I called in about getting a 60k service done for my car, and from the very start on the phone, could tell that Elmer, the owner was very honest and upfront! He told me it was mostly just visual checks, but I brought it in, and they had it ready to pick up 4 hours later. Because I had just done my oil basically the whole service was just visual. They looked over the car, and even took a picture and showed me a part of the car that needed replacing (a trailing arm). Of course, this won't happen for everyone, but when I tried to pay, Elmer told me not to worry, that I didn't need to, even after I tried insisting. Super kind and honest shop! read more

This is weird to say that the shop didn't fix my car but I like this place and would take my car there when needed. Well, my heard my 2009 Miata making weird noise when it goes over a large bump at above 30 MPH. The noise is very hard to duplicate. I thought that some bushings may be bad. So I asked them to check for me. They test drove it and then put it on a lift. They found nothing. They showed me where I should look and where noises would come from, if the bushings were bad. Everything looked like new. With only 41K miles, my car looks clean and new under the carriage. I drove 11K miles in the past 7 months on bad Maryland roads. Well, it's a small car with rough suspension. By the way, don't buy a Miata if you can afford a more luxury car. Anyway, the shop was able to do all that without a crazy long appointment and also refused to let me pay for their time to test drive, put the car on the lift and show me under the car to proof that no bushings were bad. Zepeda along with Weller's Automotive are excellent. My car suddenly started shifting into neutral every time it got up to highway speeds as I drove from DC to the eastern shore so I limped into Annapolis. It was Sunday and everything was closed except, fortunately, the Enterprise. I rented a replacement car and left my car at Zepeda. Monday morning Elmer called having already run the codes on the car - the transmission issue didn't make sense and he recommended Weller's automotive in the same space. Jeff Weller was just great. He took the fact that the car was misbehaving but there was nothing relevant showing up in the codes as an interesting challenge - 5+ stars for friendly, cooperative, knowledgeable, professional service! read more

Elmer keeps my tank on the road--economically, with fair prices and honest assessments. He maintains several business fleets in the area and has a loyal following. He's basically a one man shop, small but he does have three bays and one lift. Open 6 days a week with long hours, and even on Saturday. He tries to accommodate everyone on their time schedule. He prefers to stick with basic maintenance and repairs--oil changes, brakes, coolant services, tires, etc.--instead of jobs that will be intensively time consuming (overhauling an engine, replacing a transmission). But he's been known to do so for good customers with the understanding that he's doing all the work himself and time permitting. The fact that he doesn't play the games that many repair shops do to jack up the bill makes me happy. As a female, service shops always want to play that shadow box thing and I hate it. No, I'm not a mechanic but my father loves cars and I'd sit for hours as a kid with him when he worked on his various hobby cars. I do know a thing or two. When one of the quickie service centers tried that show-and-sell thing showing me a filthy air filter telling me that I should change it, I asked them what Chevy did you pluck that out of because it doesn't go with my tank! I took my car in because it was making a strange sound when it started and sat at idle before the car fully warmed up. On the day I took my car in, it didn't make any strange noises. Elmer gave me peace of mind that he checked the belts and the fluids seemed okay. As per another review I saw somewhere else, he took the time to show me the belts and what he checked for under the hood. I will definitely be bringing my car back as my experience seems to match what others have said about their honesty and willingness to show others what they did. I have only been in MD 4 months, and I was worried about finding a good place to take my car in for repairs. I had a really good experience with the Toyota dealer in Fredericksburg, VA, but I wasn't going to make a 3 hour round trip if I didn't have to. I have had our Subaru Forester and Honda CRV worked on there and both times his work has been excellent and prices incredibly reasonable. Elmer is a really nice, genuine guy, all about customer service. He actually listened when I told him what the problem was, did a bunch of trouble shooting, pinpointed several major parts that WERE working so I wouldn't get scammed into unnecessary replacements somewhere else, and admitted that the problem probably required someone who was a specialist in electrical work. He was honest, gave detailed information and did not treat me like I must be an idiot since I'm a woman. He also didn't charge me for the basic diagnostic service, which I really appreciated. I'm impressed. Employees here took time to show me what was wrong with my 98 Subaru. Turns out, three tires were spinning, one was not. One of my brakes was stuck and I needed a new brake rotor thing. Luckily they had a spare one and they installed it. Problem solved. Elmer at Zepeda Auto Repair is amazing. We have gone to him a few times and I have to say he has done right by us. I had a coolant leak in my truck to the heater core. It was going to be a 1K repair and he said if you can't afford that we can try something else. It might work it might not but we can try. Since I did not have the cash I went for the quicker fix ar $50 dollars cost or so and it has been working for over a year on my old car. Sometimes you need that little bit of extra time to get up the funds. Many places would not even have tried to help me out like that. I feel he is completely honest and a fair individual.
