Grease Monkey on Ritchie Highway is unlike any automotive repair shop I have encountered in the…read moreBaltimore-Glen Burnie area. What separates this location from the typical garage is their combination of speed, mechanical capability, immediate service, and determination to finish the job correctly. I brought my vehicle in for substantial rear-brake work involving new brake drums, wheel bearings, brake components, hardware, and the related parts needed to properly complete the repair. Instead of telling me to leave the vehicle for several days before a technician could even begin, they started working on it immediately. That is the remarkable part of their business model. They provide the urgency people expect from a quick-service operation, but they are capable of performing serious and complex mechanical repairs. When additional parts were needed, they were able to obtain them from nearby suppliers extremely quickly. In one instance, the replacement drums arrived in roughly 15 minutes, and the technicians continued the repair without unnecessary delay. I also observed other customers arriving with automotive problems and saw the same sense of urgency: diagnose the problem, obtain what is needed, and get to work. There was no attitude of, "Leave it here and maybe we will get to it in a few days." The young leadership and technicians work with tremendous tenacity. If a repair requires another component, another adjustment, or another step, they keep moving forward until the vehicle is properly repaired. I did not have to stand over anyone or repeatedly ask whether the related components were being addressed. They handled the repair comprehensively. Many dealerships and traditional repair shops can keep a vehicle for several days simply because it is waiting in line before anyone begins working on it. Grease Monkey has created something different: bring the vehicle in, get the repair started, obtain the necessary parts quickly, complete the mechanical work, and get the customer back on the road. Their building says, "Done Fast. Done Right." After experiencing their service firsthand, I can say that is more than advertising. It describes how this location operates. For drivers, families, commuters, and businesses with fleet vehicles throughout the Baltimore and Glen Burnie area, this is a shop worth knowing about. Five stars. Grease Monkey is not simply another repair garage. They are demonstrating what modern automotive service should look like.

I've spent my whole life doing my own car repairs, so it's rare that I ask someone else to help me…read more I don't trust repair shops, and I've specifically had bad luck in Glen Burnie before. Now, let me tell you why they have earned five stars from me (and I do not normally write reviews.) I called them on Day 1 and asked how much I'd be looking at for some exhaust repairs. As expected, they told me to bring it in and let them have the chance to give me an accurate estimate. Day 2, I picked up the parts that I already knew I needed and drove over to get an estimate. The shop told me that there is a $75 minimum on labor costs, so that's what they would have to charge me. Instead of walking away, I realized that I have a lot more work that needs to be done and asked if we can find a deal that makes me feel like it's worth it to spend more, but have more services performed. They gave me a very reasonable estimate for the work, so I told them that I would be back in the morning. In the end, their mechanic (Justin) installed an exhaust seal and ABS sensor, and replaced a sway bar bushing and some oil cooler line fittings. I bought my car with 180,000 miles on it, and it currently has 215,000 miles logged. Post-repair, my car has never run as smoothly as long as I've owned it! To say that I am happy is an understatement; I am ecstatic! Justin is the man, and Rich knows how to run a shop effectively. Some people would end with saying that the mechanical aspects were as expected and that the price was appropriate. I had the pleasure, and yes, it actually was a pleasure, of sitting in their waiting room from 10 AM until 6 PM. This wait was completely my own fault, as I intended to get there when they opened at 7:30 AM and I didn't get there until 10. They offered multiple times to drive me home and let me wait in comfort, but I wanted to just wait on my car. There is a great diner next door with wifi access that allowed me to sit at the bar and sip on tea for a while, but I felt bad doing this for multiple hours and I went back to the waiting room. I spent roughly six hours sitting in their waiting room and speaking on and off with their manager, Rich. I witnessed people calling in and yelling at him about things that made absolutely no sense, and I watched him respond with professionalism and poise. I watched Justin get frustrated with a car that seemed to break more every time he touched it. I watched customers come in and leave, some without a problem and some with issues to address. What I observed is that some people just argue about cost no matter what; even if they are getting a great deal. The staff here was 100% customer service oriented. They were incredible. They were so incredible that I plan on going back in a couple of weeks to have more repairs performed that were optional recommendations. Heck, they weren't even recommendations. I asked Justin to tell me everything that he saw that would help me extend the life of my vehicle and he went through it and told me. The parts are on order now. Rich saw that I was trying to work remotely and allowed me to use one of their phone lines when I could not be on my cell phone and work on my laptop at the same time. I was able to effectively work remotely and not miss a day of work because they were willing to work with me. I cannot recommend this shop enough. I have never found a commercial chain store that I felt was giving me the complete truth... until now. Please do yourself a favor and give this place a chance. Ask for Rich. Ask for Justin. There are others that I am sure are just as competent, but these two know what's up!
