I was scheduled to come in at 1:30 for an oil change, but was running 10 minutes late. I called to give them a heads up and they told me they were pushing my appointment back to 2:00. I shrugged it off, it was my fault for running late. I got to the desk at 1:40 got checked in and handed over my keys knowing I'd have to wait until 2. The guy who checked me in was extremely kind and helpful. My frustration comes from my wait time. My vehicle did not get taken back until 2:30 . I sat for 50 minutes because they were "so backed up." I understand things can take some time, but I would have preferred some upfront honesty about how far behind they had gotten. I would have come back another day. They were not done with my car until 3:15. The man at the desk then told me my rear break pads needed to be replaced. I told him I didn't want them. He pressed on about it. I told him I didn't have the money for it, then he tried to sell me on their finance system. Once I was done checking out he backtracked on his statement and said my breaks could be good until my next oil change "it's hard to say." This place is a scam and clearly I should have checked the Yelp reviews. Almost 2 hours spent, getting a $57 oil change (and that was with a $15 off coupon!). Ridiculous.

if you notice the TPMS is optional. They make it seem as if it's not. They tried to charge me $506.00 for this.

***************************DO NOT GO HERE 0 STARS************************ I came here for new tires. The tires I purchased were on sale for 61.99. I got 4 tires (thats 247.96). Initially the guy tries to get me to sign a quote without showing me the price. When I ask about the price he prints out a whole new sheet that has the quoted price at the bottom for $506.00 and some change. So i'm thinking to myself i'm paying 253.00 for a fews part and the labor? I'm paying more for them to service the vehicle then I am for the tires? That don't sound right. So I go back to the counter to kind of get a breakdown of what I was paying for. When I asked him about the price he was very rude, and he broke down very quickly what I was paying for and then mumble some stuff, and said so when you add it all up it comes out to 506.00 and some change. He didn't show me anything. His response was rapid fire, and mumbled. He knew I wasn't understanding, but I was getting upset so I just went back to the waiting area and got online to the Mr Tire website. Note: The guy next to him was taking calls on the phone, and assisting people with questions. Several times he looked to the guy who was helping me for assistance when it came to prices with services, and the man helping me would say things like " Just tell them it'll be $90.00" the guy would then get back on the phone and say " it'll be $90.00 to $100.00" Like don't they have set prices? I went back to the waiting area and chose my tires and went through the prompt to schedule and appointment for the same exact services I was getting it told me it would cost 391.88 which was still high but it wasn't $506.00 and some change. So I went back to the guy with what I found on the website and asked him what the difference was between what they were doing, and what it says i should pay online. He gets an attitude and says I ALREADY TOLD YOU 3 TIMES ALREADY!! He then takes my phone and starts mumbling to himself, and without answering my question he says... okay 410.00 and some change. Really? This place is super shady. At one point I went outside and walked down to where my car was being serviced, and guess who comes outside at that very moment to see. The same guy who was helping me. He tried to play it off as if he was looking at a tag, but the cars he was near were there when I pulled up, and not the persons who he was helping when I walked out. I forgot to mention that he kept asking me if I wanted an alignment check done, and I said no because I didn't want to extra charge, but my receipt says that it comes as a part of the standard install package. I even got the paper from when it was done, though no one ever explained it to me or even acknowledged it. I went to NTB, and they would've charged me $363.88 to do everything that they were trying to charge me $506.00 for, and that was with tires that cost 67.99 which was 24 dollars more then the tires I got ($6.00 per tire). After 2.5 Hours of horrible customer service I ended up paying 428.19, but luckily got $20.00 for checking in on Yelp so $408.19 247.96 for the tires. 180.26 for the rest. which would've initially been 247.96 for the tires, and 258.04 for the rest if I had to pay the iniital 506.00 This is not the first time I have used Mr Tire, but this is the first time I have ever felt ripped off. The customer service here is horrible, and they just seem to charge what they want. If you don't ask questions they will screw you over. I got 100.00 taken off of my bill for just asking a question. The guy refused to explain anything to me, and I'm still positive that I overpaid. My last set of 4 tires were more expensive and I didn't pay nearly as much even with getting the hazard insurance on them, and they didn't even offer it to me this time around. I asked what the price would be and was told 12.99 per tire, but I wasn't about to give them anymore money. In the famous words of Chris Tucker in Friday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-lv8kyYrqQ I WILL NEVER EVER... EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER, COME BACK HERE. And I will be taking my car to another mechanic just to check that they actually installed my TPMS kits. I never felt so violated thinking about what they could be in there doing to my car. If the guys at the counter are shady. I can only imagine what the mechanics would do to boost the bill.

I made my appointment online for 10am on a Saturday for an oil change, tire rotation and wiper blades. I arrived at 10, but I didn't finish the check in process until 10:30am. Jason and Scott were at the front desk and Jason assisted me. He was fairly pleasant and tried to get me a good deal. My estimate came to $67 for the aforementioned services with the Drive Time card, which is supposed to save you approximately $10 on services. My car was taken into the bay close to 11:00am. I waited in the waiting area, which had free WiFi, free coffee and a flat screen tv which was showing CNN. At about 11:45am, a guy came over talking really fast about some brakes and a brake flush that I needed. He quoted more than $400. I was like no thanks. I'll do some research. I don't like it when people try to up sell me especially when they are talking super fast. I decided to ask for clarification about the price. After doing so, I still opted to shop around. I left the shop around 12:40. Whew! I couldn't believe how long it took for the service. Overall, their service is fine and they will price match if you can find the price cheaper somewhere else.

So, here we go again.........yet ANOTHER great experience here!…read more Let me back up. I should have wrote this review a long time ago. About almost a year ago, I had my truck towed here. It was locked up so to speak. The techs (Tim, and manager Mike) started trouble shooting and told me I DEFINATLEY had two bad lifters. I'm no dummy to autos and I had suspected this myself. (after more research, this engine had a design flaw from the factory, unfortunately I was out of warrenty) Let me say also, this wasn't a swindle deal, I never told them what I suspected. After talking to them a bit, I found out that to fix just one lifter was going to be about $1500. Mostly because the engine heads had to be completely removed. Also, the likely hood that only one or two were bad was slim and none. To repair all the lifters (and still have design flaw) would have been in the neighborhood of like $4000. Whoa! This was due to all the labor that it would take, as well as parts. (btw, I did get a couple more estimates, and they were all in the same price range). So, Mike calls me the next day and suggests that I get a new, reconditioned engine which would be just like brand new PLUS have a full 3 yr 100000 mile warrenty AND have design flaw fixed. This would obviously be more money, but only by a few thousand. I know, it's alot! But why spend $4 grand and ONLY have new lifters when I could have a whole new engine. Made sense to me, so I gave the go ahead. The whole duration, from ordering the new engine to instalation completion, was 1 week. I thought this was pretty quick! When I picked it up, they informed me that the new engine was showing pretty low oil pressure, not where they wanted to see it. To my surprise they had already talked to the engine dealer and had a ticket claim number started. The dealer wanted me to drive it and let it break in to see if this fixed the problem So we did that. Long story short, the problem never corrected no matter what they (the dealer) had us do, so Mike told them to give me a new engine. Of course the dealer didn't want to, but Mike stood his ground for me and sure enough, they consented. He said what's right is right, and he would make it that way even if he had to never use them again. Right on! So, after another week, the next engine was in and doing great! The workmanship was top notch, and everyone there was courteous, friendly, and very knowledgeable. These guys know what they are talking about. (BTW, they made the engine dealer pay for my rental too!) Now, just last week, I needed a new battery and called em up. Not only did they have one in stock, but at a VERY fair price with installation too! So, Mid-Atlantic Auto Repair is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me. Again, Mike the manager, Tim the shop forman, and Mark the service writer/assistant manager are all stand up guys who give their all. While they might not be the LOWEST price out there, they definatley deliver quality work, with a smooth experience. Dustin "Red" Nisewarner

After several returns, they finally resolved it. Fast forward several months later, against my better judgment, I decided to bring in my other vehicle, my GMC for 2 issues: 1) replacing a cracked left side mirror, and 2) diagnosing and fixing the check engine light. They had my car for a week, during which I had to rent a vehicle. On September 10th, I got a call that my car was ready. I paid the bill over the phone, dropped off the rental, and my wife drove me to pick up my "repaired" car after hours. To my disappointment, the moment I started the car, the check engine light was still on. I thought maybe the system just needed to reset, so I drove it home, went to gym--but the light never went off. My question is: why return a car to a customer when the main issue hasn't been fixed? Now I'm left wasting more of my time either bringing the car back again or paying another shop to finally address the problem.

I called in and made a "waiting" appt for 8:15, but a couple days before my scheduled appt. I called in to see if I could drop my car off the night before. I was told sure, no problem, just drop it off between 5pm to 9pm. The night before my scheduled appointment I dropped my jeep off. Thinking I still had a scheduled appointment for 8:15. I called the day of my appt around 11:00 am wondering why I hadn't received a call stating my car was ready for pick up. The person who answered told me Caleb was not available, but would put my name on his desk and he'd call me in a little. An hour goes by and I still haven't heard back. So I called again, only to be told that they hadn't started work on my car, and that drop offs don't have a scheduled appt time. Not once was this ever explained to me. Not when I called to change to a drop off, and not when Emily took my keys at time of drop off. Then Caleb, or whatever his name is tells me they have my car in the bay now, and it will be done shortly. So I get ready to go get my car, because I know that an oil change takes about 15 min, a tire rotation takes about 15 min. I arrive over an hour after he said they had begun working on my car to find out they hadn't even started on it. That after I hung up, they took my car back out of the bay. They tell me then that they will start on it now, and it will be done in 45 min. I was so upset with the unprofessionalism at this point I chose to take my keys and leave. Not once was I told that changing from a "wait" appt to drop off would negate my already scheduled 8:15 time, but the nail in the coffin was removing my vehicle after being told they were working on it. I had such high hopes for Crownsville Auto, but at this point would never come back, and never recommended them.

Goss quoted me $993 to replace what they claimed was a bad headlight assembly. They listed the part alone at $619. Before approving anything, I asked two very standard, very basic questions: 1. "What is the part number for this $619 headlight assembly?" Melissa told me, "Unfortunately we don't get that until the part arrives." This makes no sense. A shop cannot order a part without knowing the part number first. Big red flag. 2. "How much is the markup on that part?" Melissa said, "Unfortunately I don't have access to that information." Again -- impossible. Every shop sees cost vs retail in their system. It's how parts are priced. Another big red flag. Both responses were evasive and dishonest, and no reputable shop would answer those two questions that way. I took the car to another mechanic (Ron at the Mobil station on 301) for a second opinion. He found the REAL issue was simply a melted connector--extremely common with older cars. He replaced the connector and bulb for $113 and everything works fine now. I saw the owner of Goss respond to another negative review by comparing Goss to a steakhouse and talking about their "warranty." Warranties and steaks have nothing to do with overpricing and refusing to disclose basic information like part numbers and markup -- information every legitimate auto shop can provide instantly. I'm fine with paying steakhouse prices if that's what I ordered, but not if the restaurant can't even tell me what cut of meat they're serving! Bottom line: --Goss tried to sell me a $993 repair that wasn't necessary --Goss refused to disclose part number or markup when directly asked --Another shop fixed the real issue for $113 The upselling is off-putting, but the lack of transparency around parts is inexcusable. We will not be returning, and I'd strongly recommend getting a second opinion before approving any work here.
