We recently moved to the area 2 years ago and were drawn here based on their local award winning "best of Pasadena" service reputation. That award is well deserved and we always bring our cars here for service of all kinds. I am a systems engineer by training and these guys "speak my language"! We have two VWs that are 10 years old and thanks to the Chesapeake Car Care team we expect another 10 years from these cars minimum! I have detected a pattern on the handful of one-star ratings here that are artificially driving down their Yelp score--someone with a beef (I am guessing a competitor who is unhappy they keep winning the Best of Pasadena award) asked a few of their friends to post a bunch of hyperbolic 1-star reviews--I notice that for each of these likely fake reviews the person has only ever submitted ONE review to Yelp ever--one guy even claims they forgot to put his oil filter on and it ruined his car--total nonsense. Got an inspection and supposedly I need this part to fix the "jerking problem" I had. Andrew told me he would order it and to come back to get it fixed. I had some hesitation but because he said he's ordering it (wanted to be a woman of my word) I came back. My family had been going here for a while spending thousands of dollars. Anyway, a couple days later I had the exact same problem, after I paid the inspection also. Therefore he labeled it and said it's fixed. Ryan worked on but Andrew drove it when I returned. Andrew says "Yeah it is "jerking ". I said " thanks Andrew" that's why I brought it here because of this and was told by Ryan"It's fixed". I explained the problem wasn't fixed and I would like them to fix it or give me my money back. Andrew says no, if have to talk to owner. WAITED OVER 4 CLOSE TO 5 HOURS FOR HIM ( TOLD HE WAS PLAYING BASEBALL). He comes in walks right past me and gets behind desk. I explained everything and said Andrew drove it and felt same thing. Andrew now "hesitant" owner there and says yeah maybe it's spark plugs? The inspection, drove and label what it was for sure and now I need spark plugs. " No sir please return my money " I said. Told about how my family spent thousands and owner says very condescending" I don't care nothing about that". Hours of sitting, harsh interaction, no apologies and refused to fix car. Chesapeake Car Care replaced a part on my car without making sure that it would not cause further damage. What's more, they signed off on my car passing all safety inspections. Within three weeks, my car became unusable due to what Chesapeake Car Care did. They deny any responsibility for this, and refuse to fix it or even refund me the $2000 I paid them to essentially break my car. read more

First, I will state that I'm a employee currently working here. This will be a informative statement. I've been working in shops for about 10 years now 1 and a half at Chesapeake Car Care 10 in total. I never heard of a employer telling a employee at just because someone has a bigger toolbox they are more valuable . So it's not about what knowledge you learnt overtime is about what you see. Second I just don't know where to start. I am your employee not your child don't tell me after 10 years I don't think your hearts in it. I love working on cars when I start it's not going to stop. He thought they were going to riot and loot. I don't see how that had any point of Professionalism of my job as a Technician. The second thing is that you cant point out ones mistake at just someone. But then when the question about everybodys mistakes is asked the answer is "everyone makes mistakes". Yes I have brought up my concerns more then once. First time I was told we don't have time to train people, he just needed people that can come in and do the job. And if I couldn't cut it I was to be terminated. He didn't know what I was capable of, understandably. I accepted the challenge worked hard because I try. Second time we talked I was told that I don't have any value to him and hard work does not count for anything because we all sweat. Even thou some sweat hell of alot more then others. A few years ago this WAS a very good place to have your car repaired. That was then, this is now. 3 strikes and they're OUT. 1) The clutch they replaced failed within a couple of months. RE-done BUT -- see third item. 2) Axle on wife's car failed after a few months. Knurled end was almost unconnected. I had another mechanic fix it locally because, with an axle ready to fall off, I couldn't even risk a tow. Chesapeake refused to cover cost ("should have brought it here" -- With a broken axle?). 3) For my car (Firehawk) the transmission has to be taken out in order to replace the clutch. After 2 or 3 more months the transmission almost fell out completely; extremely loose. It make a racket sounding as if it would break apart. I was fortunate to find a mechanic who fixed it without high cost and without further trouble. Initially I intended to take Chesapeake Car Care to Small Claims Court. Too busy; it took a few more months to write this since the last (loose transmission) problem. I feel obligated, though, to alert customers. I have no idea what happened to Chesapeake Car Care. It's lost a lot. read more

After Mr. Tire down the road started overcharging for services and not delivering the quality that I was used to (for the 5 or so years I went there) I decided to shop around. Two family members of mine recommended these guys and although I was skeptical at first it turns out that CCC is top notch as far as I'm concerned. Ryan (the manager?) is absolutely fantastic and will give it to you straight. They also seem to charge incredibly reasonable rates for the labor and the mechanics seem far better than those you'll find at the regional or national brand chain-store type shops. As a new resident to the area, I need to find a new mechanic, starting with my state inspection so I can register my car. Based on Yelp and Google reviews, I selected this company. It took about 4 business days for them to get me a waiting appointment (they could do it sooner if I would drop off), but they started on my car right on time. I had a couple of items that needed to be addressed to pass inspection and they came up with an ad-hoc solution for one, and installed a new bulb for the other. On top of that, they charged me no additional labor charges for implementing the ad-hoc solution for me nor for installing my bulb. They walked me around the car showing me how things were doing and were very transparent and straight-forward. Already made an appointment for our other family car and will be using these folks going forward. My only caveat is that if you are looking for a waiting lounge with vending machines, comfy lounge chairs, a free Keurig machine, flat screen TVs, etc......you should go ahead and go to the car dealership (and pay triple the prices). They have a perfectly acceptable small waiting room with 4-5 folding chairs, a table of magazines, and a single bathroom - like many of my other past local hard working mechanics. read more
