This store is blatently raising their prices in order to mark them down. I saw they had covered a sticker on their earrings with a price of $16 and marked them down 70%. I decided to peel off the sticker and saw it was originally supposed to be $10. This is disgusting and has to end! read more

I gave a poor Yelp! rating for the Bass Shoe Outlet in Vacaville a few weeks ago (which I only do if it is earned). Yesterday I went to the Bass Shoe Outlet in Gilroy, looking for the same shoes that I was unable to get in Vacaville. The difference between the two stores is like night and day. Being Monday of Labor Day weekend, it was a very busy place. I was immediately greeted at the door, I told the woman what I was looking for and she led me to the section where the Weejuns are. She introduced me to Robert who was in charge of that section. Robert proceeded to run in the back to find the shoes I needed to try on. He did this two or three times, always with a smile. He was helping other customers at the same time he was helping me, but it didn't seem like it. He found everything that I needed. I went to the counter up front to pay for my two pair of shoes, and was dismayed at the long line. However, the two cashiers were efficient and moved the line along very well. When it came time for me to pay, my cashier Norma apologized for the wait. I told her that it wasn't her fault and that I appreciated her concern. This is a store with well trained and engaged employees. Job well done to both Robert and Norma. I appreciate their competency and their high standard of service. I'll be coming back to this store next time in in the market for Weejuns. read more

I used to own a pair of Sunjun sandals eons ago and was surprised to see that they still carry it! It's outdated now but they were very comfortable. Surprisingly, they didn't have any in my size in the color I was looking for, so it must still sell well. Found a new pair of sandals in a more contemporary style which hubby says was less "old lady" looking. Shoes were 50% off one pair or buy 1 and get 2 pairs free (lesser priced ones were free). They're better made than the popular flip-flops which I find don't offer enough arch support or toe protection because they're too thin. Bass offers one of those free cards now where you register and it accumlates points (like a Safeway card) towards discounts on purchases, if you're really into Bass shoes and products. read more

I needed a new pair of loafers, so I was hoping to get a pair of Bass Weejuns for a nice price here. Each shoe had a little sign under it with the name of the shoe and three boxes - Medium, Wide, and Narrow. I have a narrow foot, so this seemed like a great idea. Just find the little tag with the narrow box checked, and I'm in business. Just one problem - they didn't stock a single men's style in narrow. Not one. Now I know Bass makes a loafer in a narrow size. So why not stock a single narrow shoe in their outlet? Makes no sense to me, especially with their teasing little signs. read more

The store is okay. I ended walking out of it with three pairs of dress shoes. If the prices marked on the shoes are their normal prices, no way I'd touch them without a good sale. The sale going during my visit was by one pair, get two free. Personally, I'd prefer by one, get one free, with the same per shoe price. Most of their shoes were priced $110 or $120, which some costing slightly less or slightly more. Since I got two for free, the $40 per pair cost was reasonable. My complaint is regarding the quality of the product. I bought a pair of $70 boots (on sale from $120 or so) that were what I thought to be a good value. They were a pair of brown boots with a nice wingtip style and a high top which I really liked, but after probably two to three months of semi regular wear (3 days a week) the right boot popped some stitching in the front.. and now is almost completely detached on the right side... I had passed the point of return so I am looking for someone who can stitch them up but I am overall very disappointed with the quality of stitching... I will say that the boat shoes I bought this summer have held up fairly well with my regular use, but they are looking quite faded. I hope some high ups at Bass see this review and make some changes! Misleading pricing. Suitcase marked up as final price $99, when taken to the till, rang up at $130. When I queried with cashier, they said the lower price ticket was an offer from last week and the current offer was for 40% off rrp, which is $130. Shoes, shoes, and more shoes! Most of the shoes were on sale. You just had to wander through each aisle to see what was the sale price. I found some very cute brown ballet flats. However, there were some black pen markings on the side of left shoe. The salesperson called the other Bass store in the area to see if there was a better quality shoe. Now that is some service! Unfortunately no luck, but I did receive an additional 10% off for the flaw. It doesn't hurt to ask for additional discounts! Total spending: $17.53. When an outlet store is split into two parts, that usually means the selection would be bigger. And in the Bass shoe outlet, that seems to be the case. The store mostly has dress and casual shoes. And the shoes are usually marked with "x" percent off, followed by another "y" percent off, and (if you come in at the right time) an extra "z" percent off. That's a lot of number-crunching to do if you are looking for a deal, but thankfully they make it a little easier with a table grid of deals located throughout the store. Also, if you are a fan of Bass, don't forget to enroll in the free membership program, because it will send you coupons depending on how much you spend. PRODUCT REVIEW: I bought 3 pairs of shoes at the outlet 4 hours away from home and realized that all three were defective. The right sides of each pair were taller by a 4 millimeters where it hits the Achilles. I was wondering why the back of my right foot was so jacked after wearing these. Be careful. You risk getting some shoes that won't last. I bought a pair of GH Bass Earth Altitude hiking shoes and the rubber soles wore out extremely quickly revealing air pockets in the rubber. This is extremely poor quality and not worth even the low price paid (I think $35). I would have been better off paying twice as much for a pair at REI (much better quality and amazing return policy). On the other hand I also got a pair of Bass Dunn leather dress shoes which seem to be of much better quality. read more

Great store, good service. The quality could be much better though. My very nice leather casual shoes prematurely cracked on the sole without very much wear. To be fair they are a few years old, however I rarely wore them. The bottom cracked wide open and I started noticing a squishing noise and my sock was all wet! I like this store...there are actually two of them at the outlet mall in Gilroy. One is smaller than the other and the bigger one has clothing and accessories like belts and wallets and things like that. The sales are good some are better than others 55%-85% off the. I was able to get a pair of nice blue boaters, another pair of boaters, 2 pairs of shoes for my daughter, a pair of shorts and 4 pairs of socks that are sweet, I managed to get all that for less than $120.00. The smaller store was kind of a mess and you had to walk over and around boxes which was kind of difficult with a stroller. The larger store was immaculate all the clothing was folded neatly and the asiles were clear. The staff at voth stores was great, friendly and helpful. I will be back for sure. read more

Like the other reviewers said, there are 2 Bass stores located here. The store my review is directed to is the one that sells just shoes. Whenever I go to the Gilroy Outlets, I usually stop by Bass and I have never had a problem. I walked in, was greeted by a female worker and saw a sale sign "3 socks for $10." Took some socks and started walking around to look at shoes. As I was walked towards the shoes, a male employee asked "Are you finding everything alright, SIR?" I continued to walk past him and looked back to see who he was takling to as he kept staring at me. I then realized that he was talking to me. I don't know if he's blind, stupid, or maybe both that he cannot tell the difference between a woman or a man. Anyway, I continued to walk and ignore him. I found a pair of boots for 35 bucks and decided to carry it around along with my socks to see if I could find anything else. Was approached AGAIN by the same male employee and he asked if I wanted him to hold my shoes and socks up at the counter. I replied with a no and that I was going to walk to the register anyway. Then I started to feel like he was following me around the store. Doesn't he have anything better to do such as asking other customers for help or organizing shoes or maybe following THEM around the store?! Stood in line with my shoes and that same male employee rung me up. He was very rude, did not smile, and said to me "You're not going to buy the socks?" He started rummaging through my shoe box making sure I did not stuff them into the shoe or under the shoe wrap. He made it sound like I might have stolen them. I glared at him and pointed at my mother who was standing in line holding my socks and all he could say was "Oh." I mean seriously? You think I would steal 3 thick ass socks that's only 10 bucks and stuff them into my small ass purse?! He was very distracted. So distracted from his coworkers ringing up other people that he had to check if the shoe size I was purchasing was right. I don't think he even bothered to check if I had 1 left shoe and 1 right shoe. Overall, I will continue to shop here. Hopefully, I will never have to deal with this ever again. read more

I left the Clarks outlet disappointed and came into Bass and left with 2 pairs of shoes. I was aided by a nice sales person who was not shy about telling me all about the specials. I believe that her name was Belinda. I even got a discount for being a AAA member! After everything was calculated, I got a pair of $90 boots for around $15. Thanks to Belinda, I had a great experience! I would definitely go back next time I need some shoes! read more
