I had a Free Birthday Scoop reward to claim on my Baskin-Robbins account. With so many Baskin-Robbins in the area, I chose this one since it was on the way to where I was planning to pick up dinner. First and foremost, don't get this location on Atlantic Ave confused with the location by the now-closed Vons in the Bixby Knolls Shopping Center. This Baskin-Robbins is in Bixby PLAZA on the southwest corner of Atlantic and 36th. CVS is the anchor store there, but Baskin-Robbins is on the other end of that strip mall, adjacent to Atlantic. I made sure to clarify the location when I gave them a call to confirm they would honor the birthday scoop. A couple reviews of the *other* Baskin-Robbins said that location doesn't honor the birthday scoop, a confuzzling mind boggler as I believe such a dishonorable act reflects upon the stinginess of a grumpy owner/manager. This location, fortunately, does honor the birthday scoop, but the girl over the phone (Amerie?) mentioned I'd need to show ID. Okay, I guess. When I got there, there was already another customer inside the shop deciding on what to get, but there was luckily a second employee, Amerie, to assist me and answer my questions. There were about 3 ice cream chests that ran the length of the shop, so you have plenty of different flavors to choose from! I thought about the Oreo 'n Cold Brew flavor, but when I asked if it had caffeine in it, Amerie answered affirmatively. It was about 6 PM when I went, and I definitely didn't want caffeine at that time of day. They do have two flavors that are NSA (No Sugar Added): Caramel Turtle Truffle and Pineapple Coconut. However, I've tried both before and was willing to try something sweeter even though I had been trying to cut down on sweets. The Reese's Peanut Butter Cup was calling my name because Reese's have been my favorite chocolate candy ever since I was a kid. The tub of Reese's was just about full, which almost made me wonder if nobody liked it as much? I was more than willing to give it a try, however! Amerie asked if I'd like a cone or a cup, but I went with a regular cup, though it confused her a bit when I accidentally called it a bowl instead. She also offered a lid as well as a takeout bag, both of which I accepted even though I would have been willing to sit inside at one of the few empty tables by the windows. As I went up to scan my rewards code, Amerie asked to see my ID. But then she muttered that she needed to write down my name and birthdate on a slip of paper. I didn't think much of it at the time after going through a pretty long and tough week, so I was like whatever. After I enjoyed my birthday scoop, I couldn't help but wonder why would they even need to keep track of my birthdate? I've been to several other Baskin-Robbins before, but this is the first time I've been asked to do this. If I had known that she'd need to write down that information first, I probably would have chosen a different Baskin-Robbins to go to as well as a different place to get dinner at. As for the ice cream itself, I took it back to my car to eat. I liked it! I could definitely taste the Reese's in the ice cream, though I thought there could have been a little more flavor without fringing into the "too much good is no good" zone. The pink spoon I was given was small, but surprisingly sturdy enough to use for my takeout dinner that evening. However, I didn't get to fully enjoy that scoop because I kept wondering why they needed to write down my name and birthday when the other locations I've visited before didn't do this. I sent in an inquiry to their customer service team, who passed it onto the team overseeing that shop and requested them to contact me. But get this, it was the *other* location on Atlantic that tried to reach out to me, so even they get their locations confused. I was also offered a receipt, which doesn't always happen when you redeem a free reward, and on the bottom of the receipt, there's a survey code where if you fill out the survey, you can save $1 on your next purchase of $4+. It's similar to what Dunkin' does on their receipts where you can earn a free donut with a drink purchase. This doesn't come as a surprise because Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin' are owned by the same company, hence why my Baskin-Robbins receipt looked exactly like a Dunkin' receipt! With Baskin-Robbins being a dime a dozen, I don't foresee a return visit to this location. It was nice to try, but my next birthday scoop will be redeemed at a different shop instead. read more

I like this Baskin-Robbins, but they advertise the app but don't let you use it at this location. I can use it to accumulate points but can never cash in rewards. Yet they advertise it on their windows and at check out. This is the second time I've come in to use a reward and have been denied the perk that comes with shopping here. When I ask the staff why it's advertised but not allowed use they "just don't accept it here". I wouldn't mind not using it but then don't advertise. This review is due to being ripped off at this location. The cashiers are friendly and all but disappointed with how the incident was handled. I went in with a $40 gift card and made a purchased for 38 and some change. According to the girls it never went thru. It did because my balance was then at 1 dollar and some change she scanned it a 2nd time. (Now my card is at 0) she then says it's not going thru "No funds available" .. yeah no sh** so then I proceed to pay with my debit and told them I would follow up. Well according to the gift card customer service rep I was charged twice & the app confirms I was charged for those items at this location. This wasn't enough for the store manager to reimburse me or believe me. So now I have to file a complaint with corporate and wait to see if they can kindly reimburse the Gift card. Just be careful when using baskin gift cards I suggest save the card info on the app first or show them the balance before they scan it so they don't steal from you. read more

First of ALL my wife LOVES ice cream & BR31 has Always been on point . As soon as we walked in nice , clean store very nice options on the wall to see what you're into or willing to try . My son & wife both wanted ice cream so we stopped by my son got a signal cone scoop & my wife wanted a shake she asked for it on the thicker side - the 31 Flavor employee was spot on very happy young girl & you can tell they were hustling. I was happy that we made the choice to come here . As we were leaving they both smiled and said have a good evening. We jump in my truck & my wife said oh can I get a pint of ice cream? I ordered a birthday cake and it exceeded my expectation. It was beautifully decorated and communicating with Chanthra about my vision of the cake-dude, she totally got me. I was undecided which Ice cream to go with the chocolate cake so she gave me a sample of the snickers and it was amazing together. My teenage sister had seconds and everyone was asking me what was the flavor and really enjoyed it as opposed to the typical cookies n cream. The only thing, I just wish more music notes would have been around the cake on the white parts but no biggie. The cake was really cool. Thanks to the staff for the great communication. I love ice cream all kinds of ice cream and I'm loyal to my local Baskin Robbins store. My take on the ice cream. If I hadn't been a longtime customer I wouldn't be able to compare the quality of the ice cream that they serve presently to the deliciousness that was Baskin Robbins back in the day. I remember smooth creamy ice cream that was thick and rich and the butter pecan had whole pecans, strawberry cheesecake had real pieces of crust and cheesecake with swirls of strawberry sauce and pistachio actually had real pistachios. And don't get me wrong I still have my favorites and I'll always enjoy them but I can't help but miss the way things used to be. The quality of the ice cream is still amazing the scoops thicker and they have so much more from which to chose that in itself is headache to this gal and I end up with a few scoops of the new flavors to enjoy on my Netflix chill days. My favorites flavors: Cherry - which I like to call bing cherry it's thick and creamy with pieces of real cherry throughout I'll have two scoops. Vanilla my all time favorite. Butter pecan nice and rich. Ricky road I love the mix of marshmallows almonds and the rich taste of dark chocolate. Pecan pralines is nice too but it's a bit sweet so I pair this one with a scoop of vanilla. Rainbow sherbet I love it mixed with vanilla For a 50/50 sweet and sour taste. My seasonal favorite is egg nog and peppermint. I enjoy a banana split once or twice a year with Rocky road, pistachio and cherry ice cream hot chocolate and caramel sauce on the side thank you very much and absolutely no to whipped cream and nuts. Banana royal is delicious and just the right size when I want a single scoop with fresh bananas and sauce. Staff and store: The kids that work here are a nice friendly crew and it's always well stocked with cakes ice cream cones and pre packed quarts. The store is always nice and clean and that is a plus. BR is BR, you know what you are getting, the flavors are consistent across all the locations. What is different though, is the service. I love this Long Beach location, everyone here is always friendly and fast. This is starting to become my go-to post lunch dessert stop before heading back to work. Went inside to pick up a small ice cream cake for my little brother. Visited 4/17/2021 4PM Food: The ice cream cake was well made. Was $30 dollars but it was a decent cake. Customer Service: The staff here are efficient and fast workers. I was inside for about maybe 2 mins bought the cake and left no small talk needed when I'm in a hurry. Cleanliness: This store is has closed off tables and chairs so people can't sit down because of Covid safety measures. It was two days before my b/f's birthday party and I had no cake! I wanted to get a photo cake but I didn't know where to get them. I tried Albertson's bakery but they close at 8pm. It was 8'clock and I was getting desperate until my sister suggested Baskin Robbins on Ximeno. I went to their website to see what kind of cake options I had. They had advertised a yummy fudge crunch cake that made me drool! Now that I knew what I wanted, I called the BR on Ximeno. They quoted me $48 for the special cake and photo (aka Freeze Frame). Kinda pricey for a small cake! On a whim, I decided to call the other BRs in my area. Second one I tried was here, the BR on Atlantic. They quoted me $8 less! Crazy! Same chain but different pricing? Just to be sure, I called another BR, and they quoted me a little more than this place. Decision made! Plus they were accepting orders until closing (10pm). I rushed over and made my cake order. Who doesn't love ice cream? I have to have my ice cream, and on occasion I'll come to Baskin-Robbins. Last time I was here, I got an ice cream cake. I had to search through their selection of ice cream cakes because they seemed to have lots of larger sized, high priced cakes, and I wanted a smaller sized one. Found a cake that would fit the occasion I was celebrating and was on my way. I would like this place better if it were cleaner. There were smudges all over the glass case in front of the ice cream counters and on the door of the freezer where the cakes and ice cream pints were kept. Can't tell you how many times I've come here as a kid and got my triple scoop fix. Either I'm getting old, stuff is getting more and more expensive or maybe ice cream doesn't work for me anymore. ~$6 fora sundae (sans whipped cream, nuts and cherry) in an less-than-spotless environment is getting a touch ridiculous. They still make all those custom cakes and the designs are even more elaborate with all the scanners and technology now. Came here to buy an ice cream cake. Thought they would have small circular cakes as well as larger ones. Turns out the smallest one I could buy was 24.99 and was supposed to feed 6-8 people. It also comes with free inscription with piped frosting. The cake is actually large enough to feed 10 people since each slice is so dense and you can just cut a smaller slice. As for the cake itself, I got an Oreo cake with white cake filling. I honestly thought the ice cream cake would be 100% ice cream like the ones from Carvel. It has too much frosting and the white cake itself was not that moist and soft. I guess that's what happens when it's in a freezer. Also the cake also had Oreos on top for decoration but I thought it would be edible. Since it was on a cake and in a freezer, those Oreos are soggy. Ew. Not sure I'd recommend buying an ice cream cake here again. I think the staff at this store is really nice and the ice cream is good but maybe try somewhere else for the ice cream cake if you want all ice cream. read more

I went in last night about 8:00pm and tried to purchase 3 pre-packed quarts and some cones. The total came to $26.48. When I attempted to pay using a $20 and a $10, the cashier told me the $10 looked old and per ownership couldn't accept it. I was puzzled to say the least and the bill was in good condition, no tears, no wrinkles, so didn't understand. Her response was it was "policy". The gentleman behind me was nice enough to give me a $5 and five ones and when I tried to pay again, she said the $5 looked old and couldn't accept it. The guy behind me was as confused as I was and he even said "I've never heard of that before". Again, she stated it was "policy". I wish I can give this place a -1 star. One of the worst customer service. My wife wanted a small cake and they didn't have it. She mistakenly bought the bigger one and I went back to return it. The girls was so confused what to do. One employee told me to please bring it back tomorrow and then came other employee and she was like we do not take returns. They gave me an excuse that the case register is closed. I told them that is fine I can get my return tomorrow but I would appreciate if they can take the cake back. They refused. I wanted to leave a tip and noticed that you don't have a tip option for card payment, which doesn't make much sense due to the fact that they literally take online orders, phone orders, walk in orders, and make all of the order as well. I owe a big thank you to the two amazing employees who closed last night! They made our night! I was rushing To make it to get a cake that they made me last minute as a favor which was amazing! I wanted a small cake for two people and none of the Baskin-Robbins in Long Beach had any available. I called in and the cake maker was making one and she said she can make it and customize it as I please. She was so polite, sweet and did everything I asked! And it was a last minute!. She had the cake done within hours however I couldn't get off work in time to pick it up. So I literally rushed to the Baskin-Robbins, they were close to closing. The two employees held the door for me and let me in two minutes after they closed. And they had cleaned and closed up already. I appreciated that so much! They have no idea! We live nowhere near this location and they were kind enough to wait for us, greatly appreciated ! I just donated blood at Long Beach Memorial Hospital and was given a Pint for a Pint coupon at Baskin-Robbins. When I arrived at this store I was informed that they did not participate in the promotion. Why would you as a corporation go through all of the trouble to printing, donating and providing these coupons to charitable acts if you do not plan on honoring them as a corporation???
