I had my rear brakes done there and let them know I wasnt in a super hurry because I work from home and have another car to use if needed. The office lady was super nice and accommodating. Even though I let them know there was no rush, they finished the job within 2 days (I wasn't expecting it until the weekend). Normally, I do not write reviews on local organizations I have done business with, but I was very concerned with some things that took place with Baxter in the past year. Firstly, I paid Baxter to do front brakes, then rear brakes in my Ram 1500. I was too busy with other things at the house and just could not get to them. They claimed to install OEM brakes on the truck, but whatever they used are already excessively worn. For example, the original OEM front brakes lasted 70K, these barely have 30K on them and their warning plates are howling. Also, the cost they charged was about 25% more than anyone else in town. I believed they waived the ridiculous 6% credit card fee, which I feel is a cost of business item, not a pass on. Whom carries around wads of cash these days to do vehicle maintenance? I think they ate the credit card fee because the likely "soaked" me on the brake job. So the above gets me to an average rating on them, then this happened. My girlfriend was having problems with a Chevy Trailblazer's brakes, they were grabbing and stopping very short as if they were sticky. Took it to Baxter and they said the vehicle needed ALL new front pads and rotors. The cost was again 25% more than anyone in town and she had to eat the 6% credit card foolishness. After the vehicle was returned the brakes were STILL sticking badly. Another local shop looked at it and noticed the brake system had significantly less brake fluid in it than was required. When this was rectified and the system bled, the brakes were properly functioning. I believe that Baxter "diagnosed" the brake issue with little to no care and did the most expensive and unnecessary repair humanly possible. If they would have test driven the vehicle afterwards, their careless diagnosis would have been obvious to them. This was a HUGE fail on Baxter's part. I have read that they are not very receptive to criticism and I do not believe I will waste my time in conflict resolution with them, we will just avoid them in the future. read more

Baxter Tire and Auto at 2904C Mountain Road was okay to deal with overall, but I was disappointed that they did not share all the costs upfront. When discussing pricing, I was not informed about the fee for tire disposal or the 3% credit card processing fee. Those charges added an unexpected $56 to my bill. This is important information that should be disclosed before the work is done so customers can make an informed choice--like paying cash or disposing of the tires ourselves at the dump. Transparency in pricing would go a long way toward improving the customer experience. read more

Between me dropping it off and getting the call that my car was ready, it took them just over 3 hours. The service and the team were fantastic and highly professional. Took my Jeep Wrangler in on July 1st to have the air conditioning coil replaced after a previous service and replacement of another part was not the problem. The manager Jeff had quit and John Baxter was working. I was told my Jeff previously it would be ready by Wednesday. Thursday was the 4th of July and he promised me after speaking to the mechanic that he could have it ready telling me it was a Labor intense job. I called on Wednesday John Baxter said it wasn't ready and call back on Friday. I called back on Friday. It wasn't ready. John Baxter was irritated and agitated telling me how difficult of a job it was telling me how hot it was outside telling me that they were shorthanded. He said it should be ready on Saturday to call. They're open till two. Of course I called and by that time he was furious. It was after 2pm. My Jeep was not ready. He proceeds to tell me how hard of a job it was and then hung up on me. I finally picked up my jeep Monday morning paid the large bill of over $1800. John Baxter never mentioned to me any problems that he ran into. When I got on my jeep, I turned on the air conditioning and it worked fine. Then turned on my radio, and it was all static at that point. I looked down to my manual parking break, and the brush plate was missing and jammed down and broke off inside the mechanism. I went back inside and said John the brush plate is broken off and my radio doesn't work. He simply looked at me and said I'll order the parts. On Wednesday, I called to check on the parts and then he revealed to me that when he was repairing the air conditioning unit and had the dash apart, he had broken the antenna that was soldered on the back of my Radio and took the console apart, evidently broke off the brush plate. I asked him why he didn't tell me this when I picked up my Jeep? He never answered. My point is he failed to tell me this when I picked up my jeep and paid him. Almost 2 weeks have gone by and I still have no parts. My radio is broke and the brush plate. I went to the dealer and got a quote on the brush plate finding out that it's attached to the console and it comes in one piece. My radio has been discontinued, and I found the comparable model and got estimates and part numbers for everything that John Baxter broke. I called him up with the information and he refused to pay. Now the only recourse I have is to go to small claims court to have the repairs done. I used to recommend small businesses and I've always shopped locally but what I can tell you is that John Baxter is the most dishonest businessman I've ever met he does not stand behind his work, and he provides lip service . I believe years ago that he ran a good business when things were good. There must be a reason why everyone is quitting. Shame on you John Baxter for lies and deceit to your customer. Had my tires plugged here twice. Service was good. Unfortunately, the second time I was told I had a leak. Surprised, because my car had been sitting on a brand new driveway for weeks with no leaks, I wanted no issues with getting to work, so I fell for it, and another 600.00 later, I left, and low and behold, now I had a leak! I dropped it off again, angry, they said they immediately noticed the issue. I picked it up the next day. It's been weeks and weeks now, and I just continue to ride around with a leak I never had in the first place. Out 600.00 and now I suffer a leak I never had. At the end of the day, get a tire plugged, but other than that, I would never go to Baxter's again. I feel scammed for an unnecessary recommendation. read more

I have always had great service from Jeff at Baxter's over the years! Recently I went there near the end of the day with a flat tire that was just changed and my spare on my car. Jeff didn't hesitate to help me personally by checking the tire to see if it could be repaired, unfortunately it couldn't be fixed. The next day he had a new tire on the rim waiting for me, so it could be put on my SUV when I got there. It is so great to know when you have a problem there is a friendly person to help! Horrible experience. I took my car there to get my exhaust pipe replaced and they didn't to put the CO2 sensor back in my car correctly. A couple of weeks later I noticed my car began loosing power and it smelled like gasoline on the inside. I took it to another mechanic to get it looked at and that's when I found out that they didn't put the CO2 sensors in right which caused it to melt on the Catalyst converter and could have potentially caught my car on fire. I had two mechanic opinions that said that the problem was down to the engine. I can no longer use my car after paying over 400 dollars for a simple replacement. I definitely would not recommend to anybody. read more

I do most of my own auto repair but when it goes beyond my capabilities (or I am feeling lazy) I take all of my cars to Baxters. I have used many other service shops in the Pasadena area and Baxters is the only one I have found to be reasonably priced, efficient and reliable. What I like most is that if something isn't broken they tell you. Their opinion on what is a real issue that needs to be addressed or something that is a minor annoyance can be trusted. I am a very picky consumer, there aren't many businesses I trust but Baxter has won my respect for being honest, forthcoming and reasonably priced. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

I recently took my Chevy 2500 truck to be serviced as I was taking our travel trailer to Gulf Shores Alabama. I asked them to check all the fluids and serpentine belt. Awhile later they came out and asked if I was taking a long trip in the future and I replied yes. I was told that it would need a new power steering oil cooler and new cooler lines if we were taking a long trip. I agreed and picked the truck up the next day and paid the bill of 975.00. On our way back to Maryland, we heard a loud noise in the engine then the power steering gave out, then the brakes. We were going about 65 MPH when this happened AND towing a trailer. Luckily there was a rest area 1 mile away, my husband miraculously got us there without harm to us or others! My husband opened the hood and found power steering fluid everywhere, he then observed that the power steering line to the to the new oil cooler had blown off. So the clamp was not tightened properly to prevent this from happening. Serious injury could have occurred to us or others. Thankfully my husband knew what to do. When we arrived home, my husband call Baxter to let them know what had happened, and the Manager Austin said "What do you want me to do about it, it sounds like a clamp issue". No Duh, it was a clamp issue due to their negligence. We have been having our vehicle service there for more than 15 years and to be treated like it was nothing and it didn't matter made me decide that we will no long be using them! read more

So I'm not much of a complainer but, I am when I pay top dollar and get a cut rate service. I bought a new set of tires from Baxter Tire in Pasadena for my 2013 Passat and is the first set of new since I bought it brand new. Immediately the front left tire was leaking and took it back to be fixed. Leaked again and took it back again they said it should be fixed. Leaked again, took it back to get an oil change and tire rotation. Of course I asked if they fix the tire again. I got it back, no tire rotation and the front in wobbled like I hit an IED and they said I was crazy no leak. My wife kept driving it and adding air because who has the time to keep taking their car to a bunch of crack heads to finally do a job correctly. So I called the manager this morning and explained my frustrations and the issues. He said bring it in and he will take care of it. I get the car back this afternoon and they just rotatesd the front tire with the back tire and squirted silicone on the bead instead of swapping out the defective tire. Get this smoke he tried to blow up my skirt "tires are rotated and if it keeps leaking you will need to change the rim due to corrosion". Guess what Chief, your the first person to touch my perfect rims and the last I checked a tire rotation includes moving both front tires to the back. Look at the pictures all the break dust on my rims is on the right side and none on the front. Avoid this place like the plague.....They will never touch my car again and it's a shame because it's the second set of tires I have bought from them including oil changes and vehicle inspections. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I would never treat one of my customers like this and this shop is forever on the naughty list. read more

I've been going to Baxter for years after a coworker recommended them. I've always had excellent service for a fair price. They always explain everything well and I feel comfortable with them. They are always competitive on their tires. Even when they are extremely busy they fit me in. I came in an hour before closing the other day and they were able to test my charging system within minutes after I limped my car there after getting my battery jumped. This was after they first didn't think they would be able to fit me in, but they helped me out after all. THAT is customer service! read more

I used to love Baxters, unfortunately now there is no customer service etiquette anymore. My issue is no follow up they say they will call and they don't. Little parts don't get put back on your car even when requested to have them put back on after gone missing from the previous tire rotation. I called and they took care of it, but still I shouldn't have to be the one reminding them. I spoke about how customer service has changed after departure of previous employee left and all they did was bash the guy. Keep your personal issues to yourself that is bad business to talk about company issues to customers and no coronavirus did not stop a follow up call maybe parts coming in but not picking up a phone! I had a perplexing electrical problem with my truck that could not be figured out. I had been a customer of Baxter's for oil and filter changes but not for auto work. The auto technicians at Baxter's figured out that a windshield wiper motor continued to run when my engine was off. Paul and Jeff kept me updated on my vehicle and did not attempt to charge me for a protracted electrical diagnosis and repair. I recommend Baxter's for their honesty and workmanship. read more

In my experience, the guys have been more than honest about what is going on with our cars and how long they can last until they need to be fixed. I have never felt bamboozled by them and their work has always held up with no issues. If honesty and good work trump price than this is your place. I am livid. This is a review for a friend, business partner and all around good guy! Mike Stivers, a friend/brother of mine brought his truck in to have new tires and oil change done... told him he was crazy to pay as much as he did. Then! A few days later his check engine light comes on, the next day his CHEVY PICKUP IS SPITTTTTTTTING OUT oil for his exhaust on a gas truck! Then... we check oil and it's 3" PAST THE MAX DIP STICK LINE!!!!! Here comes to worst part... he brings truck back, they check oil and agree it's high and say they need to change 2 plugs and CLEAN OUT THE CONVERTOR BOX for the nice low price of $1,300.00!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sent mike to a local shop who I am friends with and have used mannnny times. In 10 mins of checking oil and running diagnostics it needed a tune up and new plugs. ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL CAUSED BY BAXTER!!!!!! What a pathetic scummy move! If they do not pay for the tune up, new oil change I will have my lawyer file suit in 10 days and will publicize this all over Anne Arundel County county. read more

Baxter Tire and Auto took five days to run a basic computer diagnostic, failed to do any of the follow-up work the error code suggested, managed to drain my battery in the the process, charged me out the wazoo for the experience, and held my car hostage until I forked over. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! THEY WANT TO RIP YOU OFF!!! Paul the manager "helped" us. My husband (who knows a substantial amount about car repairs but doesn't have all the tools to do certain repairs) and I dropped my car off here. We wanted to know 2 things: 1. What is the rubbing noise when we turn the wheel and 2. What is the diagnostic computer reading for the engine light being on. They sort of answered #2 but their diagnostics could not read the code on my car - there is probably a bad connection - FINE - but MOST importantly they did not answer the bigger question #1 - What is the NOISE when the wheel is turned!!!!!!!!!! Instead of answering this question they decided they were going to find every other little thing "wrong" with the car - when - i DID NOT EVEN ask for these other things to be looked at!!! So here is what they said needed to be fixed: 1. New tie rods and an alignment $940 - I just got a wheel alignment done down the road last week - car feels great!! 2. Leaking gasket $425 - so what - we know this and didn't ask for this to be looked at. 3. Sway bar loose $185 - again we know this and didn't ask. 4. Rear brake pads 1/2 down (ONLY 1/2 DOWN) & ROTORS $400 - why would anyone replace 1/2 good brake pads - they are STILL good!! and not only that why would we need ROTORS if the pads are still good!!!!!!!!!! RIP OFF!!!!!! 4. Valve cover gasket $425. Grand RIP OFF total = $2240!! I still had to pay the diagnostic fee without even knowing the code was at the "generosity" of Paul - the manager - who gave me off a small discount off of that fee. read more

just got back from this place FOR THE LAST TIME... charged me 242.00 for just the labor to change 4 spark plugs..when asked about the charge they said it took 1 1/2 hours @ 97.00 per hour....#1 how does THAT take 1 1/2 hous #2 1 1/2 hours @ 97.00 per hour does not (no mater how many times you add it) = 242.00 done for life they cant even tighten a lug nut for me anymore,,,LIVE AND LEARN read more

i had an appointment with Baxter's Tire, took off work and when I got there they said it is to hot so everyone went home! What? I had an appointment!!' Is that anyway to run a business?? unbelievably horrible. i went to baxters for a simple check on my car, instead of going to my usual family mechanic, because i thought it would be quick and easy. i had a leak coming from under my car so i thought my oil was leaking from the drain plug or maybe the transmission pan was leaking fluid. i took it to baxters and the man told me that i not only was i leaking oil and transmission fluid, but that "my lower intake manifold was cracked and leaking and is a serious problem that needs to be fixed immediately" the total the man gave me to fix everything was almost $1600. i left there and took it to my family mechanic and he told me all he had to do was put in a new drain plug and tighten the bolts on the transmission pan. he said that he pressure checked my lower intake manifold, looked it over and didnt see any signs of it being cracked or leaking anywhere. he told me that baxters was trying to rip me off. i was pissed. ended up costing me $100, and that was only because he took a lot of time checking and cleaning the manifold. my car has been fine since, no leaks at all. so $1600 went to $100. never going to baxters again..they are one of those shops trying to rip people off. i bet they dont even put in a new oil filter when they change your oil either. never going there..terrible!! absolutely terrible!!highly advise to not go there. and if you go to any shop and they tell u sometihng is wrong with your car, just simply say,"show me"!! read more
