    Crawfish!!!
    Jacquelyn C.

I need you all to eat here. We need this place to survive. This crawfish I had was a-mazing. The seasoning was out of this world. Everything was cooked perfectly and I can not wait to try more of the food. As someone from the area where creole food is from I am SO EXCITED for these flavors! We have never had anything like this here and you all should try it!!! On top of the incredible food the person at the window was soooo kind. I tried calling and couldn't get through (which is understandable they were super busy) so I send a message on facebook and they were very responsive. When I walked up to the window and said my name he immediately lit up and knew who I was. I am in love with this place. Try it!

The food was sooo delicious We are visiting from out of state and wanted to come try this authentic southern style food and it did not disappoint! The prices are very affordable and the customer service was so awesome. I got no sausage (allergic go pork) on my sea food boil and they were so kind and gave me more of the other options. Absolutely wonderful people!! This is definitely a hole in the wall and can't wait to come back!!

These guys and their food is AWESOME! IF your patient, they make it worth it! They are the take out window next to the seafood market.

This joint is a true hidden gem, hole in the wall! Flavor, quantity, quality and customer service is ALL THERE. I need to emphasize on flavor and the kindness of the owner because he and his authentic NOLA cooking is the reason why we'll be coming back. My husband recently came back from a trip to New Orleans, and he said our meal from Battles trumped his meals in New Orleans. We have huge respect to the chef and owner!

The seafood macaroni is a savory delight and étouffée is delicious! Actually everything we've tried has been amazing and when my grown kids were visiting they even had beignets! So delicious the guys that own and run it are very nice and a blast to talk to. We plan to try more stuff and highly recommend a visit to anyone in the area looking for authentic Louisiana cuisine! You can take it to go or sit outside with your pet.

They happily put the game on when we asked and were very attentive throughout our visit, which made a great first impression. I ordered the burger with bacon and blue cheese and requested no condiments. I think there may have been some confusion in the kitchen, as the garnishes were left off as well, but our server promptly brought them out when asked. Unfortunately, the burger itself was overcooked and lacked flavor. The ciabatta roll was only partially toasted, and overall the dish fell a bit flat. The fries, however, were excellent hot, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and absolutely delicious. I don't usually like coated fries, but these were a home run. My dining partner ordered the BLT and said the sandwich was great overall. We also shared the mozzarella sticks appetizer. They were a bit different from traditional mozzarella sticks, thicker cheese with a heavier breading. While they were good, I felt the order should have included six instead of four. Overall, even though we were one of only two tables in the restaurant, we had a great lunch, thanks largely to the excellent service.

The dining room was elegant yet cozy, with great lighting. The staff was also very friendly and our waiter was very helpful in aiding our choice. We ordered the Focaccia bread, the salmon momtadito and the tonnarelli as our entree. The focaccia was the only dissapointing item as it was very basic in my opinion, which isn't bad but just nothing exciting to write about. The appetizer, the salmon montadito, was probably my favorite item of the night. It was served on focaccia bread and drizzled with a truffle honey butter and sat upon a mascarapone yogurt. It was elegant and it was incredibly flavorful. The sweetness of the truffle honey butter was a great contrast to the salmon itself, and all melted together to make an exceptional appetizer. The tonnarelli was a pasta dish we split and was also very tasty. The pasta itself was a thicker spaghetti like pasta served with plenty of crab. It was tasty and it satisfied and I'd likely order it again as I will be back when my sister's visit. All in all, a great restaurant to spend a nice night right in the heart of Bellingham!

My companion and I arrived during Happy Hour and these two selections are on that menu, so we had them again--and I guess the utility of this review is to say that these selections continue to be consistently delicious and that this is a wonderful place. We also shared an Afogato--vanilla gelato with decaf espresso poured over! Perfect, quite light after our meal and beautiful enough to paint as a watercolor. This is one of our easy go-to's when looking to dine out. We were happily helped by friendly bartenders, Nicole and Sie, who made great recommendations and great drinks for us. I especially loved the Mario Cicotti cocktail (an interesting variant of an Old Fashioned--including tobacco bitters and charred orange peel!--very interesting). And we enjoyed the beautiful, warm Montepulciano Nicole recommended. And they concocted a surprise drink for my dessert--I can't recall what it was--but it was lovely and came with a bunch of hearts! Consistently wonderful place in all ways, with lots of heart itself. In my opinion, what's not to love?

Upon entering ( at 4:30pm), I was struck by how many people were there; it was almost full. We were quickly greeted by Mikey (aka; "Yonzo"). Very friendly, very helpful. We received our drinks promptly and ordered food. The fish & chips were generous and tasty. The breading was unusual, but was again, tasty. I couldn't determine what it was, but I would order it again. The bowl of clam chowder was very generous and again "unusual". Plenty of clams and thyme. I would order it again. I went to the bar to request another beer and buy some pull tabs. I noticed the wall of pull tabs was entirely covered with Christmas decorations. When asked, Yonzo informed me that the new owner had not yet completed the process to offer pull tabs. Apparently, a new owner arrived in April of this year (2024). It was interesting to note that the entire place looked to be cleaner, with a very upbeat and friendly atmosphere. In all, we enjoyed the food and had a great time in the "new" tavern. So we all met up for a lovely dinner here and the entire experience was fabulous. From our incredibly attentive (and very patient) server to wonderful drinks and tasty food, everything was top notch. Our server arrived quickly and took our drink orders, then gave us plenty of time (at our request) to enjoy our bevvies and each others company before returning to take our dinner orders. In the meantime, he kept the baskets of their delish butter-and-garlic-imbibed bread coming. Soon, dinner was before us. The Dude and I shared a rotisserie chicken cobb salad and a shrimp appy. Both were fabulous. The rotisserie chicken is smoked and prepped in house, and it was a more than generous portion. The shrimp was good, too, and we topped off the meal with creme brulee. My parents enjoyed their salads, and my son said his burger was quite tasty. We were also impressed that they had locally-brewed Kulshan Bastard Kat on tap. My dad had never tried it before and really enjoyed his pint. Hearthfire was a long ago happy hour staple for me, and I think I'll be back for dinner sooner rather than later!
