Our BMW - Graduation Time

Service was fantastic! Bavarium Autoworks is a great shop! The shop looks impressive as you drive up - Very well cared for - Everything is shiny from the automobiles, to the windows to the floors of the shop - you will feel very comfortable leaving your automobile with them. All the service people are knowledgeable and educated. We have taken our 2008 335i to them several times over the years - but we usually plan it out before we head over to see them. This time it was an emergency - and they delivered. The problem was discovered and repaired in a timely fashion - again, just what you are looking for in an auto shop. Can't thank Bavarium enough for all the help! We will definitely be going back and we"ll be spreading the word to all our friends. Stop by and check them out! Thanks again! Rick and Carol

I've been a client of Bavarium for a couple of years now, and they've worked on two of my BMWs. My m3 needed some long overdue maintenance and they did an awesome job. A very professional well organized clean and knowledgeable shop. A family owned and run business that cares about its clients. A great customer experience. Quotes and work summaries by email, with a follow up system that notifies you about recommended maintenance. Erin, Nathan, and the team do great work. Highly recommended.

I have found Bavarium Autoworks (formerly Carbahn) to be the finest BMW repair shop in the San Francisco Bay Area since my moving here in April 2013. They provide superb diagnostic capabilities, excellent work, unbelievable customer service, and strong value - typically at least 30% off of dealer prices. Owners Erin and Andy Gomes make a very strong team indeed, with Erin serving as the business manager and Andy serving as the shop foreman. Recently at a leading BMW dealer, I was unable to have my X3 drivetrain issue properly diagnosed, despite their having the vehicle for nearly two weeks. A Master Diagnostician and expert technician alike, Andy was able to solve the problem in short order. He determined (with absolute confidence) that the wastegate valve of the turbocharger was sticking, thereby causing a rattle and loss of requisite backpressure. While this issue required a replacement of the turbocharger, this option was much less costly than replacing the vehicle. Given that my X3 is running well, I expect to take it from 150k to 200k miles or more. Bavarium Autoworks will help me get there!

Erin and her team is great! I needed an oil change on my Mini Cooper and I called around a few shops to get quotes, Bavarium came back with the most competitive quotes. Everything was super professional done from dropping off the car and picking it up. Would def recommend these guys to anyone!

Bavarium Autoworks Is awesome! When I called in, I spoke to Erin. Super friendly customer service and extremely knowledgeable. They performed a pre-purchase inspection on a used car I was looking to buy. Andrew took the time to meticulously look over the entire vehicle. He looked at the tires and breaks, the vehicles interior, exterior and under the vehicle, ran a complete diagnostic under the hood, checked for any fault codes and then took it for a 6 mile road test to so he could ensure me with confidence I was not buying a lemon. Very reasonably priced, will be taking my car there for all future services. Thank You Bavarium Autoworks, You Guys Rock!

Quick response, great service and communication, and sent me pictures of all things they inspected…read more(no charge). Saved me a lot of money and time! My new go-to car repair and service.

I left my car there on a Wednesday about noon. It is now Tuesday end of day (6 days later) and I…read morecalled them 4 times over the last week (and left 4 voicemails with my return phone number) to find out status of my car which should have at least had the diagnostic by this point. No one picked up and there was no returned phone calls. I am just going to go in tomorrow and pick up my car and take it to another location. Update 6/30: It seemed the mechanics were fine, I'm sure it is a capable shop. I finally got a call on Friday (1 hour before i was going in to pick up my car to move it to another repair shop). The nice person who accepted my car let me know that they had completed the diagnostic. I told him I was just gonna come in and get it since it had been 9 days since i had dropped it off and couldn't get ahold of anyone there. Plus on my voicemail on Tuesday i had said to cancel the diagnostic. I picked up my car and took it to another place. Also worth noting... I responded to the yelp response below on Wednesday with screenshots of my call log and the address where i took it. I got no response from that email address, no phone call, no nothing. I suspect the problems with this place are one or more of the following: * They have a LOT of cars onsite. My guess is that they are accepting too many and we would all be better served if they didn't over commit and said no to some of us. * I am guessing there used to be someone who was in charge of answering phone calls and responding to voicemails and communicating with the mechanics. Now there seems to be no one dedicated to this (though maybe an overworked mechanic who is stretched too thin). On Friday the person i worked with seemed to have no knowledge I had cancelled my diagnostic 4 days earlier. * Maybe they have an automated system for responding to one star yelp reviews... and it is not being monitored anymore. * Maybe their phone system is down or misconfigured and they are losing phone calls and voicemails. * Maybe the owner (or office manager) is sick. I hope they get better if so.

Despite some of the 1-star reviews, I decided to give this shop a chance because it was close to…read morehome, appeared to have experience with Subarus, and had plenty of positive reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was consistent with a few of the negative reviews. I was able to schedule an appointment within two days for an oil change using the manufacturer-recommended oil, OEM brakes and rotors, an A/C recharge, and a tire rotation. When I arrived, the shop immediately gave me weird vibes. There were no other customers, and the office was dark, dingy, and messy. It didn't feel like a professional shop at all. When I picked up my Subaru Forester, I learned they had used 10W-40 oil instead of the manufacturer-recommended viscosity rating (SAE) I requested. Rather than addressing my concern, I received a long explanation about why the difference supposedly did not matter (it matters; look it up!). They also installed Akebono brakes and rotors even though I had specifically requested OEM parts. The A/C service was even more frustrating. Kevin told me he had performed a diagnostic and found no parts that needed replacing, so he recharged the system. However, the A/C still did not work. I returned to the shop after picking up my wife from work. Kevin looked at it again and told me the O-ring needed to be replaced. He asked to keep the car for several more hours or overnight, which I declined. Several other things raised concerns for me. I was quoted around $100 for the A/C recharge, but the invoice came to ~$160. After I questioned it, Kevin reduced the charge by $30. To avoid a 3% credit-card fee, I chose Zelle, but the shop's number did not work, so I was asked to send the payment to his personal phone number. I also received only a photo of the receipt because the printer was supposedly/conveniently out of ink. Every question is met with a long winded spiel, where it's made to be seen as helpful or knowledgable, and to affirm that you've made the right choice by picking them. To me, it's a waste of my time and it exposes their nonsense if you listen carefully. Kevin also told that my car's control arm bushing was cracking and needed attention. Because I had lost confidence in him, I took the car back to the Subaru dealership to undo his work (e.g. changed the oil with the manufacturer-recommended viscosity, a/c diagnostic and repair, exchange the brake fluid he added with OEM fluid, etc.,) and they also performed a multipoint inspection. They provided a video of the inspection and did not identify the control arm bushing as an issue. Overall, I spent nearly $1,500 and left with more concerns than I had going in. I should have paid closer attention to the negative reviews. By the end of the experience, I didn't want them touching my car again. I will not be returning. If you own a Subaru, I recommend looking elsewhere for a shop that knows these cars, uses OEM parts, and operates with professionalism and integrity. The shop offers no warranty for their work. Even if they did, I had already lost confidence in them and decided it wasn't worth wasting anymore of my time or dealing with the hassle.

But I do feel that the acceleration increased obviously after the job. Kevin also spent time to explain what engine oil I should use. Although I do not agree with him on that, I still appreciate his effort trying to help his customers. BTW, I got stopped by police due to speeding a few days after the engine job.

Time and time again, Rick (runs the front desk and I believe is the owner) and the rest of the folks at Yarnell's have provided our family of cars the highest level of customer service! If you have a Toyota or Honda (or Lexus or Acura), they are the go to place for whatever ails your car. (They do other makes as well, but specialize on Toyota/Honda.) The job gets done right the first time and for the right price. Just this past week, I had the (12V) battery replaced in my 2006 Highlander Hybrid along with the headlight restoration (now I can actually see the road at night!). When everything was done I asked Rick to come out and listen to something I heard in the car for the first time that morning. Turned out to be tons of leaves/debris coming in contact with the AC blower. He pulled out the old air filter lickity split and replaced it. "How much do I owe you?" I said, "No charge." he said. That's just one example of the several times he has helped/provided something at no charge. He's provided advice over the phone several times too! The day Rick decides to retire will be a sad day for all of Yarnell's customers. Yarnell's really understands what it means to serve their community.
