done. The total was exactly the number he quoted in the estimate-- here's the kicker: it was FAR below the range my original mechanic said I should expect to pay-- about half of the top number in the speculated price range. Vito and Globe Transmission shop offered honest, fast service at a reasonable price. My oil leaks are fixed, and while it's never fun to be on the hook for big $$$ car repair, I feel grateful that I was able to connect with a shop that didn't mess me around, take advantage of my situation, or do any funny business. I've been going to globe transmission for many years. They've serviced various cars and SUV's that I've owned. They've surprised me on a number of occassions. My most recent experience came when my SUV was having problems shifting out of first gear. I thought for sure the transmission needed to be changed. Vito called me and told me it was a minor adjustment that needed to be made, and made the repair. Made my day! When I picked up the vehicle another customer came in and had a similar problem. Again, Vito advised that it was really just an an adjustment that needed to be made. He could have easily sold us both a new transmission, as we were both expecting just that. Not sure why everyone is raving about this place. Dropped by car off at 8am one morning and was told I'd hear back ASAP once they diagnosed the problem, 3:30PM and still no call I decided to call them. Vito answers "Oh... Yeah, something is wrong. I'll have to drop your transmission for $450 to figure out what it is. It will be $3,000 to fix everything" Thanks for letting me know when you figured it out. Called a place LITERALLY around the corner, half price. Same warranty. Tried to get him to lower the price a little bit and he basically told me to leave. Whatever. Your loss. read more

horrendous. got a rebuilt transmission from them 6 months ago (which, if done right according to Vito can last forever). it's died 4 times. can't tell you how much this has cost me in lost work, tow trucks, rentals. read more

Really great, trust worthy shop! I had problems w/ my truck. I did do a lot of research before I brought it in to try to trouble shoot it myself. I asked them to take a look at it for me & that if it was a tranny issue that I was gonna junk it bc it was gonna be more than the truck's worth. They had it a few days and gave me a call back. They told me it was the vacuum modulator that was shot. This was one of the things I thought it may have been. Man I was happy. I can't say enough about how honest and genuinely nice Vito is! Ask for him, I believe he's the owner. I would definitely recommend this place, and will go back if I have another issue. read more
