This business was recommended by another business down the street. I had a nail in one of my tires. It was busy and there were many cars not only in the lot but in the business itself being worked on. The man at the front desk was professional and friendly. I could hear the technicians working on cars talking to each other. Really positive and upbeat. The technician who fixed tire came out with the nail to show me what caused the problem. Very friendly and helpful. I expected a long wait and was OK with that but they took my car in right away and fixed the tire. The whole thing was under an hour. Highly recommend this business. read more

I had a great experience with Magothy Auto. They were fast in their evaluation of the problems, REALLY reasonable in price, they honor and respect first responders and military and were a pleasure to deal with. We have used them before and I trust their work. HIGHLY recommend - an efficient, very experienced staff, friendly and do great work. I intend to use them for all my vehicles!!!!! read more

We trust this place. We hate it when we have car trouble, but we've used Magothy Auto so many cars with many issues over many years and they've always taken good care of us. The Rollands read more

George and the team at magothy did it again. These guys are great, service and solutions oriented. No up sell, just great service.

Finding a reliable mechanic after you move to a new location is nerve wracking. After doing the mandatory distance-from-home and social media review checks, you're still not guaranteed quality. Luckily I had a couple trusted friends recommend Magothy Auto without reservation, and I'm glad I took their advice. Friendly, transparent, reasonable and professional. Dropped off in the AM, got SMS text updates, done same day. Price was right where I expected it to be! Glad it was my first stop. read more

Great service and such honest pricing. So lucky to have them close by. They do great work.

Being a long time customer I will no longer carry any of my vehicles back there I had a very interesting exchanged with the manager/ owner if that's what he is took my car to get serviced for front rotors a oil change and tire rotation I was told they can't rotate my tires because they were bald which is a complete lie I just bought brand new tires several months before new not used but they were determined to tell me otherwise word of the wise you should never argue with with a customer about whether their tires were new or used then he proceeds to bring in the guy who worked on the car and tell me the same thing and just dismiss what I'm saying I will never take my cars back to them and I know several people who take their cars there. I will tell them never to go back there again. read more

I've been taking my vehicles there for about 5 years now and have never had a bad experience. One very well known, and highly recommended place 5 miles down the road that I previously went to, stated my car needed repairs in excess of $500 for headlight issues. Took it to Magothy Auto and it was less than $100. read more

We had a wonderful experience here. We just moved to the area and were hoping to find a reliable, honest place to take our vehicles. My husband and I needed to do the Maryland safety inspection on both my car and my husband's truck. We were able to make appointments quickly and George provided us with speedy service. We are hoping that we have found our next trusted mechanic! We will definitely continue to come to George at Magothy Auto! read more

Highly recommend this place for any auto maintenance or repair. Super friendly, knowledgeable and fair. George will take good care of you as always. read more

My 2016 Jeep Patriot has been serviced here for over three years. After a recent oil change , while driving the engine seized up no warning no oil light etc. took my jeep to Magothy auto was told I needed a new motor. Installed a new motor for over $4000. a week later, the vehicle was not running very well. Was told by George that now I needed $800 worth of other work motor mount etc. not under the warranty of the new motor. Two weeks later the car was running rough wouldn't go over 40 miles an hour took it back and was told that it was the transmission sensor. Took it to Glen Burnie transmission they said there was nothing wrong with the transmission after spending an additional $135. Then George the manager said it was the spark plugs and the coil that needed to be replaced gave them another $291.00. Took the car home same problem would not go over 40 miles an hour. Called and told George what was going on. He said they're mechanic had tested and , drove it and it was fine. Took a video of what it was doing. Came back in on Wednesday, 15 February leaving the Jeep again . Every time I drove by the lot I saw my jeep sitting in the same exact spot. Made several phone calls, and I was told by George that they are working on it and it was possibly the catalytic converter. I told him that you guys already replace that. today is Monday February 20th and no one has called me with any updates. My jeep is still sitting in the same spot. Called and I was told by the mechanic DJ he can't find anything wrong with it and we should take it to the dealer and that they can't fix it. Now we are planning on taking them to small claims court. Unbelievable how we were treated by George. Every time we came in he made us feel like we were inconveniencing him. He treats us like an annoyance. The worst' customer service I've experienced. Never communicating just taking our money now we have spent over $7000 on repairs. This review is my personal experience and every consumer should know. As most say if I could give a negative review I would. I'm having the jeep towed today and have told George how dissatisfied and I feel they are dishonest and have made up repairs just to elevate my bill. George never apologized or addressed any wrongdoing. Don't let this happen to you. I'm taking the Jeep to Cape Auto and will post updates. read more

Came to Magothy Auto with a couple different problems with my Jeep and not one did they diagnose all three but recommended other options as opposed to just fixing all and charging me. Do Not hesitate to use these guys. Honesty is their strong suit. I will be a repeat customer. read more

We've used Magothy Auto for years and have only had positive experiences. My husband does a lot of our car maintenance and only brings our cars there for things he can't handle, like wheel alignments and tire mounting and balancing. His own car is there now for some work but he told George "no rush," which is always appreciated by them since they are usually packed with cars awaiting repair. The crowded parking lot alone says it all, since many other people trust their work to Magothy Auto. George has always been as nice as can be and we have never felt like we were overcharged. If my husband trusts them with our cars then that's saying a lot! read more

My family has been going to Magothy Auto for years and have only excellent things to say. George, the Manager, is knowledgeable, courteous and always does his best to get our vehicles in as soon as possible. George and his mechanics helped when I pulled one day with lights flashing and helped with no appointment and with no charge- this along with the last 6 years of service has made us loyal customers. They are honest and courteous- hard to find in today's world. 100% recommended! read more

Great experience when I was having issues with my tires. They worked me into the schedule and had my car up and running quickly when I called last minute! read more

Magothy Auto has my business from now on. Very honest shop, good prices, and I never needed to call to see what's going on with my vehicle. Even saved a faulty part to show me when my car was done. Very professional and courteous. 5 stars from me. read more

Little did I know! They never saw the bad tie rods, zip tied bumper and bad alignment. Why they did not mention this, I will never know. Now we are spending money to fix my car to pass inspection, money on things other than the ones they saw. They should have better inspection techniques. I will not use them again. Better attention to detail is needed. read more

I needed to get my Maryland state inspection done which went fine, except for the fact that my car failed. The only problem I had was that the explanation of one of the problems was not very well thought out so it took a couple of tries for me to fix what I needed. Other than that one little problem everything seemed to go well, prices weren't bad and I was able to get everything done relatively quickly. read more

Well, been a long time customer 7+ years and keep coming back because I've never really had any issues when vehicle were repaired, however with their prices for Labor and Parts, I wouldn't expect to keep coming back. The national.average for technician trained and certified mechanics is between $80 and $90 per hour. Believe they are going up a it.but Magothy seems to be one one of the highest in the area. ($115-120) There main mechanic does a nice job and.ia friendly as well as the young man in the evenings... The real downer is their front line guy, face of the business. His attitude has changed over the years and just seems like an angry man. Not sure what's going on, but when your customers are opening up their wallets and dropping $1,000s of dollars, I would expect the manager to have better people skills. He's actually quite rude at times so it's actually makes ya not even want to engage him. Anyway, time to find a new place which isn't easy, but just not interested in dealing with the attitude any longer. Maybe he's been there too long and needs a long vacation. But why businesses don't focus on front line, customer friendly employees makes no sense. If you can deal with that, the work is usually good. read more

The service was fast, timely and expert. My car was fixed the same day I called! The service managers and workers were pleasant, knowledgeable and seemingly unfettered by my gender, which in other auto services, seemed to present a problem. The fees were less than other businesses that I called; I found them to be extremely fair and friendly! Give them a try! read more

Excellent, honest and trust worthy service! Recently moved here and VERY happy with the 2 times we have taken our Tahoe to Magothy.

Great service and work! Had a flat tire and DJ went out of his way to help. Best costumer services I've had in a long time! Will definitely use them if I need again. read more

I've taken both of our cars to Magothy Auto, and the service has always been great. They've been fast, thorough and a business I trust.

Top notch customer service, great results. If you appreciate exceptional technical work done fast at a fair price, look no further. I brought my older car to George and his team and they quickly identified and explained what was failing and made the repairs fast and for a fair price. Cannot recommend them enough! read more

All around good mechanical service. Expect to do your own follow up, but well worth the effort. Reasonable Rates and Honest Repairs.

Great place and owners ....I know right up front the cost and never feel being riped off ....Donnie has work on our cars and boat for more then 12 years now and also the company vehicles and has always be fair read more

Donnie and his crew have worked on my vehicles for 10 years now, from minor electrical repairs to major engine replacement on my cabriolet to changing the timing belt on the passat. They do the job right the first time and charge a fair price without selling you unneeded snake oil services like"power steering flushes". read more

I just moved to the area and was referred to this place by someone I didn't even now and I'm so grateful! The gentleman there were wonderful. They couldn't actually fix my car because it was something that needed to be done at the dealership but they were so polite and didn't charge me a dime. They didn't even give me crap for leaving my car there for a few extra days. I will absolutely take my car to them first then next time something goes wrong. read more

Worst service I have ever encountered. They came highly recommended by a close friend but unfortunately my experience was less than satisfactory. Three separate days and $1800 later the very reason I took it in is still a problem. I took it in for a tune up, oil change, tire rotation, and the front end sounded loud and loose when going over bumps. They said I needed new spark plugs, gaskets, struts, and mounts. That was $1300+. I picked it up and the front end didn't change plus car pulled to the left. I had to leave it another whole day for them to decide what to do with it. Then they tell me that the left front tire only had 25lbs so they didn't check the pressure when they rotated the tires. And, now I needed both front upper control arms for another $475. So, in hopes of resolution, I agreed and left it for another day. Noise in front end has not changed and yesterday my engine light came on. I called and was told they couldn't look at my car until Thursday or Friday. I'd have been better off taking it to the dealership. read more

This used to be Colonial auto supply back int he day and that was a great place but those days are over and done with. I think the son of the original owner is still there and he sold off the colonial name but kept the location. Now its a mixed bag of nuts kind of place doing auto and boat repair as well as renting u-huals. Definitely don't rent a u-hual here because you will get a song and dance about how you can only keep it so long and you absolutely have to have it back buy a certain time because its reserved for someone else. then when you bring it back as they requested the place is closed and the truck sits for three days solid before they even move it. read more

Have used Magothy Auto Services for almost 10 years now, and have always been happy with their work. I never feel like they pad their prices and in a number of instances, they've actually come back with money-saving suggestions. George is easy to work with, and they always have my car ready when they say they will - sometimes ahead of schedule. Would definitely recommend them. read more

I have used these guys for years. I've cut corners by using a near by Mr Tire and I paid the price. Like any business you utilize its important to review the work performed. But the fact is, if something isn't right, they will take care of it. Ask for George, he will help you out. read more

Went in for a state inspection. Nice folks all around. My only problem, and one that will make me think twice about going back for other work, is that my wiper blades didn't pass inspection because they were "stuttering." I installed the wiper blades myself only a few months ago and they have never stuttered. I even used my wipers that very morning to wipe melting ice off my windshield with no stuttering at all. I can't verify that conditions in the shop didn't somehow make them stutter. I'm guessing shops don't make much money from inspections, so they were being super picky to find some minor repair that would be worth their while--wiper blades are an easy markup. I didn't argue, but simply asked them to clarify what the problem was. They did grease some parts for free and were quick and friendly, so I didn't make a fuss about paying too much for blades I didn't need. Overall, an average experience. I'll post an update if I go back again. read more
