Had a great experience with Willy, the owner. His knowledge, passion for running, and all the stories about local athletes really brought back my own excitement for running. Even better, my son got hooked on running too after spending time there and even registered for a local run! Picked up a new pair of ASICS and I'm ready to put them to the test during my next marathon. Great local shop, great people, and a place that genuinely loves the running community. Highly recommend! read more

Athletic Performance - Shoe Stores Near Me - Los Gatos, California

This has been my go to shop for athletic shoes since high school, I've gotten many pairs of shoes here over the years and each shopping experience has been great. The one on one customer service is fantastic. They really take the time to help you figure out what you're looking for and find the shoe that will be the best fit. They don't rush you at all, and don't try to upsell you on the more expensive shoe, it's really all about what works for your feet and your needs. They always even encourage you to take them outside to see how they feel on the pavement! They have a huge variety of brands, styles, and colors, so you're almost guaranteed to find the shoes that you want. And if they don't have it, they'll order it for you. This is and will continue to be my athletic shoe shop for as long as it stands. read more

I dropped in to buy a pair of trail shoes while passing through Los Gatos, and the owner, Willie, did an amazing job of helping me find the perfect pair. He was friendly, courteous, and extremely knowledgeable. I got a great pair of nice new Hoka Mafate's which I can't wait to try out! Highly recommend dropping by if you're in the area! read more

Employee Caesar was super helpful in finding the right insole and shoes for my feet. Low pressure, high knowledge.

The best selection of athletic shoes. Knowledgeable owners with dedication to finding you the best shoe for your needs. There is a reason we keep coming back for 30 years ! read more

Hands down the best experience I've had buying running shoes. As a walker, I'm accustomed to staff at other stores maybe being a little judgy. Zero superior attitude here. Willie was helping another customer but asked if I needed help and used the time while the customer left the store to try out the shoes (!) to pull a couple of styles for me. He gave me real answers to questions about fit that helped me decide. I'm used to walking into a store and having one or two size 11 women's shoes to choose from. Athletic Performance had 4-5 in multiple colors. I rarely get to choose a color - I have to buy whatever fits. They even have size 11.5. I ended up buying two pairs and Willie gave me a discount. Their prices are already lower than I'm used to so that was an extra sweet finish to a great experience. read more

Great store for competitive running shoes - huge selection and friendly staff. Parking is a little tricky but store carries a lot of inventory and sizes! read more

Great customer service. They make sure you get the right shoe. Great experience 10/10

We have been coming here for many years. This place has such a great selection of running and athletic shoes, we can always find the style and size we want - which is getting to be a bonus considering so many stores are reducing their inventory. The owner is very knowledgeable and since both of us need to wear orthotics, his understanding of the shoe design is helpful. read more

Nice experience turned sour. Bought some running shoes for my daughter and was happy with the service and advice. Left the store thinking I would recommend to everyone else on the team. Problem is when we got home there was a spike missing. Called and they were apologetic and suggested I come in and get a replacement. But when I did that, they were not helpful. Wanted to charge for a new set of spikes that were completely different to the ones that came with the Nike shoe. Eventually they gave them for free but not the outcome I was expecting. read more

I have been coming here for at least 25 years for my running shoes, walking shoes, sandals, basically all my athletic needs. They have always been very knowledgeable and helpful, reliable, and fair priced. I super appreciate their help. They have gone out of their way to get me the shoes I requested. I love that they are still around all these years. I will hopefully never go anywhere else for my shoes. read more

I've been coming here for years. Plus I love supporting local small businesses. The customer service is great. They always have excellent recommendations for what you're looking for which makes picking out the right shoe that much more simple and fast. They also have a sale stand out front so if you can score a shoe in your size from the sale section you'll really get a good deal. I highly recommend checking this place out. read more

Athletic Performance - Got some new hiking shoes treating myself for my birthday - Shoe Stores Near Me - Los Gatos, California

It seems that every time I get a gait analysis at Sports Basement the result is different so I stopped by this little store while walking my dog one day. They welcomed him in with open arms and gave me knowledgeable, helpful, no-pressure assistance. I'll definitely be coming back here next time I need shoes. I walk anywhere from 5-10 miles every single day so good shoes are very important and this little store delivers! I probably spent a bit more than I would have online or at a big box store with sales but it's totally worth it. The shoes they recommended could not be more perfect! read more

Athletic Performance - Two World Record Holders! - Shoe Stores Near Me - Los Gatos, California

Family run store , stopped in here on a whim because we needed running shoes! Tyler and his dad were so helpful and helped us find exactly what we needed! They had a huge variety which was really nice too! Highly recommend this store!! read more

Really great place - was looking for some great running shoes and running wear and they helped out. Really loved their choices!!

The man working there would rather chitchat than selling products. We asked to try a smaller size for my son. He told us he'd get it for us. So We were patiently waiting for him to finish chitchatting "forever" with another man. Finally he's done talking and told us he didn't have the small sizes under size 2. My son is 5. It's pretty clear he's nowhere near a size 2. He could have told us in 2 seconds. Extremely inconsiderate of others' time and patience. Sad that we want to support local businesses but this business needs to up the basic human respect, let alone customer service! read more

The people that work here obviously love running and I love that they love running! The people here are super friendly, generous, and helpful. I've come in pretty often to browse their selection whenever I hung out around downtown LG and bought shoes a couple of times. These shoes can be pretty expensive, but it is definitely worth the extra money and this store gives out discounts for the pricier ones pretty often. I dragged my boyfriend over for some trail runners and they ordered the pair that he wanted since they didn't have it in stock at the time. If you need running shoes, just come here and they'll go above and beyond to help you find the right ones. Support your local running store! read more

Wonderful small business with great selection. The staff are approachable and highly knowledgeable and take the time to help you find the right shoes based on your level of experience running/walking/hiking. read more

I dropped in here hoping they'd have my socks... but sadly apparently their Ballega socks are so popular they can't keep up with ordering them because they didn't have a single size small in the house. I'm a bit doubtful on that and would hazard a guess someone forgot or there was a delay in shipping, but I'm so used to an entire wall of selection (Athletic Outpost in WC) and being greeted upon entry that walking in and not getting either really ruined my visit. I probably won't be back since Walnut Creek is closer to me and I wasn't that impressed with what I saw. Sorry AP. read more

I have been buying shoes here for years and it has always been a positive experience. They have a great selection of shoes and they are quite knowledgeable. The gentleman that helped me on my last visit, named Fred, was kind and he listened and brought me exactly what I had been searching for. He was exceptional! This is the value of buying shoes locally from an experienced store. They know what shoes are better for pronation, arch support, whether they run true to size or not, etc. read more

Great selection from this small business! This store was recommeded by my chiropractor (Dr Mc Murray on Winchester). Willy, the owner, gave me more personal service than I've ever received at a shoe store. He asked me questions and then suggested I choose from two lines of shoes that he knew would meet my needs. His prices are very reasonable. First time I've been able to wear brand-new shoes without taking time to break them in. I'm recommending Athletic Performance to family, friends and anyone who's looking to get new shoes for running, walking, lounging - or insoles, athhletic clothing, socks, supplements and/or snacks. read more

One of my New Years Resolutions is to continue to keep off the 30 lbs I lost in 2006 due to regular exercise and better eating habits. Thought it would be cool to kick off 2009 with a new pair of gym shoes to dance in, Zumba in and also wear at the gym. I was kindly greeted by the staff today and was directed to the right type of shoe for my needs. Tried it on and really felt it fit well but I was not in love with any of the styles I tried on. The one I did like in darker blue was out of stock for my size (darn!) I was surprised that the prices were pretty reasonable. I was expecting to spend about $100 on these new shoes and their prices were way lower then that. I am sad that I didn't find the right shoe here but they do have great customer service. They have been in business for 19 years and are very proud of that. I definitely want to take my business to a Mom and Pop type joint and this is the perfect place for it. I'll definitely come back in the future...just wish I wasn't so darn picky about my shoes!!! *pout* read more

Best running shop in town. Exceptional help with shoes, always. Latest modes and they can order anything you need from their catalogs. These guys are gems. read more

If you'd like to be spoken to like your a complete jerk then this is the store for you ... this was from the woman working. When she ASKED what I was looking for I received a rude rebuttal. I've been in here before and both my boyfriend and I have purchased shoes because we knew exactly what we wanted, it was not for the customer services but today was beyond .... bye bye Athletic Performance. read more

While we were strolling around Los Gatos for the doggie costume parade, we stopped to look at a sidewalk display here. There were several shoes on sale, and my guy and I were both in need of new gym shoes. Since nothing was priced, I stuck my head in to ask for some assistance, and a very nice and helpful guy came out, answered some questions and even allowed us to bring our dog inside the store. Both my husband and I ended up buying new shoes, (not the ones on display though.) We were given a percentage off both pairs, and left feeling we got a pretty good deal. Good service, good pricing, and new workout shoes, yay! read more

A real gem. I've been here twice now, and both times got extensive individual expert attention. Was able to test-run a number of different shoes on the sidewalk outside and get an assessment of how they affected my body mechanics. I was not steered towards the most expensive option and paid slightly less for my final choice than I would have online. read more

Christina was AWESOME. Efficient, intuitive, thorough, and obviously experienced. I've never before walked out of a store with running shoes I had NO doubts about. Perfect fit. Highly recommend. Worth the drive! read more

We wandered into the shop, lured in by their table of shoes out front boasting 40% off. We were amazed by the hometown shop experience. The sales person analyzed my husbands' feet, and in less than one minute diagnosed that he was wearing the wrong size/width shoe. He brought out something that my husband absolutely loved- so we bought it at full price based on the service. The man who rang us up, (the owner,) offered my husband a free pair of socks since we bought something not on clearance. Exceptional service. Being a millennial, I came home and checked online to see if we had paid a fair price on the shoes. The same shoes sell online at asics.com for $1 more than we paid today- plus shipping fees! So blown away by the incredible service, great quality of goods, an fair prices. Thank you for making my husband's feet happy, and delivering service not often found these days. read more

Incredible! Completely solved my joint pain! 5/5 would recommend 100% I have bad knees and ankles due to different surgeries so when I ran anything over half a mile my knee and ankle would be in siring pain, needing to be rested for days after before they would function correctly again. I went to Athletic Performance and the owner helped me understand the different strengths of different shoes and helped me pick the right style to help my issues. I tried a few on and ran around in them to see which feel I liked best and I got a pair he helped me decide on. He even gave me an incredible price for the shoes too! I just finished my first run in 5 years that hasn't caused me pain! I could not more highly recommend Athletic Performance, he knows his stuff and will get you the perfect shoe for what you're looking for! read more

Christine and Fred are awesome! They know their shoes and if they don't have it, they order them for you. Why go to one of those places warehouse style where the employees know nothing about shoes and what would be most suited for you if you can go take a little ride to see Athlete"s Performance and get fitted to a shoe that is truly good for you? Christine Kennedy is a runner and she knows running shoes, what is best you can try on your shoes go for a little run around the block to see if they are the shoes of you. Ms Kennedy and her outfits every member our family, if she does not the particular shoe needed, she orders it for, This is only place to in the area. Thank you Christine read more

These guys and Chris are the real deal. The shop is small, bare bones. They have everything, they know everything. They support numberous kids programs. http://www.athletic-performance.com/ Extremely knowledgeable staff...these people know runners' needs. While it is a bit expensive, know that you will be sold a pair of shoes fit to your foot and exercise style. Friendly service. This store was recommended by a staff at Sports Basement, when there was no spike shoes available for a track & field athlete (my kid). Sure enough the staff at here Athletic Performance was knowledgeable and spotted several suitable pairs for my kid. They had selections, too. We were glad that he (forgot his name, sorry) gave us a good tip in selecting the socks as well. That kind of info is important for the beginner athlete. We, in a few weeks, came back here because the spikes of the shoes became dull and one fell off. I knew this happened due to our poor maintenance, however, the lady (didn't ask her name, sorry) took care of this, while she was assisting other customers; multi task player! She didn't become nasty or whatever though we arrived at last minute before the store closing. And the spikes weren't charged much. : ) My kid and I are pretty happy with this store and recommend the class and club. We definitely come back to this store again for any athletic shoes needs. read more

It's super hard to find a running shoe for a 1st grader. My son has been in Run Club and runs about 6 miles a week in his shoes, and he previously had Nike Free's that wore out significantly in a very shore period of time. We tried Road Runner first, but they only had two good running shoes for kids, and one of the two didn't even have his size. Then we tried The Running Revolution (RR), but they didn't carry kid sizes at all. Next was Sports Basement, but they only had the cookie-cutter athletic shoes that were not for solid cross country/sprinting running. RR referred us to Athletic Performance, and you can't beat that they open at 8am on Saturday! We were able to wake up, pick up a great pair of shoes for my son after being given a selection of various options, and still head out to his soccer game that morning! Best part is the time they opened for early-birds like me, but the second best part is that kids receive 20% off! So we scored with some new running shoes that are HIS style, not the style the store decided, and he was off and running the same day. Thank you! We will be back in six months :) read more

Every runner, however novice, deserves to get the correct shoes fitted at a knowledgeable running store. Love this place. They know their stuff very well and outfit the local schools' athletic programs. They have a great selection and super knowledgeable staff. Every running shoe that I picked up here has been better than the last because they keep adapting their recommendations based on my changing needs. Price-wise they are competitive.
