The only place I have had my truck serviced during the past several years. I Just took it in several days ago because I had a loss of power and asked them to check it with their computer, just pull the code and then discuss remedies. When I called after several days, I was told that they had two of their "best mechanics" working on a diagnosis, for two hours . . . that is 2 X 2 shop hours at the hourly shop-rate. Ouch. I asked them to STOP. I went to pick it up, it was a dirty air cleaner. They charged me a nominal fee for the diagnosis, which was fair. Then, when I got it home, I went to change the air cleaner myself, and found many bolts, retainers, fastners, missing, things were loose (e.g. the upper wiring harness, the coolant reservior, etc.) The truck had been serviced several times, with charges up to $7,000, and always at Silicon Valley Performance. I would love to recommend this shop, I prefer the smaller, locally owned shops, but after reading other reviews, and after being told that two technicians had worked for two hours . . . . SVP seems more interested in the $$$$ than in the service. I do not have any problem paying for service rendered, but this interaction seemed to me to be an attempt to inflate the work actually done on my truck.

Friendly and accommodating folks at SVP, however: - After my first service, just a regular oil change, I notice the low oil pressure light going off. After getting home on that same day, the oil filler cap was not installed and found it in a random corner of the engine compartment. Missing installing this oil cap can happen but I was not impressed by their service diligence. - a few months later I return to SVP and after they inspected my vehicle, they recommended replacing the transmission pan seal and I went with it. Two days later I notice a huge puddle of transmission fluid oil on my driveway! After inspecting what was going on, I notice a continuous leak coming from the transmission pan and the transmission fluid level was super low (as indicated by the dip stick) - I never noticed a single drop of transmission fluid before the seal replacement. Now my vehicle was stuck at home since driving it would be very risky. After messaging them about the issue they recommended going to the nearest Napa center to fix the issue (???) - they never offered to try to fix the issue themselves. I ended up buying the transmission pan seal and transmission fluid and performed the replacement myself. Attaching the pictures of what I found after removing the transmission pan and before installing my purchased seal - SVP did a horrible job at applying the neoprene seal and silicone compound - the seal already had a tear. They never even discussed the possibility of reimbursing for this very poor service, so I ended up spending way too much money and time to resolve this simple problem. After these two incidents, I am never setting foot on that shop again.

TOP SHOP! Robert and his team are a force to be reckoned with. I bought a truck from Robert and he went above and beyond making sure everything was in good order and safe before turning it over to me, my brother and I road tripped to Texas hauling a heavy load like it was nothing! If you want if done right take it to SVP! The amount of information that is provided by this shop is incredible, the inspection results are sent directly to your phone and every service performed is explained and written in detail on the work orders.

No one picked up and there was no returned phone calls. I am just going to go in tomorrow and pick up my car and take it to another location. Update 6/30: It seemed the mechanics were fine, I'm sure it is a capable shop. I finally got a call on Friday (1 hour before i was going in to pick up my car to move it to another repair shop). The nice person who accepted my car let me know that they had completed the diagnostic. I told him I was just gonna come in and get it since it had been 9 days since i had dropped it off and couldn't get ahold of anyone there. Plus on my voicemail on Tuesday i had said to cancel the diagnostic. I picked up my car and took it to another place. Also worth noting... I responded to the yelp response below on Wednesday with screenshots of my call log and the address where i took it. I got no response from that email address, no phone call, no nothing. I suspect the problems with this place are one or more of the following: * They have a LOT of cars onsite. My guess is that they are accepting too many and we would all be better served if they didn't over commit and said no to some of us. * I am guessing there used to be someone who was in charge of answering phone calls and responding to voicemails and communicating with the mechanics. Now there seems to be no one dedicated to this (though maybe an overworked mechanic who is stretched too thin). On Friday the person i worked with seemed to have no knowledge I had cancelled my diagnostic 4 days earlier. * Maybe they have an automated system for responding to one star yelp reviews... and it is not being monitored anymore. * Maybe their phone system is down or misconfigured and they are losing phone calls and voicemails. * Maybe the owner (or office manager) is sick. I hope they get better if so.

$60 for oil change vs 44.xx with code as advertised in AAA website…read more There was no place to enter in the discount code when booking the appointment. Feels like a bait and switch. There are 10$ coupons on the internet but was told found them too late. 1.5h to do an oil change. waited 25m for them to start for a 1pm appt while person was on phone. Used to be MPG repair. They do an inspection looking for high profit repair items they can talk people into like they look into carfax records and if they don't see maintenance records they come back with spark plug replacement, replacing radiator hoses etc. The classic stuff. From scotty killmer YT channel: don't fall for the spark plug scam. People forget when the last change was. If you forget take one off and look at it before deciding. OIl change DIY is $20. Toyota dealer sells oil filters for $5. Shocking it is that low. Alawys buy the wiper insert from the dealer, dont buy the entire blade from Costco. Big ripoff. The small piece of rubber you replace is a lot cheaper than replacing the entire blade. Not a fan of the AAA collab. Feel like am being used for profit optimization.

Despite some of the 1-star reviews, I decided to give this shop a chance because it was close to…read morehome, appeared to have experience with Subarus, and had plenty of positive reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was consistent with a few of the negative reviews. I was able to schedule an appointment within two days for an oil change using the manufacturer-recommended oil, OEM brakes and rotors, an A/C recharge, and a tire rotation. When I arrived, the shop immediately gave me weird vibes. There were no other customers, and the office was dark, dingy, and messy. It didn't feel like a professional shop at all. When I picked up my Subaru Forester, I learned they had used 10W-40 oil instead of the manufacturer-recommended viscosity rating (SAE) I requested. Rather than addressing my concern, I received a long explanation about why the difference supposedly did not matter (it matters; look it up!). They also installed Akebono brakes and rotors even though I had specifically requested OEM parts. The A/C service was even more frustrating. Kevin told me he had performed a diagnostic and found no parts that needed replacing, so he recharged the system. However, the A/C still did not work. I returned to the shop after picking up my wife from work. Kevin looked at it again and told me the O-ring needed to be replaced. He asked to keep the car for several more hours or overnight, which I declined. Several other things raised concerns for me. I was quoted around $100 for the A/C recharge, but the invoice came to ~$160. After I questioned it, Kevin reduced the charge by $30. To avoid a 3% credit-card fee, I chose Zelle, but the shop's number did not work, so I was asked to send the payment to his personal phone number. I also received only a photo of the receipt because the printer was supposedly/conveniently out of ink. Every question is met with a long winded spiel, where it's made to be seen as helpful or knowledgable, and to affirm that you've made the right choice by picking them. To me, it's a waste of my time and it exposes their nonsense if you listen carefully. Kevin also told that my car's control arm bushing was cracking and needed attention. Because I had lost confidence in him, I took the car back to the Subaru dealership to undo his work (e.g. changed the oil with the manufacturer-recommended viscosity, a/c diagnostic and repair, exchange the brake fluid he added with OEM fluid, etc.,) and they also performed a multipoint inspection. They provided a video of the inspection and did not identify the control arm bushing as an issue. Overall, I spent nearly $1,500 and left with more concerns than I had going in. I should have paid closer attention to the negative reviews. By the end of the experience, I didn't want them touching my car again. I will not be returning. If you own a Subaru, I recommend looking elsewhere for a shop that knows these cars, uses OEM parts, and operates with professionalism and integrity. The shop offers no warranty for their work. Even if they did, I had already lost confidence in them and decided it wasn't worth wasting anymore of my time or dealing with the hassle.

Time and time again, Rick (runs the front desk and I believe is the owner) and the rest of the folks at Yarnell's have provided our family of cars the highest level of customer service! If you have a Toyota or Honda (or Lexus or Acura), they are the go to place for whatever ails your car. (They do other makes as well, but specialize on Toyota/Honda.) The job gets done right the first time and for the right price. Just this past week, I had the (12V) battery replaced in my 2006 Highlander Hybrid along with the headlight restoration (now I can actually see the road at night!). When everything was done I asked Rick to come out and listen to something I heard in the car for the first time that morning. Turned out to be tons of leaves/debris coming in contact with the AC blower. He pulled out the old air filter lickity split and replaced it. "How much do I owe you?" I said, "No charge." he said. That's just one example of the several times he has helped/provided something at no charge. He's provided advice over the phone several times too! The day Rick decides to retire will be a sad day for all of Yarnell's customers. Yarnell's really understands what it means to serve their community.
