    Oil line leaking
    Jenn S.

I used The Lube center in Gambrills for years for all 4 of my vehicles. I used them since they opened their doors. They were always great until the last year. . Over the last year I noticed that all the old managers and service techs were gone and replaced with inexperienced and rude workers. The customer service aspect had shown a steady decline over the last year. The noticeable decline in customer service, and technical experience the last few years was a lot - however they are still close and my primary goal is for a quick oil change and fluids checks for my vehicles when needed. I took two of our vehicles this past weekend on the Thursday before the Memorial Day holiday, as the family and I were headed to ocean City maryland for a long weekend. Upon waiting to get service - me on one vehicle and my spouse in the other - I specifically ask them to look over the older suv as we don't drive it much and the miles are no where close to needing a full change since the last pick change they did. They confirmed that but said the plug was leaking and they would need to do a full change. No problem. I asked repeatedly - is it safe to drive and will it be ok to drive now with the new plug. Should our trip be ok with no leaks. The full report was that the new plug and filter were great and no more leaks anywhere . Again I mentioned the road trip and told them based on the age of the 2001 suv - if it's not road worthy let me know now so we don't try to make the trip and have any issues. They assured us - several times and said there were no leaks. Based on this information. We left straight from the Lube Center to hit the road. Both vehicle It's a 2.5 hour drive but being rush hour and a holiday weekend the drive took about 3 hrs. As we pulled into OC - the low oil light started flashing. We thought there was no way. We just had it changed. Literally 3 hours prior and they assured us it was good. With the truck running we look under the vehicle - on flat ground - the oil was pouring out. I have video but can't upload it. We called AAA and found a place to have it serviced and looked at. Upon thier inspection the plug was never leaking. The leak was from the oil line and had they done the pressure test correctly at the Lube Center it would have been identified fully. They never checked the lights or tires either. They should have never allowed us to take the vehicle on a known road trip without telling us the line was leaking. It was gushing oil. It would have been ok to say they don't fix oil lines but to let older people with two dogs risk being on the side of the road with a blown motor was negligent on their part. I called Corp who has yet to return my call directly. The service manager called and wanted to blame everything but his piss pour services. When I to the manager who said the problem "must have happened after we left". However the repair shop and my trusted mechanics at home all agree that the oil line corrosion is not a thing that just magically appears and there was clear signs on the line that it was rusted and leaking before the trip and before the timing of the oil change at the line center. Their manager refused to refund the 137.00 for that vehicle's oil change at the lube center. I have since put in a complaint withy credit card to reverse payment. The sad part is - I had full services on my other vehicle that same day - totaling 360 dollars all in. And that I am ok with. We have two other vehicles we have always taken there as well and they know that too. We will take out business elsewhere and recommend others do the same until the corp office and this location better train their managers and employees in both customer service and satisfaction and expertise in the oil changing business- understanding that 1. They in a service industry 2. Their techs are not experienced and don't hold the basis knowledge to report problems on a vehicle that their customers rely on. I rarely return or complain to a company but in this case I think it was just and the refund requested was reasonable. They left us stranded in OC without our normal mechanics amd having to pay tourist pricing to get the vehicle fully repaired. While it would have still cost something to repair those repairs could have waited and we could have taken a different vehicle. This discussion was up front and well discussed with the manager on duty and the service tech. We would have been the full oil change price in addition to the 2000 dollars we had to spend to get the vehicle back home. it all could have been avoided had the business done the minimum required in their line of business. Please use another facility so you aren't stranded. In addition, the lack of any customer service and refusing to honor their warranties - my request to refund 137 and their refusal to make things right - lost them life long business for all of vehicles and all of extended family business.

So far, so good. I had to wait an hour to be seen, and my service took a little over an hour, but that is the only negative thing I have to say. Yes, they could move faster, but their service was top-notch. I'm soo mad at myself for deleting the note I made with my tech's name and the manager on duty. These young men were excellent, especially the manager. I saw him go from one car to the next, helping each tech that needed assistance always respectfully and professionally. I will be back; hopefully, next time, don't have to wait that long

I never imagined myself writing a glowing review for a car care place, but here I am! ;) From the time I drove in to the time I drove out, I was totally impressed by everything. The staff members were exceptionally polite and also very efficient. I've never seen the underside of a car while someone was working under it, but there it was on a monitor just outside the driver's window. I like that they provide the service while you sit in your car - this will be a life-saver for anyone with kids! I plan to take my grandkids with me next time, just so they can enjoy the experience. The price is reasonable, especially considering that they don't make you sit in a dingy, hot or cold waiting room. They even brought me some fresh, hot coffee with flavored creamer in it. One tip: I went on a weekday morning around 9 a.m. and I was the only customer. The supervisor told me that I definitely chose a good time, because on some days - weekends especially - there can be a line of cars snaking out through the parking lot.

Laurie seemed to have no record of the conversation or the promotion she herself had mentioned previously. Instead of accountability or a solution, I was met with confusion and dismissiveness--especially frustrating because I had already waited a month to have this appointment. What made the experience even worse was seeing other customers ahead of me receive excellent, attentive service, while I was treated with what felt like incompetence and indifference. Basic professionalism--such as documenting appointments, promotions, and agreed-upon services--was completely missing. I left without getting my car serviced, extremely disappointed and frustrated. This experience was a complete waste of time, and I cannot recommend this location based on the service I received.

Goss quoted me $993 to replace what they claimed was a bad headlight assembly. They listed the part alone at $619. Before approving anything, I asked two very standard, very basic questions: 1. "What is the part number for this $619 headlight assembly?" Melissa told me, "Unfortunately we don't get that until the part arrives." This makes no sense. A shop cannot order a part without knowing the part number first. Big red flag. 2. "How much is the markup on that part?" Melissa said, "Unfortunately I don't have access to that information." Again -- impossible. Every shop sees cost vs retail in their system. It's how parts are priced. Another big red flag. Both responses were evasive and dishonest, and no reputable shop would answer those two questions that way. I took the car to another mechanic (Ron at the Mobil station on 301) for a second opinion. He found the REAL issue was simply a melted connector--extremely common with older cars. He replaced the connector and bulb for $113 and everything works fine now. I saw the owner of Goss respond to another negative review by comparing Goss to a steakhouse and talking about their "warranty." Warranties and steaks have nothing to do with overpricing and refusing to disclose basic information like part numbers and markup -- information every legitimate auto shop can provide instantly. I'm fine with paying steakhouse prices if that's what I ordered, but not if the restaurant can't even tell me what cut of meat they're serving! Bottom line: --Goss tried to sell me a $993 repair that wasn't necessary --Goss refused to disclose part number or markup when directly asked --Another shop fixed the real issue for $113 The upselling is off-putting, but the lack of transparency around parts is inexcusable. We will not be returning, and I'd strongly recommend getting a second opinion before approving any work here.

So, here we go again.........yet ANOTHER great experience here!…read more Let me back up. I should have wrote this review a long time ago. About almost a year ago, I had my truck towed here. It was locked up so to speak. The techs (Tim, and manager Mike) started trouble shooting and told me I DEFINATLEY had two bad lifters. I'm no dummy to autos and I had suspected this myself. (after more research, this engine had a design flaw from the factory, unfortunately I was out of warrenty) Let me say also, this wasn't a swindle deal, I never told them what I suspected. After talking to them a bit, I found out that to fix just one lifter was going to be about $1500. Mostly because the engine heads had to be completely removed. Also, the likely hood that only one or two were bad was slim and none. To repair all the lifters (and still have design flaw) would have been in the neighborhood of like $4000. Whoa! This was due to all the labor that it would take, as well as parts. (btw, I did get a couple more estimates, and they were all in the same price range). So, Mike calls me the next day and suggests that I get a new, reconditioned engine which would be just like brand new PLUS have a full 3 yr 100000 mile warrenty AND have design flaw fixed. This would obviously be more money, but only by a few thousand. I know, it's alot! But why spend $4 grand and ONLY have new lifters when I could have a whole new engine. Made sense to me, so I gave the go ahead. The whole duration, from ordering the new engine to instalation completion, was 1 week. I thought this was pretty quick! When I picked it up, they informed me that the new engine was showing pretty low oil pressure, not where they wanted to see it. To my surprise they had already talked to the engine dealer and had a ticket claim number started. The dealer wanted me to drive it and let it break in to see if this fixed the problem So we did that. Long story short, the problem never corrected no matter what they (the dealer) had us do, so Mike told them to give me a new engine. Of course the dealer didn't want to, but Mike stood his ground for me and sure enough, they consented. He said what's right is right, and he would make it that way even if he had to never use them again. Right on! So, after another week, the next engine was in and doing great! The workmanship was top notch, and everyone there was courteous, friendly, and very knowledgeable. These guys know what they are talking about. (BTW, they made the engine dealer pay for my rental too!) Now, just last week, I needed a new battery and called em up. Not only did they have one in stock, but at a VERY fair price with installation too! So, Mid-Atlantic Auto Repair is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me. Again, Mike the manager, Tim the shop forman, and Mark the service writer/assistant manager are all stand up guys who give their all. While they might not be the LOWEST price out there, they definatley deliver quality work, with a smooth experience. Dustin "Red" Nisewarner

After several returns, they finally resolved it. Fast forward several months later, against my better judgment, I decided to bring in my other vehicle, my GMC for 2 issues: 1) replacing a cracked left side mirror, and 2) diagnosing and fixing the check engine light. They had my car for a week, during which I had to rent a vehicle. On September 10th, I got a call that my car was ready. I paid the bill over the phone, dropped off the rental, and my wife drove me to pick up my "repaired" car after hours. To my disappointment, the moment I started the car, the check engine light was still on. I thought maybe the system just needed to reset, so I drove it home, went to gym--but the light never went off. My question is: why return a car to a customer when the main issue hasn't been fixed? Now I'm left wasting more of my time either bringing the car back again or paying another shop to finally address the problem.
