There are no lounge chairs or places to lay and relax the body after going in and out of the sauna rooms. First sauna space that doesn't have this. The sauna rooms play music, it's hard to relax and enjoy the heat and relaxation with electronic music playing. There is a mildly warm pool, cold pool, hot pool, steam room, and a couple saunas of different temps. All of this is only one floor and for a pretty expensive price of $73.15 after tax. For not much more, there are spas like Sojo Spa which have several floors of amenities and much more space and options. The one benefit of Bath House is that there is definitely a relaxing, low-light vibe that is a very nice touch. Service (4/5): Overall servers were friendly and helpful but a few dishes were unavailable, you have to go up to the bar, and there is an auto 20% gratuity. I'm really shocked to see Bathhouse's rating on Yelp! I had an absolutely WONDERFUL winter spa day here. The facilities have a wonderful vibe, good use during the week (I imagine it's quite packed on the weekend) and stellar cleanliness. Save your money and go to Flatiron or another spa. I was looking forward to the expansion, but it just means there are more people talking loudly wherever you go. The new saunas are nice, but the layout is awkward since you have to walk up the stairs and down a hall to get to the new spots. I also wish there were more lounge areas to sit and read. There are a few benches but nothing comfortable for long-term reading. Plus it's hard to concentrate with all the noise and loud conversations. Came for the first time during the weekday and decided to get a massage. I decided to do a full body massage with Emma and she was amazing! I checked in an hour earlier and used their amenities but I thought the spa/bathhouse itself is very much ok. It's quite small with only three pools in the middle and three sauna rooms. There's two large marble slab and a few chairs around the area so not much to lounge around but if you don't care about the space then it's still a nice and relaxing place! There's also a restaurant that you can get food from and in your spa clothes and they offer free towels but not bathrobes anymore (must pay $25 for a bathrobe). I also used the saunas and steam rooms which really helped my recovery. After my treatment I sat outside around the plunge pools and read a book. Even that was very relaxing. As long as you are respectful and follow the rule (the main one being no phones), you will be welcome. I had a great time here! I did the day pass ($55) which I think was worth it. I went with a friend, and it was such a lovely way to spend our Friday afternoon! There were some pros and cons to the experience, but I think they balanced out. Pros: Wasn't very busy when we were there. We were often the only people in the sauna or pool. There was a good range of temperatures for both the pools and saunas (low, medium, high). I reaaallyyy loved the cold plunge. It was so invigorating and refreshing. We kept hopping from hot to cold hot to cold. I also really liked the dimmed interior. It made it feel very intimate and cozy. There was also a "multi sensory sauna experience" with essential oils that an employee did in one of the saunas. I wish I could've bought the blood orange one they used! It's also nice that you can stay as long as you want! We stayed for about three hours, and I felt like that was a good amount of time. There are also water fountains and bottle refill stations and plenty of fresh towels you can grab. Cons: Pretty small. I can see how if it were more crowded, it would be pretty uncomfortable. The locker room was also really small and narrow. I felt like there wasn't adequate space to change or move around in there. It also wasn't clear where the slippers were or where to dump used towels/slippers. There could've been better or more obvious signage. Overall, I would come back. I think I definitely got lucky with how empty it was when I was there, otherwise I can see how it could be a different experience. I had a great time though! read more

My daughter and I enjoyed amazing massages on a recent trip to Bathhouse. Both our therapists were super and the quality of the massages were spot on. I actually fell asleep during my massage, which is rare for me. The service is professional and friendly. The bartender was great. After our massages, we sat on the patio and ordered a couple of appetizers. The meatballs were amazing! The vibe of the entire place was relaxing and inviting. The pool area is small but there are several pools. A cold pool, a room temp pool and a hot tub. I believe there's a sauna and steam room as well but I didn't take part in either. I will say it's a very popular spot for a lot of people, and has lots of regulars. I personally think compared to Korean/Chinese spas in NYC this offers way less amenities (only one type of sauna) for a much higher price (but compared to other American spas the price is comparable). There's a food area to eat or I see a lot of people work on laptops. Fun fact, I believe the hot water here is heated by crypto coin mining (machines that create BitCoin are flushed with water so the machinery doesn't overheat, the water gets heated and funneled into their baths). Bathhouse in Williamsburg doesn't protect women. They allow men in the women's lockerooms. I was naked changing into a swimsuit when a man walked into the lockeroom. The staff did nothing about it. When I spoke to the manager last night on a recorded call, he said Bathhouse let's people pick what gender they are. He dismissed me and said "I don't believe a man was in the lockeroom". When I asked how do they protect women from predatory men like this one, the manager simply responded that they don't get into "people's personal business". When I said I won't be returning, he said "okay cool no worries" as if this isn't a legitimate problem. If you don't mind men seeing you naked, you can join Bathhouse. Outside of this, they are overbooked and understaffed. I did the sauna ceremony and during the "lymphatic draining" part people were slapping their sweat all over me. I liked the "sauna master" though who helped me get through my first cold plunge experience. The bartender on the rooftop was sweet and brought our refreshments poolside. My family and I have been going to bathhouses all of my life, this is by far one of the nicer ones (peeps the wrote the 1 star reviews id suggest checking those out to give you a better idea of how bathhouses work). Idk. Most proper bathhouses give out robes like candy. Not here! Ya gotta pay for those. The three steam rooms are steamy, the three pools do their job, but it seems like all the money spent on the aesthetics of the place could have gone to the actual amenities and comforts that make a spa relaxing. If you arrive before 11, you qualify for the $45 day pass, allowing you access to all the facilities. There's 2 saunas (1 hot and one more mellow/infused with essential oils), 1 steam room with aesthetic starlight decor, a hot tub, a room temp tub, and a cold plunge pool! The noise level was not that crazy imo, not crickets but by no means not relaxing. There are ample towels available and nice facilities in the locker rooms- fragrant lotion, face soap and moisturizer, hair dryers, showers, sandals, etc. The cafe was super cute but small portions! That includes the tiny inny binny towels they provide. 2- The people who attend are not there to relax. Ghetto/loud/obnoxious/influencers? All jokes aside, if you're claustrophobic, don't go. It is small, and they pack it to capacity like sardines in a can. 3- The music, not it, ever. At least not for a bathhouse/spa mood. It's lounge/club music = not relaxing. I had a problem with the cleanliness. There was was quite a bit of mold in the shower in the locker room. I found a really large hair ball on the "fresh towels"... also the provided towels were very scratchy and small. I feel like the darkness of the space really covers up how dirty the place actually was. We took a break from the pools since it was feeling a bit crowded, went to the restaurant for a drink & bite to eat , we tried the Tropical & Blood orange juices not bad & the Black hummus toast it was decent. Our intentions before arriving were to make a day out of it & hang out here not the case I think we stayed 2 & half 3 hours maybe & that was pushing it so it feels like we at least did something. As we were finishing up the details to book they told us they had sold it to the people next to us in line and wasn't available anymore. And in the steam room, the same. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. There's way nicer spas for this price. Save your money and take it to a place that actually creates a spa environment. The locker room was packed and this was the first red flag. This place is too small to occupy this many ppl at one time. It was loud and really packed in the pools. Someone even took my slippers and towels from the bench I had them on and used them. I really wanted to love this, but other than my 30-minute Hamman scrub, I felt like the "bath house" experience was lacking. It was overly crowded in the pools and in the saunas. Check-in was not a breeze. I thought they said they didn't accept large groups, but in front of us was a really large group (about like 10 people), and it took them a long time to get registered. They didn't really explain how things worked once you're inside the locker room. You just have to figure it out as you go. The locker room was kinda crowded and the slippers situation wasn't really clear. Once inside the bath level, you'll realize how small it is. The pools were pretty crowded, so expect to just sit there, until people get out for their treatments. At my treatment time, there was a huge crowd waiting in the treatment area. I opted for a Hamman scrub for $140 because all the massages were booked up. You basically strip off your top and they scrub you down with a strong loofa. Then they wash you down and apply CBD oil. The scrub is not for the sensitive skin. My skin was baby smooth after rinsing. After spending about 30 more minutes, we felt like we had to go, because it was getting crowded again. Droves and droves of people in groups, no attempts to quiet voices, or have any type of spa decorum, just a full on social gathering happening in that spa. I was so overstimulated and stressed out because I came here to relax and reconnect with the sound of my own voice, and drop into a meditative state so I could actually enjoy and feel the affects of the amenities I was paying for to use. Unfortunately I couldnt even hear my own voice or relax over the din of people talking. Extremely crowded as well, everywhere I went I felt like I was in someone's way, in the locker rooms especially. Very, very strange and disembodied experience. I feel like people come to spas to relax and unwind, I've worked at several and this was the exact opposite of that. I've never experienced anything like this. If your idea of fun is coming in with a huge group of people you haven't spoken to in a while and wanna catch up with, so loud in fact that everyone can hear you (bonus points if you're a group of 6+ tech bros that don't have a care in the world who hears you or whoyou're disturbing), this would be the PERFECT place for you. My husband booked us a couples massage for my birthday, and we were looking forward to spending the rest of the afternoon hanging out in what I assumed would be a calm, relaxing atmosphere. The massage was great, but the place itself left a lot to be desired. Other than the guy at the front desk and the massage therapists it was hard to find anyone who worked there, so if you had any questions you were out of luck. The locker room/shower/bathroom area was TINY, and there weren't enough lockers for everyone who was there. I had to wait fifteen minutes at 1:00 on a Monday afternoon - can't imagine what it's like on a weekend day! They also don't give you a robe to use while you're there. The actual bathhouse area downstairs was also much smaller than expected, certainly smaller than it looks on their website. The pools were crowded and there was really nowhere to sit and relax. The music was also distracting, with a "trance" vibe at a too-high volume. It would have been nice if there was someone to pick up the towels that get left lying around the pool area. The saunas and steam rooms were really nice though, relaxing and comfy, although again with the off-putting (to me) music. The "aufgass" ritual in the tropical sauna was great. Our massage therapists were very good as well. It seemed like most of the other guests were very young (25-30) and it might be a better vibe for that generation. I would definitely go back for the restaurant as the food was delicious. Everything is recommended to be shared and are small plates . I had the sweet potato salad (cold) and the sweet potato ( warm) , the tuna tartare , the wagyu and the chicken (amazing ). To end the night I had the olive oil cake with ice cream - so good ! Although everything was small , it was filling . It's all simple yet gourmet style food . As for the spa / bath house area . *COVID Era Review* Online Booking: Explore All Options Checked for appointments a week ahead and noticed several things were not available for two people at once, but as I explored more booking options, I noticed bath times were still available, and some individual signature treatments were still available. I ended up making my booking on Friday morning for services Saturday evening with the help of recommendations from the staff for making the desire times and preferences work. Phone Help: Great Being a little confused- I called to ask more about what kind of treatments two people could do at once and the staff was very helpful about guiding me into a booking solution with the practitioners they had on hand that would place two people together at the end of their treatments. They said they had an esthetician and a massage therapist available - and recommended a Scrub & Facial for one and a Bathhouse Express Stretch, Focus Massage, and Scrub for the other. This placed the scrub and the facial in the same room at the end of the individual treatments so we didn't need to search for each other afterward (not that there would be much searching in the small pool area- but we didn't know the size of the facilities in advance.) 8pm Signature Treatments: We arrived at 7pm to check in and use the pools in advance of our treatments. We were given instructions for the space and how long we had before and after our treatment times, and little small wristbands to wear. - Scrub & Facial - Erika the esthetician received high reviews for her care, only complaint was needing to be on the marble slab for that. - Bathhouse Express- Andrew was great at talking through everything before he did it, and is able to apply a lot of pressure as needed, and was very receptive to feedback. Locker Rooms & Showers: Great The facilities felt clean and well maintained. Lockers use analogue combination locks you set yourself. There are USB charging plugs in the locker- but I didn't use it. It does seem they are trying to balance protocols with capacity. Masks were required during treatments except during facial, but were not openly enforced in the pool, sauna, or steam rooms. Some people wore them in pools, some didn't... all people did their best to space out and social distance while trying not to overfill small tubs or steam/saunas. Guest Vibe: Chill & intimate The music, ambiance, and lighting make for a chill environment where low level conversations may happen, but not loud laughter or splashing. Friends sit close together for conversation. Couples cuddled but it never felt like anyone crossed a line or became inappropriate. Nice modern ambiance and great sauna space with dipping pools. The best part, my massage was amazing!! The masseuse was so experienced, she honed in on my tight hamstrings (I'm a runner) and shoulders and did a beautiful job easing out the stress. It is a younger vibe. I'm mid 40's and definitely felt older than most, but I was with two girlfriends which made it enjoyable. I would definitely go back for the massage. read more
