These guys are straight shooters - they give you multiple options, do good work on time, and don't tack on crazy labor charges.

So, here we go again.........yet ANOTHER great experience here!…read more Let me back up. I should have wrote this review a long time ago. About almost a year ago, I had my truck towed here. It was locked up so to speak. The techs (Tim, and manager Mike) started trouble shooting and told me I DEFINATLEY had two bad lifters. I'm no dummy to autos and I had suspected this myself. (after more research, this engine had a design flaw from the factory, unfortunately I was out of warrenty) Let me say also, this wasn't a swindle deal, I never told them what I suspected. After talking to them a bit, I found out that to fix just one lifter was going to be about $1500. Mostly because the engine heads had to be completely removed. Also, the likely hood that only one or two were bad was slim and none. To repair all the lifters (and still have design flaw) would have been in the neighborhood of like $4000. Whoa! This was due to all the labor that it would take, as well as parts. (btw, I did get a couple more estimates, and they were all in the same price range). So, Mike calls me the next day and suggests that I get a new, reconditioned engine which would be just like brand new PLUS have a full 3 yr 100000 mile warrenty AND have design flaw fixed. This would obviously be more money, but only by a few thousand. I know, it's alot! But why spend $4 grand and ONLY have new lifters when I could have a whole new engine. Made sense to me, so I gave the go ahead. The whole duration, from ordering the new engine to instalation completion, was 1 week. I thought this was pretty quick! When I picked it up, they informed me that the new engine was showing pretty low oil pressure, not where they wanted to see it. To my surprise they had already talked to the engine dealer and had a ticket claim number started. The dealer wanted me to drive it and let it break in to see if this fixed the problem So we did that. Long story short, the problem never corrected no matter what they (the dealer) had us do, so Mike told them to give me a new engine. Of course the dealer didn't want to, but Mike stood his ground for me and sure enough, they consented. He said what's right is right, and he would make it that way even if he had to never use them again. Right on! So, after another week, the next engine was in and doing great! The workmanship was top notch, and everyone there was courteous, friendly, and very knowledgeable. These guys know what they are talking about. (BTW, they made the engine dealer pay for my rental too!) Now, just last week, I needed a new battery and called em up. Not only did they have one in stock, but at a VERY fair price with installation too! So, Mid-Atlantic Auto Repair is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me. Again, Mike the manager, Tim the shop forman, and Mark the service writer/assistant manager are all stand up guys who give their all. While they might not be the LOWEST price out there, they definatley deliver quality work, with a smooth experience. Dustin "Red" Nisewarner

I've now had 2 disappointing experiences with this shop. The first time was with my BMW, where I…read morehad to bring it back multiple times because a warning light kept coming on. After several returns, they finally resolved it. Fast forward several months later, against my better judgment, I decided to bring in my other vehicle, my GMC for 2 issues: 1) replacing a cracked left side mirror, and 2) diagnosing and fixing the check engine light. They had my car for a week, during which I had to rent a vehicle. On September 10th, I got a call that my car was ready. I paid the bill over the phone, dropped off the rental, and my wife drove me to pick up my "repaired" car after hours. To my disappointment, the moment I started the car, the check engine light was still on. I thought maybe the system just needed to reset, so I drove it home, went to gym--but the light never went off. My question is: why return a car to a customer when the main issue hasn't been fixed? Now I'm left wasting more of my time either bringing the car back again or paying another shop to finally address the problem.

I don't like to pay for replacement parts from the dealer (which appears to be the rule in this area of Maryland) but in this case it worked to my benefit. As for inspections, I have heard the same story about just about every repair shop. While I appreciate the level of scrutiny, it appears like a one time chance to obtain a lot of work. Coming from a neighboring state , I was naive as far as the costs and the 30 day requirement for findings to be resolved. A lesson learned the hard way. I have found the Walt Eger team to be responsive to my needs and to provide timely informative updates.

I came here 2 years ago, had the best experience.everyone was so polite!…read more this year I came back I had gave them some time so I call them 3 days later to see if I am cover by my warranty to get my car fixed and I didn't catch her name but ask for updates with my car she got really smart and said " what do you want that was very rude! James is at the front desk never called or gave me any updates, my car was there for weeks, He saying that my warranty should have called me but my car IS AT YALL SHOP, y'all have the details but James act like he don't understand things and really don't know how to talk to customers he is very rude ! I couldn't get it fix so I wanted it back to my house, So I TOLD THEM A DAY BEFORE that the tow truck is coming in the morning, I called James and I told him is my car ready and clear for the tow truck to get it and he said YES! So they waste the tow truck money and time because they throw Snow and and it freeze into ice on me car and around it and I had to call another one and I gave them some time told them to call me when I they are done so I can get another tow truck! So I called back James was like we been clear the ice off your car and I told him why u didn't say another, THEN HE JUST START LAUGHING THEN THEY THOUGHT I WOULD NOT KNOW BUT IS A BIG DENT IN THE BACK OF MY CAR THAT THEY DAMAGE! OVERALL BAD EXPERIENCES, JAMES JUST KEEP LAUGHING MAKING ME UNCOMFORTABLE AND I TALK TO THE MANGERS ROB AND HE JUST LAUGHING AND PLAYING AROUND JUST A BUNCH OF UNPROFESSIONAL CHILDISH PEOPLE DIDN'T GET APOLOGY OR ANYTHING! That's bad for business and will lose people, just learn how to be nice and professional everything should not be a joke!

My wife and I have taken both of our cars to Goss in Crofton for years. Thousands spent. Always…read moretrusted them. But after our last experience, we'll never be back. Goss quoted me $993 to replace what they claimed was a bad headlight assembly. They listed the part alone at $619. Before approving anything, I asked two very standard, very basic questions: 1. "What is the part number for this $619 headlight assembly?" Melissa told me, "Unfortunately we don't get that until the part arrives." This makes no sense. A shop cannot order a part without knowing the part number first. Big red flag. 2. "How much is the markup on that part?" Melissa said, "Unfortunately I don't have access to that information." Again -- impossible. Every shop sees cost vs retail in their system. It's how parts are priced. Another big red flag. Both responses were evasive and dishonest, and no reputable shop would answer those two questions that way. I took the car to another mechanic (Ron at the Mobil station on 301) for a second opinion. He found the REAL issue was simply a melted connector--extremely common with older cars. He replaced the connector and bulb for $113 and everything works fine now. I saw the owner of Goss respond to another negative review by comparing Goss to a steakhouse and talking about their "warranty." Warranties and steaks have nothing to do with overpricing and refusing to disclose basic information like part numbers and markup -- information every legitimate auto shop can provide instantly. I'm fine with paying steakhouse prices if that's what I ordered, but not if the restaurant can't even tell me what cut of meat they're serving! Bottom line: --Goss tried to sell me a $993 repair that wasn't necessary --Goss refused to disclose part number or markup when directly asked --Another shop fixed the real issue for $113 The upselling is off-putting, but the lack of transparency around parts is inexcusable. We will not be returning, and I'd strongly recommend getting a second opinion before approving any work here.

I thought everything was noted and confirmed for my 8:00 AM appointment. When I arrived, I waited until 8:20 before being called, only to be told that my tires would now have to be ordered. Laurie seemed to have no record of the conversation or the promotion she herself had mentioned previously. Instead of accountability or a solution, I was met with confusion and dismissiveness--especially frustrating because I had already waited a month to have this appointment. What made the experience even worse was seeing other customers ahead of me receive excellent, attentive service, while I was treated with what felt like incompetence and indifference. Basic professionalism--such as documenting appointments, promotions, and agreed-upon services--was completely missing. I left without getting my car serviced, extremely disappointed and frustrated. This experience was a complete waste of time, and I cannot recommend this location based on the service I received.
