The location of…read morethis well-known Japanese/French bakery was unusual in that it's isolated in a corner of the El Camino Plaza. I had expected the business to be in a more high volume area, however a benefit of their corner spot was that the parking lot had plenty of spaces. There's no indoor seating, but outdoor tables were set up along the north and east perimeters of the building. I was by myself at this latest visit, and it was close to the end of the day so the inventory was quite depleted. There was no line at all which was not a surprise. The famous Strawberry Croissants and prepackaged items were on refrigerated display to the left when you walked in. As the service counter rounded a corner, there were more fresh baked goods on display before you reached a register. Across from the registers were shelves containing bags of fresh bread products. I bought a Strawberry Croissant, a Sticky Bun, a Ham and Cheese Croissant, and an Apple Croissant. The quality of the pastry dough was very good, and I could see why the Strawberry Croissant was a favorite with the customers. The croissants were light and flakey, and the powdered sugar added a delicate topping to the strawberry version. If I were to rate on just the Strawberry Croissant, then it would be five stars. My overall rating was downgraded because of the customer traffic flow. The lines can be optimized so that if you wanted to buy a six-pack of the Strawberry Croissants and/or anything prepackaged, then a separate queue should be arranged for those customers. The cafeteria trays were of limited use if you were not getting a large number of items. As you advanced in the queue, other products had to be requested from a worker behind the counter and then those were not placed on the tray. Ultimately, I think they can configure the operation to more efficiently handle the higher volume periods of the day.

I saw that they had a promo for a free milk pudding, and I tried to register for an account, and my friends and I ordered enough to make the cutoff, but then the guy at the register said that the account had to be another day old before I could use that promo sadly. We ordered the strawberry milk mochi, the mango tango, and the mango pomelo sago milk. All of these were delicious, and I really liked the smoothness of the mochi in my strawberry drink compared to 3cat's mochi. Drinks came out decently fast, and overall good service. Would come again next time I drop by the airport!

I then grabbed a knife and fork to cut into the stack of pancakes and was astonished by how... for a lack of better word, fluffy they were. Upon first bite, I expected a rush of sugar to register after a few seconds of chewing. However, that sensation never came. The pancakes were just the right level of sweet. A few minutes later, the plates were completely cleared and I was back to suffering from again reaching full capacity and thought to myself, "when will I ever learn?". All in all, great hospitality from staff, clean and upbeat ambiance, and most importantly excellent dessert items that were easy to consume without the feeling of developing instantaneous diabetes after finishing. You should really come later at night." I'm used to bakeries selling out later in the day but I guess it's opposite here. As if it couldn't get worse, I asked her if there are any coffees she recommended, and she said "viet coffee." I then said viet coffee is usually too strong for me and asked if there were any other recommendations and she doubled down and used a horrible tone to say "I already said I recommend the viet coffee." Therefore I opted to just not order coffee at this time. I ended up still ordering 2 cookies: miso toffee which was too firm and the ube coconut which actually was well balanced and had a nice coconut filling. Service was very friendly when I walked in and when I order the classic Halo Halo, I could tell that they took time to make it with lots of care. First impression of the Halo Halo was that it tasted very refreshing. Despite all the ingredients inside, it was not overly sweet. The Ube ice cream had great flavor, the slush base provided that refreshness, and the textual contrast of the cornflakes providing that perfect crunch was actually the star of the dessert for me. Round it out with some flavored jellies at the bottom along with jackfruit and you have yourself a well-rounded dessert. I can see myself coming back here to try their other offerings (including their $3 special on certain teas...)
