My experience with Import Masters was generally awful. I found a Jeep online that I liked and emailed about availability. I was told that it was available, so I scheduled a test drive. After a two hour drive to get to the dealership, not only was the salesman was 20 minutes late, the car that I had driven 2 hours to test drive was not on the lot, but at the service facility. I instead asked to drive another vehicle of the same model, and I made clear to the salesman that I was not interested in a soft top version: that I was only test driving to confirm my interest in the vehicle I had come to test drive originally. During the test drive he tried to convince me to buy the model I was driving by looking up aftermarket parts that I could buy to replace the soft top. He was trying to sell me a car to work on. When we got back to the dealership, I inquired as to when the car that I had come to test would be finished at the repair facility. He indicated that it would be done by the end of the week, so I put an initial payment of $2000 to have the car held so that I could come back and test drive it. I called the next day and he told me that it was all set, so I again scheduled to come down and test drive. Then at 8:30pm he texted me to tell me that the car was no longer available. I was refunded, but as a whole this experience was unacceptable. Two thumbs down. Awful. read more

A very reliable professional garage for European cars. Services will not cost you dealership prices. Work is done fairly promptly for a garage that always seems to be busy. Small jobs like oil change or spark plug /coil prob could be done same day as long as you drop off first thing in the morning. Mine was a bigger job control rods/ball joints and alignment. So it took 2 days. But I think this too could have been done in a day. Delivery of parts to shop delayed the work. I've done all major work at MINHS. The work is always top notch and they definitely remember their customers. And will always make things right if need be. My car is 2016 BMW X3 with 100k+ miles and runs very well 10 years later with maintenance from MINHS. read more

Total Rip-Off Experience MINHS may have solid diagnostic capabilities, but their pricing is outrageous. I was quoted $1,200 for a simple front brake pad replacement on my Jaguar -- a job that another reputable mechanic completed in 45 minutes for just $120. That wasn't the only issue. They also wanted to replace a pressure tube that costs $153 at the dealer, but MINHS charged $394 for the same part -- a 225% markup. On top of that, they quoted $500 in labor (at $200 per hour). Altogether, what should've been a $300-$400 repair was estimated at nearly $3,000. Thankfully, I saw the red flags early, took my car back, and went elsewhere. I suggest others do the same before getting stuck with inflated costs. read more

I have a complicated, out of warranty, relatively high maintenance vehicle (Volvo V90 Cross Country) and these guys, unlike many other shops, have both the equipment and experience to service it to a high standard. They're knowledgeable, thorough, the quality of the work is high, and they're fairly priced. They quoted me higher than a mini dealership for multiple fixes/repairs. They also charged me $180 for a synthetic oil change which is the highest I've ever paid anywhere. MINHS is making me come out of Yelp review retirement! I've been going to Minh's for 2.5 years to get regular service and to pass my NY State inspection. A few weeks ago, I was pulled over for going the speed limit (under 25 mph) on Eastern Parkway because I had loud exhaust, and the cop could, "Hear it." I have a 100% stock S4 for context. What a BS ticket that also required a court summons. I reached out to MINHS to see if they could provide a letter saying my car was legal and passed NY inspection. They were able to provide this, which helped get this court summons dismissed by the judge immediately (side note: both the lawyer that I was assigned and the judge both first asked if I had a BMW; apparently M3s get ticketed for this regularly). If I didn't have the letter, I'm not sure if this would've been dismissed immediately or if I would've been required to garner some type of other proof by wasting more time going to a shop to get an additional check or verification. MINHS went above and beyond, and I appreciate their effort here. In terms of regular maintenance and service, they're fair, explain what's being done and why, and have been the only shop that I know of to offer a 5 year/50,000 mile warranty with their service. read more

Been going to Minhs for prob 12 years. First found them on Google when my brother had given me a GTI and after my first drive it was badly leaking green fluid. Had it towed and the tow driver said it was probably a catastrophic failure. Same day that it was dropped off, I received a phone call from Minhs saying it was just a cracked coolant cap and they put a new cap on free of charge. Couldn't believe their honesty, as I figured it was gonna be a pricey repair. I then had a 2001 bmw 330ci that I brought in for years. Loved that Minhs used OEM parts and were always able to tell me what upcoming service would be required. Never had any breakdowns with that car, even though it was quite old. Minhs was great with the preventive maintenance. Now, with a growing family, I bring my Honda Odyssey minivan there. I wouldn't go to any other shop and have recommended Minhs to many of my friends. Took my 2011 BMW 5 series here for what I would consider routine Mx (brakes) and a coolant system leak. Went in in Dec 2022, was back again in Feb 2023 for the same issues!!!! BRAKES never stopped squealing (they told me they needed to be broken in) it's May. I don't drive all the time (I live in NYC), but I drive enough not to still have squealing brakes. Also, my low coolant light was still coming on and they said that maybe it sprung another leak when they were testing (ok...there could be pinholes, but are we gonna find one each time you test????). Took it back on both issues. I've had to add coolant (maybe a month or 2 ago) and my breaks still squeal.... embarrassingly loud. I now need a tune up and ignition coils...I need a new place, I can't give them any more money. It's a shame as this place was recommended by 3 different people. read more

I brought in my car to repair a broken side mirror. At the time, this was the only visible problem and everything else was working. While fixing my mirror, they apparently discovered that the driver's window had stopped working and was stuck in the down position. The window had worked the day that I dropped the car off, so this seemed like a weird coincidence, but I needed it fixed and so agreed to the $3,000 quote on top of what I had already paid for the mirror. Three weeks passed, and they contacted me to tell me that they had fixed my window, but the sunroof was now stuck open, and would cost another $1K to fix. I paid for the repair, given that I can't have a sunroof stuck open in my car, but I'm pretty baffled as to why they even opened the sunroof, given that it was never flagged on their diagnostic tests, or how two things that were working normally prior to me bringing the car in both suddenly stopped working. When I asked them why the sunroof was opened to begin with, they couldn't even offer a clear explanation. When I picked up my car after a month, I realized that they had left zero gas in my tank and the warning light was flashing. After charging over $4,000 in repairs and taking over a month to repair my car, they could have at least left some gas in it so I wasn't left scrambling frantically trying to get gas before my car stopped. Spent an absurd amount of money at MiNHS only to take my vehicle to different mechanic to have it repaired. 2015 GTI running good but was idling kinda hard with the check engine light coming on intermittently. Wanted the car to run perfectly and figured I'd support a local business, plus it appeared that MiNHS specialized in German & Foreign cars, but $3K lata and a couple trips back & fourth I regretted not taking it to the dealer or another garage. Car ran great for two weeks after getting it back then the same issue returned. Took it back. Car ran good for bout a week then a worse issue began. After speaking with Chris and him saying he doesn't know what's wrong with the car but it'll be around $1,400 to fix. I figured it's time to go elsewhere. Dude said "Volkswagens are expensive cars to drive..." during the conversation. I thought ... "Nah, what's expensive is taking my car to a garage that wasn't able to assess the issue and fix the problem." Max Money for MiNHimum Return. *Shrug * whatcha gona do? Outstanding service all around. I own an older BMW and have been through a few mechanics, nearly all of which left me with more questions than answers. Minhs has been thorough, organized and extremely helpful explaining what needs to be done (now) and what can wait. Their online system is surprisingly useful for referencing the list of urgent / less urgent needs (color coded no less). Each time I've dropped off or picked up my car, the team has spent plenty of time explaining the work and what's up next. Time is valuable, and I'm more than willing to pay a markup for extra care, yet I haven't noticed a significant increase in basic fees compared to my previous mechanics who were either too busy and/or disorganized for decent customer service.
