This place is super popular so plan to go early or be prepared to wait. The menu has a lot to offer including several specifically vegetarian-friendly options (yay!). I had a hard time choosing because everything looked delicious, so we will definitely be back to try the avacado toast, omelettes and more. I had the egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on a fluffy biscuit that was absolutely perfect. The side of potatoes was so flavorful that I didn't need any condiments. The mimosas were excellent-- we had the cinnamon and pear craft mimosa but I think next time I'll get a flight of mimosas so we can try several flavor combinations. Its a really nice place, the ambiance and area is clean and modern. But if you're not getting pancakes, perhaps expect to have to pick a different menu option. When I went there, I had to pick 3 different menu options because they simply just didn't have them in the store. No avocados, no yogurt, no steak, etc, before I was finally able to get something. On my weekend trip to Houston I decide to try out Batters and Brunch on a Monday morning. As you can see in the photo below the photos of the menu and the inside of the restaurant. The restaurant isn't that big its holds I believe 70 ppl. So not a large establishment. I started my breakfast with a chai latte and then I ordered the French toast. I believe it was a combo. Which it came with three slices of French toast two eggs and I did the two bacon and one sausage. Overall, the breakfast was really good. I feel my breakfast was pretty simple so it's really not much I can go off the sausage. It's really good. But my chai latte was amazing. Stopped by Batters & Brunch for my first Goals Brunch event and it ended up being a really chill experience. Because of the cold weather, it wasn't packed at all, which honestly worked in our favor since we had space to enjoy ourselves and actually talk without feeling rushed. We tried a few of their drinks including the vanilla chai latte, hot chocolate, and the passion fruit & mango bubble tea with lychee boba. The drinks were definitely a highlight for me and probably my favorite part of the visit. Food-wise, we started with the hash brown loaded fries and beignets, which were both good. For my entree, I had the chicken and French toast with hot honey. My guests ordered the shredded chicken skillet, grits, mac and cheese, potatoes, crispy chicken and stacks, and pancakes. Everything looked good and the chicken dishes seemed to be the most popular at the table. Overall, the food was solid but not anything I'd rave about. My son treated me to breakfast for Mother's Day. Service was fast and attentive. It took quite a few minutes to get a vanilla latte, but it was worth the wait and very delicious! Everything we ordered was really good. The ambiance is casual and seemed to be steadily busy. I really liked the menu options, as they seem to offer something for a variety of eaters. If someone in your party is mobility impaired it is best to probably sit along the front side of the restaurant, so assistive devices won't interfere with the flow of traffic. This location is half empty , yet we still waited 40 minutes because they don't feel like cleaning tables. We decided to wait and eventually got a seat after I kept pointing out about the empty tables and other parties being seated, who had arrived and checked in after me. We immediately ordered and only met our waitress once.. after 40 minutes of waiting for our food I decided to ask and was told it was coming out. I then waited 20 more minutes, over one hour and the food was still not out. Batters & Brunch is a family-run, scratch kitchen, breakfast, brunch, lunch restaurant that closes at 3:30pm during the week at 4pm. They have an R&B playlist. Jelena was our server and she was amazing -- knowledgeable, kind, and attentive. We did a mimosa flight (cucumber, grapefruit and rosemary, pear and cinnamon, plus rose and rosemary). Update on my recent visit: Damn, the service is bad when it's packed. My wait was one hour. Once we were seated we waited about 8-10 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. If it's packed, I don't recommend you go the service will suck. This is my first time coming when it was this busy. On the upside, the food is great. Our waiter greeted us, and the first thing he said was, "Are we ready to order everything all together?" He repeated it and wanted both of us to order everything at once. To me, this was rude after waiting a hour this is the first thing said not cool I hadn't even gotten my drink yet, and he was already rushing us to order food. First time I've experienced that. He also didn't check in on our table much, and I noticed everyone seemed overwhelmed. Even when I asked someone else for napkins, they forgot. I asked our waiter for water twice, and he forgot both times. Another thing I don't agree with is the 15% automatic tip now . What do they do if the service was just bad? There are some nice selections and the fact they had chicken sausage as a breakfast meat option was plus. So I decided to go and check them out. Upon entering the place is nicely designed, simple but elegant. I was greeted and seated immediately upon entering but to longer than I'd like to put in my order which is part of the reason i was going to give a 3 star. Food was prepared just as ordered. My grits were SO dam good which is the reason my review remained a 4 star. Pancakes were average and the chicken sausage was good BUT not the same as advertised on their website (pictures Links not patties) and was the second part of my initial 3 star review but the grits deserved a star by themselves. I came with some friends, it was 3 of us in total. We came straight from the airport to eat here. We got here around 11 on a Sunday. It was pretty packed. The wait time was about 30-45 minutes. It didn't seem that long. So we walked in and the hostess was nice. There were 16 parties ahead of us. So for the wait to be 30 minutes that wasn't bad. The vibe was nice. We chose to eat outside because there was a nice breeze. Our waitress was Jadine. Jadine was soooo nice and super helpful. She gave us recommendations and it started to drizzle so she moved us in the shade so we wouldn't continue getting wet. Honestly Jadine made our time here so enjoyable. Her attitude was great and she was very attentive. Now to the food. This is probably the best brunch food I've had in a very long time. The chicken was so moist. This is so amazing. Very nice welcome in and nicely scheduling our table. We were told 50 minutes but got seated in about 25 minutes. Our server Alaiyah was so great. She took our order correctly and checked in on us a few times. I ordered Steak & Eggs. It comes with potatoes and biscuit, I suggested if I could get grits and croissant instead and server nicely switched it with no extra charge. It took a while to get my order but it was just fine because they freshly cooked the steak well done and it was so delicious, very tasteful and not dry but well done. The grits was in a perfect side bowl. It's creamy and so good texture that I like. The eggs were scrambled just as I expected, good. I also got Cold Vanilla Chi Latte and yes so good. My friend got friend Wings and waffle. The wings were so good we were all so excited that it was not salty it was delicious. I like the waffles they are thinner than I've ever had and taste so good. My other friend got Cabbage, potatoes and mac and cheese. I didn't taste it but she said it was all so good the best was the cabbage. Finally visited Batters and Brunch for the first time! What a treat! When we arrived the wait wasn't long at all, maybe 10 minutes? Once we seated, of course, I usually always opt for the Chicken n Waffles (it's probably the Cali in me!) and these did not disappoint! Chicken was well seasoned, juicy, tender and piping hot. Wow! There was a 40 minute wait for a table of 7 but it all worked out and was definitely worth the wait. From the basic to the exotic, even a near shaped pancake for the little children. Arrived at 11 AM it took overall over 40 mins to get drinks out. After perhaps 55/1hr we received our food. My plate was simple biscuits and gravy.. those biscuits could hold up well against a baseball bat. My sister's lamb chops BURNT -- they remake it just for them to come out RAW. We had to even wait over 30 minutes to get our checks out. I don't understand the " viral " hype over this place. It was unacceptable and the customer service was just plain avoidant, including the manager. I mean a strawberry lemonade for $9?? Just to come 40 mins after order and water down since we saw it sitting on the counter a while. They need better structure when managing the kitchen and front staff. We came here on a Sunday morning, arriving just before 10 am and wow, was that the right call. From then on there was a steady stream of groups arriving to eat keeping every table full. Despite the restaurant being full, the service was still quick and great. We both ordered the shredded chicken skillet and my companion also ordered a side stack of the lemon blueberry pancakes. The skillet was great - well seasoned, there was a considerable amount of meat and it didn't feel as if they loaded the skillet with potatoes. I would have enjoyed it more if it was slightly juicier - I felt like I needed the salsa they brought to the table to make it not as dry, but it was still good. I wasn't as hungry that morning so I had enough for leftovers the next day and it reheated well. I was able to take a bite of the pancakes and they were sweet but not overwhelming. It was a good combination and if there was syrup, I didn't taste it much but it was something I'd try again - likely not two, but just one. We didn't order any drinks, just water but I appreciated the branding on the bottle - check the photos. This is a great addition to this area for brunch - I think it offers something different from the places across the highway and it feels more local -even if it is Chicago-inspired. The waffle is lowkey the the best I've ever had cooked so perfectly soft but a good little crunch and the syrup they use is very good as well.
